Today was the last time I was in this shop.I am not a barber so If say I want something and you do not understand clarify. I look horrible and will be doing all sort of vital life events this week. To me 1/2 is well just that.. I said you know about finger length. Instead I get a crew cut... last time.

I took my 4 year old son for a hair cut this weekend. The place was clean and inviting. The barbers were welcoming, nice and greeted us upon arrival. So no complaints in regards to that. My issue was with cut my son got. I showed a picture of a cut that I wanted for my son and also explained it to him verbally. He seems like he understood. He worked pretty quickly and was done in 15 minutes or so. When I saw the cut...it was terrible! The sides were not cleanly cut and not the same on both sides. I’ve told the barber to leave the top untouched, which he did but he didn’t even comb it to complete the cut. This is the first time in my life that I witnessed a barber not combing the hair he cut. He basically jacked up the sides, back, and left the top without combing. It was a big mess. I had to take him to another barbershop...waited 45 minutes and had them fix his hair. It was a waste of money and time! I will never go back there again!

I normally do my head and beard with Ryan at the shop. Not sure what’s going on in there lately. But today was the last time I will step foot In this business. I called earlier to set appointment. Was told they don’t do appt. was told to come on down that I could get in right away. It took me 5 mins to get there. I have an hour for lunch with my job. When I walked into the shop I was told 45 min wait. So now I have wasted my time. So again last time. I little more professionalism would do the shop great.

I have had my hair cut twice now and have had a good experience both times. I have cowlicks on the front and back of my head which makes cutting my hair a little difficult, but they were careful to make sure they did not cut them. Great service and good price

Ive been going here for a few years now and for the most part the quality has been ok. But recently I feel like the quality of the cuts have been getting worst. Once they sit you down they ask you what you want. I try to explain to them exactly what I want but its like they never listen. It usually looks good but its never really what I wanted. but I went today and I thought I explained it really well but I guess not. I told him to just make the sideburns a zero but I guess he thought shave the entire side of my head a zero. he bought the zero so high up my head that my face is now literally wider than my hair. I can honestly say this is the worst haircut I ever had. i cant keep spending $20 every 2 weeks here. I gave them to much chances and now its time to move on. Im finding a different barber.

A little disappointed with my sons haircut. My son is biracial and has thick ethnic hair with waves. He just wanted a simple fade with a little off the top. He looks like gumby because one side is way higher. We had to go elsewhere the next day to get it fixed. The staff was nice though.

This is the best barbershop in Murfreesboro, no question. Always friendly, super cool, and awesome work for a great price. I really don’t like getting my hair cut, but they made it as easy as could be. Shoutout to Elliott for a great chat and a fantastic cut!

My son got a haircut here (we have been here multiple times) and they butchered his hair. My husband asked them to fix it 3 times and the gentleman cutting my son’s hair copped an attitude. My son now has clumps of hair cut off his head with an almost bowl haircut...which was NOT what was requested . Save yourself the money and go elsewhere! Even Supercuts or Sportsclips does a better job than this!

This is my go to Barbershop most times. They usually do a great to excellent job on my haircut and facial hair cut. Alot of the barbers I liked the most have came and gone over the Years but they keep good barbers at this place.

New, comfortable barber chairs with clean, well maintained stations. They have always been great with my young son as well, since he was 2.In the end, it comes down to the haircut, and I have always been happy. Theyll straight razor the sides too. They are good, and for a good price.Elliotts my barber, hes great. The other barbers are awesome too. I cant say enough about this place.

First time coming in the morning. Got a great hair cut for 20 dollars. Got there at 9:15 had to wait about 45 minutes to get my haircut but the people who work there seem to really care and want to take the time to make your hair right. Would highly recommend over going to sports clips or a chain barber.

Great barber shop. At a reasonable price. I really liked the vibe here. Laid back and fun.I am a long time straight razor shaver. I showed up and Scott took me right back. When shaving he took the time to read the grain of my neck which I was concerned wouldnt happen. The blade was sharp and I felt zero pulling. I also liked the shave oils they used, nice consistency and good woody smell. This is now my go to barber shop moving forward. I came back and my wife commented how good it all looked (the ultimate stamp of approval as she is way more picky about my hair than I am).

Scott did an amazing job with my trim on my lower back corners as I have asked for a natural look as oppose to the clipper cut appearance with the thick course hair. He also took the time to confirm with Bethany (whom has years of experience) to ensure the correctness of his technique. You pay for what you get and well deserved in my opinion. Where else can you get a hot cream and towel treatment.I have not been in an hair cutting establishment in over 9 years as I am growing my hair out for cultural reasons and certainly happy with my experience at Nexgen Barber Shop.Thanks again Scott! :)

Friend of mine told me to go here, I wont go anywhere else. Not only does this shop have an incredible vibe along with being very clean, the barbers have amazing personalities and they all get along. Ryan is who cut my hair and beard. He is a Leonardo davinci with his clippers. He would go over an area of my hair, then go back over another 2-3 times to get it to perfection!

No matter who you get, they do a great job! Ive just about had everyone that works there cut my hair except for a couple I believe. They usually have great music playing as well.

They take walk in appointments only. Ive been using the same barber for years and they really know what they are doing here. They have a very relaxed environment. I bring my boys here to get their haircuts as well. They also do some shaves and beard trim up. They have hair wash stations but Ive never had that done. The prices are very reasonable and it is a locally owned shop. They have a lot of mens hair care products that you cant find outside of a barbershop.

This was my first Barber experience since the beginning of the COVID-19 drama. I was ready for a haircut since I had not received one for over 3-months and my barber of 10+ years was still closed for business being located in Davidson county; Toon’s Salon. Needless to say I was a little nervous to go somewhere else but my hair grows back quickly and I wanted a high-and-tight anyways so I pushed through the hesitation. I got on Google maps and searched for barber shops near me and then sought out the highest reviews with the higher review count. For me, the options were down to Nexgen and another place. I don’t recall at the moment but I think I was leaning toward Nexgen because of the pictures of the shop we’re appealing and it had that old school/modern look to it and the reviews may have nudged it even higher than the other option.I called to ensure they were even open. Glad I did, because I was told I needed to have an appointment based on their new COVID guidelines. I promptly scheduled a same day block of time. Circumstances were going to put me running almost 10-minutes late, so I called to make sure I would still be served; the woman checked with the barber who would be cutting my hair and all was fine on this occasion. I showed up 7-minutes after my scheduled time, called, and they let me right in. I was greeted by a nice gentleman who would turn out to be my barber; I wish I could have remembered his name to do him justice but I was distracted by the Zoey DeChannel looking angel, hiding behind a mask at the back of the room cutting another man’s hair. I would later find out she’s part owner of the shop and wife to who I can only presume to be a lucky man. She was a fiery one and commanded respect and transparency as one of her employees had disappeared for several minutes while one of his customers waited for a snip. By no means was she rude, only concise and straight to the point, no sugar coating the truth of the situation as she asked him to let her know where he’s going in the future to which he admitted his oversight; I wanted to applaud her style but kept my comments to myself so as not inadvertently rub salt in her employees emotional wound.Wow, let’s get this review back on track. First thing in the door I was asked to wash my hands and then I was directed to a barber chair. I was then covered with what seemed to be a clear plastic bag but was actually a clear cutting cape or hair apron. I couldn’t help but think I was about to be in an episode of Dexter and was about to meet my maker. Those thoughts were quickly subdued as I found myself sitting across from the Zoey look a like. She appeared to take her time cutting that mans hair and was meticulous in her efforts; though I could have been having a slow motion scene in my head. I digress. All the while my anxiety of this new hair cut rose a little as my snip progressed. My barber’s shears gave my hair a good tug and I winced. He asked me if they pulled, I said yes, he lubed them up and gave it another go. I was a little on edge after that because his style was a little quicker than I’m used to and than what I was watching across the way. I thought with every snap of his wrist the shears would forgo their new lubrication and get hungry for my hair again. Luckily, that didn’t happen and their appetite must have been satisfied on the first bite.Overall, and for this being my first time with this new barber... and Zoey aside... my experience with him cutting my hair and the results/look of my cut boasts of a promising new future with Nexgen. The only challenge I see is making sure I get the same person by calling in advance whereas my previous barber was the only one (wo)man-ing the shop and I was sure to get her every time. Also, if and after Nexgen reads this review I hope they’ll have me back. 5 stars and respect to Mr & Mrs Shop owner :)

Excellent atmosphere here, Ive never been dissatisfied with a cut and they are always there to help. You can trust their professional opinion when it comes to having your hair look good! You can always believe you are in good hands when you come here. Dont shy away from the women either Ive gotten a haircut from just about everyone and as I said before its always been on point!

Im here at least every 3 weeks. At $20/haircut, theyre not going to be your cheapest option in town, but the people are great and passionate about what they do. Its hard to find a good barber that you trust but there are several here that I would go to.

My husband and I have been going to this barber shop for a couple of years now and we love their work. They do great haircuts and are very nice and friendly people. The prices are also reasonable. WARNING: They do NOT do longer hair styles for the ladies, their specialty is short haircuts on men, women and children. There is nothing wrong with that at all, that is just their preference.

Very good experience. I walked in and was promptly greeted by Mike. I love that the clippers are connected by a vacuum so you dont leave with hair all over you. The price was also very good, just $15 for a basic cut. I also like that they accept credit/debit cards, so many other barbershops in the area are behind the eight ball on this one. I will definitely return.

This barber shop accepts walk in appointments only.That isnt a negative in my opinion but I wanted to get that out of the way.Scott did a great job on my cut. If you can vocalize what you are looking for and what you need you will walk out happy.Cuts start at $20 and adding a shave will obviously cost more.

Introduced to NexGen through a buddy of mine. First the atmosphere is amazing. Very rustic/geek vibe. Youll see the Delorean time machine sitting on one side and six shooters on another. Some may complain about the wait, but these guys take their time to make sure you have a good cut.

Ive been coming here to get my haircut for a long time. I always leave happy but today was the best. We took our one year old son in to get his first haircut. Everyone at the shop made it feel like a big deal( which to us this is a major thing) Words cant express how much easier the group made it for us, my girlfriend especially.

Went here to get my hair cleaned up and a beard trim. Shop is clean, staff is friendly. I dig the rockabilly vibe they got going on there. Ryan did my cut, and its one of the best Ive had in a long time. Yes, they can use straight razors (unlike a lot of barbers now adays.) And the price is fair. You wont be disappointed.

I couldnt be happier. I have gotten some bad haircuts recently and Scott cut my hair and he absolutely crushed it! Spoke with me a few minutes before even touching my hair to make sure he knew exactly what I was looking for. Atmosphere was great and it is so close off of 24 if you need to travel from outside of the Boro.I would recommend these guys to anybody! Prices are incredibly fair too.

This was my first time at next generation. I was greeted as soon as I walked in the door. Tim was the gentleman who cut my hair, I showed him. Picture of what I wanted to have done and he did exactly that. I am very satisfied with my experience, the staff, and the environment was very clean, and modern with a hint of vintage! I recommend everyone anyone who wants a grat cut go here!

Came here for the first time for my boyfriends haircut, we came here cuz our favourite hair stylist (Lara) moved here. Shes amazing and actually listens to what you want and will pause each step of the way to make sure its the style that you want. Shes also very cool to talk to and loves what she does! She also does my hair and I have never had a cut from her that I didnt love!

Was looking for a new barber for myself and my son. I went here for the 1st time today for a straight razor shave ($25) and walked out thoroughly disappointed when I got home and looked in the mirror. To see so much stubble Ive never had from a straight razor shave. She did most with an electric razor but apparently doesnt have straight razor experience. Im use to being lined up and baby bottom smooth, especially considering I dont have a tough beard to begin with. I literally couldve saved my money and done better with a BIC disposable. The only reason I gave it 2 stars was the place was very inviting. I thought I had found my new spot but sadly that is not the case. I even gave a $5 effort tip as well.

I’m a regular at Scout’s Barber Shop in Nashville, TN. I recently moved to Murfreesboro, TN and wanted to find a similar shop that was not as far of a drive. Thought Nexgen Barber Shop would be the one, but clearly I was wrong. The shop opened this morning at 9:00 and I arrived at 9:05. Was not seated until 9:40, with only two people working.The atmosphere of the shop was cool. A hipster, biker mix with the old school shop feel. Hence, two star rating.Was not asked what I wanted done to my hair as I was being seated, so I broke the awkward silence and proceeded to ask for verbatim “Could you do a 0 to 1 high fade on the side and back. Leave the length on top, but just thin it out”. Think of Brad Pitt in the movie Fury.About half an hour goes by and the barber attempting to cut my hair as he’s digging his clippers, that feel on fire from letting it run too long, into the back of my head ask for assistance from the shop owner. At this point I knew something was wrong.The shop owner, who I should’ve waited for, attempted to fix the new chia pet I had installed on top of my head. After an hour spent in the chair, the nightmare was over. Paid for the haircut and left the shop for the first and last time.

I just moved to Murfreesboro from Franklin a couple months ago. I had been getting my haircut at a salon in Cool Springs. I was told about Nexgen Barber Shop a while back and just kept it in my memory back. I got to where I really needed a haircut and didnt want to go back to Franklin. I recalled Nexgen, stopped by and they took me right in. Cat, the stylist, looked at a couple photos I had and went to work. She really did an awesome job! It was 1/2 the $$ I was paying, too! No doubt this will be my new haircut spot! 5 🌟

Absolutely best barbers and prices. Ive had my hair cut by Tim(the owner) for well over a decade and I get compliments pretty regularly on my style. Bethany is the queen of color. If you want to do something fun, including dying your beard, shes your girl.

Ive been here three time and had a different barber each time. All three cuts were pretty good, but the last one was great! Prices are average, but the cuts are top notch. There are other great places to get a cut, but not at these prices.

They do not do reservations and I have had my hair cut by a few people there but Bethany is the best by FAR. Wait for her to be available if you can. Young blonde guy is rough with the clippers.

I will never go here, basically because 1 of the barbers are very rude to other guys just doing their job. Tim, to be exact. Very rude guy. Going into a bussiness and expecting to get special treatment, and cussing everyone out when he doesnt get his way.

Received the same haircut I got at a different barbershop, but this place was insistent on getting me out the door as fast as possible. Asking for a part and taper, and receiving a semi-completed job is not what I expected from a place with such glowing reviews. My neckline wasnt tapered, my hair line wasnt touched up with a straight razor, and not once was I asked for any specification other than what size clippers I wanted used. I would not recommend this place, and the next time my SO and I require a cut, well just go to a real barbershop, not a hipster hairstylist.

I like my hair cut a certain way, and most cannot achieve this style. However, there is only one person in here that cuts it perfect. Others are great barbers, but not as OCD as I am. Therefore, I would ALWAYS wait for this one person to cut my hair. She is the owner... The last two times I went in there I passed on opportunities to have my hair cut with other stellar barbers. (Because I like her OCD...) However, when the time came for her chair to be empty, she informed the other barbers that she was going to run errands. I was completely baffled! Not once, but twice this happened. To have an owner who cares more about her personal errands, she does not need my money. Great haircuts, but 3 stars to the owners customer service. Very disappointing!Update: store closes at 6pm, and I arrived at 5:40pm. I was not allowed in, and ignored. They have lost this customer forever. They absolutely do not care about their customers. I drove out of my way to get a haircut only to be ignored. RIDICULOUS! Three strikes and you are out.
