Peter is a great great trainer who really understands body mechanics and who constantly keeps working on learning and improving at his craft. His approach to every client seems to be highly individualized. He has taught me how to correctly perform a lot of different movements while explaining what exactly happens in your body when you do them, which really ends up making a noticeable difference in terms of injuries and strength. Out of the several trainers Ive met over the years Peter is by far the best.
I have been seeing Peter for 10 months and he is excellent. I have a history of back issues and he focuses on making sure my form correct at all times. He pays attention to detail and makes sure that each workout is different but effective. I have enjoyed my time with Peter and plan to continue to work with him for the long term.
I highly recommend Peter as a personal trainer. I have been with him for may years and he has worked with me on getting my body to where I wanted it to be. I have never been one to participate in sports or know anything about weight lifting. He has taught me how to properly work specific areas of my body. He is someone who always makes sure you are doing the exercises correctly. He makes you feel comfortable, explains things fully and is easy to work with. I high recommend Peter to anyone who is looking for a fantastic trainer!
A Cut AbovePeter Helmes of Vigor Transformations is a gem.Whether you’re an athlete training to repair an injury or an octogenarian who’s never stepped into a gym (or someone in between like me), Peter meets you where you’re at and works with you at a pace that will improve your conditioning, flexibility, and core strength.Over the years at various gyms, I have had three trainers. I believe that working with a trainer is the safest and most reliable way to make progress. I have been blessed by each of the trainers I’ve worked with. But Peter’s knowledge of the human body, particularly the interconnections of the muscular system, make him a standout. Perhaps due to his former training as a masseuse, he has shown me how to work through or around any strain or ache. He knows how to tweak an exercise for maximum effect, and he recognizes when I’m not working an exercise properly. For above all, with Peter, form matters . . . NOT the number of reps or the heft of the weight. If you are doing the exercise without proper form, you’re risking injury at worst, or at best wasting your time. These are the main reasons to work with a trainer: to gain strength and to avoid injury. If you’re in the market for a trainer who will meet you where you’re at and safely help you reach your goals, look no further.
I’ve been training with Peter for several years and I would recommend him highly for any kind of physical training. Peter has an exceptional understanding of the human body mechanics’ and tailors my training sessions to meet my specific training/rehabilitation needs. His professionalism and passion for what he does is second to none.
I have trained with Peter for 3 or so years. He is very knowledgeable and the small groups are very friendly.I am a senior citizen and have just had double knee replacement surgery (ouch!). My Physical Therapist tells me that my leg muscles are in great shape and thats why Im progressing with rehab so well - all thanks to Peter!
I have been training with Jason via Peter for the last 8 months. I came to the gym with chronic back pain and a chronic shoulder injury despite several rounds of physical therapy. I can happily say that my back pain is gone (turns out with was from weak glutes) and my shoulder pain is MUCH better. Ive made major strides in strength and functionality which were my primary goals. A bonus has been a 35lbs weight loss. I HIGHLY recommend Jason and Peter. Their knowledge of body mechanics, anatomy and functional goals has been invaluable to me.
I’ve been training with Peter for a year now, and highly recommend him – it’s been a wonderful year and he really has changed my life. I’ve lost weight, gained energy and happiness, and now do everything better and stronger. Peter is highly skilled; he makes sure I exercise correctly and effectively (which I know I would not do on my own), and has kept me injury free, so that I can fully enjoy life. In the small groups, where the people are very nice normal and friendly, he still gives each person a lot of individual attention. His approach is thoughtful and methodical (but he also varies things to keep it interesting and adds fun things like martial arts, outdoor boot camp, punching/kicking, competitions), to improve strength, range of motion, and flexibility so that I’ll have good functionality into later years (OK yes I’m middle aged). Peter is a responsible, respectful, and thoughtful person, and I have only had good experiences with him.
Peter is one of a kind trainer. I have been to many professionals in my life, but Peter outpace them in his knowledge of the body structure and flow. I feel great throughout.
I am happy to tell you that I have been training with Peter, the owner of Vigor Transformations, since sometime in the fall of 2010 (if my memory serves me correctly). His analysis of my specific needs has been accurate while taking into consideration the fact that I have an injury which caused significant weakness and ongoing pain in my right ankle.Since working with Peter, I have received many compliments about the changes in my appearance. Not only can others see the difference - I FEEL the difference. Additionally, since he pushes me to new limits, my overall physical strength and endurance has greatly improved.Peter’s easygoing nature makes him a pleasure to work with but it is his extensive knowledge of training, diet, body mechanics, psychology and physiology that makes his sessions so different. In the time I have been working with him, I have finally experienced the kind of success that makes me believe – “yeah this is why I do this”.He changes my workout by introducing new routines that keeps me from getting bored and my muscles from not responding. His comprehensive approach which may include stretching, yoga, balance, core work and cardio as well as weight training, challenges me to move beyond what I “think” I can do to what I “can” do.Peter is truly on my team and he motivates me to keep coming back. And there is nothing more motivating than success. Thanks Peter!Oh and by the way, I went from a size 14 to a size 2 - OH YEAH that works for me!!!
Ive been training consistently with Peter for over 6 years and hes kept me in good and balanced shape, increased my flexibiility and range of movement, and helped me significantly strengthen my weak areas. So in many ways Im in better shape than I was 15 years ago.In addition to being an outstanding trainer, very observant and knowlegeable in a number of areas, and patient when Im a bit slow to integrate his suggestions; I continue to be impressed with his willingness to revisit and revise his own state of the art, to not rest on his laurels. And I have directly benefited from that attitude, his latest suggestions are helping me make measurable progress on my most stubborn imbalances, and that is very important to me personally.
Peter is the best. Ive been working with him for about nine months. He is very knowledgeable about biomechanics and has helped me gain strength, balance and fitness despite a number of injuries that had been keeping me on the couch for years. He has an uncanny sense of how to build strength in little-used muscles in order to offload injured tendons, joints, and muscles. He can work well with clients of all ages and abilities. The group sessions are fun and have already made a huge difference in my life. I could not recommend him more highly.
I began working with Peter about 4 years ago so I could tone up and get a bit stronger. I was so pleased with the results that I got and I learned so much from him about proper form and lifting weights! I got more than I asked for. He is very patient and focused, breaking down each movement and learning your body mechanics. My strength, confidence, endurance and energy all increased exponentially from working with him. Definitely recommend contacting Vigor Transformations! He will help you reach your goals no matter what they are.
I have been working with Pete for over 3 years. Pete is always willing to modify exercises in order to meet your physical abilities. Since working with Pete, my form and strength have greatly improved. If you are looking for someone is patient and knowledgeable then Pete at Vigor Transformations is the place to go!
Peter is dedicated to his work and loves training all types of individuals. He taylor’s each work out to fit the need of the client. He is not only my husband, he is the best trainer I know!
Ive been working with Peter for 4 years now. Ive been an athlete all my life. Once I hit 26, I knew I needed to start working out more.Pete and I took all my measurements, and put together a plan. Within 3 months we dropped my body fat % from 17% to 11%. Built lean muscle, and got in great shape.Hes extremely knowledgeable about the human anatomy, and shows you many workouts to fit your body type.I moved from Newton 3 years ago, and now drive 40mins just to see him, because hes that good.If youre on the fence about working out, go in and see him. Hell get you where you need to be and feeling great
Ive trained with Peter for about two years. Hes done so much for me. Mentally and physically. When I had first started training , my goal was to loose all my pregnancy weight. I was scared, had zero confidence in myself, and no clue where to begin, to get rid of this baby weight, I just wanted it gone! I hadnt worked out since before getting pregnant with my twins. He always makes sure his clients goals are met. Hes a perfectionist at what he does. Ive learned so much from Pete, hes very educated, and cares about his clients. I cant thank him enough for all hes done for me.
Peter is outstanding. I found him by sheer luck - hes the closest personal trainer to my house - but Im very glad I found him. Two years ago, my bad knees (cartilage) had me crippled for 10+ years: unable to hike or climb stairs; able to walk only short distances. He set up a 2x/week program for me (not so easy given that Im bad at working out on my own, and traveling constantly), and within a year everything had changed for the better. I was much fitter overall, and able to hike, climb steps, and walk almost endlessly while on a recent two-week vacation.Peter offers both private and group classes, is very flexible on scheduling, and seems to do a great job of building highly individualized programs - assessing the strengths and weaknesses of every client and adapting accordingly.I support everything that others have said in their reviews: he really knows his stuff, and has a great and encouraging work style. Give him a try; youll be glad you did.
Great trainer, great person, highly recommend.
