This no kill shelter is a great place to find your furbaby. They have trained staff who have cared for the needs of all of the animals from kennel coughs and vaccinations, spay-neuter and flea treatments to making sure they get the right toys for their breed type. They are considerate, aware and busy! Calling ahead isnt a bad idea as they have limited hours due to Covid.

Wonderful staff And all animals were obviously were well taken care of. Also, very affordable especially given our kitten was already spayed (& we were sent home with her antibiotics so she wouldnt get any infections ) micro chipped & had her vaccines! She was also sent home with her special blanket that is her favorite 🤗 her own kitty carrier & healthy food to give her all the nutrients she needs to grow! I would without a doubt recommend anyone to adopt an animal from this shelter❤

They take such good care of their kitties! They have beds, hammocks, things for them to climb, and space. Just bring a cup of coffee and you can go pet the cats and relax and enjoy each other! They have 83 cats there, my little cousin counted..ha!) They all would love to go home and be your forever friend, so get the word out, as there are a lot to choose from! We also had meet and greet with our dog. We went outside and we went into the good- sized area for the dogs to get to know each other. This was not a good idea, however, because we were not able to get to know the dog. The dogs were running around, so we never had interaction with her at all. It could have been because of the time constraint because we got there close to closing time. That would be the only downfall that I see at this shelter. Everyone was very friendly! They are in need of clay cat litter, towels and cleaning supplies (you can call to get the specifics on what they need). Everything helps to save these animals!

These people are friendly, and patient. We want a small dog. When we arrived, They got the one dog out, that fit our criteria. We could interact with it, without being pressured. Even though it wasnt the dog for us, I felt very welcome there, and at ease. (As apposed to another establishment that we visited a couple days earlier, where I felt uncomfortable.)

This place let a girl adopt a husky telling her it was OK around children and other animals and within thirty minutes of leaving the shelter, the dog attacked my step son. He was taken to the emergency room and had to have 26 stitches put in his face. 9 of those stitches are holding the corner of his lip back to his face. Somehow this Shelter came and got the dog back, and when i called up to there to make sure something was going to happen to the dog, they lady on the phone pretty much disrespected me and had more care for this vicious dog than my 7 year old stepson. Then when I asked her if the dog was going to be put down so this would not happen again, her reply was, the dog will be quarantined for ten days and if no viruses or rabies or anything come back in the blood work then it will more than likely be re adopted. This really pissed me off. I dont recommend this place to anyone. It is a money scam. I dont know who in there right mind acts like a vicious dog is more important than a child. The lady showed no sympathy towards my son, but stuck up for the dog. Unbelievable. I will get something done. Somehow. I am trying to be professional in this post. which is very difficult to do. They will be hearing a lot out of me in the near future. I do not recommend this place to anyone. People please save your money and do not donate to this place. Do your research and get a dog from someone who actually gets to know the dog and tells the truth to you. Not a place that cages up all animals and have no interactions with them. They should have not let this stray dog get adopted without knowing how the dog actually acts around certain situations. When the girl was told it had no issues with kids or other animals, she was taken advantage of. Everyone will hear the story when they see my sons face for years to come. Those scars will last a lifetime so will my feeling towards this horrible establishment.

Would give no stars if possible. Delt with very rude people that apparently have lost touch with humanity being around the dogs and cats so much. (All but one lady) I will give credit where credit is due, they seem to take good care of the animals. I have 7 years experience working with and grooming dogs. Have a great family with two little boys, and a nice house, we went in and met the perfect puppy he was great with my kids. I was asked to fill out the application. Then I hung around for an hour as they did whatever they did. (Not aloud to take the puppy out and play) I was then told they had a lot of applications and they would call me the next day. I called them at 430 to touch base and tell them how hopeful I was to bring him home. They said it would take some time to go through the applications and would know better tom. I called them at 1230 the next day half hour after they opened and Jane informed me they gave him to another family. That my application was denied due to it saying the dog was going to be outside part of the day (10x10x6 kennel for 5 hours). The other family came in before they opened and they let them adopt the puppy. If I would have been informed of this issue with the application I would have had no problem with the puppy staying inside, instead of communicating their concerns they preferred to just jerk me around.

The people who work here are dedicated to finding their dogs (and cats) wonderful homes. The adoption fees are VERY reasonable. Ive had a bad experience at another shelter (and they would not refund my $500). This one will even let you return your pet and refund your money the first 2 weeks if things dont work out. This is the place to go for a pet. And please make an additional donation if you can afford to.

We adopted 2 fantastic dogs from here. Wonderful experience. They even held our 2 dog till we got paid 3 days later. The shelter was as clean as you would expect a nice shelter to be. The people were very welcoming, understanding and showed great love to our dogs and us. We had just lost our furbaby (my little foever love) to sudden severe kidney failure. The Chihuahua was very standoffish with us at the shelter. But I saw the love Britta had for the shelter workers and I knew she would be a great family dog. That actually really impressed me. It showed you guys do more than feed the animals, you love on them. I would adopt from there again. We actually are debating right now to add a 3rd dog and if we do Help the animals is our choice to go get a dog. Whether you adopt from here or not, please donate!

I even hated to give it a 1. It was terrible. We went to look a specific dog and when we walked in it stunk the lobby was filled with cages of cats on top of cats. They were talking to customer with food in their mouths. They insisted if a dog comes in with siblings that all siblings must be adopted together. They are not devoted to giving the animals a good home. Even their adoption app is not about the conditions the animal will go to..humane society of preble county was awesome. Clean, exteremly nice and we felt like their love for each animal was worth the application and interview to make sure their babies go to a good and loving home. Ill never go or recommend help the animals it was a terrible pound not a rescue.

Under-appreciated and over-worked, but the workers and volunteers here are real heroes. I browsed the thorough web postings and profiles of cats they had available, chose a very unique looking male (ugly to some, awesome to me ), filled out an adoption form, and within a few days, met my best bud. On pick-up day, I was led to his colony-cage, and let in. He came right up to me, sank his claws into my kneecaps in a friendly manner, and was almost eager to get into the carrier for the ride home. Also, a generous donor had covered half of his adoption fees so that in itself was a huge bonus. I cant recommend a shelter animal enough, theyve been spayed or neutered, have up to date shots and are in generally good health, and on some level, seem to appreciate that they have a great home to go to. A year later, he still meets me at the door when I get home, keeps my feet warm at night, and pats me down if I hit snooze too many times for his liking. Donate if you cant adopt, its for a very, very good cause.

My boyfriend and I went to an adoption event in Indy and my boyfriend found a dog he liked. I had a bad feeling about it but he got it anyway to give it a try. We had this dog for less than a week and concluded that this was not the dog for us. Its just like how not all people get along with each other, we just didnt mesh well with this particular dog. We were told if it didnt work out they would come pick her up for free. We decided to drive her back ourselves because it was our mistake to get her. So we drove an hour there and an hour back. As soon as we got in the door they were extremely rude. They work with animals everyday they should know better than anyone that some just dont get along with everyone and its not anyones fault. Also she was going on about how harmful it is to the dog which I dont agree with. A weeks vacation never hurt anyone and like I said its not like we even got along anyway. The only reason i am giving this bad review is because if the rude service we received in returning the dog. I truly hope that dog finds a wonderful home but it just isnt with us.Will not be doing business again.

My parents just adopted a small dog on February 2, 2017 named Scout & we are all so happy with this new addition to our family! He is such a great dog!! The women who worked there were VERY helpful & when my Dad picked him up they gave him some dog food and sold him a nice harness and leash. My mom said the women there really liked Scout so we wanted to let you guys know that he is doing VERY well. He healed really well after being neutered (which the shelter provided) and he has a great time running around playing in our fenced yard, we keep the door open during the day so he can go out whenever he likes & have gotten him lots of bones & toys! He sleeps with my Dad on a king size bed so hes really loving that! He has grown to really get along with my toy poodle, theyre becoming little buddies! Thank you guys for blessing us with this wonderful little guy & thank you for all your help!

So I went with my cousin to check the place out and pick out a dog on a saturday. He became attached to a dog named Archie which supposedly had been there for over 6 months. He got really excited to adopt him, filled out the app and was told he should be able to pick him up by Tuesday. Tuesday came and they had given the dog to someone else. Giant crock of BS no doubt. And the place is pretty disgusting. I know that most shelters have a bit of an odor but this place smelled like they threw cheap cleaners over the mess and just let it go. My advice, adopt somewhere else.

I have volunteered here for the last year and love the dedication the staff has towards its animals. It is a no-kill facility that does not euthanize for space, and adoption fees are reasonable too. The dogs get to go outside a few hours a day and are socialized in play groups and with volunteers. The cats live in colonies that people can go into too not cages. They try really hard to get the long term animals adopted out and work with any behavior issues and match personalities of the animals to adopters. It is sad though that they cant take every animal in cause they just dont have the space or money. DONATE to them, they do so much with very little.

The people that I have spoke with from the help shelter are the most insensitive and disrespectful people I’ve ever dealt with. I’ve gone through so much stress because somebody stole our cat and about a week before that someone took her collar off of her. Recently from a post the shelter posted we saw that she was there and had been adopted. We simply contacted them letting them know that was our cat ( we have pictures and vet records) and they responded as if they did not care at all. They got their adoption money and that’s all they care about. They weren’t even sensitive enough to just let the new adopters know so they could make their own decision. Anybody that has a pet knows the connection you build with them, any sane person would want to help us reunite with our cat. She’s so special to us and now because of the help shelter we will never see her again. This is the one place I thought would be compassionate if anything, but I was beyond wrong.

Docking one star only because we were told a couple non-truths, this dog WAS abused & he DONT love or even tolerate baths, but I can work with all this, I just hate being lied to or feeling misled. People are so outraged with this shelter with recent news about the twelve euthanized dogs, I met MANY dogs there a couple weeks ago who didnt need to be remain alive, unadoptable really; but these folks aint giving up on them, plus they only are doing what they are told, by the board, research before we judge? Also please folks, stop complaining about rude people they (most) volunteer for starters and really, are you there for pets or friends, cause theres other venues for that? If we as a society will make laws against having unfixed pets, unless lisenced to breed, wed eliminate the need for shelters pretty fast, and puppy mills would be a thing of the past. When it comes down to it, I saw folks doing their best with the poor situation at hand. I am outraged that they made a pawn of a worker or several workers over a board decision, come on, the workers do what they tell them or they dont get to be there for ANY of the animals which they have come to feel responsible for... Humanely euthanize a couple dogs to get to keep helping hundreds? What would you do? Whatever youd do people would judge you so you couldnt win for losing.
