If I could give this place ZERO stars I would! When we originally picked up our car it smelled like stale smoke. We immediately told the attendant and she said she would note it. We would have requested a different car but we had already been traveling for 12 hours and we just wanted to get to Lake Tahoe As we drove down the road we could hear the brakes grinding and the steering was very stiff like the alignment was off. We tried twice getting through to someone and have not heard back. Fast forward to now we are desperately trying to get out of SLT as the wildfires are spreading. There is ash in the air and it is quite scary. Our hotel is refunding us as well as our cancelled kayak tour and we are able to change our flight. HOWEVER, I have been trying to get through to Alamo for the last 5 hours and no one seems to be able to help me change my car rental to be dropped off in San Francisco. I am SO disappointed and not sure what we will do. I even called the airport and they gave me two separate numbers and the phone just keeps ringing. I will NEVER EVER rent from this place again!

My family of six made plans to vacation at Tahoe. I reserved a van a month in advance and prepaid. We were suppose to arrive Sunday afternoon. Due to a plane delay we did not get to Tahoe until Monday evening. I called Alamo to let them know we would pick up our reserved van a day later. I was told that would be no problem. When we arrived and went to get our van I was told they were completely out of vehicles. I showed him my confirmation. And again he said we are out of cars and I cant help you. I ask him what we were suppose to do. He said talk to Enterprise. They were out of vehicles but the lady ended up finding us an SUV. She was very willing to help us. Never again will I use Alamo. Bad experience..

We were in Reno on June 13 through 17, check in at the Alamo counter in the baggages area was quick and friendly. We picked up the car just across from the airport, no shuttle riding. Return rental was fast and easy. We will definitely use Alamo car rental again next time. Thank you for your great customer service.

Will probably not rent a car from Alamo in the future. When I arrived at my destination, Reno Nevada, the type of car I paid for was a SUV, and none were available. They offered me a pickup truck or a sedan. I explained to them I needed an SUV. I took the sedan and had to go back the next day to the airport to get an SUV. The SUV had over 37,000 miles. When I put the car in park there was a grinding sound. When I braked the car would sometimes jerk. The tires were in poor shape and to top it off, the battery died. Called Alamo and they sent triple A. When I got my bill, Alamo charged me $55 for triple A.Overall this car should be taken out of service.I understand there is a shortage of vehicles to be rented because of the pandemic but Alamo should never have charged me the $55 for a car that was poorly maintained.

Flew into Reno on a three hour delay. I had an hour drive to my final destination. It was a long day and just wanted to call it a night. I got my car which was so new it didnt have plates on it. The car did have a 30 day registration ticket on the front. I didnt think of anything due to the delay of my trip. I had no problems with the car over the 5 days I had it. On my return to the airport I did get pulled over for not having plates on the car. If I get another car in the future without plates I will request a car with plates before I leave the rental car area.

American Airlines flight into Reno was delayed almost 2.5 hours. Arrived 30 to 45 minutes after Alamos counter closed. Thankfully, Alamo/Enterprises customer service rep had seen our flight listed as delayed and stayed over to make sure we were in a car. I wish I had gotten his name. What he did was completely beyond the call of duty. Deserves a promotion or at least a big raise. Thanks

Reno, NVPREPAID for a Platinum SUV but the car was not reserved. I was given a Jeep Cherokee.Came back the next morning to swap out for what I paid for and management told me he couldn’t do it. Spoke with another manager and he was able to helped me.

The car was fine. There was no review of damage prior to renting the car. Shortly after we left the airport I noticed a huge crack in the windshield. you could tell that the crack had been repaired but failed anyway. I snapped a picture of the crack. A few minutes after I returned the car I received a call that I would be charged for the crack in the windshield. I returned to the rental facility to show them the picture. Although this issue was resolved I feel i was set up to pay for the windshield. Had I not photographed the damage I would be stuck. Is this normal practice for Alamo? Buyer beware! Take photos or a video before you leave for your own protection!

Rented a 2020 Ram 1500 from here during March 28 - April 4, 2021. We had no issues during checkin on March 28, Only waited 20 minutes when we walked over to the garage due to the truck wasnt cleaned yet. Wished they would had told us that inside at the checkin counter as it was 40degrees and cold outside. But once we got on the road. Me & the family enjoyed the Ram truck. Got great gas mileage going thru the hills of Lake Tahoe & Napa country. I highly recommend using Alamo plus they dont take deposits on debit cards which is a plus unlike other rental car companies.

Horrible experience as I attempted to drop off my rental. I have never been to this location, and I could not be provided any assistance on where I was to return my vehicle. I finally located a staff way off away in the Parker structure whom appeared to have an attitude as to me unable to understand the policy when dropping off a vehicle

Had a tire blowout right after picking up the vehicle, about 2 miles from the airport. The 1-800 number was terrible and we were stranded in 94 degree heat with elderly people. We caught an Uber to our hotel and got everyone safe. We returned to the rental counter at the airport and the Alamo Team there was fantastic, especially Fabian. They took care of everything and got us another vehicle. They were wonderful and I am thankful for the great Team you have in Reno.

Good experience with contract, but while trying to retrieve key, and vehicle, I was delayed, and subjected to a hate-filled rant about President Trump being responsible for the Covid-19 outbreak. Last thing I wanted from your employee. Dreading returning this vehicle.Please train your employees to stick with their training, if they have any at all.After weeks of waiting for a phone call, the manager finally called me. Promised me a resolution. Weeks later, I find that he lied about that.Steer clear of Alamo!

During COVID-19 times I would expect the car to be thoroughly cleaned, but it wasn’t. There was candy corn was in the trunk of the minivan and it was very visible so that means they didn’t even look inside. There also was juice or soda spilled in the console, so obviously there was no liquid disinfectant used, otherwise, it would have been wiped out. Now I wait two weeks to see if any of us end up getting the virus after using the car for one day. When I complained it was basically ignored. Very upset!

Got into Reno airport late on Sunday night 9/13. Waited for 25 minutes at the desk for an Alamo rep to show up. The “self service” kiosk was not working. The Enterprise rep ended up going out to track someone down. Finally, the Alamo guy appeared a few minutes later. He gave us our options of vehicles, a Jeep or two much larger SUVs. We stayed with our original booking and opted for the Jeep. Got to the vehicle, opened it up, and the marijuana smell was very pungent. We figured the smell would dissipate if we drove with the windows down that evening. The next morning, the smell was just as bad, so I decided to call Alamo customer service to report it. The rep on the phone was apologetic and assured me they would provide some sort of compensation for the issue. We continued to drive with the windows down for the remainder of the rental period (9/13-9/18), even with the hazardous air quality warnings. Went to turn the car in Friday, 9/18 and was told to speak to the manager about the compensation discussed with customer service. He was very accusatory, immediately asking why I didn’t “just bring back the vehicle.” I told him I had called customer service and it was not offered to me. Instead, a credit was offered, which we were fine with. He again doubled down and said that I should have brought the car back if there was something wrong with it, and acted like he was annoyed to have to take less than 10 percent off the final bill. We will not be renting from Alamo in the future, certainly not at the Reno airport location.

Reno Alamo check in employees were very helpful and polite. I did get confused at 4.45 am drop off location. do you just pull up to return line and leave. I parked in a space. The employee at kiosk i had to knock on window and ask for him to take keys. He did not reply in English. I just handed my keys and left. All and all we like Alamo they are fast, polite and professional. We will remain customersPeppermint

Our flight from reno to Portland was cancelled and rescheduled for the next day. We called to just get a 1 day extension. They told us they would have to charge us for a full week! We already paid $182 and they wanted to charge us AN ADDITIONAL $177!!! Just for one more day!! Thanks for the help Alamo. Just lost my business!!

Rented a GMC Yukon XL for a family road trip with the kids. Picked up the vehicle (due to covid they dont inspect the car with you) Car REEKED of WEED. Not like some kid just toked up before wiping Armor All all over your dash. It stunk like some dude hauled POUNDS of it across the states with Florida plates. I aired it out, sprayed some febreeze, etc but of no use the smell was permanent and permeated our clothes and belongings. Pot is legal in Nevada and that totally doesnt bother me. Weed is fantastic. BUT my children and fam smellin like Trimmigrants of Humboldt County while having some coffee and breakfast at Seattles Best or playing skee-ball at an arcade was funny at first and not so funny by day 7. I called them up before we left and let them know about the smell in the ol Mystery Machine and told them about it again when we returned it but they shrugged me off. Nothing they could do apparently like exchange it before we left etc...so 1 star if youre a family that doesnt own a weed dispensery and 5 🌟 if youre a drug mule. Loads of storage space, removable seats with hidden storage, big enough to sleep in, and has a sweet Bose sound system ✌✌✌

Booked an Alamo Rent A Car via CostCo Travel. PIcked up a Hyundai Santa Fe SUV at the Reno Airport. Got a great rate on a week rental. Check in desk and car pick up was very efficient and I loved the vehicle. It got better gas mileage than any car Ive rented - 40 MPG on the highway and even good in the city. Will rent from Alamo again.

We reserved the Managers Special where you pay the price of an economy car and they assign a car to you when you check in at the rental location. The Alamo counter in Reno is in the terminal and the cars are in the garage directly across the street. Convenient and no shuttle bus - thank you very much! They assigned us a brand new Dodge Charger - definitely an upgrade from an economy vehicle. Checking in and returning the car was fast and it was the least expensive rental in town. Well certainly shop Alamo in Reno and other locations for our future rentals.

Rented a car one way from Reno to San Diego. The counter staff at the airport couldn’t have been nicer. It took only 5 minutes and I was out the door to pick up my car which was an upgrade with moon roof and leather seats! The price was surprisingly inexpensive and no drop off fee. Great experience

I flew in to Reno on business, needed a car whent to Alamo rent a car. I got the economy Sedan, I was handed a red Toyota Corolla. The interior of the vehicle was absolutely repulsive. I turned on the air conditioner and it smelled like rotten shellfish , The driver, passenger, and one of the rear seats were stained with who knows what. Alamo needs to do a better job of cleaning both exterior and interior of the vehicles before they send them out. 👎 My flight was delayed so I didnt have time to fenagle for another vehicle so I had no choice but to drive around in a disgusting vehicle.

I had no issues with the rental. The only thing I was disappointed in this reservation was that I am a member of Abmp and due to that membership I should of had a discount applied to my reservation and it never was applied. When I asked the gentleman that helped me out with the rental, if they could put in the code from the company. He said he couldn’t help with that, and that you guys are not offering any discounts at the time. I called a rep from Abmp to ask them if they knew about this and they said they were not informed of any of this by Alamo. They were as surprised as I was!😔

This experience could have so easily been a 5 star review as they did much of the work leading up to the collapse of the experience.I lost my car keys for the rental while skiing. The support staff was great in their assistance of getting me a vehicle as fast as they could. The vehicle (per policy) had to be towed back to the location of rental and the tow service was great as well. When I sent the car back, it was obviously locked as I did not have the keys. I had immediately communicated, prior to the vehicles return, that there were a few very important items I needed back.Upon return and them accessing the vehicle, mysteriously (despite it being locked and all the items being in the vehicle upon return to the facility) only one of the items was found. My Bose headphones were conveniently never returned to lost and found and no clarity other than if they turn up, we will let you know has been provided.No management has ever been in communication despite numerous requests and communication attempts. If it were not for the initial individual I spoke with continuing to at least reply to my email, this would be a 1 star review, but she does deserve the credit her superiors certainly do not.The lack of admission of any wrong doing on their end is too glaring for me to ignore as the headphones were in the vehicle that was returned to them locked yet they were never found.

It was easy to order a car on line and preregister. When we got to Reno there was no one at the desk and after waiting we found out National was covering the customers. Need a sign to let people know. Easy pick up of car. Gave us an upgrade and enjoyed our 10 days. Had to put air in the tires as this had not been checked.Very easy to hand car back in. Quick check with employee and we were good to head in to the airport. Would definitely use them again!

Rented from Reno Airport with Alamo. Drove from Reno to Mammoth and then down to the LA area. Check in was done in 5 minutes or less at Reno Airport. The woman at the counter was pleasant and helpful. Return at LAX was a equally fast and hassle free and the shuttle bus was readily available - no waiting. Car we drove was not our favorite - but I am not complaining, it is a rental and got us around as we needed (the car was in fine, usual rental car shape, I just was not a fan of how the car itself drove - personal opinion of a specific car brand, that is all that is). The rate was great and I would be more than happy to rent from Alamo again.

Service was great; car was great. I rented from Reno-Tahoe Airport; got a 2019 Volkswagen Jetta. I think it was a Standard class rental. I had already reserved the car online. Processed quickly; didnt insist or try to pressure me into any upgrades. I opted to ensure the tank was full on my return. The car came with a Nav system and was very easy on fuel. At some points, I thought the German engineering was somehow pulling fuel from the air as I seemed to gain range the more I drove. Drop-off was expedient; would recommend.

When I picked up the car the service person at the desk was great. When I got to the garage service went down a bit. They just pressed the unlock button from 30 yards away to show me were it was and sent me on my way. It was in the middle of a parking garage so I couldnt really see the condition of the car. When I go to my destination (30 minutes away) My wife and I noticed how filthy the inside and outside were. My wife called customer service and they were not too concerned with our issue. The best they could offer was to mention it when we returned the car in two weeks. So we had to go wash and vacuum it ourselves.On the upside, the attendant who check me in at Denver International to return it was very concerned about my experience and did everything he could to make our experience satisfactory. He legitimately seemed embarrassed that nobody had cared up to then. Even given this ordeal, I would still rent from Alamo again. They have the most laid back policies regarding mileage and leaving the state, and at the best price.

Rented a Ford Expedition EL. Spare change in several cup holders and one cup holder half full of what looked like pop. Inside of the windshield very dirty. Some kind of cereal, fruit loops maybe, all over the back and under the back seats. Really liked the vehicle itself after I cleaned it out. Had to wait 20 minutes in the garage to get this after waiting at the counter for about 15 minutes. Others waited for their cars too. As far as the new car return at the Reno airport, it really stinks. I realize that it would seem more efficient to return the vehicles to a central location, but its not safe or convenient for the people returning the cars. There was only one person helping us with the return. Too long of a wait. People were stopping and getting out trying to find someone to return their cars to. Then, you have to walk through the traffic lanes inside the garage to get back to the terminal. Whatever you do, drop your family off BEFORE returning your car. Only a matter of time before someone gets run over.

We rented a car for a week, and before we returned it had it professionally detailed and cleaned. We vacuumed the engine, the floor mats, and all the seals on the entire van, but were charged a $100 cleaning fee because we didnt pressure wash the engine.I didnt have time to discuss in more detail since we were catching a plane, but ended up working it out with management later on and were refunded the money.Kind of wish we hadnt had to go through all that but Im glad it was resolved, management was responsive and helpful and the ultimate outcome was a positive one.

Clean inside and out, including clean smelling and the BEST Fit Vehicle !!! That a big plus to ME!Thrifty has the Best Deal of the Day price wise, but the cars are not always ready (20 min wait), clean, and Best fit for driver- I pre-paid for compact or larger and ended up with a vehicle too large for a 5 female. A huge SUV! Worst rental ever

When we arrived in Reno with our early check in we were informed that there were no cars available for us even though we had made a reservation weeks in advance. The people ahead of us had been waiting for over an hour for a car to come in for their reservation. We asked for the phone number for Corporate so that we could express our disappointment with their reservation policy. Well after much aggravation we were finally able to obtain a car. We had asked for a mid-size Toyota Corolla but had to settle for a Hyundai Elantra because that was all that was available. The car was obviously not cleaned. The inside and outside of the windows and the rear view mirrors were so dirty that we could hardly see out of them. We had to stop at a service station to clean them before we could safely travel any further. Even though we checked the tire pressure, the light was on the entire week that we had the car. We drove the car from Reno, Nevada and Lake Tahoe to Corona, California and to many places in between for a total of about 1,000 miles. The car handled well but it did not climb the hills very well in Tahoe because it was simply under powered. We returned the car at LAX Airport and the drop off went smoothly. Based on this experience, we would probably not rent a car again from Alamo.

I was ripped off. The rental price was 189. Service was good, told them 24-27 hours depending on traffic.Ended up being 26.5 hours I was charged 378 dollars, 2 days worth after being told I would be charged by the hour uopn return.Last time I go there. I’m not the type to tolerate complaining to somebody, who then let’s you talk again to another person, and so on, and so on. I just spend my money somewhere else.Nice maintained Luxury car though. Beautiful ride.Company is set up to make you beg for you money back.I’ve already answered the first how were we letter.Now you want me to post it online?Oh well. On 9/11/01, I was traveling by air from Atlante to Seattle, but ended up in Dallas/Ft Worth, with no flights expected for who knows how long. Day 3, I called all of the car rental places to see how much it would cost me to drive home. All of the rental car dealers charged a drop-off fee for one-way travel of $400 - $600, except Alamo. They waived the fee because of the national emergency. Ever since, I have used Alamo whenever possible. That has turned out to be an excellent choice, as I have had nothing but excellent service from them in the years since. I go to Reno at least twice a year, and rent from Alamo. If I am dissatisfied with my car, they bend over backwards to find me something I like. When I have too much luggage, they help me get it to the terminal. They are friendly, considerate, compassionate, and always perform above and beyond. Consistently. I cant recommend them highly enough.

The beginning of the rental went well. When I returned the car, I was greeted by a customer service rep who asked if everything was ok, and if I had good service, to which I replied yes. He emailed me a receipt and I went on my way.When I got inside I opened the email to see an additional $9.40 charge on my card with no explanation. After checking my bags, I walked to the other end of the airport to ask what it was for. The agent didnt immediately know and stated the only thing he can figure is that I returned the car 12 mins late. I told him I wasnt really happy with being charged extra and not being told about it. He said there was nothing that he could do there and I needed to call the 800 number. I said, if you have the ability to charge me, you have the ability to refund me, and there is no reason for me to leave here and call someone since I am already at Alamo. He said its just $10, why are you being difficult. He then asked me to step aside so he could help other customers, to which I replied, no, not until this is resolved, he laughed and then said he would call a manager.When the manager arrived, he told me to hang up with the 800 number as there is nothing they could do, and continued to press the fact that I had picked my vehicle up 10 minutes early and dropped it off 12 mins late. Stating that he would refund me, but wanted to make clear that I did keep the car 22 mins longer than I should have.During all of this, the agent was still trying to talk over me from several computers down...

I had a problem with being charged more than my contracted amount due to an overage in rental time (I was 30 minutes beyond my drop off time). I contacted the customer support area and Alamo straightened out the situation.I also like using the kiosk at the airport rental counter. You can avoid the lines and be on your way. That is a huge plus for me as a frequent traveler. I will use Alamo again. They do a nice job!

My family of four adults traveled from Michigan to Reno NV in Sept. I arranged for a vehicle on line with quick check in. When we arrived to pick up our car, it was quick, and efficient. The Alamo Representative was very helpful, suggesting we sign up for the half tank return option, because of the cost of gas to fill up and we most likely will use less than a half tank while we were in Reno. It was a great suggestion, he was correct and we could return the car without having to fill the tank when we returned the car. He gave us a map of Reno which was very helpful. Thank You Alamo for the great service! We will be back the next time we need a car.

I paid ahead of time so I didnt have to deal with what happened at the Florida Airport where they ended up charging me almost $1,000 more because I was 24...3 days away from my birthday. This last time I didnt have to deal with any surprises and the gentleman at the desk was very friendly and gave good service. My wife and I were in the car and ready to roll in minutes, although I was surprised that I didnt get to choose which Mustang Convertible. Car was clean and the overall experience was very pleasant. Will be back again! Hopefully I can win their sweepstakes for the new Mustang ;)

I had my wallet stolen and there ways no way any one could help me with extending my vehicle or giving me a different way to pay for my extension I already had I thing after another happen and Alamo just didn’t seem to care or be of any help I had already had the rental out for almost 3 plus weeks so I didn’t see why I couldn’t just pay with another for of payment when I asked for an extension I was just very disappointed

Quick pickup and drop-off. Very courteous and efficient staff. Hyundai Santa Fe was ready to go. Car was great. Drove and ran excellent. We drove from Reno to Seattle, so it was important the car was ready to go the distance. No problems at all. Very pleased with the overall experience. Very competitive pricing. Previous Alamo rentals have been good, and its Alamo for our next rental.

When i arrived there was a long line of people waiting for vehicles and one poor young woman taking care of everyone. after 10 minutes or so another guy showed up to help her out. after about 30+ minutes of waiting it was finally my turn. the guy who came to help out, apologized and gave me a free upgrade and said to not worry about filling the gas tank when i returned. it was a tough situation for both customer and employee but they did their best to make things right. im a satisfied customer.

Top 2 worst car rental check in. Went to the kiosk to avisod the line. Spent 10 minutes trying to check in and it wouldnt add the additional driver. Had to wait in line anyways. Paid for the reservation and was sent outside to get the car. Once we got to the outside check in person said it would be a minute. Not one, not 2, but EIGHT people over the course of 25 minutes came and got their car while we sat there waiting.. and waiting. And not one time did the lady explain to us why we were waiting. Finally I was becoming extremely unhappy and when I was explaining to another customer what was happening they decide to tell me oh your SUV class car isnt ready. Pretty sure they could have told me that when I checked in inside and offered me a similar or gasp an upgrade because they didnt have what they let me pay for. Unbelievable. Never again with ALAMO in Reno. We ended up downgrading just so we could leave and begin our vacation. A little customer service goes a long way.

When I arrived the agent was friendly and helpful, they upgraded me to a 4 wheel jeep that was much needed at no cost! They had no other compact cars. Overall, I had a very good experience. The agents at the counter were friendly, but in one instance, I had to wait in line for about 20 minutes to speak with someone. I wanted to use the self-service kiosk, but it required me to speak with an agent anyway because my credit card has my last name spelled correctly with a space between both words, but my drivers license does not allow the space. This caused a mismatch, so the kiosk could not complete the transaction. Otherwise, every other aspect of the rental was great. The car was very clean and was a pleasure to drive.Returning the rental car was also a positive experience. I was able to see someone right away, and they allowed me as much time as I needed to remove all of my luggage without charging me extra even though I went slightly past the time I was supposed to return the car. That was much appreciated!

The Reno airport and the rental car garages are close together. Pick up your bags and walk across the street to the parking garage on the far right. Grab your keys and go! Make sure and check it on line prior to landing and youll have no problems. Hopefully, the guys running the show there will have your keys ready. Drop off is just the reverse process. Enjoy!

I read through the website and was aghast to see that there was a $6.67/hour EXTRA fee if one were late picking up the car. So I called ahead of time and spoke with William, who checked my reservation and confirmed there would NOT be any added fees because my plane would be arriving at my destination hours after the pick-up time! What a relief! And he even let the Alamo staff know at my destination that I was granted an extra hour to pick up the car - in case the flight was delayed! WOW! Great customer service! Ive rented from another company for several years but now Ill switch to Alamo! Thanks so much, William, for the AWESOME Customer Service!

Excellent customer service.....was advised of inclement weather conditions on the drive from Reno to Lake Tahoe and recommended that I upgrade to a 4-wheel drive (which was too costly for me, so I declined). I rented a car for a trip I had to take. When I arrived I was surprised to learn that I had to have a credit card for my rental but I only had a small amount available on my card and the rental was more. The agent that helped me was James @ Reno Tahoe airport he was very patient and helped me get everything taken care of so I could get the rental. After everything was done I started crying and explained my current financial situation and how I was renting the car because my uncle had just passed away it was not a vacation for me. I am forever grateful for everything he did for me. I will be a return customer this is an example that there is still great customer service out there. Thanks James
