Im the owner of Golden Canopy Inspections, a home inspection firm here in San Antonio, and Ive spoken with Westbrook Engineering on numerous occasions when Ive had questions beyond those intended to be answered during a home inspection, typically involving things like foundations, brick or rock exteriors, or engineered roof trusses, etc.On each occasion, whether I was in an attic, crawlspace, or in a kitchen with clients, Westbrook engineers have taken the time to speak with me and my clients by phone for sometimes prolonged periods of time, and have ALWAYS provided outstanding explanations associated with the conditions we wanted to discuss. While this is clearly not the same as a first-person evaluation or official assessment, it is a rare level of service, particularly as an UNPAID service, to take the time to discuss these types of situations in detail. Called to ask about services I needed and the person who answered the phone was so rude! No thanks, it’s an awful way to start I can’t even imagine what it’s like actually working with them.

I hired another engineering firm to help me with my home renovation. The entire process of that rude and arrogant company was a JOKE compared to Westbrook. I crossed my fingers and arranged a site visit with Wayne at Westbrook. He showed up and began looking at my entire home that had already been partially demolished. Nothing was left on the inside except a few 2x4s and the truss ceiling. After a few minutes of looking and discussion, Wayne said he could solve the problems. He even commented that my structural problems and design issues werent too major. He took it all as a challenge rather than an insurmountable PROBLEM (like my previous engineer). I had a blueprint I designed for what I wanted... but I didnt know how it could be done, per se. I had major structural changes, beams, and I was transitioning from roof truss to vaulted ceiling. Basically, I want to cut out the entire roof truss out and install rafters for a vaulted ceiling. Within a few weeks, Wayne had stamped engineered drawings and a recommendation letter for my builder. It was amazing. I was so grateful. Wayne got me excited about my renovation again. After the first engineer QUIT because the job was too massive and he wasnt sure how it could be done. Yet, Wayne came in and solved the problems. I am really grateful. And yes... I hired him again for our home addition. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. (A word of request to Westbrook: please keep your prices the way they are. This is what allowed us to complete the project using an engineer. This tremendous and invaluable service is out of reach if the price isnt affordable for the average homeowner.) Thank you.

Very good service, knowledge, etc. by an engineer that is well known and regarded in the local foundation engineering field by the builders and foundation contractors. I worked with Westbrook Engineering and w/ Jim Westbrook himself on many projects over the years and will still always highly recommend him.
