The staff and the owners here are all very helpful and knowledgeable. I felt they went above and beyond my expectations for a buyers inspection on a car I was considering buying from a local used car dealership. They thoroughly inspected it, took it for a test drive, and addressed all my concerns. I had never bought a rebuilt vehicle before, but after several conversations and getting all my many questions answered, and learning how to best approach the negotiation with the dealership... I finally decided the car was going to be a reliable choice and I got close enough to the price I wanted for a car I really like! Arthurs did a GREAT job Fixing up my 1951 Chevy pickup. Looks so cool, and runs better than ever. Ive owned it for close to 40 years, but let it fall into disrepair. Veille Does everything from simple oil changes to complete restorations and custom work. I could not be happier. :)

Veille and the folks at Arthurs Automotive run a great full service shop. I recently took my custom ratrod into their shop to have a new radiator installed and some other work done. I do most of my own maintenance, but decided to finally put my trust in a professional. Veille was very communicative on price and transparent about what needed to be done. They deal with a lot of custom cars and are not afraid to take on something out of the ordinary. For these reasons I will be back. They also provide fantastic in house upholstery work. Where else can you get all this? Top notch!

Im actually hoping one of my seats rips so I have an excuse for him to re-upholster something. All the cars I see there look amazing, and weve used Arthurs for our work vehicles for years as well. 2 of my vintage motorcycles had seats that were worn out. The original seats were very bland even when they were new, so Arthurs came up with a new design that matches and looks awesome my mostly original motorcycles. I couldnt be happier. Excellent work and customer service. Thank you Veille!

DONT GO THEREThis shop is the biggest upholstery rip off joint in Oregon, run and managed by amateurs.I took my car Lincoln Town Car 1987 for a vinyl roof replacement...well, after a few days I get the call to pick up the car.On site, I found a mess! New vinyl was laid bare with new glue coat on the old unprepared roof, missing the foam left overs from the original roof, resulted in many bumps and valleys, and to make it worse, he glued the vinyl joints (instead of stitching them)!Lee did not take my legitimate complain well.. he is the owner/manager, and he supposedly the last honest mechanic according to sign outside the shop, he arrogantly told me to take the car as is...because simply, he refuses to work on it to finish the job, so he kindly kept $150 for himself and refunded me $250 out of my $400 deposit. The actual written job estimate was $750.Now, my car has a glued vinyl piece that need to be replaced with some moldings in the trunk and some of the pieces completely missing...Now, I am looking for another upholster at greater $cost because of the mess and much more time wasted trying to find the missing pieces out in the wrecking yards!And that was the last honest mechanic !Ten days gone by...I have made same complain to the BB Bureau, they are seriously looking into it...My claim is far from over Sir, I am waiting for the car to be finished, so I can furnish full cost/pictures/report of the whole Upholstery job by the professional current installer.Mr. Vielle Arthur emailed me on Sep 7th. offering to repay the $150.00 he allegedly kept for a miserable repair on the glove box. Actually, he, also ruined the glove box, he drove multiple, visible SCREWS in it instead of gluing it!Photos speak volumes for anyone to see.It is not about the $150 anymore, my cost is a lot more now, and what comes into question, is his craftsmanship, customer relations, carelessness of customers properties and overpricing... but craftsmanship tops the lot.BEWARE of the last honest mechanic in Portland!Mike

Highly recommend! Super honest and have done great work on my car. Fixed a coolant problem for me that multiple other mechanics have looked over - they are thorough and dont over charge! And like other women I see leaving reviews, I can agree they are one of the only mechanics who hasnt tried to scam me and assume I dont know about my car because Im a woman. What an amazing find!

Went in here to get a motorcycle seat covered. VERY unprofessional person at the desk and even worse work quality. This is a $20 job. He said “I MIGHT do it for $60”. Upon return for pick up he tore the seat in multiple places, Staples are falling out of it and it has lumps all over the seat. I do NOT recommend! He also told me to “Go find someone else to do it then!” Now my seat is ruined and this will cost me a few hundred dollars to repair what they hav broken. RIP OFF, do not go here!

Horrible work and when you try to get it fixed he argues with you and hangs up I have recipes for the lack of good work

For he past two years Ive been bringing in my Lexus to get worked on to Arthurs automotive. They have provided me excellent service, keeping the pep talk simple and the decision entirely mines if I want to fix it or not. They also help install aftermarket parts for a reasonable price and get the job done as best they can.

The 66 mustang my father owns, payed Arthurs automotive a ridiculous amount of money to put a new 289 engine in. Instead he put a used 302 engine in and it hasnt ran since. We have had a licensed ford technician diagnosis the engine to find out it has a lot of major issues: like silicon he used instead of a gasket and plastic parts that should of been replaced with his orginal metal part etc, Arthurs took advantage of my parents after having spent 8 months of the car going back for Arthurs to fixed it...DONT USE HIM ESPECIALLY IF YOUR ELDER!!!!! By the way i own my own business and am self employed customer is always right or what can you do to make your customer happy GIVE THE MONEY BACK OR REPLACE THE MOTOR FREE OF CHARGER!!!!!!!

I came in one day with my brakes making this horrible squealing noise for a month. I had already gone to the Mitsubishi dealership a couple times and they kept my car overnight and said that it was normal, they sprayed some brake quiet on and they said they didnt see a problem with it. That lasted about half a day and they started screeching again. I called them back and they said if I wanted to pay $150 they would keep my car overnight again and have a real good look at it. I was so frustrated at this point because I was out of a car the day before, when they were supposedly looking at it. I said forget it. It was so loud and embarrassing that I didnt want to have my windows down. Finally I brought my car to Arthurs Automotive and Veille thoroughly looked at it and figured out it in the first hour that it was just a brake shim that was rubbing and needed to be replaced. He replaced it for free and he saved me $150 and a huge headache. Even with my little problem, it was so nice to be showed so much compassion. Thanks again!

Great reliable service, I have a 79 C3 Corvette. They have done one major job ( Rear end bearings, seals and brake calipers) and one minor (disassembly of the steering column to fix the horn). Very satisfied with both. My wife uses this as a daily driver, and with a 40 year old car, there is the expected problems. Next up is the master cylinder.

I only ever go to this shop. Veille knows his stuff. I love you guys!!!

I dont know about these other reviews but.... they kept my car allllllll day and charged me 90 dollars to replace a sensor that sits right on top of the air intake. Worst part.... didnt even fix the problem. My car is an 89 in great condition. Its not rocket science. I think theyre just crooks hustling people for diagnostic fees. Dont go here.

I have an older RV bus that needed some major renovation inside. Veille and his team have tackled each problem with care and professionalism. Their knowledge and expertise are incredible. I know this sounds crazy but I was having breakfast and they have those glass countertops where they put memorabilia and business cards underneath and I saw a business card for Arthurs Automotive, the last honest mechanic and I was so Charmed by that statement I called over there to investigate.Arthurs Automotive is a Hidden Gem located a block off 82nd and a block off Glisan. I have a 1992 Ford F-150 pickup truck and a 1996 Jeep Cherokee Grand Laredo. I had the heater core replaced on my truck along with a few other minor repairs and then I took my Cherokee over and they replaced my drivers door, yes I said the whole door, made the headlights on the Jeep more brighter, fixed my broken jockey box, and let me say it did not cost me thousands of dollars and it did not take weeks and weeks.Not only do they do engine repairs, but I was told they like to kick back and do upholstery repair and Design and they also do body work as well. Ladies and gentlemen of this lovely City this guy and his team can do it all! He has the inside line on great pricing for tires, and is going to do some really cool cosmetic work on my truck.If you have been cheated or misled by a mechanic, if you were told one price and then when you pick up your car it was a much higher price, if youre tired of having to wait days and days to get your automobile fixed, then I would give Arthurs Automotive a serious phone call because these guys are Top Notch and I highly highly highly recommend them.I am receiving no compensation or discount and for that fact I am speaking as a lone individual, please understand Arthurs Automotive is worth a try. Took my Tacoma in for an upholstery repair on the drivers side seat which had 5 damaged panels. Veille gave me a fair quote and showed me samples of a material which was a close match considering the truck is 20 years old. He did a beautiful job and the job was completed when promised. He was the only person that helped me with material. I will have more work for Veille and his dad.
