Dave offers expert, scientific insight into the intricate systems that keep us on the water, enjoying valuable time sailing. He has sourced, repaired, rebuilt and designed parts for my 1961 SeaScout Graymarine Engine. Every item I have received honestly is hard to put back in the bilge because they are cleaned and rebuilt to museum quality condition. They offer practical solutions when you just need to keep the boat going and also curated advice for a restoration item. I regret every dollar spent with local mechanics who have been inept at best and know that every dollar spent with VanNess supports a trade that is hard to find in todays market.
Never c as called back
Our catboat was built in 1980 and is powered by a 4 cylinder Gray Marine auxiliary. When we purchased the boat in 2008 we found the engine to have transmission problems, so we removed it and trucked it down to Van Ness Engineering in New Jersey where it received a complete overhaul.Since then, it has served us perfectly and without failure of anyserious nature. On occasion, when a replacement part was needed, Van Ness shipped it to us immediately. My dad, who has been a boat owner for more than 50 years, now says without hesitation that he has never found a better engineering service anywhere.- Alan & Randy of Duxbury, Massachusetts
