Had a wonderful recent stay with friends. Laura Burton went above and beyond to make it a special trip for us. All of the staff I encountered were friendly and helpful. I also appreciate that they are making efforts to getting the executive lounge back up to full service- the breakfast was nice. I enjoyed my time so much that Im returning with my husband next week to celebrate our anniversary.

Access to the hotel is convenient. I love how it is located right across the street from Central Park. I was able to go for a run in the mornings! The lobby was magnificent, and everyone was so accommodating, and everyone greeted us with an authentic smile and hello!I couldnt give them 5 stars because the rooms were tiny and the lightning wasnt great. Also, the bathroom shower had mold and mildew around the corking. I happen to be picky about hotel bathrooms, and this one didnt do it for me.Thats my 2¢ now you decide!

I was sideswiped by a NJ Transit Bus upon my entrance to the Lincoln Tunnel which was a less than ideal way to start my trip to NYC. Upon arrival, I was greeted by a staff member who saw the damage and assured me that he would find a temporary fix by my departure time.Check in was smooth and an issue with my park view room was quickly and appropriately addressed by the manager on duty.Concierge was able to recommend and make reservations for dining on all days of my trip. Concierge was also able to explain and detail on a map the best way to utilize the subway system, which saved a significant amount of time and money for us.Upon departure, the same fine gentleman that greeted us was waiting with a replacement driver side mirror.Really, who does that?My first stay in NYC and my new home upon any return!

Amazing hotel! Right in the South entrance of Central Park! The staff went above and beyond to accommodate us in a busy day, on a Central Park view room. The Hotel is serving continental breakfast due to social distancing restrictions, restaurant and room service remains close at the moment however Felix and the Concierge gentleman (i believe his name is Kevin) gave us a list with the best options in the area to dine in or order for pick up, as well as some recommendations to visit while in the area. The hotel looks immaculate, the rooms are very clean, we couldn’t be happier. 100% recommended if you want to stay close to everything in Manhattan and Central Park.

We have stayed here many times with our two kids and will be back again next time. The location is perfect for us, the beds are comfortable and service is good. On this most recent stay, Gemyra went out of her way to help us with getting a room similar to the layout we had stayed in a few days prior (we needed it for work/zoom reasons). She went above and beyond and we were much appreciative.

I have spent more than 14 nights here for business assignment, but disappointed with ladies at the front desk. I never been humiliated and received such indignity treatment as I received at JW Marriott New York! On my last nights, my room keys did not work and I went to the reception to activate it, however they ask me to pay the rest of the stay amount fully otherwise I will be sleeping out and I am not allowed to go to my room!! When I asked them to go to my room to bring my credit card, they asked me to wait until the security man comes and take me to me room waiting for me until I get my credit card!!!!!! Moreover, the lady at the reception desk forgot me and kept me waiting for more than half an hour waiting for the security man!! Then she came and to apologize for forgetting me and say it with a rude voice!!!When I went upstairs to meet the security man, he discovered that the problem is not the keys it was the battery for the card reading is low and he changed it!!!!Such humility experience received here is not acceptable from 5 star hotel. Worst hotel experience ever and I will never stay in this discourteous hotel. I should stay until September 11 at room 529 but I will check out tomorrow.. Very BadThough I am staying for a long period, the services given are not as expected from 5 stars hotel. There is no water, no coffee maker in the room and their excuse is due to COVID 19, although the next door hotels like Ritz they allocate coffee maker, bottles of water! It’s gusts job to bring the water bottles everyday from the reception! The bathroom is so dirty and the bathroom sink is blocked. When I called service line, they were unable to help and they did not answer my calls!! Hotel deserves a 3 star max.👎

This place feels more like a self service apt than an iconic 5 star hotel. There is no water, no kettle/coffee maker in the room. We had to pick up water bottles everyday from the reception. After repeatedly asking for a kettle, they brought one but it was disgusting so I had to ask for hot water daily. If you don’t pay for a high floor Central Park view room, the chance of them giving you a generous upgrade is close to zero. They made it clear to us that they get a lot of ambassadors and titanium members, and there is only limited rooms for Marriott status upgrade. So work your totem pole. I would recommend bring your money and status else where, you might get a much better view room. One of the managers was nice enough to give us one category upgrade for titanium membership, the family suite was comfy in terms of the size, nothing luxurious. But seriously with no view, there is no point of staying in this location unless you think you are in love w Central Park. The good restaurants and interesting scenes are mostly downtown. Lastly, the executive lounge is a joke, no window, the free breakfast is a 3 star max, not even a glass cup for your cappuccino. You have to pay to sit in their Southgate restaurant for the same breakfast. The only worthy pic of the hotel is the entrance flower bouquet and the chandelier hallway, there is no other interesting common area to enjoy yourself which is very much a design mistake. If you are used to Marriott JW Asian and Middle Eastern standards or even European 5 star standards, this hotel apart from its iconic status and location deserves a 3.5 star max. Of course they attribute the lack of service to Covid. The employees are overworked, often they mentioned they had to do 2-3 people’s jobs for the pay of one due to lack of workers. I feel for you, but if you are charging the rate you are charging, your clients expect a certain level of service.

I write this review after giving the JW Essex House more than 2 months to follow up on a serious incident I experienced while staying at this property. As the highest level of Marriott Loyalty status (Ambassador Elite) I am still dumbfounded by the Essex house’s lackluster dedication to customer service and health concerns. In June, I booked a stay at this property to celebrate my wife’s birthday. I had my Ambassador assist me with this booking in hopes of having the best possible stay. At arrival I was greeted by a lovely receptionist. Her name escapes me, but she was Filipino and was the only reason this review was given more than 1-star. Unfortunately, the rest of the stay was incredibly disappointing. Typically, with status I have access to the lounge, which was only partially true, at the Essex House. The first afternoon of arrival they “closed” the lounge for some unknown reason. When I inquired, no one had any answers. For all the reviews about how knowledgeable and helpful the staff that I’ve read about this property it could not have been further from the truth during my stay. Onto the most egregious and unbelievable experience was upon my return home the following day. Shortly after having arrived home I noticed my leg was itchy. After further investigation it appeared as though I had bug bites. The same was found on my wife’s legs as well. BED BUGS! I contacted the hotel promptly to notify them of this. During my phone conversation with the receptionist, I was told that the manager on duty was gone for the day and that a message would be left for that person when they return the following day. I emphasized on this call the importance of making sure that any other guests who might currently be in our same room be notified. I was told the manager would contact me the following day. To my surprise two days had passed before, I had to follow up. ME! The hotel guests who had bites on OUR legs had to escalate the concern with A SECOND phone call. The hotel then tried connecting me with the manager. Her name is Laura Burton. Laura shared with me that other hotel guests were staying in our room and that they could not enter to conduct a bedbug inspection until they checked-out. Once they did, she would have their “specialist” come in to provide an assessment and follow up with me regarding the findings. Guess what happened next? NOTHING. No follow, yet again. Quite the showing from management here so far, right? Anyhow, after I called to personally follow up again because our legs were still itching, I finally hear back. I was told that the inspection found no bedbugs, but the official report could not be shared with me. Instead, Laura offered to open a case and pass me onto Lourdes Morales and Carlos Melendez. After multiple email exchanges and scheduled call times to discuss – no one ever followed up. Shocking? Not really. As previously stated, this lack of concern and follow up doesn’t quite live up to the JW name most of us have come accustomed to. Bottom line - do not stay at this hotel. You’ve been warned - if you get bedbug bites during your stay at the JW Essex House no one will care. Your pleas to be a responsible citizen ,so that other don’t experience the same, will go unheard.

Even while short staffed during the Covid pandemic, the service was still great. Restaurant, housekeeping, front desk and management went out of their way to assist us with our requests. Stunning lobby and facility. What little staff they had were very polite and helpful, but no amenities and an anemic breakfast bar made this way less than five stars. The room which faced GCP, was nicely appointed, but housekeeping had failed to get the prior occupant’s dirty undies out of the drawers and adequately dust the nightstands. Marriott can and should better than this and stop using the pandemic as an excuse for minimal service in what could be a fabulous hotel.

As others have mentioned, other than shampoo and soap there are NO amenities in the room (not even a pen) and they have eliminated everything else due to covid -- this is a total lie, as their staff is unmasked. I love the old NYC Central Park South feel. The building is classic, and does not disappoint.Service is excellent and I think the drawbacks are due to the Wuhan Virus counter-measures required by the City of New York. The room was of course spotless, fresh, and felt luxurious. As it is a Grand Dame of NYC, it is solidly built and therefor very quiet, with almost zero ambient noise.I might suggest that the hotel security attire is not a good idea. While I appreciate knowing the premises are secure, the black polo shirts emblazoned with “SECURITY” across the back, gave the feel of bouncers at a club, often crowded near the front entrance. I haven’t had this experience at a Marriott before.Altogether an excellent experience, and I will always choose a Marriott hotel when possible.

The hotel currently isn’t offering room service. The restaurant and spa are closed. Laundry services are irregular. And they have taken out minibars from all the rooms. They don’t even provide water! While still charging luxury rates! They are conveniently stating that the disruptions are “due to Covid” but the truth is that Marriott is cheap. The manager admitted to me that these services have been suspended because of economic reasons. Marriott continues to pay its executives millions, while treating their customers (I am an Ambassador Elite member - and that no longer means anything) like absolute dirt.

My husband and I are New Yorkers (well, we moved abroad in 2018 but we were raised there) and we could not recommend this hotel enough to anyone in need of a short or long stay in the city. During the pandemic, we have stayed at the Bryant Park Hotel, Aloft, Hilton Millennium, and JW Marriott Essex House is hands down the most comfortable, safe and beautiful place to stay. Not only is it perfectly located on Central Park South so you can get all the exercise and fresh air you need every day, but you are also a block or 2 from Columbus Circle where all the shops are open and the best Whole Foods I’ve ever been to is located downstairs. We were able to get groceries for our son any time because WF is open early and closes late. If the endless cold and hot selection at WF is not enough for you, we were able to order anything we craved from DoorDash and UberEats AND the hotel staff would bring our orders to our room. Housekeeping was available every day until 2:30pm but we didn’t bother because our suite was provided with enough amenities and towels from the first day. I have Marriott status so we were upgraded to a junior suite from the King room I had booked and we were given a beautiful room (no view, but a girl can’t get everything she wants in Manhattan all the time) but we needed a bathtub for our baby and the room was huge but we needed to work so some division of space was preferable while our baby napped and played during the day. The staff was incredibly responsive and moved us to another suite immediately. Although the restaurant and other facilities was closed, there was always someone at reception and a bellman/security at the front doors to help in whatever way they could. The hotel has a very convenient back entrance on 58th Street as well. Tons of COVID testing sites are around the hotel which was appreciated since we needed to get PCR and rapid tests to return to Europe, and the hotel staff printed out all our necessary documents we may need for our flight. The manager also approved a late checkout for us since our departing flight was at 8pm from JFK and so we were able to have our baby nap in our room and have sufficient time to pack up and tidy up before calling a Lyft. Drop off and pick up is also very convenient at this location because Centra Park South has so many lanes unlike most other NYC blocks. We benefited from very mild weather so we meandered through Central Park to feed the ducks, watch ice skaters and even walked up to the Museum of Natural History on 80th St which was open to the public by reservation. For the more touristy people, Rockefeller Center and Time Square are a short walk away. The Apple Store is a block away as is the Plaza where I used to enjoy a fancy afternoon tea. Lincoln Center is also very close but closed because of COVID and for renovations. Our room provided a much needed respite and was very quiet and came with 2 big TVs so we were able to play YouTube kids videos on one while I watched HBO on the other! Lavazza coffee, bottled water, fresh fruit and other snacks like KIND bars were provided every morning until 11am and was much appreciated for us jetlagged travelers! The hotel is gorgeous and incredibly clean and well kept so we enjoyed our stay thoroughly. We have stayed at the JW Marriott in Hong Kong so it was nice to see some familiarity/consistency like in the Aromatherapy bathroom products. On our second day, the hotel staff gave our baby a puzzle and little stuffed animals which he absolutely loved, so thank you again! I would recommend booking this hotel before prices go up again once borders open up and tourists flood back into NYC!

The location of the hotel is fantastic, right across from Central Park and a 15 minute walk from Times Square. Being a shopaholic all the favourite stores were a 15 minute walk away (though I walk rather quickly). The rooms were up to date and modern. The lobby area could use a freshen up but as it’s an old building it adds to the charm I guess. The gym looked slightly tired from the constant use but was still very good. The staff were friendly and efficient. But slightly distant, if they were more engaging it would make this place an outstanding hotel. He makes you feel warm and very welcomed. The location of the hotel is wonderful which is right on Central Park. The hotel overall is nice but it is NOT a 5 Star property. It’s a nice 4 Star hotel with nice rooms that are appointed accordingly. The major challenge at this hotel is the poor restaurant, bar and lobby experience. All of this is that of a very basic Marriott and is a huge letdown especially in NY. Poor food and bar quality and the general atmosphere of the restaurant it terrible. The entire concept needs to be modernized and should be much nicer. The staff were perfectly nice but not sophisticated. This food, bar and beverage service feels very much like a 3 star hotel experience.Lastly, this hotel does not have 24 hour room service which I find unacceptable for a luxury property in a city like Manhattan.Overall a nice hotel with lovely staff that care about the guests. First of all the location of this hotel cannot be beat - directly on Central Park and within walking distance to most everything (assuming you like to walk!). There is a destination fee but you do get a $35/day food and Bev credit. We used it for nightly wine in executive lounge. No upgrades (titanium) and with booking on points, only can book lowest category room - great view of a brick wall. Rooms are nice size though! They did give us $50 F&B credit again - never used. Restaurant looked nice, but very pricey even by NY standards. Executive lounge was “OK”. Same food choices every night - chicken, salad and rice. Thought was good, the first night, but got old. Nice wine selections for the price! No evening service in rooms except on the last night. Service not exceptional for this caliber of hotel. While we got the nicest room available at the time, it wasn’t the nicest room we have stayed in, because the vent would make a loud thump periodically. The room was adequate for us, and we enjoy having access to the lounge for breakfast and evening snacks. Even though the food is inclusive, I wish the chef would sample the dishes. There was wild rice with cranberries that looked tasty, but some of the rice was undercooked, which made for an unpleasant dish.We also took advantage of the ice skating passes which was a lot of fun. Be sure to take advantage of the resort credits, because they have to be used daily. We should have used the laundry service, because we had come from a trip in San Francisco. Unfortunately I didn’t realize it until our last day. Overall, Essex House is our choice to stay for value, location, quiet, and amenities.

Nice staff. Nice decor. My AC didn’t work ... The restaurant was fine ... I was there for business. Near Central Park but it was February and winter, so wasn’t about to walk around in the cold rainy weather. I’m sure it’s lovely in the spring tho.

I wish at this point I can give 0 stars. Planned two bridal suites for my wedding 4 months in advanced. Notes were received that it was for a wedding, champagne and other amenities promised. The day before my wedding we arrived and we were put in a downgraded suite tv not working, no amenities, an ultimate disappointment. We called downstairs and they told us that our suite was not ready yet (mind you it was 4pm) and that they figured they would put me in this room. They apologized and said they would prep the other room. The new room took another hour to prepare and luckily my husbands room was nice enough that we had our stuff moved in there. The keys to the rooms we had to go to the front desk numerous amounts of times because they werent working. When we were on our way to our wedding after having to get ready with 9 people in the room, the cleaning service called us and mentioned they would come at 5pm to clean the room and have it prepared for when we got back to the suite at 12:30 after our wedding. After a 16 hour wedding day photos, getting ready, and our wedding we were on cloud 9 arriving back to the suite where we saw that the cleaning crew never showed up and our room still had garbage cans filled and everything was a mess. We then called the front desk where once again an Im sorry was said and they sent a cleaning crew up so we all cleaned the room at 1230 exactly how I wanted to spend the rest of our wedding night. Following the next day we received our checkout bill and we were double charged over 1000 from a mistaken fee that was added on. Apologies galore, but that doesnt change the fact that I have extra money pending on my card. Youd think after all of this chaos some sort of compensation would be given. NOPE. For the money we spent and the excitement we had for our suites for our wedding was an ultimate nightmare. As an previous employee of Marriott, I was very disappointed.

The JW Marriot/Essex House is a beautiful hotel with amazing views of Central Park if your fortunate enough to have a room with a view. If not, the rooms are still fabulous. The beds are incredibly comfortable, the bath towels are gigantic and the robes and slippers are great too, very soft & comfy. The rooms themselves are very spacious, especially for NYC. Every member of the staff is pleasant, and aim to please. Upon arrival someone takes your bags and delivers them to you room. Check-in is quick and easy, especially if you use the Marriot App & are a rewards member. Special requests are never a problem and the breakfast buffet in the executive lounge is first class. This property is one of a kind and not to be missed.

We spent a week at the JW Marriott Essex House on Central Park South in August. We stayed in a junior suite. Our view was of surrounding buildings. I should have requested a park view. The room was always cold, 10 degrees colder than the thermostat setting. I like it cold. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The in-room dining menu was limited after hours, but the whole in house menu was limited. The location is the best in NY. Across the street from central park, far enough north from Times Square. Plenty of shopping nearby. Museums galore. Several nearby subway stations, so getting around the city wasnt a problem. Of course, taxi and Uber/Lyft service readily available. I dont intend this as a negative review, its just the way I experienced things and would highly recommend this hotel if staying in NY.

The Essex House has been a renowned New York property for nearly 100 years! Marriott is thankfully the owner/operator again after a variety of groups,Reception and the lobby are gorgeous, and have maintained their classic looks and luxury. The suites are updated in a contemporary fashion that is really beautiful, and the furnishings and beds are extremely comfortable. Bathrooms are wonderful, with great fixtures. We had a roomy separate shower that had great water pressure and shower heads. Perfect! What a joy to be back at the Essex House! The staff on the door are old friends for years, and are welcoming and very helpful. Our Reception agent, Hannah, took phenomenal care of us, and it is clear her customer service focus, coupled with a lovely, warm demeanor, are superb and far superior to the norm!We are very excited to return, and look forward. A truly spectacular experience! As Marriott/Starwood Lifetime Platinum members, we recognize this property as one of the best! Thank you one and all at The Essex House!

I had an excellent weekend stay last weekend at the JW Essex House. Upon arrival on Friday evening I asked and was upgraded to a lovely room overlooking Central Park. I felt like I was in a movie. The newly renovated rooms are very comfortable and much more modern. I loved hanging out on the chaise lounge/couch and watching the street/park activity from my room. Bellman and front desk staff were excellent. Definitely use the Concierge to arrange your dining reservations. I was able to get in places that showed “no availability “ for times that fit my needs! Concierge lounge is great, good breakfast. Very secure property. Also had cocktails in the Southgate Bar Restaurant and Oliver introduced me to my new favorite, Flower Sour! Met lots of fun and interesting folks in this spot. Had lunch up the block at Marea! Pricey but worth it. Walked through the park, simply lovely. I am from NY but always find something new and interesting to do. I do not like the new $25.00 tourist fee (that’s what I call it) that Marriott has tacked onto the room fees for things I will never use.

This property is an iconic property on central park south and it is an amazing experience to stay here. The building is definitely old but generally well maintenained and clean. The staff is very friendly and their attention to detail is incredible. The rooms are smaller than you would get in other cities, but that is common to all Manhattan hotels. Our bathroom was impeccably clean, the room smelled fresh, and the furniture didnt feel worn out or dated. If youre looking for an uptown location, you really cant go wrong staying here. Keep in mind, this hotel is pricey, as its one of the most expensive neighborhoods in Manhattan. They dont call the area Billionaires row for nothing.

From the time we arrived at The Essex House we were impressed. The valets were great, check in was a breeze, housekeeping was very attentive. Security in the lobby made us feel safe and they doubled as kind and friendly ambassadors of the hotel. Restaurant service was fantastic and the food was excellent. (I might have to come back just for the perfectly cooked Eggs Benedict) Thanks to the management, who usually go unheralded and unseen. Kudos to the excellent managers and staff. We’ll be back!Thank you.

The JW Marriott Essex House truly exceeded any expectations I had for a NYC getaway. Steps from Central Park, the hotel felt truly magical. The lobby was filled was a nice mix of people either there visiting or for business. The hotel felt modern but had that old NYC charm, the staff was outstanding and every detail felt luxurious. The bedding was so comfortable and the restaurant South Gate was incredible. I can still taste the capers added to my bagels, cream cheese and lox along with their signature fresh squeezed orange pomegranate juice. I can’t wait to escape again to the JW Marriott Essex House.

Great location, especially for guests willing to walk a little bit. My wife & I went north & south from the Marriott 25 blocks, as well as through part of Central Park, very enjoyable. Close to lots of restaurants & not too far from theaters of 2 shows we saw, at Imperial Theater & Beacon Theater. Room was clean, well serviced by housekeeping, & spacious. Concierge (David) directed us to nearby Italian restaurant & Greek restaurant, both very good & reasonably priced for the city. We took the subway to 9/11 Museum, got tickets through concierge, which was helpful b/c allowed anytime use that day.Front desk very welcoming & helpful (especially Melvin). Waiters at bar & restaurant all very cordial & attentive. They helped me overcome my distaste for that pesky destination fee. We did not get asked about discounts for seniors & veterans (both of which I qualify as) for my ticket to 9/11 Museum, & I simply forgot to ask if they were offered.Usefulness of having small refrigerator delivered to room not to be ignored, great place to let bottled water get cool, & to store leftovers from meals.

As a business traveler I find the JW Marriott Essex House to provide me a level of professional service that makes nights away from home much more enjoyable - if not something I look forward to. From the moment of arrival the warm welcome from the outstanding valets and bellmen, an efficient and personal check-in experience, to the requests as to what more can be done? just makes for a great stay! Ive enjoyed access to the executive lounge for breakfast (Titanium Status), and the outstanding service in the bar - whether for a drink, catch a bit of a game, or just passing on through to chat. The experience continues with the service of the ever present security guards - so I always feel well protected as a female - generally travelling on my own. Let me also mention the wonderful warm smiles and excellent support with the housekeeping teams that are always present to make the room perfect, and find for you whatever else you may need. So some of you reading this may say oh thats easy when youre on an expense stay and moneys no object - but thats not the case - as money is always important - measured in value for price paid. I love the JW Marriott Essex House and select it for personal trips to NYC during special holidays with friends - on my own dollar. I picked the JW way back in the day when I had a much smaller pay check, no status anywhere and just wanted to have a beautiful Central Park luxury hotel experience with my buddies. Over the years weve continuously been treated like royalty - having sooooo much fun with everyone on staff - and those early experiences just make the decision to keep coming back super easy! Lastly, the location of this hotel is for me the best in Manhattan. I love the fine restaurants in every direction, shopping within a few blocks, and the hustle and bustle that is ever present - between the park and all the people that come for that quintessential NYC experience! For me, its a joy that repeats itself 2 to 3 times a year! Thank you to the outstanding, super hard working, lovely people that Ive had the pleasure of meeting both on this last stay - and over the past several years! See you soon!

We have now stayed at the JW Marriott 3 times on visits to New York. It really is an excellent choice in terms of facilities and location. Excellent front desk service. From the moment you walk in you feel as though you are HOME away from home. Friendly staff and a lovely welcoming lobby. A sense of elegance and opulence combined with family atmosphere. Our room faced out over Central Park in the Fall - and it does not get much better than that. Bed was extremely comfortable and bathroom had all the amenities one would expect with lovely choice of decor. The event we attended was well catered, service was 1st class and all that one would ask for at a major celebration. The hotel is across from Central Park which in the fall is a lovely walk. And we were able to walk comfortably to a show at the Lincoln Center.

Older hotel with need of updates (although the rooms are reasonably updated). Their Essex rooms are extremely small although not uncommon in NYC. Don’t expect an upgrade with status or even a preferential room - it’s an after thought for them. Great location though - right across from central park and near public transport. Staff and service is pretty good. Value for money is okay for New York assuming you can get a decent corporate rate. I would rate stay as a 3.5.

Bathroom was clean and great shower pressure, only wish the shower heads were wider. The breakfast was delectable hot and fresh. All of the staff were awesome! I have stayed in many hotels throughout New York and by far this is my favorite place to stay when visiting the city. I recently brought my nephew for his first visit to New York. The staff made him feel very special about his first trip. The Central Park view room I reserved was spacious and larger than the standard rooms. The location of the hotel is fantastic and very easy to get to many key areas of the city. The hotel emailed me prior to my arrival to notify me of the Women’s March taking place and the alternative routes to the hotel. That came in handy when planning our arrival. The room service staff was very helpful and attentive to my nephew’s food allergy (peanut and egg) The woman taking our order ran everything by the chef who let me know his food would be made in separate cookware. I appreciated the attention to detail and additional steps taken to make sure his food was prepared with very low risk of cross contamination. The service, attention to detail and comfort of the rooms is why I continue to stay at this location. Thanks again for another wonderful stay!

Really enjoyed our stay at Essex House - overall a very good experience. Front desk and concierge folks were extremely helpful. Housekeeping was great. Food was great. Restaurant service was great. Wish our room had a coffee maker for early risers and a fridge (other than the mini-bar) for items needing refrigeration. If you want coffee before 6:30 weekdays or 7:00 weekends you are out of luck.A great hotel with a great location.

The experience at JW Marriott Essex House New York has been a pleasant surprise. I did not expect superb friendly check in service as this is not usual American style but JW’s Melvin has been so helpful and friendly that I must approve him. Having booked two rooms for myself and my son, we were both very happy with the comfort in the rooms. This was an important occasion for I went all the way to New York for my beloved son’s birthday and we both enjoyed it so much.

My wife and I stayed at the Essex House for 2 nights recently. We were overly impressed by friendliness & attention of all the staff members. They were always available when we needed them, however not overbearing. We also enjoyed our access to the Executive Lounge which offered the perfect assortment of breakfast items, beverages, and snacks for our stay. Our room was the icing on the cake, great views of Central Park and the surrounding area, an extremely comfortable bed (my wife I and are still taking about how great of sleep we got), and all the in room amenities we needed. All in all, we were both thoroughly impressed with the Essex House, the accommodations and the staff. We look forward to our next stay.

Spent my Birthday weekend at the Essex. Booked 3 rooms, all with the same amount of points. Everything from the mattress to the hotel bar were unbelievable. Very luxurious! I would definitely stay here again. My only suggestion for the hotel would be to have coffee available to guests that wake early. Since there is none in the room, having to wait for the hotel restaurant to open was disappointing. Also, myself and my husband were the only guests allowed to eat for free since we were the MB members even tho I spent the same on all 3 rooms. At least 2 other guests per room should also get the benefit. Nonetheless, the hotel and the staff were amazing!
