We used Davey a few years back and experienced excellent service, so we were very disappointed when our most recent experience was completely ridiculous. We have several trees that needed some trimming. After multiple calls, we finally got someone out to look at the tree(s). Then almost a month went by before we were able to finally beg someone to put us on the schedule. Then, when they finally arrived to work on the tree, the crew didnt have the equipment necessary for the job. They said they would be back in a few days, and they just literally never showed back up. We have obviously gone with another company, but to say we are disappointed is an understatement.

Prompt service, difficult tree to remove

We had Brian stop by to provide a quote. That was July 6. I pointed out the trees we needed removed. COVID was quite prevalent at that time so he said “I’ll be out here doing my thing and I’ll email the quote later this afternoon”. I went back in the house and that was the last time I’ve heard from anyone. He never even knocked on the door to let us know he was done and leaving. Here we are over a month later and still haven’t heard back from anyone. We ended up having the trees removed by Family Tree who did a fantastic job and the price was extremely fair.

Davey Tree did a wonderful job taking down two trees and grinding the stumps on our property. They were very professional and we are so happy with the results! Highly recommend!

To say the least we have been incredibly amazed at the level of professionalism and efficiency of Davey Tree Surgeons! Unfortunately we had a huge tree hit our house yesterday after a huge storm came through. We called Davey this morning and they got here the same day. Their crew was very mannerly and knowledgeable. They answered our questions in a most professional way. They cleaned up extremely well down to the last leaf, believe or not. After 7 hours here on the job they were still eager to make sure we were happy! What can you say...we are impressed! And my wife and I rarely, very rarely, post reviews on anything! Davey Tree was very responsive when we had a tree fall on our house after a storm. They did such great work for us, that we are using them to trim the deadwood off our trees, and remove a handful of others that are not safe near our home. They actually care about saving the remaining trees in our yard, giving us insight and recommendations on how to keep our mature trees looking beautiful and thriving. They are always polite and have given us extremely fair estimates on the work we want completed. I highly recommend them!

I have been a Davey client for many, many years. The first time I had Davey perform work, it was just for a small tree removal. Over the years I have let them take over more and more of my landscaping/lawn needs. Today, they take care of everything outside my house, with the exception of mowing my lawn, removing leaves in fall and spreading mulch. I have fallen in love with their dependable service, EXTREMELY knowledgeable sales reps and crew. I have had a lot of tree companies do work for me, and none of the crews compare to the expertise and experience of a Davey Tree crew. The couple of times I had small issues with my service or billing, they were quick to resolve the issues. They even held my bill until I was completely satisfied! Not many other companies would do that for you! I would recommend this company to anyone needing tree, landscaping and/or lawn work done. Theyre sales staff is top notch in customer relations and expertise and their crews leave your property as if they were never there...spotless!! I will ALWAYS be a Davey client! Sales Arborist, Joshua Stephens did a great job of identifying spider mites on our Magnolia tree and arranged to have the tree treated and fertilized by one of Davey Trees technicians. Davey Tree also treated two other trees for Aphids. I am very pleased with the service and highly recommend Davey Tree for tree treatment.

Rob Kraker came out and looked at 2 trees of mine that I thought were dying. He was prompt and the most knowledgable arborist Ive ever met. He quickly diagnosed the problems and set me on a path (which involved nothing for one of the trees). He also gave me a few pointers about unrelated things (grasses) as well. Will happily do business with Davey again.

Joshua Stephens and his crew did an excellent job of advising me on a troublesome tree on my property. They were able to remove the tree affordably, without causing damage to any property, and they did an excellent job in cleaning up after themselves, almost as if they were never even there! I would highly recommend Davey Tree to anyone looking for skilled and courteous workers.

As Nashville transplants from the North, we were stumped by an unfamiliar problem with our new Spruce tree. We called Davey and they sent arborist Joshua Stephens to the rescue! Joshua diagnosed our problem and recommended a course of action. We followed it and today I can report that our tree looks like its on the road to recovery. Yesterday I flew my quadcopter drone into a tree. Sixty to seventy feet up how could I rescue it? Climb the tree? Not at my age. Who can I get help from? A tree service business! Google search found many so I started calling. Either no answer and no call backs until I called Davey Tree Service. The entire staff was very helpful and transferred my call to the manager. I explained my situation to him and he said he had a crew close by and when they completed the job they were on they would call me. A young man called and said he was on his way. When he arrived he looked at the situation, set up his gear and went up and rescued my drone.Even though it wasnt their line of service they helped me in a very professional and timely manner. You better believe me that when I need an expert tree service I will call Davey Tree Service because of the professional service they gave me. I can guarantee their tree service will be the best available.Thanks a million Davey Tree Service. Your the BEST!!!!!!!!!!!

I signed a contract on 5/31/17 for some work to be done on my property. I called 7/20/17 and 8/3/17 and 8/14/17 and was told each time by the receptionist that I would get a return call from Scot Johnson. I never got a return call. I called today, 8/21/17, not even a receptionist, just a tape recording.Update as of 9/14/17: I received a call on 8/23, likely due to my earlier complaint (above, ~ 8/22) that let me know I would have service on 8/29. I did get work done on 8/29, the team was fast, courteous, and efficient.

One of the most important aspects of the home we purchased several years ago when relocating from CA was the landscaping of our property. We have a large number and variety of trees and shrubs. As new residents of Middle TN we were unfamiliar with the particulars of the local climate and impact on the natural elements of our landscaping. When we noticed that some of our maple trees were experiencing distress that was affecting leaves we were referred to Rob Kraker of Davey Tree Expert Co. Rob came out and diagnosed the problem which turned out to be a mold issue from excess irrigation combined with summer humidity. We corrected the issue and also hired Davey Tree to fertilize all of our trees. The result is that the trees are thriving and look magnificent! Rob has been out to follow up and check on health of trees and has been especially generous with his time and knowledge. Rob genuinely loves the work that he does. His passion and caring for the health and wellbeing of our gardens is inspiring! I highly recommend Rob and Davey Tree Expert Co.

I called to get a quote after 6 calls to the sales guy and office, NO ONE will return my call. was going to sign the contract but wanted to know about equipment as well as schedule. once again no one would return my call. I refuse to beg someone to do work for me. there is a reason that they have a 1 rating - poor customer service

Several months ago I had Joshua Stephens come to our Gallatin home from Nashville to discuss a problem we we were experiencing with probably a 100 year old tree. Joshua, was professionally dressed with a work shirt and truck identifying him with Davey. He gave me a complete diagnosis of the problem with the tree to include the specific disease impacting this tree, took notes and provided an estimate on what it would cost to remove and replace the tree. Additionally he is a ISA Certified arborist.Our renovation was delayed so the tree issue went on the back burner. Over the last week we had so called tree experts come out to provide an additional quote on what the problem was with this tree. No identification, no ID on truck, no business cards, no ideas of the disease the tree has and this guy did not take a single note.I will be reaching out to Joshua to discuss Davey taking care of our tree issue. I only wish I could give them more than a five star rating.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. Absolutely horrible service, I have never come across such an unprofessional company before. After my consultation for a tree removal, I quickly sent back my contract in order to get an appointment set up. Four weeks later I heard nothing. I called FOUR TIMES only to get the receptionist who says my specialist isnt in the office at the moment, but he will call back within the hour because he had my contract on his desk. NO CALL. It has now been a total of 9 WEEKS and I still have not been able to reach them nor have I received any calls. Meanwhile the tree that needs to be removed remains a hazard to my home as well as my neighbors home. I would give less than one star if possible.

During a recent major storm while we were on vacation in England, a large tree fell on our house and car in Nashville. There was significant damage to the roof and continuing water issues. I contacted my insurance co. and they had Davy do the work. We booked an emergency flight from London the next morning and by the time we arrived home that p.m. Davy had completed removal of the tree and all debris, and had patched the roof in all areas of damage. There was minimum interior water damage inside the house thanks to Davy. Couldnt ask for a better response from any service considering my absence and other circumstances. RC

However, all complaints on this Company are funneled through the Akron, OH BBB branch where this Company is headquartered. Thus, any review of this business on the Nashville BBB site will yield little information...An account of my experience with this Company is below:*************************************************************************Everett, a saleperson with Davey Tree Company came out to my home to price a tree removal project. I informed him that we would be installing a fence and we discussed how this would make removal of the debris more difficult for Davey Tree crew members. He agreed that it was important to do the tree work BEFORE the fence was installed, and I advised him of the date that the fence was scheduled to go in. Everitt agreed to have the tree work completed before this, and there was an adequate 2-week window of time to do so.Davey missed at least 3 different appointments on different days where I stayed home to accommodate their access to my property. Several weeks went by and the fence mentioned above was installed. Everitt stopped returning my calls about the project. He didnt want his crew to do the work now that it would take more time/money to haul the tree debris around the fence. The problem is, now this would cost ME more money because of Daveys poor planning and scheduling.Meanwhile, Davey was johnny-on-the-spot for a secondary project that was discussed in our initial meeting. In the fall, they fertilized a couple of trees in the backyard and then sent an invoice for $150. This work was done without an appointment and without my permission, and several weeks after I had chased Everitt around trying to complete the primary tree project that he had agreed to. This $150 invoice was an insult given how much of my time they had wasted in missed appointments and how much money they had just cost me - I had to get a new quote from another company and it had approximately $500 more in haul-off cost because of the fence that had been installed since the initial quote.Everitt advised me not to pay the bill for the fertilization. Apparently that message never got to the organizations bookkeeper or management. Statements arrived. I called at least 4 times speaking with secretaries, and leaving messages for management in efforts to resolve the billing dispute, and I received no return calls from business leadership. This was a tremendous time drain for any customer, and I strongly advise against using this Company because of their complete disregard of the concept that their customers time is valuable.Even though I tried on multiple occasions to resolve this with a manager, Davey Tree Company then forwards this $150 invoice to a collection company. I have similar conversations with the collections company yet no action is taken to remove the charge.Fast forward 1 year and Daveys collection company has reported this amount to the credit bureau! I now have to spend time disputing a charge, that any decent Company or manager would have overridden with a giant credit reporting company, TransUnion. This actually appeared as derogatory public record on my credit report. Thats it! Now the whole world needs to know how poor the management team for this Companys Nashville operation really is.In follow-up to this review, I have also filed a complaint with the BBB as of 8/4/16. It is now a week later, 8/11/16, and Davey has yet to respond. The resolution is still TBD, and I will append this review with an account of their response.
