A state inspection was the only reason for my stop at Bon Air Shell however the quality of the visit led me to want to leave a review. Bobby, Keith, and Chris were very friendly and helpful. The inspection was completed very quickly but I managed to spend about half an hour with these guys just chatting, I definitely recommend!

I was there for an inspection, and was failed for brake pads and told I needed a new battery. I went elsewhere and was told this wasnt true :(

I had an appointment to get my automobile inspected at 1:30 I was there at 1:30 within five minutes they had my automobile being serviced they were prompt they were polite it was a great experience not having to wait for hours just to get something simple done I will give their from now on any car repairs I need

Called looking for gas during our gas shortage. They didnt have any.

Beware .you be ripped off here.dont believe them.they ruin your vehicle.dont believe them if they tell you your car needs this and that. My car was burned after they changed transmission oil.I just stopped for a simple tune up and they deceived me and told me I need to change transmission oil. They caused me thousands dollar damage

Major rip off. Do NOT use Bon Air Shell. They charge for unnecessary services. Buyer beware. We were charged $100 for flushing lines on my daughter’s car that several other service places told us was not necessary. They also take your inspection sticker off immediately before even looking at car. Had over $1500 of work done on my car in December 2018. Car was inspected until May of 2019. AFTER car was towed in and repaired, and i paid $1500,, we asked to have a new inspection sticker put on. AFTER fixing car they found an ADDITIONAL $1500 worth of work needed to replace inspection sticker WHICH WAS ALREADY GOOD UNTIL MAY 2019. Now i cannot drive my 1994 Honda because it isn’t even worth $1500 and I cannot afford it. I was SHOCKED that they did this to me. Common courtesy should have applied here. I would have been able to drive my car 6 more months. Now I am without a car thanks to the greedy owners of Bon Air Shell. And this occurred 5 days before Christmas. Criminals. Heartless. Fortunately I have found honest, trustworthy mechanics at Forest Hill Garage. They reviewed the receipt from Bon Air Shell and confirmed we were ripped off on my daughter’s car with the flushing of the lines on a newly purchased 2016 car from Carmax. CONSUMER BEWARE

Wonderful older gentleman running the shop, and a very kind and quick-witted/fast younger boy running the inspections. It took 15 minutes, was smooth as hell, and I received some excellent war stories while I waited. Take the time to talk to the manager or at least let him tell you about his time in Richmond and what he has seen. It was a wonderful experience, speedy service, and came with great stories. Theyve earned my customer loyalty, for sure.

Strong Customer Service, Honest on repairs and on Inspections. We have had cars looked at prior to buying and selling. Had a warranty issue with a part, and they gave us a break on the labor. Good Experiences all around

Had to get my inspection TODAY, because it was waaayyy overdue. Brought it in about 9, and it was ready about noon. Great price!!! The staff is so friendly, courteous and willing to go the extra mile. I will definitely seek them out first if anything else needs to be done to my car.

Super Great Service Team! I first stopped in because my hood was stuck and would not open. Two of the gentlemen worked on it and had it open in 2 minutes--they would not take a cent from me. I have been coming here for over a year now and am recommending to family and friends--especially all my lady friends! Being female, it is both refreshing and lovely to deal with skilled, honest, and fair professionals !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Will not take my car there again!Called and made an appointment for the following day for inspection.Told them that I would leave my car there while I was work, 8:30 to 5:00.I called around 4:00 to make sure the car was ready. Was told that they did not get to it and that it probably would not be ready that day. I told them that I would pick it up anyway and that I was not happy that they did not have the inspection done when they had my car for almost 8 hours with an appointment.I got a call around 5:00 to let me know that my car inspection was rejected because that my headlight THAT STILL WORKS had potential to not be as bright because of moisture in the headlight.Sounds to me that they stuck it to me because I complained.

Very nice gentleman, but when I took my car in for an inspection it took more than a day to get to it. They also rejected it, said I needed to clean my headlights? They wanted to do it, but I did it myself and it passed. Very frustrating since my lights worked and my car was clean, but they wanted the headlights polished?? I have owned several cars and never knew it would fail inspection from something like that.

Buyer beware. Expensive gas. Car service left much to be desired. I was told I had a blown head gasket and engine replacement was the best option. Took it to another place and that was not the case. Got an exhaust leak fixed and have been driving it fine ever since.

I have consistantly taken our two vehicles to Bon Air Shell for over 10 years and they still run like new! These guys are very experienced and also posses common sense and integrity. It is tough to find a mechanic that tells it like it is! Thanks gents!

Great service! Went in for a state inspection & they had me in & out on a Monday morning in about 30 minutes. I would definitely recommend.

I stopped there to change the oil, they told me my car needs to change transmission oil too. then after a few days my car stopped working and it cost me 2000$ to fix it., mechanic told me the reason was because these people used used oil in my car. never waste your money here.I called them and told what happened and asked for refund and they just hanged out on me.

Place is a rip off. Refused to give me a quote for a job that shouldnt have been over $500,using my own parts costing $400...finally after repairs done, my bill was $779!!!! They used to be honest and trustworthy, now if you dont use their marked up parts (that they admitted had allotted time built into cost in case they run over Chiltons time frame) making them 3xs as much and then still charge labor on top of all that! Will NEVER take my vehicle there again and have filed complaint with BBB.

Gas is way too expensive. Generally 20 cents higher than the local average. Ridiculous.
