Wonderful. We took a baby Western Scrub Jay here. They gave us great hope. We walked the trails and saw what we could. It was just beautiful. I cant wait to go back and see more. My granddaughter was with me as well and had the best time. Pictures dont do it justice

Not a zoo. Has nice nature trails with pretty trees, vines, ferns, etc. A few birds but not many. They mostly do animal rehabilitation here, so it’s cool and the work is really important but it’s not like a zoo or something.

I’m sure they do good work rehabilitating birds, but they clearly don’t like humans or dogs very much. Despite emphasizing that they encourage people to get out and appreciate nature, my dog and I were enjoying a hike through Forest Park when we were approached by an Audubon employee who told us we had to leave the park because dogs weren’t allowed (this is NOT true, as confirmed by Portland Parks & Recreation). I was unsure how they expected me to get home, as we had walked through the park to get to that point. After trying to get my bearings, I called the Audubon Gift Shop to ask if they sold maps or if they could help me figure out how to get home without going back through the park, and they suggested I come use their the WiFi to call an Uber. Needless to say, our hike was ruined and it left a very bad taste in my mouth. One of my favorite things about where I live is the easy access to lots of beautiful nature, and unfortunately now we have to think twice before we hike some of our favorite trails.

We found a lost duckling. Unable to find its mother & not knowing what else to do we called the Audubon. They were very helpful & informative. They took the baby in and said they would care for it & release it when it was old enough to live on its own. We are very glad there is some place to get help.

Beautiful peaceful trails abound in this lovely wildlife refuge and ecosystem restoration property. The wildlife rehab center is closed to the public at the moment due to Covid precautions, as are the public restrooms in the visitor center. But the gift shop is now open and there is a porta potty in the Forest Park parking lot, a very short walk from Audobons parking area. Some trail areas are closed but most are just marked as one-way for now to limit contact with other hikers, and there are easy to spot temporary arrow signs. This place is such a treasure, and having it right in the city is incredible. They have wonderful educational programs, diverse plants to view and often excellent birdwatching on clear days.

Do not bring your hurt bird here. They euthanized a bird I found with a broken leg. Harassed me also. Very unprofessional and if you research it as much time as it took for these people to cheat their way through medical school you’d find out that birds can survive just fine with one leg the other amputated or just broken. they can survive a lot of stuff. Very rarely does a veterinarian actually need to euthanize!!!!!!

Their shop was cool and they accepted this nestling that we can call if we want once its stabilized to see hows its doing. So they were very nice about it and they take good care of animals which we have brought in other animals too that they take very well care of. Its a nice place and if u find a bird and sometimes other animals that arent too young u can bring them here and trust they will be well taken care of.

Amazing place with an overall friendly, positive, and calming atmosphere. The Audoubon Society allows you to view some of the many birds theyve rescued while providing a great place to adventure. Deciding to take a hike you can find a large pond with many Rough-Skinned Newts as well as other wildlife or a structure known as the Witches Castle deeper in the woods. The only possible downside is lack of parking.Overall, incredible experience.

Amazing park close to downtown Portland with a handful of easy to moderate hiking trails. Tons of wildlife can be seen - especially birds - including the resident birds near the wildlife care center. Great way to spend an afternoon if you live in or near Portland and want to get outside. Many of the trails are designated as one way only to promote social distancing and trails that are two way are cleared marked. There are lots of benches and a few covered shelters where you can stop and enjoy the scenery.

I found an injured bird and brought it down. My impression is they really care about their animals and release recovered wild animals as close to where they were found as possible. The form they ask you to fill out asks about the birds behavior, what youve done for the bird, and about where you found it. There is no fee to drop off an animal, but the form does suggest a donation of $40. Id pay $40 to save a bird.

My husband and I hiked trails in the Pittock Bird Sanctuary and Collins Sanctuary that are on the Portland Audubon property. There were only a few people on the trails so it was easy to social distance. Most of the trails are one way right now, which really helped since they are quite narrow. It was peaceful even though it is a bit dry and dusty this time of year. A very nice time.

They were kind courteous it is in a little bit of a tough area you wouldnt really want to bring somebody in a wheelchair out there but it is accessible They are safe around Covid and you need to take extra precaution about having animals in the birds just to respect them and do anything you can to help these people are Heroes 2

Called prior to coming in with two field mice that we caught in our home. They assured they would help us. We informed them one had a broken leg, and we were told they would euthanize it, which we expected. As we thought that would be the humane thing to do. But, the second, healthy mouse! Euthanized without question. They just took the animal and said nothing. This was TRICKERY. I wasnt even permitted to have the animal back because it has the chance of carrying a disease. The animal was not assessed for the disease, and it was assumed it carried it. Do all mice carry disease? I think not Audubon Society. Like them or not, they are a part of this ecosystem and live all around you. We dont eradicate a species because they have a chance of carrying disease. All animals have potential of carrying disease. You wouldnt euthanize a dog or a cat without question. The same respect should be given towards all animals, regardless of their pecking order in the pet chain. I will never return, bring you another animal, nor will my family set foot on your grounds again. All you proved was that you violated my trust, and I dont take lightly to that.
