Our experience was very unique in that after leaving the rental yard, the trailer which was hooked up by U-Haul broke loose and hit the back of our Tahoe causing major damage. While I give them credit for coming out to scene right away, no offer was made to credit our bill for the inconvenience. I really dont think we should have to ask especially since we are without our Tahoe for a week while in the shop for repair and common sense should prevail.

Noah G. is great! We arrived early to return a truck and trailer, and he opened shop early so we could get our cash deposit back. Noah was very kind, helpful, and even gave us a little insight on the area. He gives off positive vibes. In regards to the actual store, its clean and looks nice compared to other u-haul stores. If youre looking to move, Id suggest trying this u-haul location.

Employee Noah went way above and beyond his call of duty on June 25, 2021 - there was a veritable monsoon occurring and he was accommodating as possible, kept checking in while we were transferring stuff from a moving truck into pods, got us everything we needed, and even let us back the truck into the warehouse to keep out of the rain. He was outside tending to as many customers as necessary in the POURING rain, completely drenched, and even during that he was still incredibly helpful, friendly, and did everything with a smile. Noah deserves a bonus and/or a raise, hes a top-notch OUTSTANDING employee. U-Haul, please take note, these are the kinds of workers who earn your company 5 stars.

07/19/21 Update: Adjusting my rating from 3 stars to 1. The wiring the tech accessed during the install came loose and has dragged while we were driving. It is now damaged and I have to seek and pay for replacement and repair, meanwhile my lights are not working properly. (Lights on bumper.) They do not answer their phone and customer service at corporate cant help. Apparently, the only way to get it made right is to go into the facility and make demands. What a nightmare. I strongly regret not going with Total Trailer Parts in Rochester, as I was initially inclined.....Be aware that the ability to order a hitch and schedule installation online doesnt mean you will actually have it installed as scheduled. As of 6/26/21, it took over 3 weeks for the hitch I ordered online to come in, and the install was delayed over 3 weeks. Communication is not great, they simply called weekly to let me know theyd call again to let me know if the parts come in and then never picked up the phone. Every call I made (because I inevitably missed theirs) resulted in 15 to 40 min on hold and being forwarded to the call center (call center was helpful) and high demand and distributor communication cited as the issue. In a day and age when inventory control is so accurate and precise, the lack of information about the parts is irritating. Over all, job is done, staff was ok at the location, the installation didnt take especially long... just dont make that logical leap that the ability to schedule online means they actually have the materials or that youll know when the installation will be done.

This past weekend, I arrived at my scheduled 7/17/2021 12:00 PM pickup time at the Rochester Hills store and began the online check-in procedure on my phone. I uploaded the requested documents, located the truck as required, paid for the rental, and was told to head inside to pick up the key to the vehicle. When I spoke to the attendant inside (I believe his name was Brian), I knew something was wrong when I showed him my phone and he couldnt find the key. He asked me to wait for just a second while he went and got the manager. A few seconds later, Brian returned with Bethany Mosher, the general manager of the store. Bethany let me know that the truck I was assigned to was actually broken down and had been placed on the Do Not Reserve list earlier that morning. She couldnt explain why the system had assigned me to that truck knowing that they had listed that truck as out of commission earlier in the day. Upon further review, Brian notified me that the truck I originally had reserved had not yet been returned by its previous renter. At this point, it was around 15-20 minutes past my reserved pick-up time. Brian then attempted to call the customer who was currently in possession of the vehicle who let him know that they would return the truck sometime in the next hour.At this point, I said to Bethany, So Im just screwed waiting for this guy to return the truck whenever he gets back? What came out of her mouth next was extremely unprofessional and showed a major lack of leadership skills and class. Bethany said to me verbatim, Yes, but I have seven other customers who dont care that youre screwed! Youll get your $50 reservation guarantee. I was shocked and appalled when hearing this response. Not a single word of apology, not a single word of understanding, just pointing out that I didnt matter to her and her 7 other customers somehow took priority over me. She also was clearly insinuating that $50 was plenty of money to cover my troubles whether I was on a tight schedule or not. What if I had hired movers through U-Hauls Moving Help service? At that point, not only would I have been stuck waiting for a truck, I would have likely missed my appointment time as well. Had Bethany not answered like this, I would have totally understood the issue. It is prime moving time here in Michigan and from what Ive heard from all of the moving companies, it has been ridiculously busy the past weeks. This was an error in the system that she had no control of, but just the way she carried herself really soured me on the whole ordeal. Regardless of the system issues, someone at the store could have easily called me to let me know that my rental was not ready yet since the previous customer had not returned it.In turn, Bethany offered me two options to remedy the situation. I could either sit at the store and wait until the previous renter returned the truck sometime in the next hour or she could offer me a broken truck in which the ramp to the back of the truck would have to be lifted manually in and out of the trailer as the roller system that it sat in was broken. There was no offer to help me find another truck, there was still no apology for the mishandling of the situation, and at this point I was completely fed up. Bethany simply walked away without another word when I told her I wasnt interested in taking the broken truck and I never saw her again. Meanwhile, inside the store there was only one other person who was shopping for boxes. Im not sure where she came up with the 7 other customers who were obviously more important than I was.I will never rent from U-Haul ever again. Avoid this location, especially on busy days!

I had called this location to make a reservation in advance to pick up a truck at a self service location, and when I arrived on the scheduled day and time, there were no trucks whatsoever at the location. I called u-haul and they said they don’t know what happened but there were no units available at all. I am moving today, and since I work 3 jobs this was the only day I had to get everything out of my apartment and into a house. Very upset and disappointed with u-haul and their misinformed customer service.

My trailer return time was 7 pm and the office closed at 5 pm . I returned the trailer at midnight. I was charged $20 for “ after hours service fee” which is a ridiculous fee since I took care of parking and unhooking the trailer . Branch couldn’t rent the trailer to anyone else since they closed already for the day . Not renting their again

The 5 stars is for the “one man” show this place was running on 12/13/2020. It was sad to see a person deal with an endless line like that, but he seemed to handle everyone even the people he managed over. U-Haul should get him some help, saw a lot of suspended OL tenants on your screens.

Drove a car hauler trailer all the way from the upper peninsula to Rochester lights quit working. So we randomly pulled into this U-Haul location Bethany came out and fixed the lights on the trailer by changing the fuses in my truck and testing all the lights great service thank you so much Bethany

Had appointment at 9:00 went across the street ate breakfast then went to the Dollar store spent 20 minutes in there came out received a phone call saying that someone came in with a wiring issue so now it just after 10:00 theyre going to start working on my vehicle I get here at 10:30 its on the voice but no one working on it every time I look theres no one working on it apparently Im going to spend my Sunday here I would not recommend anyone do business at this location.

Sucks that they don’t offer 24/7 access to their pricey storage units. Just causes a lot of inconvenience. Wouldn’t recommend. Looked up prices online for Michigan U-Haul storage units and they were reasonable, then I went into the store and referenced those deals and got some BS franchise/this location excuse aka the prices were substantially higher. NOT IMPRESSED. Not easy to access, especially in the beginning. Just too much of a hassle for that high price.

I am very impressed with the clean interior of this place! Most of the people are really friendly but they definitely need better front help at the desk. They dont seem like they know what they are doing. Very convenient location with access from two major streets. Will definitely recommend this place to anyone who needs a solution for moving things without hiring a big company.

This facility has definitely taken care of my moving and storage needs recently. It can be a stressful time, and I was so pleased to find between their rates and customer service it helped reduce the burden. What a nice group of helpful people work there! I had to downsize while working full-time so I picked up the 24-hour access key and got in and out like VIP. Initially I had too much stuff! This process can help break that down. Im slowly setting up for my next place to stay while living cheap. Again it made it so easy it helped reduce stress. Way to go U-Haul!

This place is a joke. Been here for over an hour sitting in the parking lot because no one will fix trailer light. Unbelievable and the shop workers had to ask us how to use their own tools.

The customer service representative we dealt with during our experience, Noah G., was incredibly rude. He kept reading through portions of the contract and agreement faster than we could comprehend, and it seemed as though he was trying to force us into certain options for insurance, gas, etc. The truck itself was fine, but next time I think we’ll consider Penske or another competitive brand because of how poorly we were treated by Uhaul employees. It genuinely felt like Noah was trying to take advantage of us, and was frustrated when we asked him to slow down and explain things a little more in depth for us. Definitely one of the worst customer service experiences we’ve had in recent memory.

Rented a trailer from this location two weeks ago, and things were fine. Came back today, and Bethany at the front desk had no idea how to work the computer system. Eventually someone else came and had to start the rental process all over. Then I was directed to drive over to where the trailer pick up area is. Employee Andrew, kept me waiting, then told me the hitch ball and nut were not the correct size. He told me I had to go back to the front office, wait in line and pay an extra fee to get the correct hitch parts. I explained to him that it should have been fine since I had rented from them two weeks ago. He then shook his head and said someone must not have done their job. So now this process that should have taken 15 minutes stretched out to over an hour. No one was apologetic at all. Will NOT be returning.

Extreamly unhappy with service. Had reserved a truck n trailer to move a lifted jeep. Trailer wouldnt fit my jeep. Had to spend the same amount i paid for said rental to pay a tow company to move jeep. Was on hold with customer service for over 20 mins b4 i hung up last night. Called again today, n the lady tried to argue with me that the jeep does fit (i tried several times.. jeep tires almost 3 inches too wide to fit). Somehow they dont have a manager on shift, so now i have to call back...again just to hopefor a resolution to my wasted money and time.

Great management and easy to work with. Had multiple issues with my rental truck from another location including not being issued furniture pads that were paid for, purchase of oil for low oil light, and broken trailer light that fell out on a bumpy road. They got me reimbursements and credits for everything, and didnt charge me a thing. They also found and held onto a pair of nose headphones that were left in the truck upon turn-in. Would gladly use them for all my moving and storage needs.

Bad Service!I drove the truck for 12 miles, refueled one gallon on my way back and still was charged $5 for additional fuel because the first attendant did not mark the fuel correctly.Beware and triple check everything if you decide to rent at this location!

Rented trucks here many times this past summer helping my grandma and mom move. The employees are very friendly, never damaged the trucks so thats a good thing also LOL. Just call a couple weeks ahead as they can get very busy on weekends.

GO HERE! In todays world of diminished customer service, U-Haul shines So we where moving to Florida and had not decided on the method of moving our possessions. I kind of put off having a hitch installed because I just assumed I could just drive to a U-Haul and they would pull one off the shelf, install it, and Id be on my way in an hour or three. I was wrong. First, my car could not use an off the shelf hitch. It had to be ordered. The second thing I didnt realize is I was trying to this in the spring. There are lots of people having hitches installed for the upcoming camping season. After a few calls around town with two days before we had to be on the road, U-Haul in RH made it happen. They had a few shop guys fit us in an already overbooked schedule. The crew at U-Haul of Rochester did everything they could to get us on the road as scheduled.
