Our Rottweiler tore her ACL and our vet referred us to Dr Hanson. When we called the staff was extremely friendly and empathetic. They couldn’t see her for 3 weeks but assured us they would do the surgery the same day.I called another vet who could take her in to confirm it was ACL and then scheduled surgery for another day. Which would be added cost and stress on her having to be put under multiple times. Plus, she tore her other acl a few years ago go so we knew it was another tear.So we waited 3 weeks and her surgery was yesterday. Everyone was very kind. Dr Hanson took time to explain what was gonna happen. We picked her up today and the tech reviewed next steps. Very patiently. Didn’t act rushed or we were a bother.Thank you Dr Hanson and team!

Waited 6 hours for them to see my dog, even though they specifically said. “2-hours MAX”. 2 hours later we call and they said at least another hour. Another hour goes by and we have to contact them again. Horrible communication. They wanted to do “x-rays and blood work” just to confirm nothing was wrong, and we got no real answers. They just want to send him home with a bunch of meds. I understand if you’re busy but don’t say “MAX” if you’re going to triple the time. Then, we get the bill, and after paying I realize they charged me double for some items. We went back in to ask and they made a mistake. A $230 mistake. Good thing we caught it.If you like waiting with no communication and constant misleading information and to pay double for things…this is the place for you. Actual time…doesn’t exist here. If your dog TRULY does NOT have time on its side, DO NOT come here.

The rudest most unprofessional, immature tech staff I’ve ever spoken to in my life. It’s embarrassing. I asked for the name of the physician they say I don’t know, I ask details about the medications being given they say I don’t know. The doctor was confident and helpful so no complaints there.I’d love to see how the vet techs would feel if the tables were turned and their dog was in a situation. In that field of work staff should have that factor of respect and understanding especially when the owner is being respectful and asking normal questions to the staff about her dog! Beware is all I’m saying.

Pet owners beware! They left my cat in his carrier for over 2 1/2 hours with no water or litter box, brought him back to me after a three hour wait in the parking lot. My cat was screaming. He was covered in poop and pee. They took zero responsibility, apologized and said he was basically the only tech in the ER, everyone else called out. Said in happened in the 10 seconds it took to walk from the door to my car, which was impossible. I get there were more pressing emergencies. They should have put him in a kennel with water and litter until they could take him. His carrier had to be thrown out. Cat was traumatized, and quite frankly, I was too.

Expert care, compassionate and friendly staff who were devoted to my dogs’ welfare. Two of my dogs had emergency surgery in this facility in the last six months - yes, two. One for a difficult tumor and another for a neighbor’s dog attack. Each time the Vet discussed the dogs’ condition, the treatment plan and it’s outcome. Surgery was immediately performed. For the little guy who was bitten, the Vet followed up to insure a deep wound wasn’t infected and administered additional antibiotics. The follow up for both dogs was excellent. I was impressed with their teamwork and professionalism. A million thank yous to Dr Portus and theTeam! I rate them as “outstanding”.

Can I say that these people were a true lifeline when it came to the euthanasia of my beloved Pomeranian ? My veterinarian was out of town when his collapsed trachea made it impossible to breathe & she recommended this service. The vet techs & the veterinarian were all wonderful compassionate people with a very sweet & understanding manner . During this time when no one can be face to face safely , they were still able to make me feel the compassion & care they were to deliver to my little boy. His remains came back promptly & beautifully done. I even received this lovely card signed by the whole staff which is much more than I got from his veterinarian of 8 years & her staff that knew us well. Kudos to this group of now friends! I am very grateful for their sincere service & well wishes . As a Google reviewer I don’t give out reviews like this lightly.

We regret coming here so bad! Our cat was mis-diagnosed putting his life in danger and wasting our time & money. This place was referred to us by a couple of our vets as an emergency services clinic. We had to bring our cat, who was peeing more frequent than normal and with blood, to this clinic as an emergency with no appointment. My husband had to wait 2 hours until they took our pet in for examination. They came back with him with a completely wrong diagnosis and useless treatment. We still dont understand why they didnt order him an ultrasound right away. Also no blood tests done, no antibiotic, nothing. They sent him home with a pain reliever (sedative), a muscle relaxer, and told us to get a feliway hormone scent diffuser. They said it was a urinary syndrome caused by stress (no stressful home here). Doing an ultrasound could have saved us so much time and stress. Days after our emergency visit our cat kept peeing blood and going to the litter too frequently (more than normal - signing a blockage). If they had done this ultrasound they couldve found the blockage of crystals and mucous. We visited another vet who did it right away. If we had waited more time or continued with this misleading treatment, our cat would have been completely blocked and wouldve required surgery. His condition has since been efficaciously treated with a prescribed diet that dissolves crystal struvites. It was a simple ultrasound and a simple treatment that was needed. This place was a waste of time and money! At your request in your reply to this review post, you can look us up under my husband’s name Miguel Perilla.

It’s never a good time to have to go to an emergency vet, but he makes the process as calm, and easy as possible and he’s very frank and reasonable about the lives of our furry friends. He has been my vet for two of my animals on the way out. I couldn’t have asked for a more compassionate and honest person at such a hard time. He’s really a good human being. I just wish I could see him as a regular vet rather than just emergencies.

Oh where to start with these crooks...on May 12, 2021 my husky went into labor. she successfully had her first healthy pup at home and hours passed and she had contractions but no more puppies came. we were in panic and drove all the way to this place to help our husky. they took her in and did an x-ray where they found there were 2 more puppies. they could not confirm if they alive or not. they took forever to give us a quote when we had told them to just proceed with a c-section. still refused to proceed. my priority was saving our husky. finally, we got a quote and we paid the $2,200 with care credit and we left. as we were about to get home, they called us and let us know she had the second puppy and they were not going to do the surgery and to pick the husky up and have her give birth to the 3rd puppy at home. we picked her up and the person said we were refunded $1,995 to our care credit account. i got a bill of this as well for confirmation. our husky ended up having the 3rd puppy at home so there was no need for the surgery. fast forward to today when we check our care credit account and it says we still owe the $2,200. i called the clinic and they said they DID refund the $1,995 and we would have to talk to care credit. i just got off the phone with care credit where they confirmed they did NOT receive a refund from them at all. so here I am now wondering who is lying to me and who owes us our money. i started a dispute with care credit and this is going to take 2 months. i called the clinic again and the girl who answered was extremely sweet and patient. the office manager was not in until tomorrow morning so she said she would call us back today or wednesday but i need this taken care of tomorrow, not wednesday. if i dont hear back from them tomorrow, i will have to involve authorities since this is grand theft and they continue to give me the run around. dont go here. find people who actually care for your pet and their job and not about how much money they make. i will update this once i get a call or resolution.

I brought my dog in for the dog flu vaccine. The total cost was 124.00. It was partly my fault an additional 30.00 was charged due to a past allergic reaction. The total was still 94.00 which is more expensive than any where else especially since the initial quote was 75.00. The wait was extremely long during both visits (especially the first visit) and the hospital is just dirty. There was excessive dog hair in the waiting room and the exam area was dirty as well. They advertise not for profit but 100.00 for a dog flu vaccine is expensive so they are for profit. Do yourself a favor and take your dog someplace else!

Our 7 lb poodle, 9 years old, had an encounter with a Bufo toad (Cane Toad) yesterday while we were in the pool....didnt actually see the toad, but Cagney was exploring in the shrubs next to the house, and came out, with foam around his mouth. I gently rinsed out his mouth, as best I could, and he seemed ok for about 10 minutes, when he clearly wasnt ok, with stiffness/seizure activity. We called our vet and unfortunately he was in an emergency surgery, and we were referred to Pet Emegency and Referral Center, on Northlake Blvd. We arrived in the parking lot and one of the techs met us (this is COVID 19 time), took a quick history, and whisked Cagney inside for his evaluation. They kept us informed every step of the way, and he came home with us awake and alert, at the end of the day. The fees were surprisingly very reasonable, and as noted, everyone was just perfectly lovely.

They took Roxie right in and said they needed to keep overnight/turned out to be 2 nights. Was happy to be informed by the 2 Drs. Both nights was good and bad, I can handle that but what I can’t handle was the technician bringing her out and she was just not there I asked was she sedated and she said no just take her home and she’d sleep cause lights on and noisy. Ok I did nothing changed no eating or drinking. Next morning called and asked ? Not good help or answers . As a result she was shutting down and should have never come home, anyone could see that without a degree. Needless to say she passed that morning . Had called and asked for one of the Drs. to call me I’m still waiting and by the way it’s now to late. Drs. should have been up front and called us in to say goodbyes and end it but instead sent me home with another bill for meds that never will be used.

Do not go here for any reason. I brought my cat with an obvious paw injury. Because of COVID-19 I was not even allowed in the office when my cat was taken back for an “examination”. 15 minutes into his visit I get a call from the doctor telling me there is nothing wrong with my cat. The staff is nice, I will say that. But the lady brought my cat out and a bill for $150. Today, my cat is very clearly still limping, not eating and hiding. They made me pay $150 for nothing !!! I called back to get a refund and they put me on hold for over 20 minutes. Then some rude lady picked up the phone and told me a manager would call me back. I let her know it was urgent and that if the manager didn’t get back to me within the hour I would be calling my bank to dispute the charge to which she replied: THAT’S NICE and hung up the phone. No one ever wants to find themselves in a pet emergency situation but on the off chance you need immediate help for your fur baby, this is the place you want to go! On a Sunday morning I had to rush my puppy here after he collapsed in the yard drooling and shaking. While I was a complete mess, the staff was very calm and collected and performed their assessment of his condition within minutes of our arrival. After determining he was not in immediate danger, we sat in a room and waited for the doctor to come in. Yes, you may have to wait (sometimes hours) to get the attention and help you want, but its important to keep in mind that they are an EMERGENCY center so cases are handled in order of severity. Consider yourself lucky if they determine you dont need to be seen first because that means someone elses fur baby is in worse condition than yours. I would recommend calling on your way in if you think your animals condition is severe that way they can be prepared for your arrival and process you quickly. During my time there, 2 techs and 1 doctor came in to see my pup and all were very kind, knowledgeable, and patient. They took the time to listen to my concerns, watch the videos I had taken of his condition before we rushed to the ER, and they were direct and honest about his diagnosis and prognosis. They provided regular updates while he was hospitalized and answered all of my questions. My pup ended up staying over night which definitely came with an increased cost but as a dog mom I would pay anything for his safe return home so it was worth every penny to know they would give him the best care possible. I cant recommend them highly enough and we are grateful that they were able to provide the immediate care our pup needed when his regular veterinarian was not available.

Didn’t know anything that was wrong with my cat and overcharged me. Had to go twice with my cat sick & bleeding over the weekend and still no clue what was wrong with her. Asked for refund and they put me on hold for a whole day and still waiting!!! My actual vet in one day had to take my cat to surgery and charged less than the emergency care (without any treatment)!!!

I do not recommend. I brought my cat to Pet Emergency on Wednesday, February 12th 2020 due to him having trouble breathing. Within 10 minutes of me being there they handing me an estimated bill of $2,500. When my mom and I questioned the bill and asked to explained what procedures were being to be done to him the assistant became upset and starting shouting at us instead of being kind and understanding to our concerns she became frustrated. Then when I said I wasn’t able to afford that amount she went and talked to the doctor and came back with a $1,000 bill instead. Not only did this place come up with a random bill amount they would not explain what was being done. When asked to explain what procedures were being done and I received an agitated response from the staff. Horrible place.

I want to personally thank the entire staff at Pet emergency & Referral Center. Our 8 week old baby dachshund Pebbles came in and was diagnosed with parvovirus within minutes of arriving. All of the veterinarians on staff rotated around the clock for 4 days to keep this little puppy alive. Due to the nature of this virus, she did eventually pass but knowing that this team was working on her 24/7 reassured us that she was in the best hands possible. Thank you so much for all of the hard work and dedication. It was greatly appreciated.

Dr. Fiore is the absolute best. She performed surgery on my 12 yr old English Bulldog who was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. She was able to successfully remove the growths. She kept me informed every step of the way. Dr. Fiore takes her time explaining the process in such a way that you understand. Even with the pandemic her staff was super accommodating by bringing Big Bob out to the car for visits. They took really great care of my baby. He came back clean and looked very well kept. The surgery was a success and he is recovering nicely. This procedure probably added years to his life. Thank you so much Dr. Fiore for saving Big Bobs life! You are our hero!! I high recommend this place based on my own personal experience. Everyone working there really understands how these furry little creatures are our babies and part of our families and treat them accordingly. Oh! And Dr. Fiore gave us a discount!! Which was super appreciated.

We have heavy hearts today. But I am also thankful for the way these people handled the difficult task of taking care of sick and terminal animals. Im not sure I could do that everyday. The Reception staff (Barbara) are warm and welcoming. My little guy loves the nurse staff. And the Dr.s have done nothing short of making sure we had the best available info to make very tough decisions. Despite some others comments, I believe the people here do their best to make us make the best choice out of bad choices. Thats not easy to do. God bless.

Thank you Dr. Lechner and the wonderful staff at Pet Emergency And Referral Center. 6 months ago my dog was diagnosed with cancer. Dr. Lechner was recommended to me by another vet. When I called to make an appointment I was crying on the phone. They were fully booked, but Lauren asked Dr. Lechner if we could be squeezed in as an emergency visit and she agreed. Right away I felt good about going there. I loved Dr. Lechners positive attitude. All throughout my boys treatment she always treated him with love and compassion and respect. Plus she found a misdiagnosis from his previous vet right away. So we came up with a treatment plan. A few weeks later my dog had a freak reaction to a medication. He went into kidney failure. My baby was so sick, but Dr. Lechner saved him and brought him back to his normal self. Later, he had a surgery for another cancer with Dr. Fiore, who did a successful operation and who I liked as well. He fully recovered and was his usual happy, playful self. During this time Dr. Lechner helped me cut costs by recommending online pharmacies and giving me prescriptions. This helped a lot financially and gave us even more time with my boy.Sadly, this past week my boy got very sick and there were no more options. Dr. Lechner tried everything, and when the time came she was honest with me about his prognosis. I appreciate that she didnt string me along and prolong his suffering.Because of Dr. Lechner, my family and I got to have more quality time with my sweet, precious boy and we have so many good memories of that time. I cant thank her enough. I would also like to mention the wonderful staff there, I love them all.....Lauren, April, Laura, Jamie, Barbara, Kristen, Josh. They are all kind and caring and smart and my boy loved them. The facility is spotless and is open 24 hours with staff around the clock. I trust them and highly recommend them.

I initially called a couple other veterinary places before I got referred to the vet hospital on Northlake boulevard. My cats foot had swelled up to at least 2 or 3 times the normal size of a cats foot (mind you she is an outside cat). When I first arrived the nice lady at the front desk had already known I called earlier and ushered me into the back room immediately to get my cat checked in and ready to be examined. After a couple minutes of filling out the form to get my cat checked in, Dr. Michael west came in to assure me that my loved one was going to be just fine and also gave me options going forward as to how we could approach this to get her healed. He was very caring and actually shows compassion towards animals even though it is not his animal. I definitely recommend going here if you ever have any issue with your dog/cat. He cared for my cat (Cheech) as if it were his own!!

I’m glad they are open 24/7 and could help my dog. She was vomiting nonstop late last Sunday night and I had no idea why. They made her stop vomiting and now she is better. But I will say, when your pet is super Ill and your scared, it’s not pleaseant to hear the doctors and nurses giggling and laughing in the hall way. They should just keep in mind your worried and scared and keep it down a little. The male nurse did not give me the correct instructions. He told me my dog could have no water for 24 hours. Good thing I read the doctors instructions because he said to give her water in small amounts. 🤷🏻‍♀️I wouldn’t go here unless I had too, because like a human emergency room the prices are higher than a normal hours vet.

I took my dog in to get a quote to have a huge fatty mass removed. Dr. Fiorie examiner her. She quoted me a price of $4700 and said my dog would have to have a 1400 Cat Scan before she would do the surgery. I went to Juno Animal Hospital after that who said they would do surgery without a cat Scan and quoted me $1999. Then I went to PAWS 2 HELP and they are doing the surgery for $750, everything included no Cat Scan. Never take your dog to Emergency Vet because they only care about money and not your pet.

She is incredibly knowledgeable and compassionate with both pets and owners. These two are the perfect team and we are so fortunate to have them in Palm Beach County.

Woke up at 2 am to find her covered head to toe in hives and scratching herself bloody with shallow breathing, twitching all over the place. Immediately got in the car and drove here. They took her in the back and gave her the injections needed to stop the reaction and cooled down her fever. They saved my baby and I’m so thankful. She’s sore today and sleeping a lot but alive. Honesty is a trait that is missing these days. My sisters dog had a emergency and we were referred here after the emergency vet said we needed a neurologist asap. They called and said we were to see a Dr. Johnson. When we arrived a gentleman stepped into the room and gave us his name..We asked about Dr. Johnson. He told us she was not available and he would be taking care of us. Well after several trips out of the room and back again. He told us that the dog needed a MRI and possible other test. Ranging about 2500-3000 dollars. I finally asked if he was a neurologist. He told us he was not. But had been on the phone with Dr. Johnson. It was then I began to ask questions. For we had just seen a ER vet. He then became angry and told us if we werent interested in the test. Then the dog would die a horrible death. And he would recommend euthanasia. We decided to leave. Paid another emergency bill for absolutely nothing. My sister loves her dog so we contacted our regular vet who referred us to a true neurologist in Stuart..After a wonderful visit. And some answers. My sisters dog is on the road to recovery. If we had listened and trusted this place-my sisters dog would not be here today!! It saddens me that we were mislead. Animal deserve much better treatment then this. I will tell everyone who has gone here. Get a second opinion. Your pets life might depend on it..

This is the most unprofessional place I’ve ever visit. I called Pet Emergency office to check up on my FOSTER dog and the receptionist LAUREN hung up on me four times. At first I thought I lost service but when I called the second time and she yelled at me asking me “who is this?” After giving her my name for the third time ... she was hanging up on me AGAIN on purpose. She is very unprofessional and RUDE. When I asked her can I speak to the manager she hung up on me AGAIN and after calling again someone else said the manager is not there today and she also hung up on me AGAIN. This is the worst place in Florida. I was reading the other reviews before writing this one and WOW the reviews says a lot about this place. Think about this if they are treating customers like this imagine how they are treating our animals. Poor innocent sick pets they are probably getting ABUSED, and NEGLECTED..... I’m so disappointed.

Dr. Sean Thomas will laugh at your dying dog. He was the WORST, most vile vet I have ever met and Ive owned dogs for 30 years. We brought our Pomchi, Leo, here in an emergency because it was closer than veterinary specialty hospital. He was having a seizure and every minute mattered. When we brought him in, we handed him to the vet tech to get an IV catheter in. As soon as the doors closed, I heard wild laughter. I asked the receptionist excuse me, are they laughing? She assured me it wasnt about my dog. I said I dont care what it was about, it was disrespectful. I heard more laughter, so she walked back to tell them to be quiet. When she opened the door, I saw at least 5 people standing around my dog, LAUGHING.The doctor then came out and said hes sorry if we didnt like his approach, but he likes to keep the mood light and fun for his staff. I told him it didnt feel compassionate, this was an incredible emotional experience and I requested that they stop laughing. He told me hed try. I said, then could I ask your staff to stop? And he YELLED you better not! if you dont like it, you can take your dog to my competition, but hes probably going die on the way there.Who yells at a client when their dog is dying?!? AND talks about competition?! He seemed so disconnected and overly cheerful at the situation. He was talking a mile a minute about keeping his staff happy while my dog was in the back having a seizure. We decided to stay and told him we wanted to say goodbye to Leo. He said ok. A few minutes later, his vet tech brought Leo back to our room, so we could say goodbye before he was going to administer the lethal injection. I looked at Leo and said hes not breathing. The vet said, thats probably because we finally got his heart to slow down. He should start again soon. So, I asked to listen to his heartbeat. He reluctantly gave me his stethoscope. Nothing... He was already dead. The vet said oh, he must have just passed then. It was beating when we brought him in. ZERO COMPASSION. i couldnt believe it. He didnt even give us a chance to say goodbye. He was so concerned about stopping the wild party, and losing our business, he killed our little Leo and pretended like he was still alive when he brought him back to us. Putting your dog down is an incredibly traumatic experience for any pet owner. Dr. Sean Thomas ignored our requests to stop laughing, to be present in the room, and to have chance to say goodbye. No empathy, kindness or care for pets or their owners. We ended up taking his body to Veterinary Specialty Hospital, where Leo had been seen the last few times (and the where Vets have incredible bedside manner). We didnt want his body to be in that terrible place, to be laughed at.Emotions aside, this is exactly what happened. No pet owner should ever have to go through this and I hope others will benefit from this review.

Avoid this clinic. They will tell you your pet has neurological issues, when it is clear they ate something that didnt agree with them. They will not listen to your concerns, or observations and you will be made to feel that you must do their tests or you do not care about your animal. They had our cat for 43 hours of tests, blood work, etc, and still couldnt tell us what was wrong with her. $2,000, yes, for 43 hours of care, $2,000 later, we were finally allowed to take her home and it was as if nothing was ever wrong. No diagnosis, no explanation, but clearly no neurological issues, as I believe that would leave some kind of lingering issues....just something she ate that had to clear her little body, like we thought. What a rip off, find somewhere else.

We took our pitbull here in the middle of the night with a terrible laceration that we could not stop from bleeding, we were taken into a room right away and all the staff was nice and calm which is what we needed at the time of visit because my husband was already nervous because of all the blood. The staff knew what they were doing and told us promptly what they would be doing and presented an estimate which is less than i expected (not by any means cheap, but better than i was imaging!). They also gave us an estimated time frame, in which they met, and took care of our pup and even offer services for us that they generally do not take care of. I am grateful that they took care of us and stayed calm and professional.
