Took my Honda Accord to Vladimir right when he first opened back when he had an ad in the Palo Alto times, this was around 2003. My Check engine light came on and I took it in for a diagnostic. I came back later and told me the computer chip went out. But don’t worry he said I called Honda and it’s a recall item and they will replace it for free. I asked him how much do I owe you, just the diagnostic he told me. I appreciate his honesty and integrity. He could ripped me off, but he didn’t. Since then I’ve always taken my cars to him and Michael. He works on my Tundra and Acura and they run solid. He even scolded my wife because she had bald tires. I’ll take my cars to them as long as they are open.

Hey, if your car is making a weird noise, go to Independence Car Service. They will diagnose it and will let you know if it is ok to drive with it or not. When not sure the are not sure they are the best for the job, they will refer you to someone else. Good honest service at a great price! You will never regret going there. They were our first stop for any car troubles for at least 20 years.

Very honest mechanic, they always try to find the solution that works and make sense economically. We brought our Toyota Matrix and VW Jetta to this shop.

What a great find. First time with them and I’m very happy with the results. (Changed timing belt and related parts). When the clutch needs replacing or any of my other cars needs attention, I’m bringing it here.

I took my Honda here for 7 years. I was so lucky to have found this shop. They are honest and good mechanics who took care of my car periodically without fail. One time, Vladimir scolded me because my tires were in pretty bad shape. He basically said: young lady, you better get these tires replaced right now! They didnt do tires there and he didnt try to point me to any tire shop so I knew he was genuinely concerned for my safety. They were like a good neighborhood mechanic in the old days that you can trust. Too bad now Im in a different state and need to look for a new place to take my car. Im suddenly realizing how good I had it. *sigh*

Best mechanics there are. Have been their customer for 16 years and they have never wronged me once. Had to tow a car to them few times over the weekend when it broke and they were able to get it back to me few hours after the parts have been delivered to them.

Weve been taking our Subaru and Acura to Vladimir for ages. Great service thats thoughtful, fairly-priced, and totally trustworthy. They came up with a creative solution for our Integras exhaust system when factory parts were no longer available, fixed wheel bearings and door locks on the Subaru ,as well as performing routine maintenance on both. We will continue taking our cars there.

Michael took care of the oil change on my Honda Accord. He is honest, straightforward with what to expect with regards to expenses and gave me a his assessment of the cars status and what needs to be done. I find their price reasonable and their service is efficient. Im taking my vehicles there from now on.

These guys are amazing!!I have a dread of mechanics and car problems that is out of line with the actual experience (its just so stressful when you have no idea what is wrong, how bad it is, and, just as importantly, whether or not you can trust what you are being told.)Having bought a used car that was not-so-nicely-maintained, Ive had to get over that fear, fast. Luckily, with Independence Auto, that hasnt been a problem. The quality of work, reliability, and trustworthiness has been off the charts. My car anxiety is no more!As an example, when fixing the brakes and noticing that the car was a little rough-around-the-edges, Vladimir summed up what the key components were that I should worry about. After not knowing if they had been replaced when the car hit 100,000 miles, I asked him to do the work just to be on the safe side. He actually turned me away! Telling me he would prefer confirmation that service was not done as it would be expensive to replace parts (to the tune of $700) unnecessarily.How great is that? After I received confirmation the work had not been done, I dropped my car off the next day and his team gave me a ride to work. My car was ready to go the next morning.Not only did they stick to the estimate each time, they went above and beyond by replacing a tail-light for me (I had already ordered the part on eBay) as a bonus! This wasnt any taillight replacement, mind you - they had to take the bumper off to replace it due to the way the taillight was secured. And they still left this as a bonus - free of charge!Having to weigh the pros and cons of putting new money in to a used car, based on the multiple conversations Ive had with him already, I know I can 100% trust Vladimirs opinion.Following the amazing service Ive received, theyre never getting rid of me!

Serviced my Honda Insight here several times (oil change, suspension, tail lights). Never tried to rip me off, gave good advice on how to reduce my maintenance expenses (even if it meant going to dealership), charged me several times less than what the dealer quoted to replace my taillights. As long as Im driving Japanese Im taking it here for service!

All the reviews were true. Excellent service and professional job. I called around other shops to get my Sicon tC serviced and Independence had a god price and good reviews on Yelp. I’ve been coming here since 2000 with two different Acuras. Vladimir is the most honest mechanic you’ll find. He never tries to upsell you anything. He’ll say things like “your brake pads are getting a little low, but you probably have about 10,000 miles left on them” or “your tires need to be replaced, but you can take care of that yourself”. They do my regular maintenance, changed a timing belt, and replaced a clutch among other things. On the clutch job, Vladimir told me to come by and see the transmission he took out because he wanted to point out some things to me. I mean who does that?! If there’s one downside, it’s that he’s too popular. Over the years word got out about Vladimir’s reputation and now it seems everybody is going to him.
