Christy is an amazing compassionate friend and person. When I was struggling with my anxiety and talked with her she listened and tried to understand what I truly needed for help. Since she is a friend she didnt want to cross any boundaries and said it was better if I saw a neutral party. She recommended a therapist and doctor who have helped. I never would of found them without her. She always puts her patients and friend care above anything else. I would use her 1000% as she one of the best people I know.

I had a session with Christy over a year ago. I initially sought her out, due to the high reviews she has accumulated across the internet. However, after my session, not only was I disappointed; I felt offended, ridiculed and in some sense monetarily robbed. Due to my experience, I feel morally obligated to write a review on Christy Kobe.1). The intellectual dishonesty in Christys ability to make an observation.While meeting with Christy, I noticed how quick she was to assume a diagnosis upon little information and time spent with me. The problem is not necessarily the diagnosis she had made, but her method in doing so ( which in turn could lead to making an inaccurate diagnosis). When I questioned her on how and why she came to her conclusions. Christy got extremely defensive and even rolled her eyes at me. What I thought was going to be a therapy session felt more like a psychological debate. Which leads to my question- If Christy believes her abilities to observe and diagnose, cannot be disproved or subject to question. Are the methods in which Christy makes observations of her patients valid?Due to this, I question the intellectual honesty within Christys abilities to provide adequate treatment.2). Dishonesty in specialization.At the time when I saw Christy, she would not accept my insurance (which was Blue Cross Blue Shield then). During the phone call I had with Christy before our session, I gave a brief generalization of my reasons for seeking therapy. She seemed very confident over the phone in her abilities to work with me. When I met with her in person, it felt like a different Christy than I had talked with over the phone. In our meeting, she claimed that she could not work with me and she could only refer me to other therapists (due to being specialized in other areas); I ended up paying $180 for that session. Why couldnt she just refer me to someone over the phone? I understand therapy is a business, however, if you have a high hourly rate without accepting insurance, and you are hyper-specialized in something outside of a patients criteria of treatment.Why would you even offer a service like this?For in this situation, it had little to do with the money and had everything to do with the principle; $180 is a lot of money for some people and more importantly, a persons time and bravery to seek therapy is even more of what is of value here. For instance, if a medical doctor was to offer a service of providing adult Internal Medicine treatment than after one session was to claim they could no longer see the patient; because they were a Neonatologist and not an Internal Medicine doctor (without accepting any insurance). You might question the honesty of which they advertise to specialize? You may also question accuracy in which how they diagnosis?Once again, this leaves more room to question Christys honesty and competency to run a therapy practice.To conclude, I feel there is serious negligence within Christys methods of treatment. I am sure Christy has helped a lot of people. However, as I stated earlier, therapy is not only cost and time effective; it takes bravery and courage for someone to seek out for help (as it did for me). One bad experience may discourage persons from seeking out further help/therapy when they may be in need of it. Besides the arrogance and disrespect, I felt from Christy; her professionalism was also of concern. This shows that finding the right therapist is not always easy. For anyone looking for effective treatment, stay skeptical. Ask for the first session to be free/consultation, validate acceptance of insurance, do whatever is necessary to confirm it is a right fit.
