We recently relocated to Reno from California after my husband made a career move. Moving is always stressful, especially to a new state. Doing it with a two-year-old is a different kind of stress! Aside from physically moving, we also had to move all of our insurances, retirement from my husband‘s former employer, address changes, etc. State Farm was an easy choice for us, we are lifers! I am writing this review because choosing Jim Tatro as our agent was the best decision we’ve made. He and his staff were able to easily transfer all of our policies, and most was able to be done electronically. Which is a huge win when you have a two-year-old and never know which personality you are taking out in public. While meeting with Jim we learned that State Farm actually has numerous options for retirement/financial plans. He really took the time to learn and understand what our future and current goals were financially by asking us questions no one ever cared to ask before. He gave us a great understanding of our options and educated us tremendously! And to top it all off his office is kid friendly! He and his staff were so patient with our two-year-old and he actually had toys for her to play with while we were going over the important stuff. I cannot express how thankful I am that we walked in his office. If you are looking for an agent I would highly recommend Jim.

Great, friendly customer service that is always helpful for anything that I need

I called my local office after reviewing renewal statement and thinking the premium had gone up dramatically. Jeremy helped read the statement to me accurately. I would suggest the marketing people (at corporate) who design these statements to make it more user reader friendly. But my local office was great.

Incredible service, including on weekends. I have been with State Farm for a few decades and just switched to Jim because I did not experience great service with previous agent (and I had experienced this in the past with other agents in other cities). The experience with Jim over the past 6 months has been amazing. He has pointed out coverage that were included and that I did not realize (eg when renting a car) I could use. In addition we actually did need to file a request to cover damages and his office provided superb coverage. I cannot day enough of our experience thus far.

What can you really say? Jeremy, Jim and everyone at this location are an amazing group. Was recently in a car accident and was worried about my financial obligation to my car loan company and insurance. Jeremy walked me through the process of calling State Farms amazing claims department and less than 2 weeks have gone by and BAM instantly paid off my loan and everything. Jim helped my boyfriend and I to find appropriate auto policies at a great rate! He thoroughly explained how our policies work. Anytime I have inquired about additional coverage (business property, disability, etc), he has promptly responded with a quote. Jims office is always great to me. I always forget to pay bills and they always call me to remind me. Their customer service has saved my butt several times. They are always pleasant.Insurance is a tricky business. The consumer wants the cheapest rates and the best customer service which is nearly impossible to do. Only the best businesses can offer both. This office provides a great balance of customer service and rate.

Very responsive office staff, they quickly handle any changes I make. Enjoyable to work with. I often get mail promising better pricing, however, I have compared prices several times and have never found another company that can give me a better price for equal coverage. I continue to do business with Jim Tatros office, even after we have moved to another town, due to the excellent service and value I receive.

My boyfriend and his family had had Jim for years as an agent. About a year and a half ago changes happened within the family and my boyfriend and I bought our first home effectively separating insurance policies from his familys original account. Since the switch, they have never been able to keep the policies straight and there were constantly issues with coverages and whose name was on whose policy. We were told by one of his workers State Farm was dropping all of our policies within the month. Panicked, we began making other arrangements for coverage. I called again to confirm dates only to find out we hadnt needed to make such hasty arrangements for policies. While Im in no way blaming the office for State Farms decision to drop us(I had two incidents in 2 years and State Farm wasnt having that) the way they handled the situation was less than stellar. They cant keep their records straight and blamed it on each other as to why this was happening. If you are looking to go with State Farm, I recommend choosing another agent.

Moving to the area so asked for a new quote. One of Jims employees gave me one that was 30% higher than the same coverage. when asked him about the increase he then asked me to give more information about my wife and I. I found this odd, why didnt he do all he could to give me the best quote up front? This employee was very courteous but then told me he had been on the job only 5 months as the reason he did not do all he could to give me the best quote up front. This sounded like BS to me since this had to be part of basic training. The employee was always very courteous and did apologize.I asked to talk to Jim and finally did the next day. Jim apologized and told me he would set me up with a new agent. He also was appreciative that I took the time to let him know the problem. I said fine. This was 5 days ago and have not heard a word from Jim. As their adversting jingle goes.. LIKE A GOOD NEIGHBOR, STATE FARMS IS NOT THERE. Well, not quite like that.I expect better service than this even at Wal-Mart. But service is what state farm is supposed to pride itself on. Im not upset, just disappointed and annoyed that my time was wated since I always received great service from other agents. He even told me his office was in the top 1% of state farm office and got so many awards. Huh. Not my experience.I did get another quote from another agent in the area. It was for $8 less per month, or $96/year than Jims agent offered. This is not a major transgression but I just felt like I was being patronized especially by Jim. Just do your job right the first time and without apology- thats all I ask. But this is not worthy of a terrible rating I guess I just feel the bar for State Farm should be higher than most businesses and insurance companies since it is what they brag about.Anyway, best of luck to them. Just calling them like I see them.
