As a woman, Im usually hesitant to go to auto shops because they are notorious for pressuring women to get unnecessary work done. I really appreciate East Rock Auto because that is very much not the case. They are very clear and precise about the issues they see with your car, including how urgent (or not) those issues are--so you can make informed choices about what parts and services to spend money on. On top of that, theyre thorough, quick, and good at communicating information.

From the first call to the pick-up they were incredibly personable and helpful. Their system for reporting their findings is incredibly detailed and comprehensive. I ended up needing my entire fuel pump replaced and they did it so quickly that I ended up needing to keep it there overnight anyways because I assumed that between diagnosis and work theyd need way more time. Overall a great experience and will definitely be back for more necessary work.

I just plain trust these guys. They are honest, decent, friendly and do great work for reasonable prices. As a woman walking into an auto repair shop I am always concerned about the ‘pink tax’ (getting ripped off by men in the trades because I’m a woman). That doesn’t happen here. They treat me like family. I really appreciate them and wouldn’t go anywhere else.

East Rock has worked on our cars for almost 20 years. They have done everything from regular maintenance to brakes, spark plug & coil replacement, AC system repair, replaced the starter, etc, etc. We always know what to expect-theyll get us in on time (and in urgent situations theyve gone above and beyond make time for us), diagnose the problem quickly (or give us a thorough report when we asked for a safety inspection), prioritize what needs to be done for safety reasons, what should be done soon to prevent future trouble, and what can be deferred. Theyve done many repairs for us over the years and have always solved the issue. They are straightforward, and their time and cost estimates are reliable; really we have found them through the years to be everything one would think shop should be.

Despite having had my 2009 Accord inspected by the Honda dealership and another garage, no one ever was able to figure out what was causing the loud noise and rattle that occurred every time the car went over a bump. I had used them for oil changes in the past, and it was fine. But I recently went there for an electrical repair and had a bad experience. They badly misdiagnosed the problem and attempted to charge me 900 dollars to replace a speedometer cluster that didnt need to be replaced. Knowing that that price was absurd, I went to another mechanic for a second opinion and they diagnosed the problem immediately and fixed it within a few hours for a third of the price. It seemed like a classic example of a mechanic attempting to squeeze a customer, which is unfortunate.

East Rock Auto has been my go-to mechanic for my last two cars. The staff there are super friendly, professional and knowledgeable. Mike has done an excellent job every time on any services from a locked hood to a simple oil change. Also, theyve implemented a new online system of approving suggested maintenance where you can view the price, description of the service, and other details so everything can be done from your cell rather than having to speak about it over the phone or in person. I have really enjoyed working with East Rock Auto over the past 1-2 years for my routine car maintenance and repairs. They are honest, trustworthy, and transparent - offer great/competitive prices - and have never tried to upsell me or recommend work that didnt actually need to be done. Brought my car in to get one issue fixed (which ended up being much cheaper than I expected) but they found some other issues. Their new invoicing software was REALLY easy to use and helpful when deciding which of the issues I wanted them to address. Now my car drives better than when I first bought it, VERY happy with the service and Ill definitely continue to use them for any future issues!

Been to a bunch of repair shops over the state and this one was the best in my opinion. The other reviews that people mention where they care more about customers than profit is definitely true because they really do. They ran a check on my vehicle and no problems came up, compared to going to a dealership that wanted to charge me nearly $3k for a problem that was not there. I would recommend this place to other people if they were looking for a good and honest repair or service. They even gave me recommendations and didnt pressure me into buying something that would not be of benefit to my car. 10/10 for sure.

Called to get pricing on something I wanted done to my Tahoe, rude Lady answered phone saying several times she didn’t understand me... I was born and reared in America, so I asks does she not understand English, she understood that and nothing else I said obviously! They lost my business. When I asked her to put someone else on phone she said no one was available, an employee just cost you money.

I drive a 38k sports car. I am so strict on who I let work on my car, and I would always bring it to the Nissan dealership. Yes the dealership is pricey, but the work was guaranteed with a 2 year warranty on all work or 24k miles (whichever came 1st). Fast forward some time, and I had more car issues, and I was asking around because I did not want to pay dealer prices, but also did not just want someone working on my car that I couldnt trust. I was referred to Paul because of a friend, and I must say it was the best decision that Ive ever made. Not only is East Rock Autos work amazing, Leanne is the best. Shes so nice and helpful. Not only are the prices affordable, the work they do at East Rock Auto is just as good as the dealership and the work is guaranteed. 2 year or 24k on all work that was done. It does not get better than that. Ive been to East Rock Auto twice (all different issues) because my car is 10 years old, so its around the time that things are going to break down, and Ive been nothing but amazed at the job well done. I was about to leave on a long drive so I wanted to make sure my car was good to go. Spent $1000+ at East Rock Auto to get it ready for the trip.I was worried my trailer hitch was installed incorrectly (I had it installed at U-Haul after East Rock Auto recommenced that I go there instead of having them do it). I had East Rock look at it, they said “no don’t worry it’s all good, but hey, while you’re here want to spend $800 replacing your rusty exhaust?” I was like “No, I have no more money I already gave you all of it.”The hitch was literally falling off my car as I was pulling a trailer across the country three days later. I noticed, and was able to have it fixed by a proper mechanic, but like come on man, I asked you specifically to make sure the hitch was ok...

The folks at East Rock are obviously in for the long haul when it comes to building trusted relations. Over the years Mike and Paul have gone well out of their way to save me money on Repairs, advising me of what’s needed and what can wait. I drive 30 mins to then because I trust no one else.

Brought my Subaru in for the first time first week in October. Everything underneath and the body of the car is rusting and its only like 7 years old. East Rock Auto gets a good review, Subaru doesnt. They replaced some lines to my power steering they had to buy from the Subaru dealer and I was on my way the following day. The bill was fair - in fact a bit less than the estimate. Staff was professional, but human, just everything went well. I would recommend East Rock Auto to anyone from my experience! I will return for basic service and repairs.

The mechanic Mike I met from here was skilled, honest and professional. He fixed my car and Im very grateful to him for that.Unfortunately, the stress of breaking down right before a holiday weekend was significantly amplified by the older female phone clerk they have, which is why Im rating them 3 stars. She was NOT professional and ignored my calls to find out if my car was ready, pretending to be clueless that Id made four attempts at contacting East Rock Auto throughout the day when she finally called me in the late afternoon. She was rude to my face and acted like it was my fault the mechanic replaced the part in my car wrong – my fault because I didnt pay to get an inspection (why would I, when I already knew what was broken). I had to leave and come back during the rush hour part of the afternoon because at first, when I came to pick it up, they told me something else was wrong with the car and they couldnt get to it until the next day. But then the mechanic called and said everything had been sorted out and nothing else was broken some 20 minutes later, just when my ride was dropping me off. Right on back to the shop we went.If your job is to answer phones and make appointments/customer service, please put some effort into it. The customer may not always be right, but you better treat them like they are and hold your establishment accountable if you want their business. The womans attitude towards me was unnecessary, and the delay in my day-to-day life was uncalled for. Will not be returning here unless the warrantied part I got breaks.

East Rock Auto is awesome. Ive had to get quite a bit of work done on my car over the last two years and they have always been extremely upfront about everything that needs to be done, and the urgency of each issue. You never have to worry about being pressured into getting any repairs you dont need. I can usually get my car in the next day, and theyll have all the work done within a day or two at the most. A great business that I would recommend to anyone.

Went in to East Rock to have oil changed and for annual auto check-up. Was told that car needed over $2000 worth of work done immediately, including (but not limited to) 3 new tires, new brakes, and new battery. Called a dealer and was quoted same tires for over $200 less. Went to dealer who examined car and said only needed new brakes installed at a price of $343 as compared to East Rocks brake quote of $465 and that nothing else needed to be done. People at East Rock seem nice but its a total rip off.

Its been a year and a half since I first reviewed East Rock Auto on Yelp, giving them five stars. Since then Ive had multiple oil changes and a number of other repairs given the cars age, and also gotten married and had them do work on my wifes car too - and my review remains five stars. Just today, I took my minivan in for what would have been a $300 repair. Paul, the owner and head mechanic, said it was optional and recommended I not do it since the car is so old! Good advice, but when does a mechanic ever suggest you NOT give them money?In my first review, I wrote that I hadnt met the mechanic, just the customer service person (Lianne is always professional and friendly), but since then Ive met Paul several times, taking advantage of his free shuttle service in the morning and evenings. I enjoy talking to him on a personal level, and on a professional level, he always levels with me. I definitely recommend his services and am happy I found him.

I now own my third vehicle ever. I took my second car and now my van to East Rock Auto. I have been a customer since 2002. I have only received courteous, timely, fair service from Paul and his employees. I recommend East Rock Auto to everyone. On my phone, I could see exactly what he found, with photos and descriptions. The prompt on my phone asks me to approve or decline the work. I think this is a terrific update, speeding up when my vehicle will be done and offering transparency about any repairs. Im very impressed.

Consistently excellent service. Ive been a customer for more than 20 years. Paul Tremblay is one of the most trustworthy, capable, reliable human beings I know. He goes out of his way to deliver cost-effective repairs, and he backs them up 100% if anything goes wrong. I count on him to give honest and helpful advice about what I need to fix for safety, and whats optional. Brought my ancient Honda Odyssey in last month to have the timing belt and water pump replaced; he worked with my schedule, got the job done beautifully, and billed me LESS than the original estimate.

I have had my car there a few times and have had them inspect a couple of cars before I bought (or not bought) them. Each time they did a complete inspection appropriate to the presenting issue, gave me pretty extensive feedback that we discussed (what needed to be done now, might I do it myself, special tools, training to do a job etc) and then settled on a course of action. They have always done the job they were hired to do well, completely and offered good advice about what i should be looking at next. I do a lot of my own work and know a lot more than average about cars and they are always good to work with. I have never been surprised by some huge unexpected gotcha.

From the moment you pull up to East Rock Auto Repair. You cant help to notice how clean and spotless the place looks. You are greated with courtesy and the work is explained to you in detail. When they text you to go over the vehicle diagnostic, you receive a link to a sight that explains in detail and with photos what will be done to your vehicle. They also went as far as searching for other potential issues asbwell as back it up with photos. I truly recommend them. If i could give them a six i would.

These guys are great, Ive brought my car in twice and left feeling really good about the service that I was provided. Once was for a squeaky belt, and once was for an oil change. The SKF guys are super transparent, they called me before doing anything and gave me exact estimates on cost and time which I really appreciated. I felt like I know what was going on with my car and I could really trust them.

Tried to get my car’s rear break pads replaced. Without even looking at my vehicle rotors I was told they had to be replaced also due to safety hazards. Also, they would not install the parts I purchased from other place.

I dont like the feeling that I got scammed. Thats how I feel now. I do not think that the money I paid to ERAR is equivalent to the work completed. I was in a bind and needed some work done quickly, which did happen. Their timeliness was excellent. However I didnt shop around, now after the fact, I have. I was under the impression that the initial labor would be reimbursed in the actual work. It wasnt. And looking online the maximum costs I could find for the service done was $800, (calling my local service place as well, they said $375), I was charged $850. I wont be returning Im sorry to say. I think my naiveté with cars was taken advantage of.

My experience with East Rock Auto has been great. Starting back in 2005 I started having my service vans worked on there. They are always nice, friendly, and they communicate with you on the needs of your vehicle.

+++My radiator hose separated and I needed to choose a garage to be towed to by AAA. Out of the blue I opted for East Rock Auto over Firestone.It was an excellent choice, from the moment Paul answered the phone I felt reassured. Paul replaced my hose assembly, purged the system test drove the car and determined something was not right. He researched the problem on line, diagnosed it, and corrected it. I had to insist he charge me for the extra time and antifreeze he put into my car. I had a rare feeling of confidence after a stranger worked on my car as I got back on Rt.95 for my 45 minute drive home.Paul owns and runs a true service station a rarity in our neighborhoods today. I am grateful and blessed that I was brought to his door.I suggest you not hesitate to try him.

I work in Greenwich and am never around during their business hours. I used the overnight dropoff/pick up service and could not have been more pleased.They were not pushy for extra work/services and they were very reasonably priced for the work I wanted/needed done.I would wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone.

They just removed my muffler heat shield today, suggested they either jury-rig it or buy a new one. They quoted me $50 to rig it back up or $150 to install a new one, but didnt charge me dime one to put the car in the lift and simply remove the heat shield. I didnt end up rigging it back up or buying a new one, and I walked out with a $0 bill. Im quite impressed with that kind of integrity.
