I was worried that if something besides the original problem were wrong the laptop may still not work, and they assured me that I wouldnt need to worry about that. I have and old Dell Inspiron laptop I dearly love but all the updates we were experiencing finely got to it and crashed and killed the hard drive. (Murrays Fox Ridge Computers). I am not here to bash on the business but rather to warn any other potential customers/clients who may end up having a similar experience. I will not name anyone (for obvious reasons) so I will refer to the one who assisted me as X. I went Fox Ridge because my recently Custom Built PC didnt have any display and they said they could help. I sent a request through their website but didnt get a timely reply so I called them instead (first red flag). When I called I knew and told them what was wrong (my motherboard needed a BIOS Update to be compatible with my CPU) as did my research and consulted with experienced PC builders. This is fairly simple fix but I dont have the tools (a compatible CPU to complete the update) or experience. I went on Wednesday (9/3) around 1PM to take them my PC, but the person who assisted me wasnt the same as the one on the phone, it was X. So I had to explain to X the situation again but I particuarly remember stating I am 99% sure that the motherboard needs a BIOS update to be compatible with the CPU. Anyways, he seemed to dismiss what I had said and just said that we will look at it and I will call you later today with an update or something similar. I waited all day but nothing (second red flag). I figured he just got busy or something so I waited patiently the next day. Nothing the whole day, I looked my ticket on their website consistently during all of this and it said created on 3/3, last update 3/3 (third red flag). On Friday at around 11 am, I decided to call just to ask for update or an explanation on why he hadnt called me like he said would. Expecting the woman from Wednesday, I suprisingly heard X answer so I explained why I called, my concern etc. He made a bunch of different excuses (recently arrived laptop parts, blah blah). I said I understood but I was just wondering when I could have an actual update. He said I have a pc up right now, yours is next. I will call you when I get to it. I thought to myself he is probably lying (just saying something to get me off the phone), but I gave him the benefit of the doubt. They are closed on the weekend so I figured he would get to mine on that Friday, Monday, or at the latest Tuesday and I would have an update. Keep in mind that even though its quite a simple fix, I didnt expect back instantly and in fact I just wanted an update. I waited patiently all of those days (didnt contact them hastling them for an update on the situation or on my PC). Today (Wednesday, 3/10), I was frustrated with lack of communication so I called them again at around 11. Again X answered, I told who I was and asked for an update, and explaination why he hadnt called me yet. He made a bunch of excuses again (which I will not pretend to have been listening to), but he said I have yours up right now I tried all the cords and different graphic cards but still have no display. Why is he trying that when I already told him what was wrong with it? Maybe he wants to make sure I am right before he does anything about it. Again, he said he would call later today with an update, which I didnt believe but I respectfully said perfect, my goodbyes and hung up. At around 3pm, he calls me and tells me what he said before, and saying that he cant get any display, etc. I interrupted him and explained to him again that the motherboard needs a BIOS update to be compatible with my CPU so it wont show any display until its updated. He tried to argue that it should show at least the BIOS, but I told him not even the BIOS would show up until the motherboard was updated with a different compatible CPU. Again sort of dismissive of what I was arguing, he stated that they didnt have any compatible CPU just laying around but could order one put it together for me or I could pick it up. I was astonished that not only did it take a week for him to even tell anything about my PC but he told what I told him the first day. Why tell me you can do it for me if you couldnt the whole time? Waste of time!

Good, high quality repair. My hard drive which contained all my archive files gave up the ghost. I first took it to the geek squad at Best Buy. They told me the disk was totally blank and that they couldnt touch it without an upfront payment of thousands to their data recovery shop in Lexington. Then, a friend recommended Fox Ridge in Murray. They were able to read the disk using some Linux software by the end of the day! Recovery took a couple more days because they were in the middle of relocating their shop.And they only charge $99 for recovery of a failed drive! So, compared to the Geek Squad, Fox Ridge saved me thousands of dollars and their work was quick and error free.In the future, anytime I need computer work, Fox Ridge is my go to place.Orville Cypret
