I would look elsewhere before putting your health in these peoples hands or giving them your money/time.Service by staff (not reception) is terrible. Certain staff members are extremely condescending, uncaring, and will refuse or leave you without medication they put you on that they stated could have dire medical consequences if you stop abruptly.

It is impossible to get anybody at the front desk directly on the phone. Ive been trying to call to pay my bill (which is option 3), and Ive called and called and cant get anything but a recording.

I did not get a job impression from this place because of the therapist. I first had to wait two weeks to see the therapist for the first time then had her cancel on me twice. The first reason was reasonable but the second was not. I do not consider “I’m meeting with a coworker” to cancel an appointment. My mental health has been getting worse and worse and it’s really upsetting and frustrating she can’t seem to take her job seriously. I wasted almost a month waiting on her at this point and it’s not worth waiting anymore. Now I have to start to looking for another therapist. I suggest you look for someone else.

I’ve been receiving treatment at DBH for six months now and I have nothing but wonderful things to say about the practice. My therapist has been immensely helpful during a very trying year and I couldn’t be more grateful. Contact with office staff has been limited due to covid but when I’ve had questions, they’ve been friendly and helpful.

It is impossible to get a hold of the intake coordinator for this office. My ability to make an appointment was delayed 2 months because even though I called multiple times on the 1st of the month to make an appointment, my calls were never answered.

I am a patient at DBH Richmond and my experience has been nothing but positive from all staff that I have come in contact with. When I have called with a problem or schedule change they have been prompt in handling the situation. I just adore Dr. Patel, my therapist, Sheri, Melvin and even the receptionists they all have been so attentive to my needs. Recently I experienced TMS which is used to treat depression and I just cant stop singing its praises. Dr. Patel and my therapist introduced me to it and since having experienced it I feel more focused, happier and more in charge of my life. However, I dont think I would have had such a positive experience if it had not been for Dr. Patel, Diane, Sheri, Melvin and Katie and all of their time, patience, and overall caring throughout the whole process. So to all of them I say THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart!!! 🥰🥰

Dr. Patel is great. I am bipolar and did not even know it until he gave me the the test. I called him constantly in the first few months and he respond within the day. He is also funny and so smart. IEnjoy seeing him. He is very compassionate. I have never seen a psychiatrist before.. I am 64 and have bipolar at 64. Very unusual .

So far the doctor has been great, but the office staff has not been helpful. I had to call the billing department, who told me the office staff don’t have time to call my health insurance to verify my deductible has been met. I am being charged for counseling that is supposed to be free. I confirmed all this with my health insurance. Not something one needs to go through when they are already stressed out!

Love my doctor but cant get the office to answer or return calls! I have been on hold twenty minutes this time but they at least answered the phone. Impossible to schedule anything. I have been trying for months... There is no better way to say GO AWAY than what they are doing.20 more minutes on hold then another promise to call back. So I will go away. If they are understaffed they have been so for years and they do not intend on changing! Bye Viv, it was nice knowing you, you were a big help when I could see you.

Loved my therapist, but hated the office staff. They were very unprofessional from the jump. On my first visit they basically accused me of not having the insurance straight... to find out the document they needed was sitting on their fax machine the whole time. It was a very stressful time in my life (hence me seeing a therapist) and the woman at the desk that first day was very unkind. Youd think working at a therapist office would give them some more courtesy and patience. Anyway... I had to stop going there because I moved out of state. Its a year later from my last appointment now and I get a call from a collection agency. Turns out the woman at the desk who told me I was all paid up on my last visit was incorrect. I never gave a forwarding address (nor did they ask for one - they knew I was moving) because I was told I had paid for every appointment. Since I moved I never received any further bill from them. They made no attempt to contact me by phone. They obviously had my phone number on file because they gave it to this collection agency. And now they are charging me a $50 collection fee. I have no problem paying my bill, I just had no idea I owed anything. I wish they had just taken one simple step to give me a call. Also whoever I talked to at their billing company was super rude, but I know thats not on them.

I received a bill from your clinic for an outstanding balance of only $20.00.My issue is that there was only the name of the business listed, NO where on the letter was there a phone number, address, contact person, website, or any means to know what the exact location of your clinic is. This is completely unprofessional for any business to send out communications with no easy way to get in contact with someone to resolve the issue. I am sure that I am not the only person that finds this annoying and archaic in this day and age of advanced technology. Please consider re-vampling your correspondence forms to make them more user friendly.

After nearly 6 months of trying to get medical records for my husband, we are still waiting, with no response from the owner or manager of the practice. Up until this point, my experience with the practice had been nothing but positive. Now that were having an issue and we see how they handle such things, my opinion is very different.UPDATE: After calling relentlessly for weeks, complaining to the BBB, calling a lawyer, then threatening reporting to the VA Dept of Health Professions, the notes miraculously appeared at the office. Our first request for notes was in July of 2018 and the notes showed up at the end of January 2019. Totally unacceptable.

I would not recommend this practice - they are not organized or thorough, and everything felt very transactional.I saw Dr. Little-Harrison for my initial visit, came back to test with a different individual, was given my results at a third visit by Dr. Little-Harrison (who was very sweet and comforting to talk to) and then I was told that A. she wouldnt be the one to provide counseling as she typically works with children, B. in order to receive medication, I need to get on a wait list (for 4 months) for the one psychiatrist there seeing new patients and do intake again (more visits, more $), and B. do intake again to see a therapist - even though everything was done at the same practice. I spent several visits divulging personal, sensitive information to someone who wont even be treating me. I cant imagine how someone TRULY struggling would have the motivation to continue to seek help after being handed off in so many different directions.I was told Id receive a detailed written report of my diagnosis (that I was given verbally in person on March 27, 2018). It is May 9, 2018, and I still have received no written report, and have gotten no further in my pursuit of managing my ADHD and anxiety than my initial visit at this practice in March. But they DID get $700 out-of-pocket from me, and while I didnt receive my written report, I definitely received the bills!

I have been seeing Dr. Ashvin Patel, going on 7-years now. He is by far the best doctor I have had and that’s why I remain as a patient in his office and for so long. He listen and creates individualized-treatment plans according the patients needs and wants, and really try’s to provide the best treatment possible for his patients, along with alternative options. Anytime you have prescription issues, say with a relapse in health-insurance or medication not working, he always finds a way to make it work and makes sure his patients do not go without treatment or medication. He has changed my life for the better and I appreciate him and everything he has provided me, everytime I have an appointment with him. He is a great doctor and I highly recommend him to other potential patients.
