Came for the candy shop. I drive past it often but decided to stop it today and I’m glad I did. This idiosyncratic candy shop has been around for decades. Ronnie, the owner of the auto repair and candy shop, gave me a brief introduction of their history.It was initially a gas station owned by his in-laws, until they renovated the office into a general store. It was the only one that offered food and drink, as well as a grand collection of smokes. When gas stations in the area began following suit, his wife Eileen decided to convert the store into a “nostalgic candy shop”. But don’t worry- all the candy and chocolate bars are reproductions from their respective manufacturers. Eventually they took out the gas station for extra parking space. The candy shop also stocks nostalgic toys and colorforms, lunch boxes and collectibles, but the most interesting things were a popcorn machine and a refrigerated Coca-Cola unit the couple had restored; they’re in working condition too, not just for display!I never knew the animals on Animal Crackers packaging used to be behind bars. Or that a Skybar, which was Ronnie’s favorite growing up, had 4 flavors within 1 bar.If you’ve got a car to service, they do everything except for body work. They’re very transparent about prices and waits won’t feel long with this candy shop next door. Don’t drive by like I did for months, come check it out!

Bob Howards is a mom and pop and they are truly good people. Well run. The prices can be a bit higher than some locals but the service is worth the money. The nostalgic store is pretty cool.

This place is amazing. Ive passed by so many times and finally went in today. They have so many old games and candy. You will feel like youve been taken back in time when you enter. The owner was very nice and hospitable. Definitely check this place out!

A true gem on the island! my father and i found this spot looking for black jack gum for my mother. we found it! and will be going back for more old school candy! the owner was super sweet - since it was our first time he gave us an old school paddle ball game (one for me one for my father and one for my mother) and then also gave us popcorn! i will be letting my friends know about this cool hidden candy store. the coolest part was popeye with spinach out front!

Ive never been to a more honest mechanic shop in my life. Meet with Ronnie, and he treated me like family. Really great guy, took the time to break down the pricing for me, helped with my car situation the same day (minor issue) and gave me a popcorn bag and candy at the end. The candy shop is an awesome treat too. If any one ever needs a better recommendation, look no further than these guys right here.

The Store is like a trip back in time, and if youre in the area, it is surely worth taking a look. Remember those simple Rubber Band Powered Planes kits made of Balsam wood, Plastic Car Model Car and Airplane Kits, or those Gumby & Pokey, and many other flexible figures? These are a very small example, there are Puzzles and simple inexpensive toys and crafts that every kid should see, so they know what we had when we were young, in a much simpler time. I find it amazing that they can even find these items, let alone keep their store full of them. Candies and Gum Drops from years ago, but all fresh in their bins. It is really an experience to remember. Oh, there is an Auto Repair Shop with Qualified Mechanics, and a very, very long history of satisfied customers too, so give Ronnie a call if you need some work done. They do NY State Inspections, as well as most Auto Repairs. A Really Nice Place to visit. Youll be Glad you did!

We need a local guy for car repairs so we tried these guys out. So far they have worked on four of our cars and all is good. Prices seem ok and since most places are in the same ballpark, the personality counts; this place has personality.Definitely worth the visit if passing through and craving some candy.Nice place, nice guys.

At Bobb Howards your car will always be left with a candy and a card that says Our mechanics are high tech, but our service is old- fashioned. I cant think of a better description of Bobb Howards. I have a lot of trust in the service Bobb Howards puts into my car, and their service explanation is always clear, and Ive always been satisfied with their service. Bobb Howards is in a whole different league from the dealership mechanic shops, which were never prepared and just treated me like a number.In addition to the great car service shop they run, Bobb Howards also operates a general store with candy, toys and American memorabilia from the 50s and 60s. Finally Bobb Howards is a fixture of the New Hyde Park community as they frequently host events for the neighborhood. I cant praise this place enough.

You get what you pay for, Ronnie took the time to explain before any work was done what the car needed including the price for parts and labor. After the work was completed the pricing and labor was gone through again. Excellent service very transparent I would highly recommend their services as there is no guessing game as to whether your being taken for a ride.

I love this place, I found adorable things from the past. I bought several things for my grandchildren. Baseball cards, from the year my daughter was born, merengue buttons, malt balls, and poky and gumby.

I came here a while back and asked them if they sell dices that you hang from the rear view mirror and some how the lady that was working there got it confused and thought I asked for a air freshener and then with a attitude she said we are not a stationary. Then I told her I said dices and then she said oh we dont have any right now. Very rude lady. Plus the mechanic shop is a RIP off

I have been going to the same auto repair shop for 30 years, after 30 years they closed up and now it was time to find a new repair shop I ended up calling and e mailing about 20 repair shops ,I ended up pickingBobb Howards service center in New Hyde park, NY. I went on July 13, 2017 and arrived there at 7:30am at which time I met Ronnie the owner and told him what my Mercury 2007 Grand Marquis with only 20,000 needed. I wanted a lot of work done because after the car being 10 years old I did not want my wife to have any problems going to work, Ronnie understood what I wanted and was very professional about it and then he introduced me to the mechanic that was going to do the work on my car and his name was Abdul .The first thing Abdul did was cover the drivers seat wirh plastic and put a paper floor mat down WOW I have never seen that before. The work that Abdul did was perfect I have never seen a mechanic like him, very professional and very neat.
