Bought a pickup from Bills yard. It wasn’t running at the time but I asked if he could get it running for me if I bought it. He said he could and it was for a great deal! He needed to rebuild the engine and the lifters and such but got it all done for me and I drove it off the lot! So impressed with this businesses work! I couldn’t be happier! He even power washed it off for me because it was real dirty. Truck has all original parts and pieces and the dash cluster works and everything! Very impressed because the truck is 40 years old! Thank you for your honesty and business bill! Thank you to the mechanic as well! I’ll be recommending you guys to anybody I know and will be taking all my vw’s to this shop from here on out!

Honest shop. Bill has gone above and beyond the call of duty. They’ve been in business for years, could have possibly trained half of phoenix’s European mechanics. If you have what they work on, seems like it’d be the only place to go. Fair prices, care about people and know their stuff.

Name says German but they only service specific cars. They are also very particular. They wont diagnos a car that was purchased from an auction or from certain places. Ive tried to do business w them on multiple cases. Id recommend going elaewhere for the repairs. Its just not worth it. The overall service stinks and it wont take long for you to realize it.

The best. Total axle failure right before New Years. Bill switched out axles and got me back on the road in no time. His skills at welding made it possible to make a perfect fit.

I was on the road in my 85 VW westy with some problems that were stressing me out, and it was such a relief to be able to bring it to people as knowledgeable and friendly as Bill and Dan. Bill made time on short notice to help diagnose and repair some problems I was having, taught me a few things along the way, and got me going again later the same day with a huge weight off my shoulders. If you have to break down, make sure to break down near these guys!

Reasonably priced, and they did excellent work. Also friendly! We went a bit far to go there on a family recommendation, and I thought the idea was ridiculous, tbh, but it was actually totally worth it. Its pretty rare to find that in a mechanic. Well definitely go back if we need anything else.

The wait was long for everything. I paid for unlimited bowling , pool and the shy walk also laser tag. Got there at 1am and only bowled one game because you have to stop after 1 game so others can play. And ecerything else was every hour so you sit or spend more money on games. A rip off

My Q5 is currently in their shop, and I could not be happier to have found them. If youve heard it once, youve heard it a million times--these are excellent cars, but require someone who really understands and knows them to keep them running in great shape. Not only are they competent, but they have been men of their words so far--theyve called when they said they would call, and theyve given nothing but honest assessments of my vehicle.In the end, Ive found a go-to based on the three most important components Im looking for: Honesty/Integrity, Competency, and Price. Its legitimately half the cost of going to the dealer, and they know what theyre doing. Win-win-win.UPDATE: To make it better, yesterday they called to let me know theyd have me out the door in the region of $550. That was a great deal already. Today when I picked my car up, I was out the door for $456. INTEGRITY, HONESTY, AND DOING THE RIGHT THING BY THE CUSTOMER... So glad to have found these guys.

I went to Affordable German after the dealer quoted me 4K for an engine repair. I was shopping for an engine rebuild at that point. I spoke to the guys at Affordable German and had the car towed down. After listening to the engine they were suspect of the dealer diagnosis. They told me they would take a look. Within an hour they let me know they could repair it but were doing a thorough review and would get me a specific quote later that day. They got back to me in a couple of hours with a full list of repairs. The dealer quote for 4K was now 1.5K. They listed a number of other items that needed repair that I was aware of just hadnt done because of the engine issue. I gave them the go ahead and now the car is done and it runs like it did when i first bought it. I would highly recommend Affordable German for anyone that needs Volkswagen Engine Repair.

Ive been going here for years. The staff is awesome, the owner is awesome and if your car comes in for some light repair, you can go out in the yard and see all of the cars they have. They have dogs, and the dogs love to be petted and paid attention to. The price is right too! You guys are awesome!

My experience : 5 stars ! The dealer gave me a quote to replace few things that was too expensive for me, so I checked reviews on different places, and I decided to bring my car here. My work schedule is open only on Sunday basically and during the week opens up at the last moment during the day, so I could not make an appointment, but one time that it opened up, I was able to bring it in have a quote and have it done on the very same day while waiting. They performed a great job, keeping me in the loop of what they were doing and they also checked other parts of the car. Using top quality products and top replacement parts, the final price was way way lower than the dealership. Definitively recommend this place.

These guys are great mechanics and Bill is totally.....honest. He is like an old school family physician who does only what is absolutely necessary to diagnose and repair your automobile. Yes, he carefully diagnoses the problem to get his best thought of the necessary treatment....and he goes after it. That is the key....no over treatment here. I bought a westfalia last year and needed to get some work down , after reading up on the places that have experience with them , I decided to bring it to Bill. And honestly , I would trust no one else to work on my vehicle . Bill and Dan are both super amazing mechanics and very open and honest with what’s going on . I got stuck in riverside California over night with my family , and Bill helped me diagnose my van from afar and we were able to bypass some bad electrical to get my car to start . Beware! Only one star because I had to input something. Beware! This place ruined my engine and did not stand behind their work. I took the owner to court as a last resort to fix my audi a4 and was rendered a judgement but he hasnt paid me to this day. I saw him on the sidewalk after the court appearance and he said Ill get a check to you within the week and that was four years ago... my advice take your business elsewhere. They will be nice upfront but when the negligence happens itll be all your fault! Theres better places to trust your car with.

Bill and Dan are super down to earth, all about the customer, mechanics. They helped me in a pinch as I was driving through Phoenix. I was able to ask them all the questions and concerns I had and they always seemed to have the answer. Soon after, Bill had given me some advice over the phone on how to get out of a bad no start situation, while being close to the middle of nowhere. These guys are a world of help. I recently heard about this place and I was a bit skeptical going since you cant trust many places to take care of your car, and they charge you an arm & a leg, but I ended up taking it and man let me tell I dont regret it. I was so impressed with their service that I told my father and sister who have GTIs about the great work they did. We will all be coming here going forward. I could not thank them enough for the work they did. They were on top of everything and constintley reminding me that they had not forgotten me and they were still working on my car, Daniel even took the time to show me what was the problem with my car which gave me a sense of security. If you are considering taking your car here do it you will not regret it! Daniel and everyone at Affordable German are great.

Is 0 star an option? Took my vehicle into this shop 3 times with in a few weeks. Replaced parts and then after the third visit I was told to go to the dealership for a recall. The dealership cost $150 to read the ECU and then an additional $75 for a replacement gas cap and disposal. Affortable German also decided to power washing my engine (without my requesting or authorization) causing motor issues, they claimed no responcibility, mind you the vehicle ran like a top for 92,000miles. I called the following day and was told to just let it work its self out. Needless to say it didnt work it self out. I was almost in multiple accidents due to my vehicle stalling out from a rolling into an intersection only to have it die in mid traffic mid intersection.

I didnt really know what to expect when I first arrived at the shop. But after getting the work completed I wouldnt go anywhere else!. Daniel works on the newer (1996 and up) VWs and he certainly knows his stuff. He was able to get my exhaust fixed, AC chilled and a couple other things done in about an hour and half. The other guys there were very friendly and also know their stuff. If you have a VW or Audi this is the place to go. It may not look like much, but it is the best place to go. Affordable prices and quick service.

Only shop in town that I trust with my EVC. Bill and his team are very knowledgeable, and perform their trade the old way. No upselling, no BS repairs... just the honest and dependable hard work you used to count on in this great country. Been a customer for three years, and not a complaint to be had... (except they are a little far from my home).Keep up the good work!

Ive been to this shop 3 times for service on my 2013 Passat. Daniel, the lead technician worked for a Volkswagen service department for 15 years. The prices are fareally less than a dealership with better service. You might learn a little bit about your car if you hang out. Volkswagens arent easy to work on and even changing the oil can be tricky so always to to the experts, even for a simple oil change. Itll save you a ton of cash over time.

Not friendly, poor customer service.

I was driving down the highway and all of a sudden my car overheated and I had to tow it. I have a Volkswagen Jetta 1.8t so I really wanted to take it to someone who knows about VWs so I towed it to affordable German in hopes that they could help me.a all I can say is I AM SO GRATEFUL for these guys. I just showed up and was taken in automatically even though there was a line. They really wanted to help me find out what was wrong. Anthony helped me out amd he was so down to earth and funny. Its refreshing especially when I was really stressed out. In about three hours they called back saying what the problem was and the cost oh and that it was ready to be picked up!! AMAZING!!!! Fast friendly and informative service was given to me and for that I will be a loyal customer. ;)
