My car was given back to me with all 5 lug bolts on one of the rear tires loose, 2 of them nearly falling off. It was making a new weird noise as I drove it home. When I called the shop to tell them about it, they told me it was probably just that being up on the lift brought out some new problem with the car. And did I want to bring it back in for them to check? This didnt sound quite right to me so I did a bit of reading and luckily discovered the loose lug bolts before taking it out on the highway. This could have resulted in a terrible accident if the wheel had fallen off while driving. Very sloppy basic safety to be sure to retighten the lug nuts when servicing a car. Sloppy and incompetent, dangerous work.

Car died in the middle of an intersection bout noon and called Madison because Id had some good experiences with them before. They told me bout a cheap, fast, reliable and local tow guy that had my car down to Madison in less than a half hour.I left my car and they told me theyd call when theyd had time to look at it. Bout 3 pm I received a call from Madison telling me that the problem was to the alternator and battery that Id had them install two years prior on some routine maintenance. They had already taken the initiative, looked into and confirmed the warranties on both alternator and battery and replaced them. No charge to me. It was ready to be picked up if I needed it now.While they were replacing parts they had done a check of the rest of the car and found that the front breaks were wearing thin and asked if Id like em replaced. They told me they had already checked and had the break pads in stock and could have them replaced by 5 pm and quoted a very reasonable price. I said yes. Bout 430 I received another call saying the car was ready. When I picked it up there was relaxed conversation with no surprises.Madison is a just a no BS bunch of folks that fix what needs fixed efficiently and within the time and price they say.Theyve won my loyalty for all my automotive needs.

Good service and quick.Took my car in for battery replacement. Unfortunately, that same morning, my car had been hit by catalytic converter thieves (luckily scared off by a neighbor before they could finish the job, but still extra cost to me).Not the mechanics fault but still frustrating.

These guys have kept my 2003 Honda Element running like a champ for over 300k miles now, through several “near death” moments where I thought my car was done for, and always quick and reasonably priced. Also, the one time that a problem reoccurred, they squeezed me immediately in during a busy holiday time to make it right, free of charge. Love the laid back garage atmosphere, and that you can tell Jim and his crew are passionate mechanics intent on doing good business for the community.

Went for an oil change and overall inspection. They wanted an appointment for the next day but I couldnt, they took me in anyways! ( I had the whole day off btw) They recommended a part being fixed with no pressure but I had them do it anyways due to noise and safety concerns. They had it done by the end of the day, and after asking them they recommended a few other little things that could be fixed in the future, but again no pressure. Best mechanic experience Ive had! Hands down the most trustworthy auto repair shop Ive ever visited. I first visited them after another repair shop quoted me an outrageous price for a brake line replacement, I called around and Madison was several hundred dollars cheaper. I paid to have my car towed from the first place to Madison and it was a great decision. Since then my wife and I have been back two more times for other repairs and have had great success!I wont be taking my cars anywhere else. Thank you!

Good price, very communicative, and high quality work. Ive brought my van in for what I told them was probably going to be expensive, but they showed me it was actually an inexpensive fix. I view that experience as a crossroads where a less-honest person would have ripped me off, but they chose to do right by their customers and reap the long-term rewards. Who knew that taking your car in for service could actually restore some faith in humanity. This is much more than a car repair shop, its a community hub. People stopping in bringing cinnamon rolls as a sign of gratitude not only for service but for friendship, for relationships developed over years spanning generations. I wasnt sure what I was going to do with my time while my car was being worked on & I am so glad I stayed here to wait for it, as I got to see how wonderful people are treated and how much folks here are appreciated & loved..... Was referred to this shop as a local reliable shop. I called to request a quote and was told they do not give quotes over the phone. They would only quote me a price if I was coming in to have work. Understand I was calling to inquire about an alignment, faulty headlights, and heating system- very costly services. They lost out.

This place was great! Got my car fixed same day! I thought I would have to haggle about a warranty, because anywhere else they do! But not here, they even replaced the belts for free! Very happy with customer care and service!

I should have posted this sooner, but even with my last service having been a month or so ago felt the desire to share. Love the personal service. Both owners are wonderful as are the mechanics that shared maintenance concerns.. On two ocassions I dropped in and despite a busy schedule they fit me in. The quality of work I received was top notch. I have referred others and will continue to do so as it is hard to find a quality, honest, & reasonably priced auto repair shop.

Madison Automotive is the best! Jim Madison is extremely experienced, having worked for a dealership in Portland for over 30 years. In the short time since he opened his own shop, he has built an amazing expert staff, and has consistently demonstrated his honesty, with an excellent work ethic. He diagnoses and estimates repair costs for free. I met Jim when he repaired my 25-year-old daughters car. I was very impressed at how he treated her, how friendly, patient and respectful he was when describing the problems in simple terms she could understand. Since then hes the only mechanic Ive used. Hes worked on my three older cars multiple times. Ive been so pleased with his work, customer service, and his fair prices, that I wont go anywhere else.

From out of town, down for family weekend visit and the Air conditioner went out. It was in the 90s. We showed up at 3:00 on a Saturday, these guys work on it got a part from across town and done by 6:00. God bless them. We made it to the family BBQ.

Jim the owner was very helpful, honest, and got me exactly what I needed and didnt try to upsell me at all. The mechanic who worked on my car was even nice enough to answer some questions about my brake pads since I didnt know much about my car and how it was set up. The mechanic told me honestly how soon i needed another brake check and it was all surprisingly good news (not needing another 1 for up to a year!). so they are a great shop in my book! thanks Madison Auto!

Im the first carpenter in a long line of auto mechanics, so am not completely uninformed. Madison was recommended to me by another mechanic I trust, but lives too far away. Ive had my truck worked on twice and our Element has been in once. Great customer service, willing to walk you through the repair to a reasonable extent, and low pressure about current or future work that may need to be done aside from the work my vehicles were brought in for.The prices are a bit higher than Im used to, but Im also used to the family discount, and you get what you pay for.Other than work I have time to do myself, or things they dont do, Ill be having all my repairs done here from here on out.Thanks Jim and crew!

I hate leaving bad reviews, but I have to do it. The woman at the counter was nice and professional, but the mechanic clearly screwed my car up. It smoked badly for 2 weeks after the oil change (because he intentionally doused it with oil) and then belt started squealing and hasnt stopped having issues no matter how much I soap it. Im guessing a bolt was loosened - probably because of my Bernie sticker or because the oil change was scheduled on his lunch break. Be careful anyone who lets the fat mechanic near your car - especially if its his lunch break or you have left wing bumper stickers.

I was referred here by a friend and I didnt regret it. I have had bad luck with uncommunicative mechanics, and Jim was not one of them at all! I like to work on my car most of the time, so Im pretty picky with the details. But they did a great job on something I couldnt accomplish myself with my 01 VW Jetta. The quote was cheap and didnt change, I brought my own new part because I chose to, and once they started on the car they did it quickly. I would definitely recommend.

They took the time to explain what was wrong, what parts were needed, and how they would fix it. It is great to have a mechanic I can trust.

Came highly recommended, brought car in and described the problem which was carburetor specific. Had to call 3 business days later to see if it was worked on and was told that they dont really do carb specific stuff.Kind of expensive advice to tell me to just buy a new carb.Otherwise everyone was fairly nice, but it would have been nice to know ahead of time and/or turned away.
