I’m a puppy raisers on my six puppy. I love everyone I’ve met, the help we get with our questions, the staff and volunteers. The puppies are a lot of commitment and work but also the love of our lives. Our hearts hurt when we bring them back but to see the clients and dogs matched and the love they share makes it worth it. I bring in a puppy, and walk out the door with a new puppy, and another year or more of commitment. But I have the highest reward, I walk more, keep my weight stable, or loose a bit as needed, do things I wouldn’t do, take my puppy places I can’t take a pet, and would be alone shopping, and doing some of that running. Puppy raising is not for everyone as it is a daily commitment and lots of time teaching a puppy in what can be its biggest year of training but the puppy will always teach me new things and steal a piece of my heart ❤️..

Awesome place to go to get orientation and mobility training. Also a great place to get a guy dog. They make you feel like family. They take care of you from the minute you walk in to the minute you go home and the minute you get back home. I highly recommend this place. It’s my second home away from home.

Excellent organization. I remember the first time I saw their facility back in 1978, it seems like they have grown 10+ times in these 40 years. They do remarkable work in helping people who cannot see. It takes a lot of patience and skill to train the dogs to be peoples eyes. Great work, keep it up.

Ive volunteered as a puppy raiser for leader dogs for several years. From my many visits, I can tell that the staff cars about the welfare and happiness of the dogs and works hard to make sure that each dog is paired with the right person. They make it a point of pride that the person requesting a dog will not have to pay anything or fundraise in order to get a guide dog. They just completed a major renovation and the main reason for this was to make it easier for the dogs to be successful.

In my opinion, the dogs are not properly cared for, and there is not enough transparency in this organization. The puppy I raised was pulled from the breeding program, because her father, Shaq, had a genetic defect. I just found out that Shaq is still being used for breeding, and in fact has a litter on the way at this time. Why is LD breeding dogs with genetic defects? If dogs with this genetic defect can be bred, why was Brinkley not pulled for breeding, in which case she would still be alive? Brinkley Matters.

Due to inbreeding of your dogs whose pups end up w health issues (4 out of 4 in the last few years) and due to NO response to a phone call of a person who had gone thru you many times in the past I wish I could rate your organization a -10.
