I got a buzz and a beard trim with Josh and he was lovely. I was worried I wouldnt be able to make it less bushy without losing significant length, but he shaped it up perfectly!The buzz cut was awesome as well, great attention to detail and a really clean fade. Fantastic barbershop that had great protections in place when COVID-19 was rampant. Ive been happy with every haircut and beard trim Ive gotten there.

It was my first time to North End. I had a great haircut by Emily. Before today, someone once told me, “The difference between a good and bad hair cut is three days.” I now recognize this take as foolish and probably authored by someone who was used to getting mediocre haircuts. That is simply not the case here. It is Day 1 and I am already pleased with the look. Thanks for the good haircut and conversation!

This place is great. I moved out of St. Johns for a while and traveled from SE because I love it so much. You can book and pay for your appointments online. Free whiskey and beer if you’re into that (suspended for the pandemic), and great haircuts for a reasonable price.

Cash is awesome! She did a great job on my 10-year old sons hair.

Best place I’ve been.

I’ve had my hair cut by everyone in the joint except the owner. All of them are solid. I see Dash most often. Great guy. I wouldn’t tell him that to his face. I’d tell him I want to bury him up to his neck in sand and watch the tide come in. But that’s why he’s good at his job, ya know? Because it’s fun. Good conversation, a good cut, supporting a local joint with people in the local community... ya. It makes sense.The only complaints I see on here are about scheduling. I’ve had ~30 haircuts from North End. Never a single issue. And if I did have an issue, I’d reschedule and ask for a discount and they’d probably give it to me because I see them all the time. Solid people all around.Advice to Management: please don’t go down the “Bishops” or “Rudy’s” road. Also, make sure Dash keeps his hands on the outside of the gown. Handsy SOB that guy, I tell ya. I went here and asked for a line-up because I didn’t want to mess up my curly hair. When I was there I felt very rushed and my hair line is uneven and I have to cover it. That’s how bad it is.

Chaya is my go to stylist. Personable and caring. Chaya aims to get you back up to GQ standards, however all the stylist here are all talented stylists. Overall I would recommend North End Barber Shop to anyone, who is looking to get a fresh cut while supporting local businesses.

5 out 5 stars isn’t enough to actually describe my experience with these folks. As soon as I walked in the door it was a very friendly and welcoming atmosphere. The barbers are professional but very personable and have a lot of skill in their trade. When you come in they offer you a drink as you wait (I chose a little bourbon) and not long after I sat down, maybe 5-10 minutes, i was in the chair getting my haircut.I can actually say I’m really looking forward to getting my haircut again here soon!

I absolutely love this place. The barbers cater to almost every of your basic needs, including a drink more often then not. Each barber is skilled and really listens to what you want, and try in each and every way to please you. I highly recommend this place for your next haircut!

I get my hair cut with Dash - he is a fantastic barber. The shop is cozy and calm, the music is good, and the bourbon selection is phenomenal. I had never had a straight bourbon before getting my hair cut here, and its one of my new favorite things. I would recommend anyone wanting a short haircut here. I have gotten both fades and undercuts, all amazing. I plan to go here for all my future cuts.

Had you ever been someplace where clearly they arnt busy, but they reject your request for service. Thats this place. They are by appointment only. This isnt a Dr. Office. And they sure as hell arnt millionaires. Why do they feel the need to reject you because you dont have an appointment? Because they are douche bag hipsters. Thats why. Take you business else where. You shouldnt have to revolve your life around some tatted up loser weilding a pair of siccors.

You simply cannot trust a “confirmed” appointment at this place. I scheduled a haircut three days in advance, and received a text confirmation—which was later canceled by someone (which I did not notice). Such a disappointment and waste of my time! Rescheduling simply does not cut it when you have a busy schedule with meetings where you hoped to look sharp. That’s why I made the appointment! They simply put someone else in the chair, so they don’t lose out, only the customer does. 😠

All the barbers are top notch. Dash is my man. They fill up, so book online, well in advance.

Relaxed and welcoming environment. First thing you be asked when through the door is if you have a reservation, the second thing will be what kind of drink you would like. They serve a small variety of different liquors and non alcoholic beverages. All of the staff are knowledgeable and skilled. Ive never had a cut I didnt like from them. My visits usually last between 15 and 20 minutes. Walk-ins are welcome but you can also make reservations online or over the phone.

Good straightforward barber shop... just moved to this part of town and needed a haircut that didn’t cost $30+. Simple online reservation system. They are always ready for me when I arrive and offer me a drink, I haven’t taken them up on that yet, I usually have things to do after. The hot towel and straight razor neck shave are great. Going here as my regular barber.

My husband received a great haircut from this place a few weeks back and decided to schedule our two sons here. I would highly recommend calling a day or so ahead of time to schedule an appointment. It was great to walk in and have both barbers ready to get started with our sons. (Two walk-ins were turned away because the shop was booked for the rest of the day. Busy!)The place has lots of seating to relax in and wait; leather couch, old church pew. Good lighting and interesting art on the walls.This is an adult barbershop but they do cut childrens hair and do a great job at it!Check out my photos of the end results. Boys are happy!

I have been all over this city trying to find the perfect barbershop. I figured tja2t since North End is so close to my house I would give it a shot. Best cut and shave I have found. The search is over!! We have decided to move out to Forest Grove but I will make the trip to continue getting the lettuce cut at North End. To me a haircut and shave is an experience not just another thing I have to do. They take care in every aspect to ensure your needs are meet.

The place itself has wonderful decor, but that isnt the only thing thats great about it. Yes they have good selection of whiskey for you to sip on while you wait for your turn but what really stands out is the service. Kash did a great job at shaping up my hair and trimming what little beard I have.

Been coming to North End at least once a month for about a year and have yet to have a bad experience. I always book an appointment ahead of time and have never had to wait more than two minutes after my appointment time. Drinks on the house while waiting or during your cut. Ive gone to Jim for about 95% of the haircuts Ive gotten there and he remembered me and my style after just the second or third time I was in. Hes an excellent barber and a great person to talk to. Moved downtown with no real efficient way to get back to St. Johns, but Ive enjoyed the rapport Ive built with Jim and want to support him and his shop, Ill be back!!

Great barbershop. Looks old school, young folks playing good music and a great haircut or shave. Nice to be offered a drink when you walk in too! Nothing like a beer and shave and haircut.

Chaya, Kash, and Aaron all do a great job of giving me the haircut I want. Theyre also good at making conversation, but noticing those times when Im not really into talking. They offer a drink before the cut, and sometimes a little whiskey is good. I also like the rock and roll Americana feel to the place.

Friendly and experienced barbers. Whiskey selection is on-point with good pours. Value is much better than other hipster/high end barbers in town.
