I started taking lessons here while in the midst of a lot of medical problems that were getting the best of my head. The instructors here are so friendly, patient and are really good at communicating. The horses are so fun to ride and be around. And I thank them very much for all the parts they teach you when riding a horse. Its the perfect challenge. I would absaloutely recommend Serendipity Stables πŸ’™

The owner is extremely condescending, i asked about private lessons and was told it couldnt be provided, would actually yell at me when I asked questions about their method because they used things I was not used to with horse riding. Basic questions that were met with defensive and condescending answers. She realized I was not reacting well to her responses and decided to give me a β€œprivate lesson” WITHOUT TELLING ME THATS WHAT TODAYS SESSION WOULD BE. ONLY CALLED IT ONE AT THE END. Proceeds to have a minor child who volunteers to clean around the arena give me a lesson; who told me they have never taught anyone and didn’t really know what the owner Sue expected of us, so we did stretching exercises (this volunteer was very sweet and tried her best.) Sue then charges me for a β€œprivate lesson.” She was far from helpful and kept the full amount, did not even split it with the β€œteacher.” This place is a joke! There are many great horseback riding locations near SLC, with real instructors and caring owners. This is far from one of them. Such a waste of time and money.

My childhood dream was to have a horse. So I started lessons at Serendipity Stables, when I was 40 and knew almost nothing about horses. Sue and her horses are fantastic teachers! Soon I leased a horse, on the off season, and then bought my own, which I board at SS. Sue takes great care of the horses, and they are very happy here. She takes great care of us too! Its a great community of supportive horse people -- kids, teens, adults. Great place to be living a dream.

Sue Hall at Serendipity provides non-competitive, horse-sensitive riding lessons for children, teens and adults, in both private and group lessons. The emphasis is on respecting and communicating gently with the horse.Weve been going to Serendipity for my daughters lessons for six years. This was the third stables we tried in the area and have finally found home. Safety for all, and humane treatment (e.g., no lessons in the heat of the day) for the horses are primary emphases. The location is fantastic as it is one of the few equestrian places still in an urban setting. Once youre at Serendipity, though, you often feel like youre in a rural setting. This stables has a special setting within view of Mount Olympus and the evenings and early mornings are magical. The grounds are very clean and the business is very well-run.The philosophy here focuses on forming a collaborative relationship with the horse rather than a controlling or overbearing one.For those who wish it, there is a lot to learn from becoming proficient in groundwork techniques (interacting with the horse when youre not riding.) Imagine being able to have a horse at liberty come to you when you make a small motion from 40 feet away! This takes time to learn but the relationship with a horse is one of the most satisfying you can have. Groundwork is totally optional. You are free to just take riding lessons. For the more advanced riders, there are opportunities for local, very low-key schooling shows, if that is desired. Also, this is a superb and humane place for people who need to board a horse. Serendipity is unusual in providing lots of running space for the horses.

Very unprofessional and disrespectful. Poor sportsmanship and horsemanship. Not diverse in teaching technique. Not fun for kids nor family friendly. Poor learning environment. Do yourself and you kids a favor and go anywhere else!
