I love this Staff! I have seen some real meanies come into this location and give the staff an extremely hard time it seems everyone has a complaint but the staff are always quick to remove problematic members and fix any issue that is brought to their attention. I do have one major complaint which is the reason for this review I just dont want to rate lower than 5 stars because of how amazing and friendly the staff is. The MUSIC! it was recently changed it seems like, and they played COUNTRY for a workout? That is depressing music switch up to more high energy workout music. Also the gym has no clocks it feels like Im here for 30 minutes and next thing you know its been 2 hours and you are late to work. SO in short amazing staff please get upbeat workout music and put clocks in your gym.

I am so incredibly impressed by VASA gyms. I was visiting from out of town and was able to utilize their facilities by way of my insurance membership. I was told that it could take a week for that to take effect but that I could get free day passes in the interim. Brielle from their Insurance Membership department Contacted me in only about two days and was able to have it set up within 12 hours. I really wish I lived near a place with a gym it had such a great quality cleanliness and friendly staff.

So, if you are thinking of going for personal training, I would recommend you, please reconsider not to because you would not have a great time and the entire process of cancellation is a pain. I told them that I want the contract only for three months, but they put my account into auto-renewable after three months and start deducting the weekly pay for 160$ which was not updated to me from The Brickyard Team. The vanity cant help you cancel, so you have to call the call center, which is more painful as they keep your call on hold for hours; even they would not straight stop the training, they would charge you for couple more weeks before canceling The entire process.

Plenty of equipment in the gym so even if it’s busy, you can get your workout in.The men’s bathroom wasn’t very clean when I went and there was a lack of cleaning materials where the weights are located. Cleanliness is something I appreciate significantly and I think that’s one area where this location can improve.I just joined after a couple year hiatus and this was my primary complaint before.

DO NOT sign up for a membership here unless you plan on having a membership forever! Vasa fitness and their 3rd party billing (Paramount Acceptance) make it impossible to cancel your membership! I initially tried calling in December 2019 to cancel my account and was told over the phone that it was being cancelled. Fast forward to March: I realized my account was still being charged. I emailed customer support, where again, I was told that my account was being cancelled (I still have email proof of this). In March, covid happened and Vasa closed its locations and temporarily stopped charging clients. This is why I assumed my account was cancelled (my card was not being charged). Fast forward to June: my card is charged again. I email customer support because I wanted email proof of communication. No answer. I then did my own research and found that Vasa goes through a 3rd party billing system called Paramount acceptance. I called them to ask why my account is still open and I am being charged. They asked me to send email proof that I was told that my account was being cancelled back in March. I sent it to them and I was told that they were now cancelling my account and waiving the 30 day notice/bank fee since I indeed had proof that I tried to cancel back in March. I even got a confirmation email that my account was closed. Fast forward to July: I get calls from Paramount acceptance saying that they tried charging my card but it was declined (I put a block payment through my bank since I lost all trust in Vasa and their 3rd party billing). I call them back and send email proof that they said they cancelled my account and waived the 30 day notice. They then, try telling me that I still owe a 30 day notice/bank fee and I need to pay that to avoid going to collections. I REFUSED to pay and am disputing with collections out of principle!!! Vasa needs to A) train their customer service representatives on communication and follow-up, and B) go through a different 3rd-party billing system!Side note: I wrote a review about a month ago and it was removed. I looked into why it may have been removed (I thought that was not allowed?) and apparently, if you leave a review for multiple locations (including ones you did not visit) they can remove them. Now I am resubmitting reviews for the locations I have been to.

This Vasa is only about half the size of the other locations.Although the location is clean, the size makes social distancing hard. I’m pretty sure that this is how I caught Covid last October.Equipment is also more limited than other location due to the size constraints. There is no Olympic weightlifting section. If you want to squat, deadlift, or bench you will probably have to wait your turn to use the equipment.

The training staff and actual facilities are great. However, as many other people have mentioned here, their billing system is an absolute mess. I had auto pay setup through their website, and it kept failing after setting it up. The payment would go through the first time, and then fail the second time, and it wasnt due to funds or issues with my account. I then tried to close my account when the pandemic hit, and 5 months later, I got a collections notice from, guess who? Vasa fitness.Im now shopping for a new gym since Im fully vaccinated. I would love to return to Vasa for their environment and equipment, but the billing issues will force me to consider other options.

Ive never stepped foot into a VASA facility nor have I ever given permission to have my credit card charged by them. However, I just discovered theyve charged me a total of ~$340 since July of 2020 after 24 hr fitness officially went bankrupt and apparently passed on former members billing info to VASA. My wife and I called 24hr back in May 2020 and there was a voice recording saying that all memberships were CANCELLED. Looking back, I did have a single message in my junk mail saying welcome to VASA but have never received any statements, receipts, or anything. I called VASA to cancel this membership and to get the charges reversed. Now Im in a runaround with VASAs third party billing company (Paramount Acceptance) trying to get things sorted out. Right now it sounds like I wont be able to get a refund because I dont have a cancellation confirmation code from 24hr... but well see. Super shady and frustrating.Update: Its been several weeks since my above post and VASA did have Paramount Acceptance get a hold of me again. The lady was very nice and understanding, but said that it wasnt within her power to refund the fees that I was unknowingly charged. She said that she would talk to her supervisor and then call me again over the next couple of days. Its been 3 weeks now and I havent heard anything else. Not surprised.

I use several of the Vasa locations and this is by far the smallest with the least amount of equipment, except for lots of cardio. Its kept clean, and the staff is generally pleasant. When its crowded its almost unusable as I experienced the other day at 6:30 pm. The overhead lights are way too bright and need a cover like other locations as theyre painful to the eyes if youre doing any exercises on the floor.

This is a decent gym in the Vasa gym network (I chose the membership that allows me to visit all the Vasa gyms). I usually go to the Van Winkle “24 hrs” Vasa gym (not truly 24 hrs-closes early on Friday Saturday, Sunday), but this is the closest one to me living downtown (Vasa needs to open one in downtown). This one still closes at 10:30 PM weekdays, 6 PM on Saturday, and 3 PM Sundays-Vasa really need to extend their weekend hours!I try not to hit morning and evening rush hours, as it’s overly crowded, and equipment wait time is dreadful (No I don’t want to get in sets with you, my muscles looses its contractions). But even non peak late hours like after 8 PM, the gym can be packed. It’s not like you have to wait for available equipment, but there’s still a decent amount of people exercising. There’s two floors in this gym, half of the first floor has cardio equipment (as well as a cardio cinema), and the other half has a combination of free weights, chest and back isolation machines, and a small grassy area for body exercises (planks anyone). They also have male and female lockers and restrooms, with bottle/water fountains (can be out of order at times, and the filter status is usually yellow or red) on the first floor. The second floor has mostly legs, arms, and couple of cardio bicycles. I dislike how all the Vasa gyms now have these separate workout areas that’s only accessible with personal trainers-not like the gyms had extra unused space. Maybe they want to promote and up-sell their new membership with a personal trainer, and this area is reserved for the few premium members.Overall it isn’t a bad gym to come and get in a quick workout, but I’d definitely plan around the rush hours. Lastly, please extend your weekend hours!

They enforce them as much as is reasonable. If you’re worried about crowds and exposure just avoid the evening rush and you’ll be fine - it’s rarely ever busy any other time.Place is kept clean and maintained. Has two tanning beds (plus) but no group classes (potential negative), an unusual combination as far as vasas go.Good variety of machines and equipment. Also has a secret upper level that I didn’t even realize was there for a solid 6 months. If you actually will use your membership it’s a great value.

Always clean and the equipment is great, even if it lacks in some areas. It is definitely a busy gym, but that’s not their fault. And I definitely wish they were open longer on the weekends. My biggest problem is I don’t appreciate how pushy the sales team is. I signed up for a free training session when I first got a membership and was brought in after the session to be sold a training program. When I told them my work schedule wouldn’t allow it at the time due to traveling, the woman selling me got annoyed and the conversation was quickly ended. A few months later they were offering free personal training sessions again, so I signed up hoping to get some tips and again I was brought in to be sold to. I told the woman I would need to check my bank account because I wasn’t sure if my student loans would last for the semester and I would still be traveling for work until March. She went ahead and signed me up anyways, saying I could put the training on hold for a few months. Never once did she ask me if I was interested in personal training or if I had any concerns, I had to bring up the money and travel thing myself. When I got home and realized I didn’t have the money, I reached out to them and was told I could only put the training on hold for one month but in the meantime I could try to sell my contract and pay the $100 transfer fee. I understand that sales is about making the sale, but I guess I expected a little more honesty and transparency and a little less “hard selling.” I felt like they weren’t so interested in helping me as they were about getting my money. I definitely learned my lesson: There is no such thing as a free lunch.

Disappointed by the lack of enforcement of the mask policy here, especially given lack of ICU availability in SLC and the new mandate + emergency alert we all received on our phones this past Monday. There is no effort by the staff to enforce using masks past the doorway... Well over half of the people inside are exercising in close proximity without masks. Nothing but horrible experiences with them in the last 8 months. I tried cancelling my membership, sent them an email and called them on the phone. They owe me a credit for unused personal training also. I have not gone to their gyms since November but they continue to charge me fees. I have called several times but they do not answer and do not call me back. I have to pay fees to dispute the charges. It has been a nightmare. Im still going through it. Would not recommend. I would give negative stars if I could.Editing to add details. I signed up for personal training last August. I lost my job the very next morning. I went straight over to the location I used at brickyard. I brought the paperwork and the heart monitor I got with signing up. They told me I had a scheduled meeting with the trainer and to wait and cancel with him. I asked if that would make it too late to cancel and they said it would be fine, they would let him know. I showed up to meet the trainer and let him know right off that I was unemployed and could not afford training at that time. He said he didnt handle any of that and gave me a card to call corporate. Corporate advised me I only had 3 days to cancel and was outside of that time frame. I detailed my conversations with their staff at brickyard but they said I was still outside the allowed time for cancelling the trainings and would continue to charge me. The next five months were really bad. They charged my account every 2 weeks. My account got more and more negative. I finally got a little unemployment but the trainings ate most of it up and the rest was overdraft fees.I became very sick in November and stopped going anywhere. ( I have lung disease) They were still charging me. My bank said because I entered into the contract with them I had to have them stop charging me, they would not let me stop payment. When coronavirus hit I sent an email cancelling and also letting them know they owed me for unused trainings. I received no refund but they werent charging me fees so I wasnt paying attention to them as I had a lot going on personally. Now Im being charged fees again but I dont go anywhere much less the gym that Im told they are failing at keeping clean and the crowding at a minimum anyway. I have lung disease and I work in private home care with a 72 year old patient I have to think about also so I dont go anywhere I dont have to go.I called again this morning and sat on hold with their automated system. It kept offering to keep my place in line and call me back if I pushed option 1. I did not hit option 1 because they havent called me back doing that before so I stayed on the line. After 16 minutes the automated system said thank you well call you back at this number even though I didnt push anything. When I didnt verify the number to be called back on it kept repeating my number so I gave in and pushed accept. Still no call an hour and a half later. My bank has called me twice in that time but no call from Vasa.I would like to add their machines were regularly broken when I did go and the crowding was enough at times I couldnt get the machines that werent broken. My next move may have to be legal if they wont call me back and continue to keep stealing my money. Save yourself a headache and go anywhere else!

If you change a policy over night, which i was literally in this facility 24 hours ago and you change it to YOU MUST WEAR A MASK you should notify your customers or allow a one time exception i was told to leave after i said i didnt have one. I will leave, to a competitor. Also this isnt in compliance with the salt lake county mandate it specifically says except while exercising or where social distancing can be maintained. Im in customer service management and during these unprecedented times weve had to make plenty of exception and Id be disheartened to hear of one one my staff members treat a customer so unprofessionally. I was burned when this was golds years ago but thought Id give them another shot, my bad Vasa has also been equally disappointing.

I was so excited a gym was open finally, until I went inside. There was only one employee on staff and when I brought up my concern about people not cleaning their equipment and social distancing he said he would love to help if he had some help saying he couldn’t leave the front desk because they were close to hitting max capacity so I tried to continue my workout but as more people came in it became obvious they didn’t have enough equipment for their maximum occupancy people started grouping together and chatting instead of working out creating an even unhealthier environment. I have already reported this business to the UDOH you should be ashamed for opening when you were not properly prepared all you have accomplished is creating a haven for Covid19 to spread in I feel sorry for your employees.

Ashley has been wonderful to train with these last few months. She is kind, without lacking effectiveness and always pushes me in just the right way. She always makes sure I wont hurt myself and has taught me I can do things I never thought Id achieve. Definitely recommend training with her. Its one of the best decision I have ever made!

I went today with their offer to come for.a trial session. My intent was to sign up as it is very close to a new home I just purchased down the street. It would have been a great location, but I left thinking I would probably sign up with Planet Fitness instead. The reasons why include:- Poor Air Circulation made it too warm for a comfortable work out and also just felt stuffy. It was hard to get a breath of fresh air until leaving the building.- A lot of the old gym smells mixed with a lot of cologne.- Equipment is pretty outdated and worn out. TVs were also outdated and hard to watch.- pretty overly crowded and cleaning is suspect- Poor lighting and just time for a remodel.

Super friendly staff, clean, and affordable. Really my only complaint is that this location has two squat racks and a Smith machine. Its incredibly difficult to get a turn on this equipment unless youre there when its dead. Also I really wish they had a studio room of some sort or more space to do conditioning/stretching instead of the theater, which is half the gym. Otherwise, great gym. Especially for the price.

I have an amazing trainer at this VASA location. She pushes me to do more and keeps me motivated. All of the trainers are fun and seem to build a good rapport with their clients. The staff is nice and friendly. Locker room is clean and well maintained. I would recommend it.

Vasa screwed over my boyfriend. Hed been with 24 Hour for over 15 years and was not once notified that his contract was being sold to Vasa Fitness. He sees a strange charge on his account and reports it. Next you know Vasa is calling him stating he owes them 75 dollars, of which 50 is a late fee. Wed been using 24 Hour in a COMPLETELY different state for years and before COVID happened. They refused to refund the late fee and at best could get it reduced but the way this whole situation was handle was extremely poor! Will never EVER, be a customer of Vasa after this!!

I was a member of 24 Hour Fitness, which temporarily closed during the pandemic, then permanently closed all their gyms in the state. Thats understandable, given the current situation and economy. However, they transferred my membership to Vasa, including my credit card information. Vasa then charged me for a gym membership, which I did not authorize nor even know about. I have never been to the place where I was supposedly a member. I didnt even realize any gyms had reopened yet. They never should have had my credit card number in the first place. I only found out when looking at my bank online, so I disputed the charge, and my bank closed that account to be safe and sent me a new card. Now Vasa has the gall to send a collection agency after me, plus a $25 return fee. Vasa isnt a gym chain, its a criminal racket. EDIT: So they responded asking for my barcode number, which if they had actually read the review they should know I never had one, because I have never been to the place I was supposedly a member. Now several months later I got a letter from a law firm for nearly ten times the amount. I suppose next they will send someone to break my legs, since that is what organized crime would do, at least on TV.
