This place is TERRIBLE. The lady at the front desk was asking ME how much I should pay instead of checking paperwork. She billed me wrong and now they have the nerve to send me a bill with a real price after she made a huge mistake. Also the 70+ year psychologist that works there (short Hispanic man wearing flip flops) is completely unprofessional. He talked to me about what kind of breasts he likes on a woman. Completely irrelevant to my situation and showed no TRUE EMPATHY on what I was going through. Please don’t go here. They don’t care and I’ve been wanting to review them for so long. Still thinking about filing a complaint

I have no issue with Dr. Rockwell but I have a huge issue with the office staff. They almost never answer their phones; ask you to leave your name and your concern and someone will call you back but they rarely do. I ran out of a medication at the end of last week and because I have my prescriptions filled through a mail order pharmacy, it takes longer to get my refill, sometimes as long as 10 days. Knowing how unresponsive this practice is I started to contact them 10 days prior to running out. I sent my request to the mail order pharmacy and they responded telling me they need a new prescription from my doctors office. So I attempted to call my doctors office by calling 8 times in five days and I was never put through to a human being to clarify the situation. In a few days I checked with the mail order pharmacy to see if they had received the new refill prescription. By then I got a message that my order had been canceled. I called the office again; I even left a voice mail with the doctor but the recording stated that his messages are retrieved by the office staff and he never hears them. By now I’m experiencing withdrawal symptoms and becoming quite agitated. I ended up calling my PCP to ask if she could contact the doctor’s office on my behalf and also could she write a bridge prescription to tide me over until the real problem can be remedied. Thank God she was willing to do this. This is not an isolated incident. It happens quite frequently and indicates to me that not only is this office not caring for its patients but is behaving unethically and perhaps performing malpractice. I really don’t know how to rectify this problem and there are very few doctors in this huge metropolitan city that accept my insurance although it’s one of the good ones. I feel trapped. If you have options, go elsewhere.

Expensive and not willing to work with clients. I was a new client and had trouble on my paperwork (first time seeking counseling so it was all very confusing). The days in-between making the appointment and my appointment, I had to go out of town unexpectedly for a personal issue and did not have my computer or health insurance info on me. I tried the day of the appointment to get the paperwork done or reschedule but they said I was “too late” and charged me a $60 cancellation fee. In making the appointment originally, they never warned me that if I cancel/reschedule that there would be this fee. I tried reaching out to the counselor and she didn’t care. This counseling office is not helpful at all and very rude on the phone. Would NOT recommend.

Please seek help somewhere else. I call to schedule a follow up appointment. The receptionist refused unless they took a payment. This was a follow-up from yesterday. I told her I didnt have my flex spending card but would make the payment when I got the bill or online. My father had just passed away yesterday and all I was calling for was the appointment. They were rude and hung up on me. If you are going through emotional stuff this place will make it worse.

Ive gone there off and on over the course of six or seven years. I went for medicine to treat ADD that Ive had since childhood. Out of nowhere they changed my prescription. No one could explain how it happened. Okay, so I stop going for a while and my situation requires i get back on meds. They tell me its a two month wait and I am considered a new patient. My interactions took under five minutes but they expect me to pay a consult fee. Girl behind the counter was rude as hell. Thought my desire to a doctor who Ive known for years was pretty funny

I have been going there for a few years now, and I have to say, some of what I experienced there was more likely to increase my need to see someone for counseling. I saw Dr Hicks, who was amazing and really took care of me and my issues. I really respect him and his expertise.Might be wondering—if he was so great, then what was the issue?I would call the story I am about to tell you one of extortion, but you the reader can decide. The office staff are not terribly polite, which I could handle—office staff sometimes are busy and sometimes overlook pleasantries in the hustle of the medical field. But recently it went beyond the pale.My insurance didnt cover mental health, so I paid out of pocket. I just looked at it as the cost of doing business to see a good doctor. I ended up needing to leave for a year and a half to move to Albuquerque for a job. When I moved back to Phoenix, they took $75, which is what I paid each visit, and I continued to see Dr. Hicks.Several months later, I started to do better and didnt see him for about 8 months, less than the time I was in Albuquerque. They insisted I pay them 275$ to see him again as a New Patient.” I scoffed at it and tried to talk to them about it, because I had extensive patient history and required no new admin or diagnosis work, but they wouldnt hear it. Finally I decided, okay, I really need this, so I set the appointment and tried desperately to save up for it.However! I then got different health insurance. This would cover my mental health expenses!I called them to reschedule the appointment for when my insurance kicks in. Here is when it got extra bad: they snippily told me that if I rescheduled a couple weeks later so I wouldn’t self-pay, I would not be allowed to see Dr. Hicks AT ALL. I was told Dr. Hicks was leaving to start his own practice. OK, fine. I would gladly follow him. Did they know what insurances he would accept? Could I get contact information for that? They utterly refused every question—they would not give me ANY information, would not let me talk to him, and told me that if I didn’t pay them $275 I wouldn’t be able lock in status as his patient so I could follow him to his new practice. What that leaves out, conveniently, is that it’s quite possible he wouldn’t have accepted my insurance at his new practice and I wouldn’t have been able to follow him anyway. I would have just been paying $275 to re-enter this company’s system, so they could likely offer me one of their own doctors once he left and I was on the hook for more medication.I ended up cancelling my appointment, I hope I can see Dr. Hicks elsewhere but Id rather go untreated for now than have to deal with this office.

Dr. Rockwell is an excellent psychiatrist. He listened to my input about the treatment plan he came up with for me and really cares about my well being. His office staff are friendly and welcoming. I would definitely recommend Dr. Rockwell to my family and friends!!

I have been working with Dr. Rockwell for a little over a year now. I believe he is a considerate doctor who tries to ensure that you are getting the best treatment for your mental health needs. I have been seeing him in conjunction with a psychologist in the Biltmore area, and he has been particularly conscientious and perceptive in understanding how my treatments affect me. He has an interpersonal style that would surprise some people, but it actually gives me a lot of confidence that he knows what he’s doing and what he’s looking for. I’d highly recommend him to anyone.

I was referred to this establishment by another medical organization. The scheduler that answered the phone was not at all personable. Twenty years working on phones and assisting callers, I found this individual to demonstrate complacency and entitlement. The tone the individual used was as though she was doing me a favor. She wanted me to revise the existing communications process between this establishment and the other medical organization. I’m requested a different facility.

5 stars for the health professionals. Been seeing Dr. Hicks for around 5 years. He is an excellent, caring, compassionate psychiatrist. His M.A., Tonya is also a great asset and does her absolute best to help as she can. The billing dept. is a joke and front desk is a hit or miss. It is quite sad to see how it turns people off from getting excellent mental care because of your 1st experience was quite sub par at 1st contact. This can make or break some of the best doctors.

Dr. Hicks himself is a fantastic doctor. I really enjoyed working with him personally. The entirety of this review is for the office staff. The office staff at this location are abysmal. For working in a clinic for people with mental health problems there is a serious lack of compassion and understanding. I started going there based on a recommendation for Dr. Hicks himself but I should have read the reviews about the office staff first.Their office staff almost killed me.There was a problem with my medication they couldnt get my prescription straight and I went into withdrawal. I could have died of serotonin syndrome. The office staff refused to fix their mistakes. No one returns messages. They dont give Dr. Hicks his messages. My appointments were often extremely late or didnt happen at all and yet I was charged for them. Right now I owe the office money but Im not going pay them for a visit that I never got to have because it was running so late that I had to leave. Its unfortunate that Dr Hicks practice is suffering due to his awful staff.

Can I give less than one star? Because I would prefer to. Dr. Hicks has been condescending and rude. He spent my second session with him dictating notes from my intake appointment (first appointment) and when I tried to mention symptoms on the medication he prescribed he acted annoyed that I had anything to report. Front desk staff is pleasant but I’m finding a new doctor with much better availability and bedside manner.

The main office staff is amazingly inefficient. It is baffling. Not only does the billing girl not assume responsibility, she blames other people. She absolutely will not help regarding clearing up errors on my bill. She is resolute in this. She has become smug in her refusal to assist in any way. I am very pleased with the psychiatrist and the therapist. The owner(s) of Northlight need to take care of this. I see other reviews, and most all are complaints about staff.

My husband finally called today after YEARS ago of me pushing him to get seen by a doctor for his PTSD from prior military service. Today he had a breakdown and left work in the middle of his shift and called you guys for an appointment in the time he really needed someone. He finally was going to get help. The treatment he recieved just when just calling in to try to get an appointment is appalling. He was put on hold 3 separate times by someone who would just pick up and say please hold. When he finally did get someone after 15 minutes of holding, he gave you a reference number where he was then put on hold again. When you finally came back on the line you told him Sorry, this isnt in our system you will need to get a new referral. And then hung up on him before he was able to say a word. I hope you know he was waiting for WEEKS to even hear back from you after the referral was put in the first time. I just want others to see the treatment one person goes through before they make a decision to choose this office.

The office staff is always rude. It seems they are burdened to help you. You will pay a fee for walking into the office 30 seconds after your appointment time and not be seen. When you arrive on time you will wait 15-30 minutes past your scheduled appointment ROUTINELY. Your doctor will put you on medication you Depend on, when it comes time for a refill you can’t speak to anyone. You have to leave a voice mail. Even when there is an issue with dosage or change in pharmacy there is no one to speak with, you MUST leave a voice mail and hope they get back to you in a few days.

The most frustrating thing for me is feeling like Im not being heard. Youre only left with the option of leaving a voicemail which is listened to and relayed to the Dr. by an asst. We all know how the telephone game plays out at the end.... 99 percent of the time the messages arent correct leaving me agitated and frustrated because Im not receiving the attention or care I deserve. A simple refill request shouldnt be this complicated. Luckily its not something Ill withdraw from so hopefully well get it correct tomorrow. Fingers crossed.

The owner down to the rapidly changing, inefficient and uneducated staff is of the poorest quality I have come across as a health care provider and user in many decades. My physician is top notch which is why I subject myself to the almost always horrific experiences with, naturally, some individuals that shine. They, unfortunately, dont last long as a rule. They are notorious for coercing patients out of no show fees if you arrive 5 minutes late or the scheduler forgets to cancel a previous appointment if you dare to call and ask to change your appointment. The billing department excuses a patient once a year, otherwise they refuse to allow continuity of care with your provider unless you pay the $45.00 fee. In the real world, that is called extortion, coercion and fraud.

Staff is lazy and totally disinterested in patients. I felt I was bothering the receptionist - no smile, no greeting - nothing. Getting prescriptions refilled is a nightmare - my pharmacy tried to get a renewal from them for two weeks. I only continue to go there because of my doctor. I would NEVER recommend this company to anyone.

Heres a hope that I might actually get a reply.Im being billed for 300 dollars, can not ever get a call back from your billing department. You sent me a bill saying I paid 60 bucks at the top. I had a 150 dollar payment because of no deductible. (So 90 bucks owed) then a copay by me for 25 bucks so 65 dollars owed according to this bill. BUT YOU ARE BILLING 300?!

Crooks. Called today to cancel my appointment today because I cant afford it. Kathy doesnt accept my Care credit card, and she doesnt accept my Employee assistance program benefit through my work. Both methods would have paid for todays visit if she accepted them. Instead they are going to charge me a 45.00 cancellation fee, and that balance will need to be paid before I can see my psychiatrist there for my medication. I go there to help deal with stress issues, and instead Im just getting more of it, and penalized. Also when ever you call your ALWAYS left hold forever. The front desk girl by the door is never at her desk.

I have no doubt that Dr. H is an excellent doctor, however he was definitely not the doctor for me. He gave me plenty of time, even additional time, but the relation to the patient was non-existent. While I do know that an intake is always going to be a series of questions, I really was not a fan of answering the questions and then sitting there as my answers were repeated back aloud into a mic in the third person, and then having it redone in the case of the software making an error. I was so turned off by this that I cancelled my second appointment. This was back in early 2014, and I too had problems with the office staff. As just one example, when I cancelled the next appointment, I was told Id be charged the cancellation fee even though I had called a full business day ahead of the appointment. I didnt have time to continue to the conversation, so I had to end it and be on my way.

Ive visited this office 4 or 5 times with a family member. This review is not about the actual provider its about the office. This office is extremely irritating. The receptionists are not helpful and to make it worse, they keep a loud noise generating machine and a radio playing on the customer side of the counter. You cant hear what theyre saying and they get irritated when you point that out. MOVE THE NOISE MACHINES and the radio, treat customers like you want them to come back. Im looking for other options in order to avoid this ridiculously frustrating office and its less than helpful staff.
