Vijay helped us every step of the way planning, coordinating and helping in any way possible. He will treat you like family. The food is excellent and service was great! Vijay did such a great job from the beginning and on our wedding day, he was there to ensure everything was done well. His staff is amazing, excellent service. This place is very clean and professional. The venues are big and there is a lot to choose from. The people here are also very nice too.

So where do I begin? Warning this review will be very long because I am going to be honest. So when we first booked the Excelsior in 2016 for our wedding May 2017 happened to quick because my husband loved it and didnt want to consider any other venues. I loved the gold trim and vintage look which matched my wedding colors. But I still wasnt convinced after all the negotiating that it was the hall for us. There were a few things and repairs that needed to be done. I wanted something more brand new marble floor, and a roof top ceremony better parking space. We ended up staying with the Excelsior because of affordability and Victor assured us that maintenance would be done by our wedding, plus we had already put $5000 down which wasnt refundable. The package that Victor the owner gave us was amazing. We had both our wedding and reception there and the transition was very easy. We went from a 250 guest count wedding to 350. Victor made sure my guest was well taken care of, his staff and set up was very spacious. All my guest gave us good report on the service. The food was good, the attendants was great. The cocktail room was packed, but everyone enjoyed the food. Everyone was well fed. Most of all we built an awesome relationship with Victor and he made sure we (bride especially) request and accommodations was met. It was a pleasure doing business with Victor. The cake company they work with did an awesome job with my wedding cake. The parking turned out to be well organized. There was valet and although there was another event taking place down stairs, they managed to fit all the cars and maintained the separation between the events going on.

Overall the service was good. I dealt with Victor from the start. He seemed to be knowledgeable and he was always polite. When we came to pick our colors and make our last payment we were rushed because Victor had people waiting for him. There was a $1500 discrepancy in the balance due. I had to show Victor proof from my bank. This showed poor organizational skills on his part. On the day of the event I noticed the napkins were the wrong color. We had picked a dark purple and they mixed dark purple and lilac. The maid of honor had saved her speech on her cell phone that was locked in the Bridal suite, the maître d’ had the key and was nowhere to be found. She had to improvise and she was not happy.Victor promised me a signature drink which we discussed and I sent him the recipe for via text and email. I advised our guests about the signature drink in advance. On the day of the event there was no signature drink. When my guests asked the bartender for the drink he responded that he knew nothing about a signature drink. I was beyond embarrassed when I heard about that. Also, the only time I went to the bartender to ask for a drink he told me they did not have what I wanted and walked away. Granted, I had changed from my wedding gown into another dress, so he didn’t recognize me as the bride, but that doesn’t excuse his rudeness.Many of my guests complained that the food was cold. There were other details that were missed, but too many to list here.If you are having your event here, do yourself a favor and just make sure anything Victor promises is in writing. In our case he promised things and did not deliver.

I held my baby shower last Sunday. My experience at excelsior catering was amazing from the service to the food. The owner Victor made sure food was hot when it was being served and available for the all the guest on time. Kitchen service was great, there was difficult trying to find out where to park, nobody at front to guide us to the correct room.

What a nice place! I have attended a wedding here and the service is at the best! The staff was staying on top of everything! The cocktail hour food choices were at large!! And the dinner choices were good and delicious!!!! The room decorations were good. The place was neat and clean! The Bridal suit was perfect. They served all the appetizer and drinks in the Bridal suites!!! Amazing fun we had it! Highly recommended. Oh one more thing see Victor - very knowledgeable individual! Will help you and make your life lot easier!!!! Definitely will book future event!!!

Very nice place. I am celebrating my sisters wedding here today. Amazing set up. Owner is present own site. Great fun to work with him. Great co-ordination between staff and chef in the kitchen. Food is delicious. Everyone is enjoying two days event at the Excelsior. Highly recommended. Valet and ample parking available also.

Perhaps the day of our event The Excelsior was experiencing personnel difficulties. Our experience was nothing like the other reviews listed. This is definitely the first and last time this venue will be booked by our organization. We are a scholarship organization out of Bergen County and have been in existence since 1950. We book venues for functions at least twice a year , therefore, we have certain expectations in a venue.The Excelsior met none of our expectations. First, the valet parking attendant demanded a $5 tip for parking cars. Second, the tablecloths and napkins used were not matching and were dingy. Third, the food was tasteless. It was a horrible experience and I do not recommend this venue for anything!There was no space to answer your reply so I will post it here. YOU, the owner was not present at the end of the affair, therefore your reply is irrelevant! Yes, we did expect and did receive a credit. The service was unprofessional to say the least. The fact we did receive a credit gives credence to the haphazard service we received. I REST MY CASE!

I have planned our company Christmas party at the Excelsior - It was a last minute arrangement and I was dealing with Victor the Office Manager. I have to say that Victor is a great gentlemen. I have planned the party for 150 Guests but at last minute our final guests count was only 72 guests. Victor was a men for our rescue. I know according to our contract we were supposed to pay full amount but Victor understood our situation and worked with us in the favor of us.Not only that but He did our event with everything what we asked for us.The Buffet was open for almost from 7pm - 10pm and our late arrival guests were able to still enjoy the delicious food.Also we asked for the plated fruit plate and He served according to our requests - The Bar was perfectly fine and he served the Shots until 11:30pm as discussed. So it was a great fun event and We will be hosting our company event next year again.Thank you Excelsior for great service and working with us.Have a Happy Holidays!

We had a wonderful experience at the Excelsior. True wedding venue - The staff and manager knows how to take care of details and make your day more memorable. The office manager Victor was very detailed and he was present on the day of our wedding to make sure everything will be delivered and him and his staff did an awesome job.Great European wedding venue with easy access and great ambiance.Great food and great services. This venue is GORGEOUS!!! The staff is Awesome!! Every last one of my guest said the food was delicious!! I was so happy from beginning to end. They took care of us, met with us anytime we needed something, got back to us in a timely fashion. The coordinator was so attentive, professional and patient with me. I could not have asked for a better staff. If you want an elegant venue with superb customer service look no further. I highly recommend this place.

Cute place. Nice for parties. Came here for my cousins sweet 16 and had a blast. Love that they have valet parking too. The food was great. There is Definitely not a big enough dance floor for 300 people though so if youre having a party limit to 150

Excelsior is a true icon of Bergen county wedding venue. After a long time we visited this venue again last eeekend for a family event. We loved the new look of it. It still has that Venetian look. They have kept the place still nice and unique. The food and service were still good. We remember there going almost every month in the past because it was the first place in Bergen county.Good luck!!! And continue going great job.

Where to start to give my honest opinion for the Excelsior!!!! We have booked a sweet 16 since a long time and we celebrated it last Sunday here at the Excelsior. They did an awesome job for our event. everyone enjoyed the event - Great decore in Le-Versailles room. our number of guests went up from 150 to 180 and staff handled it nicely.we were very happy with everything - Sharon is the best person and she helped us a lot during our event!

Charged excessive amount for drinks at repast took advantage of grieving family was even told was a great source of income on a weekday since no events happen. They must have thought I was a delivery guy or something to admit these things to me

This was my first time attending this hall. The venue is well presented. The food was very good and the staff was so attentive. So kind and no frowns at any moment. The restroom does not have a changing table and it did not smell too well. The private room could have been a little better and the sofa a little cleaner. Overall not a bad place to have an event.

I have been to the Excelsior and I should say I had a fantastic experience there attending a friends event. Loved how the place has been tastefully decorated and setup, the staff who was very pleasant and helpful, bar is stocked with the drinks that guests requested. Food was very tasty and being a vegetarian, did not feel like I was missing out on anything or did not have enough to eat. On the contrary had a good variety of food. Overall, I loved my time at this place, certainly would recommend this place for anyone looking for a Banquet hall and catering services and will use the facility for any celebrations I plan to have in my life.Keep up the good work!!!

I have been to The Excelsior on a few occasions for birthday parties, New Year Eve parties and a Wedding. The food was excellent and the service was impeccable. On all occasions, Victor greeted us and provided a personal touch. The ambiance is very nice. It is truly an awesome banquet hall in North Jersey. I definitely recommend it.

Went to an event for a charity. 1st drink...JOHNNY Walker Black rocks was great. I went for the 2nd drink and it did not taste the same. So...1st I thought maybe it was me. I went back the bar and asked for another but this time no ice. It tasted like a cheap drink.I went to the manager and told him that what they were doing was illegal. Pouring other non brands into a brand bottle was not right. He immediately asked a server to bring me another drink and surprise surprise it was JOHNNY Walker Black.All I have to say is beware.

I got married at the Excelsior in December - The place is absolutely beautiful. We had 200 Guests and our menu was with Cocktail hour and sit down dinner. We enjoyed everything, food was delicious and service was great! The room set up was amazing with LED lights. My wife and I had our wedding here 09/06/15. Victor was fantastic at taking care of every detail. My wife is vegan so there is a lot she cannot eat. Victor, along with his team, were able to customize the menu for us. We had forgotten one of our gifts behind (a diamond ring!), but again Victor came to our rescue. Once the ring was located he kept it locked in his office until I was able to retrieve it. I will definitely keep them in mind for future events.

We held our 40th Wedding Anniversary celebration at The Excelsior and found it to be a lovely place to gather. The service was excellent and the manager saw to our every need. The culinary choices were very nice for the price we paid, and the ambiance and the rooms were very appropriate, warm and cozy for our celebration. My only small peeve was that I did not receive the exact cake I requested, but we made due with what was provided. The manager was courteous and provided great customer service and vigilance all throughout our event. The service staff was very accommodating and professional. I recently had a wedding held at The Excelsior. The atmosphere was great! The place exceeded our expectations. The Victorian décor amazed us. On a special note the staff as well as the Banquet Sales manager Alana were very professional and catered to all our needs. I was quite amazed that during party the owner Victor was seen walking around to make sure everything was running smoothly. We celebrated my sisters Quinceañera, in the upstairs room, this year. The room was beautiful and they did a great job coordinating the colors to go with her theme. The service for the buffet was great, and food was tasty. I really enjoyed the ambiance in this place, including their bathrooms. As a result, I have booked a different room at the Excelsior for my own wedding. Vijay AKA Victor has provided us with excellent customer service since we set the date and has been available for all our questions and concerns. I absolutely recommend this place for any event, big or small, because they will work with you to meet your needs.

The owner was available via text and would get back to both me and my wife in a quick manner. I had my moms 50 birthday party at The Excelsior this summer. The rooms were excellent. Special recognition for personalized service goes to Ron, Alana and to the bartender (I think his name is Jerry).Alana was my contact in the last few days of my event; she made sure that my requests were met on time. Alana is a people person, who is bright and very professional. Ron the waiter/maitre d’ was at my side for everything and he is very efficient.Victor seem to care about only about money .The food was delicious and the back of the house staff were all great.My guests and I had a wonderful time, so thanks to all the staff and I would book at The Excelsior for my next event. - Simone M.

Ive attended a couple of special occasions at The Excelsior and all I can say is that the food is delicious and the service staff is very attentive and responsive to any of my needs. This is a budget place. I am not knocking it. I have been to many low budget halls. However, this one hits an all time low. Every plate of the main course that came out was absolutely cardboard paper dry. I ordered the prime rib steak. The center of the steak was very pale and white. This only happens when meat is boiled. Restaurants do this to speed up the process and less cook time. It was the worst food I have ever touched. My wife had the chicken and it was horrible. I can not believe this place is in business. I was invited to a wedding there. Again I want to emphasize there is nothing wrong with a low budget place. I have gone to lower end halls however the food decent. Not like this place.I will never go to this place again unless I am forced lol. I dont get it! I truly felt bad for the people that was very hungry. The waitress was very nice but not half way knowledgeable with food, setup, where to place what. I was alittle at shock by everything. Oh also the uneven cut bread came out without receiving a basic small plate. A ways good luck.

I was at the Excelsior for a wedding this passed weekend, the place is a 3 stars for its appearances even dough they have this vintage look. The staff I have to say a 4 star for the effort on accommodating the wedding party and their guests. But when it comes to the most in portent thing which is the food, I say that this was a 1 star if that, a place can lack on appearances or services, but food, this is your money maker this is what at the end of a long day people are there for... my advice to the owner of Excelsior, is to work on their poor taste and quality a long with quantity when it comes to the food if he can not invest on the structure of the place.
