I had a cellphone replaced that took three weeks to get delivered! And once it FINALLY SHOWED UP!I turn it on i was able to update and put my Apple ID and everything on and used it for a total of six hours before the screen went completely blank out of nowhere. A supposedly certified device fails in less than SIX! Hours! Bs . The First Lady i worked with was nice, the second wasn’t bad but the third was unresponsive and hostile. Definitely not using protectcell again.

They replaced my mobile device which was ok until I changed my phone operator and discovered that it was locked when it wasnt supposed to. It wouldnt had been such a big problem if my previous operator could unlock it, but it took 6 weeks of back and forth and I was finally told that my device cant be unlocked. Apparently, its a refurbished device that is locked by a completely different operator (they couldnt help either). Now Im stuck with a phone that I cant use and ProtectCell is ignoring me. Oh, and I was charged $200 for it (+ 5 years of monthly insurance payments).I figured that their ratings are so low that they dont care if another bad review is added.

First of all I just called to cancel my service with them. I lost my phone and submitted for recovery. I was asked to provide information including the IME #. I did provide all the info but could not get the IME # I asked if there was a way they could help me find it. They said no and because I couldnt provide that number they will not be able to replace my phone. I will tell you to run away from their service. They person who received my call to cancel could not even ask why I was cancelling or any thing made me no how less I was valued as a customer. USAA should terminate their contract.

One star is too high a rating. I recommend that you have no insurance at all before you use this company. BTW, notice they have one 5 star review that was done by someone who just happens to live in the Detroit area. Same place as where Protect Cell is. What are the odds?

First I ordered a phone and didn’t receive it until I had to call them three weeks later and ask them where my phone was, then they said oh I didn’t tell them my phone was lost or stolen so It never got sent out. Um, that like was the first thing I said when I called to order another one. A week goes by and I get the replacement phone and it does not work either. This is the second replacement phone that I’ve had to order in about 4 months so that’s $200 each time. I asked them do they have a customer service department or someone I could speak to about getting a partial credit back because it it took so long to receive a broken phone, she said no she was the customer service rep. No. Customer service? In a business like that, If customer service was what you were doing then you would be out to help, she was a payment taker, stays put and takes payments. She was nice enough to tell me I could speak to a manager if i want but that’s it and you’re not going to get a different answer. I was looking for someone who had a little bit more knowledge on the policies not a handout not anything for free she just Wasn’t willing to budge on anything and then stated that there is no customer service only payment takers like her… If that isn’t the craziest thing I’ve ever heard I don’t know what it is because every business has a to have customer service. Not a department but someone with customer service experience. This is the most ridiculous insurance company I’ve ever dealt with. I guess you get what you pay for... if there were a different option for insurance companies for cell phones I would take it this would be my last pick, ever I just use it because it’s the only one. The place that they ship out of is here where I live and I asked them if I could even just go swap the phone now and they said no I’m not allowed to do that either so now I have to wait another week to get one in the mail when they are less than five minutes away from me.

When I purchased my phone I added their protection plan. I was informed if I did not use the plan I could do a buy back at the end of the two years. I upgraded today and can not do a buyback because It was the two year mark 3 weeks ago. I would have had to upgrade early to do a buyback. Makes no sense, so glad I wasted money on this more expensive protection plan

We spoke to Angela at Protect Cell this evening to resolve an issue with a faulty replacement phone. She was pleasant, cheerful, resourceful and very helpful! Thanks Angela for proving all the negative reviews wrong!Martha

I’ve had to replace 3 parts on a phone they refurbished. The battery went bad after about a month of getting it, then the front facing camera and speaker ribbon cable, then the ear piece speaker. As I was replacing them myself, I noticed not one of these parts were authentic apple parts and not supported by apple either. Just some Chinese knock off parts.

Worst insurance for phones! Do yourself and favor and just save your money or find a different insurance company. I have waited 2 days for my new phone. Finally I called in to find out what was going on. They told me that they were waiting to send the new phone out because they have not received the old device from a previous claim. I told them that it was lost, I stated this when I made the claim. They then told me that they would have to escalate it to the supervisor and they would call me back within 24 to 48 hours. Which I then replied how are you going to call me when my phone is broke and you wont send me the new one. I asked them if they could email me instead to which they replied no it is company policy that they can only talk to customers by phone. Doesnt it seem crazy to think that an insurance company that supplies people new phones can only talk to you by phone. That isnt even the worst part, the worst part is they already ran my credit card for the $200 deductible. I have used this company for a few years now and it is always some BS like this every time. I think it is time for a change and shame on me for not doing it sooner. Like I said before, save yourself the time, money and headaches. Find someone else to use for phone insurance!

Worst possible experience ever. Cancelled my plan twice and continued to get charges! Then when I called to speak with management was informed , we dont do refunds on out monthly plans.So...BasicallyTheyre stealing from their former clients.If I have another charge go through I will be reporting to BBB

By far the worst cell phone insurance company out there. Huge waste of money. They claim you are saving money because they charge a little less than other companies however, the refurbished phones that they send you are not in good condition. And they will always send you a refurbished phone. I had to call 4 different times before even getting a phone. The customer service was awful! Everyone gave me different information and they dont even guarantee that you will get the same phone that you have insured!!! SAVE YOUR money and your time! Go with another company that will actually give you the service and the phone that you have insured, even if you have to pay a little more. What a complete waste!

By far the most rude and inconsiderate telephone staff. I called to cancel my insurance after realizing they were not associated with my cell provider. I provided the necessary information to cancel the insurance. The call taker could not locate my account and said that my name was not in their data base. I explained that $$$ was deducted from my account every month and the account was in my name only. Reluctantly she located my account and complied with my request. Do your self a favor and DO NOT use this insurance carrier.

See what crazy thing about this company is they will keep sending you replacement phones without any problems so you would assume this is actually great Customer service. This is my 3rd replacement phone with them and every single one has different issues. They dont send you new phones but refurbished and control team obviously has no idea what goes out to consumers. Its time consuming and frusturation that you will go with them.

Absolutely the worst the experience of my life. Was sold on the benefit that if I never filed a claim i would be given a guaranteed buyback that exceeded the face value of the phone. sent in my perfectly working iPhone 4s with only very minor wear and was offered less than I could sell it on ebay for!!. I bought the plan on the selling point of the increased buyback value and now feel like I got ripped off because I already paid for the plan, never used it and cant even get a decent buyback value for the phone. Total Rip-off!!

THIS COMPANY SUCKS!!! these suckers ripped me off, I payed $55 for a 2 year contract. I called because my phone was cracked, they told me I ha to pay another $125 to fix the phone, even though I had the insurance with them. I told them that I already paid $55 for them to fix my phone, and they told me that it doesnt cover anything...I was ripped off $55 they are just out to steal your money. Dont take their service waste of time and money.

PLEASE DO NOT GET TRICKED INTO USING THIS INSURANCE!!!!!!!! If your manufacturer has its own insurance program, its definitely worth the extra money. In 6 weeks I have been sent a phone with a dud battery and cracked screen that became dangerously hot, and then another phone with the screen peeling off. When I called to send in the second Fortegra phone, they told me that I might incur administrative charges and an extra $200 deductible, all because they sent me two defective phones. The only reason I still use this insurance is because Im locked in, they dont use manufacturer certified replacement devices, so Im going to have to keep coming to them until they send me a non-lemon. Im a little shocked that a company this bad has avoided damning lawsuits, but I can honestly say that it is much closer to a racket than your average insurance company.

They actually sent me a fake iPhone. I sent them my 5c with a cracked screen Oct 2014 and the replacement was having issues so I took it to the Apple Dec 2014 store thinking it may have been a software update issue. Imagine my surprise when the Apple head technician came out to inform me that my phone was fake. It also violated FCC regulations as it was not have the proper FCC markings. What did the company do? Nothing. I was scolded for taking it to an Apple store, promised to receive calls from top supervisors which never happened and then left with two options A) send phone in and not have a cell phone for a week or B) allow them to put a $300 hold on my visa so they could send new one. Absolutely incompetent workers and the closest thing I got to an apology was a supervisor “Tony” (they will not give last names, contact info, dept. name etc.) who stated “It was not his fault the warehouse sent me a bad phone” I wonder whose it was? Mine? 1/8/2015

NEVER buy ProtectCELL insurance for your phone. Theyll ask for $200 up front to cover your phone for the duration of your contract and tell you that if you dont use it, you cant get a reimbursement (via a buy back). Sounds great, but heres the kicker: they dont tell you that you need to send them your phone within 30 days after the end of your Verizon contract. Better yet, they dont even give you a warning that its going to expire. To quote Cecilia in Customer Service, its a business decision not to send a [follow-up or reminder] email. I.e. they really hope that either you didnt know you only had 30 days or that you forget and they get to keep your $200. Side note: you dont get the full $200 back, just 25% of the current value of your phone. So maybe $100- also not explained.

I signed up for the $9/month plan for my Samsung Core Prime which cost me $200 retail. I didnt realize the damage deductible was $125 for my phone. Ive already spent $80 on the insurance overtime. Such a high deductible is absolutely absurd. That was a complete waste of my money. I will never use them again.

DO NOT USE PROTECTCELL. I was told that if my phone were to break or crack, I could receive a new one just by paying $200 upfront. When my screen did crack, I called in and was told that if I inflicted the damage then I would have to pay a deductible of of $150!! Not what I was told when I was purchasing ProtectCell! Save your time and money and please do not buy ProtectCell.

Not only did my replacement phone not work, but when I called customer service to ask to return the phone for a refund, the customer service agent hung up. I brought the replacement phone to an Apple store and the device has no serial numbers, meaning there are more replacement parts on the phone then real Apple parts. I talked to customer service a second time and should be receiving a FedEx shipping label and my money back however it took of an hour of negotiating to get even that. Terrible company. Terrible service. Terrible product. I wish I had read the reviews before I decided to do business with ProtectCell

Wifes Iphone 6s started acting funny, protect cell replaced it no problems since, they are very good for 9$ a month not bad at all compared to the hassle of dealing with asurion and AT&T it was a breeze.

Waste of money. You pay a monthly insurance premium and if you need to make a claim you get a poorly refurbished phone instead of a working replacement. Several people in our family have had the same experience. We gave up - theyre a total rip off.

Absolutely terrible company for all the reasons described by other users. They send you refurbished phones that hardly work. Do not waste your time and money.

I used to sell this insurance, but I refuse to anymore... I am infuriated that I sell it to customers and this company continuously dissapoints by sending back damaged phones, sending phones from the wrong carrier, and not sending them at all because its on backorder. Cecilia, a customer service rep, has shown no remorse or care for any issues with the customer, and that was the last straw. Do yourself a favor and go with Assurian next time.

I would rate this zero stars if I could. They give no way to simply login to your account and cancel your plan. And the plan isnt worth ****! If you wish to cancel, you have to cancel them directly.

From what I can tell this is just a money pit. I was told if a phone breaks they will replace it free of charge. My brothers phone broke and they charged him full price minus the amount he had payed to them already over the months. On top of that they sent him a used phone with no battery to replace it.
