I’m so glad we went with Acadia studios to record our first album. Todd was amazing to work with from start to finish. He was calm and patient through the recording process, highly skilled and thoughtful when he mixed. It meant a lot to me to have someone at the helm who really seemed to get the feel and story of each song, not just focused on compression and fixing notes. He has technical mastery, and exactly the kind of temperament you want from someone working on this kind of project. The studio had plenty of space for us to record our jazz quartet live - acoustic piano, upright bass, drums and vocals - with minimal bleed. Pianos and basses can be difficult to record, and they made them both sound amazing. As a pianist, I couldn’t be happier with how their Steinway felt and sounded. They had high-end mics and some vintage amps that suited us well. We also added a string quartet, recorded live in stereo, and they sounded great! An additional shout out to Alice and Jason, both of whom helped us get this album to print in very short time. I’m so impressed with my experience at Acadia, and grateful to them for making our CD a reality.
