I prepaid in January 2021for 7 services, including aeration and seeding. The first 3 visits in February, April, and May were fine. However the weed control service did not take care of crab grass. In August I called and asked that the aeration and seeding be scheduled for the week of Labor Day, since we have problems with leaves falling early. I was promised that they would do that. I called again before Labor Day to make sure, and was again promised it would happen. No service was performed. I called the next week twice and was promised that aeration and seeding would performed the second week of September. It did not happen. The third week, we received an email saying they would come on the 23rd. That did not happen! Then we received a text saying they would come don the 25th. Shortly thereafter, they sent a text saying they could not perform the service. I called and cancelled them and requested a refund.I am waiting for the refund, and I will never use them again. They are the worst company I have ever done business with!

Rick Mills is the consummate professional! He was so friendly and knowledgeable about the treatment, my concerns, safety considerations for kids and pets, as well as COVID conscious which made us even more comfortable having him as a technician on our property. Mr. Rick is just the best and Im so glad that hes a part of the community and neighborhood.

Company is all about money. The never returned my phone call. I do not understand a company giving a price of service from Google maps or whatever app they use. Substantial renovation has been completed with the landscaping of the property. I even asked if the price would be corrected with seeing the property. Their answer was unsure. Customer service is not applied to all.

Rick M did excellent job he is the best lawn care specialist. He answered all of our question and concerns. He is very thorough and takes pride in his work.

We selected the Tree and Shrub plan. We were told that rose bushes were part of the guaranteed care. My wife loves her roses but has been ill this past year and could not tend to her roses so we trusted that Tru Green would take care of her precious shrubs and make them look healthier. Lets just say anyone can care for Knock out roses, so the knock-out roses faired better. As for climbing and hybrid tea roses in our backyard well unfortunately Two months into the plan we began noticing that our climbing roses looked like they were suffering from black spot and looked worst than they had looked in previous years. A treatment was applied by Tru Green when we expressed our concerns. A few weeks after their initial application we lost three roses that looked burnt and overtreated. We contacted Tru Green to have someone come out and inspect for a replacement or compensation for the loss since in there agreement they claimed 100 percent Guarantee results. It turns out today I received a call and was told that they dont guarantee roses. Ive spent a total of roughly 400 dollars in three months on shrub care specifically to ensure the growth of our hybrid tea roses, a total of 400 dollars that only killed off three of our rose bushes. I dont believe they were even treating my yard when they said they were because my bushes and shrubs dont look any better than when I tended to them the year before. I have bug bitten spots on most of my shrubs, and there weed control killed off most of my weeds, including good grass, but now the weeds are back as well. I would rate them 0 if I could. I bet if I was a wealthy guy or big business theyd care about my complaint. I will never trust Lawn service EVER again!!P.S. The name of this Company should be Tru Lies. The very least this company could have done was to offer to come out and see the damage and talk to us that would have been the very least of courtesy.

Happy with the team that came out to do my lawn on 4/21/21

I use them in VA and FL and both branchs I work with are great. In FL Ive used them for 4 years. They brought the lawn back after I bought the house. I thought I was going to have to rip the lawn up and start over, but TG over several months brought it back and now its lush. In VA I just started using them and so far theyve been great as well.

Have had issues the whole time I have used them this year. I have not seen any improvement and I have questioned whether or not they have even treated my yard all the way.I will not be using them again

Will call you back to back (every few minutes) and never leave a message. Shady business practices. They refuse to offer written quotes and ramble off numbers quickly so you cant get a clear picture of the value. If you say you need to shop around they just hang up the phone. Claims they are the best at what they do...but clearly they lack in customer service.I would not recommend you hire this company. First impressions are everything.

I like that Kevin Levy Takes good care of my lawn. He knows what he is talking about. He knows what weeds are in the yard by name, what to do to get rid of them, how to keep them away and gives me tips on how to take care of my lawn. I personally think that I have one of the...if not the best looking lawns on my street / subdivision! I take pride in trying to keep my home and lawn looking good! I am glad that he does too! I have tried Virginia Green, Lawn Doctor, and one other that I even forgot the name of. I am with the right business...Tru Green cares....as much as I do!! Thanks for that Kevin!!

They will not cancel your account no matter what. When you call in - it says one hour wait time. They call back and you cant get anyone to cancel your account. They are still billing me. Stay away!

TruGreen is pretty good. I have 27 irrigation heads and they aerated my lawn with out telling me they were coming , but they didnt damage any heads.....

I received a call from Tru Greens Customer Service Division out of Richmond. They told me the tech that was recently at my home doing a lawn treatment noted that all my trees and bushes had bugs all over them and would I like them to do a spray application. I asked the sales rep to provide me with the techs information so I could speak with him and was told no. I asked to speak with the area representative and again was told thats not possible and she hung the phone up. I did get a call back with someone who is familiar with my home. I told them I employ Bartletts out of Charlottesville to care for my trees and bushes and actually there are no bugs running all over my trees and bushes. This is a sales scam! Sales reps calling and lying to their customers to sell services. The only thing I requested from this company in order to keep my business was to fire the sales rep that was behaving unethical. Absolutely not was the answer from a Tru Green executive. I see you posted your response to my review but it does not let me respond further. Your simple standard were sorry for your experience does not cut it. You are employing people that are scamming the public for a few bucks.

Been having service for 7 mo. now and my grass looked way better beforethy started so I canceled the service after they came and aerated the lawn and only did the small front yard and not the back yard and now they will not get paid for there last bill,

My lawn continues to look great. Very little weed issues and Im very happy with the mosquito service as well. The health of my lawn and not having to deal with insects make it more pleasant for my family to be outside.

Not very pleased. Theyve done a poor job managing my lawn care. First year was fine, I actually had someone come to my home and look at yard. It was very early spring and I wanted to aerate and seed. They no itll just die in summer well do in fall and they did. The next year they aerated and seeded in mid-November. Heavily wooded lot leaves already down, a yard where you get them up and next day doesnt look like you touched. Also day before first freeze. I cant believe the tech did, I was not home. I called and they said well do in spring at no charge. I just called about them doing, they said no we should wait until fall. I never talk to the same person twice. Their business model sucks. They have no idea whats going on with my yard and will actually tell me Im wrong while Im standing in yard looking at it. People on phone sound nervous and unsure, they must get a lot of complaints.Im never rude, just dumbfounded by the lack of awareness. Neighbors have Virginia Green, costs more but looks like they get what they pay for and they actually meet face to face with someone when requested.

Harry was wonderful today. His push machine even broke and he knew exactly how to fix it without having the proper tools or pins to do so. He and HIS partner were wonderful. Very nice and Knowledgeable. Hope to have them again.

I spoke to a gentleman Wednesday about possibly using their services and asked if he could call back Thursday after I talked it over with my wife. When he called back I explained we simply chose a local company. After he trashed the local company I told him thats who we settled on and began to explain if they didnt work out I would gladly come to TruGreen with my business. Rudely, before I could get it out, he hangs up on me. I have no doubt TruGreen is good at what they do, but customer service is a weak area from my experience.

TruGreen has improved my lawn considerably. It is now a healthy green color and weed free. I have added the mosquito defense service as well. I love looking at the grass and being able to walk outside in the yard protected from mosquito bites. My lawn looks great!

I got a HECK of a price based on buying a years worth of care at once. I said I would give them the year to see whether it was worth it. Well, I dont need a year. The lawn just went crazy greening up, filling in. Everyone who comes down our driveway asks what we do to keep it so green and lush and I tell them Tru Green just started caring for our property and it was worth every penny!

I filled out a request for a quote online and quickly received a call shortly after. They were completely unwilling to even look at the yard to determine what it needs. They said I HAVE TO sign up for one of their plans before anyone would come out.Now, after looking at the other reviews, I think Ill give VA Green a call instead.

I have recently notice dandelion weeds in some areas of the front yard. My neighbors have noticed that the grass is a lot greener which is good. It seems that the associate spraying the yard sprays most of the yard but not much around the back and side areas because there is all kinds of weeds in these areas. I have not stopped the service because I have liked the results, but there is just some minor adjustments needed. The sprayers have been very polite and will listen to my concerns.

Hugh Hopson #5825 was very efficient and informative about what products he was using and why. He did his job and explained to me why each lawn enhancer was being used. He did noticed that my yard is getting some color now. I should be seeing great results soon. I am very pleased with your services.

Have only had two treatments. So far it has helped my grass. Scheduled service was timely and met all expectations. Tru Green app is very effective and user friendly. I would recommend Tru Green if you are looking to improve your yard appearance.

They killed my lawn, turned my front yard into a waste land, and after 5 attempts to speak to a supervisor they still send someone out to perform more service work..... Lawns appearance has improved and should be perfect with additional treatments. Always get a call from the specialists or an automated call to let you know when theyre coming so that you can remove locks from gates or make other preparations. Good service.

Just tried to get someone to come out and give me a quote and TruGreen refused to do that, instead telling me it costs a certain amount based on my property line from county records. I guess having a 3/4 wooded lot doesnt matter? Neither does the $29.99 coupon I received in the mail, saying they wouldnt honor that. Onto someone else...

I have only been a customer since 2/20/19. The lawn service and the Lawn Specialist have been great. They were courteous, professional and willing to answer any questions I may have had. I rated both as excellent at the time of applications. I rate them 5 stars.I was annoyed at the salesperson and the office! The salesperson came to my house and wrote me a quote. After deciding to go with TrueGreen, I called him to tell him I wanted to purchase the service as quoted. The transaction was done over the telephone and I requested a receipt for my records. After repeated calls to him, I finally received an email from the office acknowledging that I had paid them what was quoted. The first email had the incorrect amount on it. I finally got a correct email. I still do not have anyones signature from True Green acknowledging my payment. All I have is an email which I will keep for my records (as well as all the correspondence and documentation) in the event there is a problem in the future. I rate them 1 star. I am considering using some other Lawn Care service next year.

I live in rural Orange County and was serviced by the Richmond office. We paid $1900. in April. They provided two regular services and our crab grass was again taking over. We requested treatment and were promised three times that they would remedy the problem. As of today, nobody has shown up any of the three times. The first time the tech couldnt find the house. The second time he showed up but nobody was at home. Trugreen apologized and said he should have treated the yard anyway. Today, he just didnt bother to show up. I have asked for and am receiving a partial refund. I want a full refund and will argue that point tomorrow during regular business hours.

My lawn when I first started used to look good. Unfortunately the previous tech guy is no longer with the company. He was AWESOME!! They havent been using nitrogen in the previous applications. Virginia Green does and my neighbors grass is do green. Im not bad mouthing this company, I just want to see improvement in the products and the workers actually stay and do a nonrush job. Ive decided to move on and hopefully the grass will be greener on the other side. Thanks Tru Green for helping us along the way.

I have been trying to schedule an appointment since August 2017, and here it is almost a year later and still dont have an appointment. They took my money and still no appointment! I have called three different times and two of their sales people called but still no appointment some how. The magical manager that will call you back tomorrow never seems to call. I have never had to fight with a company just to schedule an appointment!!!! I was always told customers first.

Overall i am extremely pleased. I had let the service lapse for two years and definitely saw a drop in the appearance of my lawn. When i see one of the service specialists and we are able to talk they are always personable and extremely knowledgeable.

Totally disgusted! For 2 consecutive years, they have NOT shown up to provide service. After cancelling my service last year for not showing up, I decided to give them another shot. The salesman assured me that things were different in 2019. This was far from the TRUTH. After my scheduled appointment time expired, I called the company. Supposedly, there was a malfunctioning hose on the truck. after it was repaired, they had issues with the truck. No one ever took the time to call me. POOR customer service. I cancelled again. Very disappointed. My lawn looks worse this year than last year. My grass was burned after last application too. Customer service could really care less. They offered one complimentary service and that’s it for the $300 I paid for the year, not including aeration. Guess I’ll put sign out on lawn “serviced by TruGreen” so people stay away from them!

I called them to get an estimate on lawn services in Midlothian, Va. They have charged my credit card three {3} times for a service that I did not authorize. One of the major problems is that they hire staff that are incompetent and ignorant. Every time you call them they will not give you a name of a supervisor or their contact information. I would stay clear of this operation.

I was really impressed with their first visit and they were really willing to answer all my questions and provide service as needed. TruGreen is a great company to work with....

My specialist David Snellings went the extra mile. I had left a bunch of tree limbs on the grass and had forgotten he was coming to treat the lawn that day. He kicked them into a pile so that he could spray as much of the lawn as possible. I appreciated that good service.

Terrible experience we have had with this company this past year! We have had to constantly call them back for a second time for nearly all of the services we have asked them to perform. They have never been able to conquer our modest weed population, while va green had our yard perfect just last season. Va green is worth the extra cost! TruGreen also left piles of dirt, leaves and other debris all over our sidewalk, patio and newly sealed driveway when they came out (for a second time) to aerate our back yard. We will never recommend this company to anyone!

These guys always come through. The basically saved my lawn from total destruction due to poor maintenance from the previous owner of my house. They are always willing to give advice as well as doing the work. Im a customer for life.

Im not always home when my lawn is serviced, but when I do get a chance to speak with the specialist he has always been responsive to my concerns and was able to answer my questions. I have been a TruGreen customer for about 4 years and my lawn has never looked better.

This company uses a bait and switch business model, refuses to honor quotes, and does not answer email of return phone messages. I told them to cancel after the first year, it made no difference to the lawn, but they continued to provide service, never responded to calls, and put the bill into collections!!!! A bill for a service they were never given permission to provide after the initial year!!! Very poor show. Beware of these crooks!!!

Richmond VA, worst service providers for lawn care! In April 2018 a call was placed to Cancel lawn care services, due to lack of customer satisfaction. The service provided was not effective in killing even the basic weeds from spring time. The lawn had previously been service in 2017, just shortly after the installation of new sod. The original service contract was for 4 applications and was paid up front. In the spring of 2018 I was billed for services rendered in March and in April without renewing the contractual agreement. Services were paid anyway, and service was promptly cancel due to poor results. The service center then contacted me and said that they had customer service satisfaction guarantee and would reapply, company then posted singage in yard in May that application was complete and billed me again for that application on May 8. I was then contacted a couple weeks later by the company wanting to schedule another application, to which I replied that the service had been canceled. Even after the most recent lawn care reapplication I still had the same basic weeds (have pics). Continued to get billed and contacted the Richmond office in August and was told the bill would be removed by a customer service representative (have phone records). In September 2018 received credit collection letter and again contacted the Richmond service center, customer service representative states that they have no transcript from prior conversation. Last transcript was from May stating the most recent cancelation of service, they had no record of the customer complaint and reapplication event. Stated that they would put in request to have Service Manager contact me. Still waiting for them to correct issues!!!!

I appreciate not having to keep all the proper chemicals, pesticides, and fertilizers for my mature landscape. This service works very well for me!

Tru Green has been a good experience for me. There are reminders when I am scheduled for a visit. Many opportunities for lawn improvement are provided if I choose to select. The servicemen are on time and friendly.

Great service with the trees and shrubs. The Scale insects are bugs from hell! They can ruin your shrubs fast! But my tech is doing great job rescuing my shrubs. Txs a lot TG! Way to go Dave!

I couldnt possibly be more disappointed. The initial TruGreen evaluation showed I desperately needed aerating and overseeding so I signed up for that plan. That was in May. So first they came out with weed killer, killing what little green I had. So I kept calling about when they would seed. July, August and September passed. (everyone else was seeding) I kept calling. Finally in November they seeded, by which time it was far too cold for seed to germinate. Now, at the end of December after paying them for 8 months, I have a muddy yard with minimal grass. And they kept calling wanting payment for the aerating and seeding. They finally fessed up that they started the seeding process too late. What a bunch of idiots. Ive now cancelled. Nice lesson: several hundred dollars and 8 months later, and still no decent lawn.

TruGreen Treats you like a number. They don’t care to take personal interest in your yard. The field crew though different every time, each took less than 4 minutes from the time they pulled up knocked on the door, waited for no answer walk back to their car, “spread fertilizer” on 5,000 sq feet (front, back, and sides of my house), return to their car write sorry we missed you slip and dip out. Now if they can actually spread 18lbs of fertilizer and do all that in 4 minutes....To top it off I asked for a soil sample upon their first visit before spreading fertilizer to get a benchmark...which they said would take 2-3 weeks which is understandable. It’s been 5 months so the last time they called to schedule a fertilization I told them not to come back until I get the soil sample results so I know how much lime to put down....anyway I haven’t heard back and that was almost 2 months ago...like I said you’re just a number and they don’t care. Do yourself and your local small business a favor and get local small company to service your yard. Your results and satisfaction will be much better. The only TruGreen they care about is the true green in their pockets $$$👎🏼

Terrible customer service, bad results. Purchased aerating and seeding service. They didnt show up on the day they were scheduled to come. Rescheduled for them to come out another day. When they got there they said they couldnt aerate my lawn, because it was too steep. However, they did two years before. They said now they have new equipment that will shut off. Now I remember why I cancelled their service Two years ago and went elsewhere. A service manager was suppose to call me within 48 hours to see if they could do something else to help me. Its now been 4 days.

After about a year of service my yard is about 25% grass and 75% weeds and bald spots. I’m talking huge bald areas front and back. What a waste of money this has been! They have come back a couple times over the year in response to complaints... but can’t get the area supervisor out to evaluate now. He was supposed to look at the yard a couple weeks ago and then call but never did. I can grow weeds for free thank you very much.

Horrible experience. The only reason why Im giving TruGreen got One star is because I could not give them ZERO. Went ahead and prepaid for the year. Got the call Sunday that a tech would be out Monday 4-10. Locked the dogs in the garage. Tech never gave a courtesy call. Showed up when I was running errands and sprayed the front yard and left a note,heard dogs and did not spray backyard. I called to reschedule for the following Monday and advised Trugreen that the dogs would be locked up. Samething happened 4-17. Called today, 4-18 and cancelled. If you are in Central Virginia, save the headache and use someone else!

TruGreen has to be the worst company I have ever encountered when it comes to customer service. This is the second year we are using this company and our lawn looks no better than the neighbor that just cuts his grass ever so often, and we have a sprinkler system! I have called TrueGreen to try and get a manager to call me back and discuss our issues and this is the third time, I am trying my best to give them the benefit of the doubt and to fix the problem. We have brown spots every where, after they came out and sprayed something that is now killing our lawn. It has been three days and i have called 3 times and still waiting. I think i will take my business to a company that actually cares about customers that pay their full contract prices up front. Its almost like they get your money then they dont care! I will not recommend TrueGreen to anyone!

Their first application did not kill the weeds. After complaining, they reapplied a more powerful chemical that did the trick in 24 hrs. The first year was as expected with some visible results. The following year they did not show up until May (long after dandelions had sprouted) - when questioned they said it was due to soil conditions. I find this hard to believe since all my neighbors with Virginia green had received two applications at that point. At that time I decided to cancel the service for the following year. I was then turned into collections for services that had been PRE-PAID. It took 6 months to get it straightened out because none of their branches talk to each other. Complete nightmare. Never again.
