Overall, they have some really good materials that you can use, but I didnt have the best experience with them. If you pay for Altius, buy a package that involves groups sessions. I think that makes them a more attractive choice as they have a boatload of material to study from, but there are quite a few mistakes and some of the material is outdated (still references 2015 scoring system).My experience with their group sessions and study halls were not great. It took me two weeks (missing classes) after emailing my group session people (as well as my personal tutor reaching out to people) for me to get a working link to join. No teaching or explanation occurred in these sessions, they put 30 people in a Zoom and the tutors read off the correct answers and werent able to explain any further. Once again, the material is pretty good, but you can read the same explanation on your own and watch another companys video if you need extra help. This made group sessions not super great during a time in your life where prep time is precious.When they added more group sessions my personal tutor signed me up for two different classes that had less students and would likely have been more beneficial. I once again never received the link to join the Zoom. I even saw my personal tutor put in my information! Ive heard this has happened to multiple people.Basic: Pros I got lucky and had a super amazing and caring personal tutor! She was the only positive interaction I had with a person in the company. The book is okay, and quizzes and exams are helpful!Cons you spend a TON of money for classes where you clearly are not valued, and the focus isnt on helping you to succeed.Purchase exams and quizzes and a set of books and youll be just as successful for a quarter of the cost:)

It’s rare to find a test prep company as invested in their students as Altius. The evidence is in their meticulous and fool-proof program structure. They help demystify the MCAT and teach you skills that will not only be useful for the exam, but a career in medicine in general. The success team does a wonderful job of making sure that students feel supported at every step of the way. The results of their program speak for themselves.

They assign tutors who have zero experience, so it’s just luck if you get a good one. It’s a complete waste of money because the curriculum is not anything special. I would have just bought practice tests if I had known what their program was like. Their management is also extremely rude and it seems like a cult. If you decide to ignore my warning, do not get pressured into their more expensive packages. And ask your tutor to show you their MCAT score. Make sure you do not have any adverse life events that push back your mcat date because Altus will refuse to let you do the program at a later time. Pretty messed up...

I have used Princeton Review, Next Step, and Altius. Altius practice tests were by far the most beneficial for me to achieve the score that I am currently happy with. Their tests are difficult but this is good because by the time I got to the AAMC material, it was easy for me to pick out the necessary information I need from passages/questions. Altius Test Prep is a solid choice and I highly recommend their MCAT products and program. I am overall pleased with their MCAT Program! I kept pushing my test date back due to COVID and life circumstances, but they are understanding, patient, and willing to work with you to get you the score you want! It is worth the investment, especially if you dont know where to start or need that structured guidance. If you also compare other programs, they have the most reasonably-priced MCAT packages that includes generous tutoring hours. Mr. Muir, my instructors, and my tutor are all awesome and they want you to succeed. They will give you the tools, but it is up to you to still put in the work like with anything in life! This is not a lecture-based course, but more like a group-based learning and uses evidence-based techniques that work to improve your learning. The program doesnt just help you for the MCAT; it also prepares you by developing/honing the skills and habits you need to succeed in the future. I could not thank them enough for this!

Altius provides an array of MCAT prep, from practice tests to full courses. What I liked most about Altius were the descriptions given in the answers on the practice tests, I felt like I truly understood the concepts during review and that knowledge prevented me from choosing the incorrect answer on many practice tests moving forward. The downside is that I stumbled upon Altius towards the end of my MCAT prep, I’m confident that I would’ve scored even better had I used Altius from the very beginning. The value for the price is great! There are also many options to try out the material or even meet with a mentor for discounted rates to see if Altius will work for you. I first heard of Altius from a friend of mine in Undergrad and at first was skeptical on how that program was and if I really could improve my score from where it was. I just recently finished my Altius program and I can say that their methods are solid. The course is rigorous and there is work that definitely has to be put in but their methods and approach to studying is solid and similar to the approach of studying in medical school. I would highly recommend this course if you need to have structure and want to experience a reputable program that has the stats to match their words.

The prep sessions were like open study halls were you can ask any questions relating to the MCAT and med school applications. The tutor, Stuart Fisher, was very professional and willing to answer questions in a way that helped me understand the concepts better. I only bought the 10 practice tests and I was pretty unimpressed by them. The main reason was because every test I took (all ten) had a lot of typos, repeated entire paragraphs, or asked questions primarily meant to trick you rather than assess your understanding of the content. Some people might like that but for me, it just confuses me more.Initially, when I was trying to decide how to study for the MCAT someone reached out to me from altius wanting me to buy their gold star package. I asked for a lower price, they said no, I then asked if they were going to lower their prices at all later on, he told me no. Sure enough, I found out later that they lowered their prices below what they were telling me... So I would be pretty cautious about what they say and be weary of whenever they have a last minute sale on things.I was also surprised with how pushy they were with getting me to buy their products. They would constantly tell me that their products are superior to any other products on the market and that no one can compete with them and that their average student scores a 515 yada yada etc. It got old after awhile. Ultimately, if someone claims to have all the keys to success (especially considering how young they are in the MCAT prep business compared to other companies) I would be very weary when considering the claims theyre making.I think overall this company is taking advantage of students fears and worries of getting a good score on the MCAT by having them pay thousands of dollars for their sure fire solution of scoring well on the MCAT. They may have some decent products but I think there are much cheaper alternatives that you should consider pursuing before throwing away your life savings.

For the price of the courses offered through Altius, you cannot do better. It is a lot of work, but if you dedicate your time to it, you will achieve the score you want! My tutor was personal and cared more about my understanding of the material than covering it all in his timeline. This is a stellar program that I would recommend to anyone!

Definitely recommend Altius, but only if you’re willing to put in the hard work. I loved not having to worry about making my own schedule or finding the right materials. Altius has tons of representative practice tests and mini exams and doesnt waste a lot of time and focus on tiny details. I felt very comfortable on test day about what to expect and how to do well, and I did. The tutors are great for providing helpful insights and guiding you through the daunting process. I did the Silver program and didnt feel like I needed any more, but I am also a fairly independent learner.There is a bit of a culture of our way is the only way to do it and if you dont you will fail, but to be fair their results are proven. There are some typos/miskeys/errors that they are planning on fixing this summer and occasional website crashes etc. But overall, great preparation.

Just about to start my program and so far would definitely recommend. Customer service has been fantastic and willing to answer any of the questions I throw at them. If you’re on the fence about getting involved/started with Altius don’t be, very relaxed experience this far.

I found the practice test Altius offers were much harder than the test on test day. I felt well prepared after taking many full length exams and many other mini practice exams. The book is has been synthesized to include the most relevant information to help you ace the exam.

I would highly recommend MCAT studying with Altius. I have tried other self studying programs before, but never really felt like I fully understood the information well enough to be tested on it. Altiuss tutors and group sessions really helped me conceptually understand what I was studying, rather than just memorizing it, and Ive noticed a massive improvement in the number of questions I can answer correctly.

There are many red flags with this company that I experienced as a student, as a tutor, and as a supervisor. In my opinion, the company is run more like a used car salesman lot than a premier MCAT company. The management largely consists of marketing individuals who have no experience in taking the MCAT or never earned a 90th percentile themselves. My immediate supervisor never received a 90th percentile on the MCAT, yet was in charge of instructing other tutors on how to get their students a 90th percentile.90th Percentile GuaranteeThe company claims to offer a 90th percentile guarantee, a guarantee that I and many others chose Altius for. However, within the 90th percentile guarantee policy is that it only applies to certain program offerings. Additionally, it states that its 90th percentile guarantee is up to a score of a 513 or a 12-point increase from a student’s first FLE. I will tell you that most students score below a 500 on their first exam, getting nowhere near a 90th percentile (514-515) unless they score a 502 or better. The only time a 513 has ever been a 90th percentile benchmark was during May 1, 2016 – April 30, 2017. The 513 represents the lowest possible score ever to have reflected a 90th percentile.TutorsThe company implies that they will provide a 95th percentile tutor to their students. While certainly that may be true to an extent, I’m here to tell you that many students do not get a 95th percentile tutor. You may not even receive a tutor that scored a 90th percentile. The company often makes exceptions for prospective tutors that are near the flawed 513 standard, having hired tutors below a 513 by 1-2 points.I would later learn that my own 1-on-1 assigned tutor had a mere 85th percentile on his MCAT-2015 exam. I would learn that this was not an isolated event, identifying several more tutors who did not have a 90th percentile. In one instance, a non-90th percentile tutor received in excess of over 8-students.I would strongly advise that all students in the program ask their tutors to provide proof of their scores by having them log into their AAMC account. It is not enough to trust the word of the company nor of the tutor.Inaccurate COVID TestsAll of their shortened COVID-19 exams are hyper-inflated by 3 points, given that if you were to zero them out, it would return a score higher than a 472 (the lowest MCAT score possible). The company was made aware of these issues shortly after they were offered, providing a false sense of progression.ClassesSince I’ve been with Altius, the company has shorted students of classes that are part of their paid program package, anywhere by 1-2 for each class type. If you’re a current or former Altius student, I I would recommend comparing the advertised offerings on their site to your class syllabus.Additionally, a considerable portion of their extra class offerings include re-used materials from their practice exams.ReviewsMany of the reviews are from current or former tutors themselves. The company has asked tutors to leave a review as a “requirement”, offering up to $25 in gift certificates as an incentive. So shady is is this company, that it has essentially been banned from advertising on Student Doctor Network for repeated violations.StatisticsThe statistics Altius posts on their website unfortunately cannot be verified. From my experience, I suspect its significantly based on cherry picking data and selection bias. I would take their claims with a grain of salt.My TerminationWhen confronting my boss of these issues and others, I was told these were merely “isolated mistakes” and that I needed to “shut up” about them. When I pointed out that telling me to shut up was unprofessional and that I was not the one taking students money, he quickly proclaimed that my contract was terminated. My documented complaints of these issues were quickly censored or deleted.

I love this tutoring service! I received free, group MCAT Prep and could not be more grateful for the experience. Due to COVID everything was transitioning and it was a hectic time for everyone, but Altius stepped up to the plate and offered free tutoring. I registered for the September COVID-19 official MCAT and turned to Altius after many recommendations from friends and a yearning to explore this companys tests after my first attempt in 2019.Altius tests prepared me exceptionally well for the COVID-19 version of the MCAT, although the normal versions were available for a very affordable price compared to other companies. The science sections and their thorough explanations helped me uncover the true rigor and critical thinking skills that helped me approach the MCAT more confidently. Especially, the Psychology and Sociology sections questions and well-explained answers helped me reveal my weaknesses and cover any and all content gaps. After taking 7 practice tests over 2 months, I took my MCAT and scored a 94th percentile, with a 100th percentile in Psychology/Sociology. Even today I am very grateful for their practice tests and thorough explanations for each and every answer.

I was skeptical about using Altius because I didnt know anyone personally who had studied with Altius. But seeing their high averages and bold promises, I gave it a shot and I am so glad that I did. I experienced a massive score jump and made friends/future colleagues from around the country. This is the only way to study for the MCAT.

I did the self study package and it was pretty good. The most valuable aspect was the practice tests which I found to be very accurate, although scores slightly lower than the actual test and maybe a little harder but I think that is a good thing. The material was helpful and very clear about what you need to know but you are basically just getting notes about what you need to know but you have to be creative to figure out how to learn it on your own, which is expected if you do the self study plan. The CARS practice stuff was the worst part of it as it felt like they tried to trick you a lot whereas the AAMC material was much more straight up so I relied on the AAMC material more for CARS and I also really liked the Jack Westin practice . Overall I would say it is a good program but I am glad I didn’t pay like crazy for the personal tutoring and group sessions and because in the end it is your responsibility to learn anyways the tutors just hold you accountable. If you are disciplined enough to learn on your own just buy the practice tests or the self study pack. I ended up with a 514 so I was happy. It is way expensive but I got a Black Friday deal so the self study package was like 70 percent off though. If you are going to do this watch out for deals and discounts to get a more reasonable price

Altius really helped set me up for medical school. t first I bought into the normal test prep companies that most people buy into (Princeton, Kaplan, etc.). However, it didnt work out for me because they seemed more invested in the business than my success as an individual. That all changed once I started with Altius as a friend recommended me to. Not only did they get me a great MCAT score that got me into my dream school at Western University, but they helped me learn how to learn, a skill that I fully intend on taking with me to medical school and beyond.

Altius is a good program for students who need some help with guiding and focusing their studies for the MCAT. It is much more than content based learning, but really tries to focus in on the studying methods and test-taking skills you need to succeed on the MCAT. It doesnt bog you down with extraneous information that isnt needed to master the exam. I recommend Altius to students who are looking for that competitive edge for this exam.

I used Altius pretty extensively in my preparation for the MCAT. They had a very nice deal where they offered 10 practice FL exams for only $100. The practice exams were relatively similar in difficulty to that of the actual exams, and the scores were consistently deflated by about 2-5 points for me (which is pretty good). During the COVID-19 pandemic, Altius was even nice enough to supply us with the abridged COVID versions of the exams for free. My only problem with Altius was that it took me a few days to actually receive my practice exams after buying them, and I was unable to access the exams for a whole day due to some tech error. Otherwise, they were very helpful for studying.

I completed the Altius summer-intensive program and it ended up being perfect for me. It was a harrowing eleven weeks, and I would only recommend it to students who are willing to dedicate their whole entire summer to MCAT success. With that said, I would not have prepared for the MCAT any other way. I was able to dedicate all my time and energy to mastering the test. My access to Altius resources made a huge difference, but even more important were the tutors who helped me along the way. I felt that each tutor I worked with personally wanted to see me succeed. They really went above and beyond!

When I found Altius I was struggling to cobble together a MCAT study plan from advice I found on the Internet. There is so much contradictory advice out there, and now I realize most of the advice would have been terrible for me. Turns out I didnt need to figure out a plan that works for me because I signed up with Altius, and they gave me a tutor. My tutor gave me a schedule and plan. All I had to do was study my tail off. That was an incredibly busy semester for me, and there is no way I would have stayed focused if not for my tutor keeping me on track. This was a lot more work than I expected. In the end, all that work got me a 97th percentile score, and I was accepted to med school in my home state, Texas.

Getting tutored at Altius was hugely beneficial for me to do well on the MCAT. Altius gave me the tools to achieve what I needed to on this exam and pursue medical school. The program keeps you accountable and has many many resources to fall back upon to learn how to master this exam. My tutor was professional and well prepared and was more than just a tutor. He mentored me through doing well on this exam as well as through my application and made sure I was prepared to apply to medical school. The expectations of this program are high, but if one meets them, they will achieve all they need to achieve. Altius in my opinion is a top choice for MCAT prep and offers a lot more than just MCAT preparation and helps students learn how to learn, a skill that is valuable in medical school.

In my opinion, this is the highest quality MCAT prep company out there. If you are looking for an incredibly high test score (mid to high-520s), this is the company for you. Altius guarantees 90th percentile if you complete the program (which will take a lot of work). However, if you dedicate yourself, in my opinion, your score goal should absolutely be 520 (98th percentile) at least. It is expensive, but I think it is well worth it because of the payoff in reduced medical school tuition which will be available to you if you score really highly (more scholarship money/access to cheap Texas schools).

Im so glad I found Altius when I did. The MCAT is a beast, but through the Altius program and with help from mentors, it wasnt impossible. The program is a lot of work, but thats what it takes to do well on the MCAT. I loved the one-on-one guidance and the classroom sessions.

Altius is a great program that will give you the tools you need to get a 515+. I highly recommend it. It is a rigorous program but if you follow it 100% you will crush the mcat!

Altius is a wonderful program if you are a responsible, hard- working student that wants to excel on the MCAT. I had a 20+ point improvement on my MCAT after studying for 6 months, and it helped me get into medical schools across the country. I have been tutoring for Altius for a couple of years now and have loved watching each and every student grow from a MCAT novice to an elite test taker. Definitely worth the time and $ if you put in the time it requires.

Altius is the only program I found that implements modern learning techniques like youll see in medical school. Im in medical school now, and my methods of preparing for the MCAT have translated well. The use of tools like Anki and organization of the program so topics are covered multiple times are effective in helping with memory retention.

They respond to my emails very quickly and follow up promptly with phone calls! The MCAT is stressful so it’s nice to have a good support system to rely on!

Id highly recommend Altius to pre-med students who are hoping to get a killer MCAT score. The structure of the program, specifically the consolidation of material in the Altius book and the 1-on-1 mentoring, cant be matched.

Altius practice tests are among the most accurate available outside of official AAMC materials. Its important to note that their tests focus on the more difficult types of questions that could be asked on the MCAT and as such are more difficult than the real thing. I found this preferable as I would much prefer to use study materials that over-prepare rather than underprepare.

I am so thankful for Altius and what we were able to accomplish together! My favorite thing about their program was how thorough they were, leaving no stone unturned. They provided every tool I could have needed to do well and then some. From my awesome tutor to the study materials and practice exams, every bit proved to be invaluable. On top of that, they kept me accountable throughout the entire process. I highly recommend Altius for any individuals that are looking to perform at the elite level on their MCAT!!

I believe Altius test prep to be the best course out there, as a undergraduate student, taking Altius MCAT prep course completely changed the way I looked at the MCAT and all of my other classes for the better. Later, as a Tutor for Altius I found more and more that the program truly is incredible, but only if you are tough enough to actually follow the program. It is HARD. It requires an amount of consistency and dedication that I have rarely seen followed through. But when my students did follow through and attacked the MCAT with reckless abandon I have seen students go from struggling to keep up in group activities to being my top scoring students for the year.

I cant imagine what it would have been like trying to study for the MCAT without the Altius program. Having an individual tutor along with multiple other tutors was the best thing for me in terms of accountability and encouragement. I wish that I would have had the Altius textbook throughout my undergraduate education because it was amazing at explaining each concept. I also enjoyed the frequency at which I was tested on material through group and mastery sessions as well as each full-length exam that Altius provides. I definitely feel that my score was greatly influenced by my adherence to the program. To top it all off, each of the tutors became an awesome resource for me to improve my application and prepare for medical school interviews.

Altius helped me improve my MCAT score by 20 points (over the course of 6 months). If youre looking for an MCAT test prep course, there isnt a better value for your money. Altius is an incredible program, but its important to note that paying them some money isnt going to guarantee you an amazing MCAT score--they require A LOT of hard work (were talking hundreds of hours of studying). They lay everything out in a very organized way, and their materials prepare you well for the actual way youll be tested on the MCAT. I did not have a tutor when I used Altius (I wish I did), but I know that experiences can vary based on your tutor. With that said, I know Altius truly cares about your MCAT/premed journey. They will go out of their way to help you get a good score, and the habits you develop by going through the program have helped me in my classes and will help me in med school, too. If you are self-motivated and want materials/structure that will expose you to the way youll actually be tested on the MCAT, then Altius is the way to go!

I went through the summer immersion program a few years back and could not have been more satisfied with the results! The program is very personalized and allows you to imbibe material in a way that truly prepares you for the MCAT. After trying a few other prep programs which seemed to inundate me in information, I was happy to find a course that presented material in a way which made it easily digestible and directly applicable. I also loved having a personal tutor to keep me accountable and assess my progress. It was nice to have someone help me along the way and challenge me to continuously better myself. All of these things combined allowed me to walk into the testing center confident that I was fully prepared to get a killer score.

For those that are willing to put in the work and want the structure of a good program with the accountability of having a personal tutor to guide you through your MCAT study, then Altius is for you. I feel like Altius is the best value in MCAT prep with their combination of materials, personal tutoring hours, and Group instruction. If I were to go back and redo my MCAT study, I would choose Altius hands-down. However Altius is not without their flaws. They are a small company that focuses a lot on the sales aspect which can be annoying sometimes. You feel like you are buying a car from a car salesman when you sign up.Their materials also have some mistakes which they are currently in the process of fixing which is great because the mistakes ruin their credibility a little bit. However I believe all programs will have their flaws, and Altius overall does a great job in preparing students for the MCAT, as well as their studies in medical school. I really learned how to study through the Altius program!

I used Altiuss bronze program to prepare for the MCAT. It was hard work, but more than worth it when I got my score. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to get a great score on the MCAT.

Atlius is a good MCAT test program and helped me get a great MCAT score. In my opinion, their program is great for students who are high achieving and want the best score possible and also for students who do well learning on their own. If you want the most extensive books and material where everything is spelled out for you Altius wont be a great fit. If you want a program that spoon feeds you all the info this wont be a great fit either. But I have seen many high achieving students excel in this program and get fantastic scores (520+).I took off one star because they can do better. The book is riddled with silly errors that Altius seems unconcerned with fixing. They arent detrimental to your learning but they are annoying. Also, altius is a relatively small company and their tech shows this, the website frequently crashes struggles ect. Growing pains of a small company are still apparent.

Last year I self studied and only got a 501. This year I did Altius Summer Immersion program in Provo and it was a totally different experience. I recommend any student who is serious about wanting to get a high score look into doing one of their programs. I went in hoping to get a decent score, and didnt think it would be possible for me to get the score that I did. I am an above average student yet achieved an excellent score. I cant speak poorly about Kaplan or Princeton because I never took their programs. All I can say is that Altius practice was great preparation for what I saw on the real thing.
