Not only does Master Akil know his stuff, he could not be more welcoming and good with kids, including teenagers. Really gives them a sense of self worth and belonging. My daughter’s only been going for a few months, but it’s already made a big difference in her life. We found Cho’s by chance after seeing the sign (convenient location), but I could not recommend it more highly.

This place is a class act. The energy, structure and encouragement provided by Master Acevedo and Mary Rose is excellent. While the classes provide great instruction in Tae Kwon Do more than that this is one of the very few kids activities that I’ve seen that focuses on life skills for kids. While the kids may think they are learning about punches, kicks and blocks, the lessons really are centered on improving their confidence, self control, focus, etc. Can’t recommend enough.

We love Cho’s Legacy TKD. Our son has been a student at Cho’s for a year and a half. He has made such great progress in the areas of respect, focus, and has learned that he needs to practice to improve. This martial art school is very clean and safe. There are virtual, in Dojang socially distant and outdoor options. It has been a great distraction during these trying times. Master Acevedo is absolutely amazing with the kids and gives each one the attention they deserve. I could not give this place a higher recommendation. It is definitely worth the time and investment.I would like to directly respond to one of the older comments below. We are in no way required to make a review as part of a belt promotion. Our son has been at Chos for just over a year. Hes really made progress in his coordination and focus, and we couldnt be happier. The school has been a great outlet during the pandemic, and is one of the few places we feel comfortable going to during these times.

My 7 year old son has been taking Tae Kwon Do at Chos for about 3 months, and he absolutely loves it. We tried other sports, but he didnt handle it well. This is the first time he enjoys what he is doing, and he looks forward to going there. Master Acevedo is excellent at managing kids, especially ones who cant stop moving and are not the most disciplined (like mine). I highly recommend Chos for any child.

We absolutely love Cho’s legacy. My son has been a student there for over a year and a half and he loves it and has learned so much! Master Acevedo has done a phenomenal job with being so Covid aware that we have been back in the dojo since July without a second thought!! Cho’s Legacy is an extremely well-run business and Master Acevedo has a special gift for knowing what each child needs to get out their participation in Tae Kwon Do class. We enrolled our 5 year old son almost a year ago now and it has proven to be a great decision. From the very fist day, Master Acevedo and his staff have gone out of their way to make our son feel special, comfortable, and empowered. He continually has a smile on his face and is amazingly patient with all his students.Master Acevedo instills life skills such as optimism, perseverance, and strong character building. Chos Legacy has been a great asset to our sons metal and discipline growth. Master Acevedos teaching techniques and interaction with each student represents the level of passion and respect he has for this art and that same passion and respect he passes down to his students. Which in our case, our son is benefiting from on hes day to day life. Our son really likes to attend the class and looks forward to his practice time with his friends that I am sure will be his friends for life. Master Acevedo is awesome! He really gets kids. He has created an environment that enables students to do their best, and really try to learn the skills. He fosters learning that is not just about the technique of marshal arts but also about fundamental aspect of living a good life - discipline, honor, integrity, friendship, family. He is very aware if a child has any special needs, and makes necessary accommodation for the child to learn and be successful. We have been very happy with Chos.

Cho’s legacy has a lot of reviews because parents are REQUIRED to leave a positive review as part of the belt-promotion process.This place also promotes children to the next belt as a way to charge extra money. My son has not advanced much and in a few months has been promoted to the next belts several times. Each time we are required to leave a positive review, each time charge a lot of money.If it wasn’t because we had to pay a whole year in advance, we would have gone somewhere else.Please focus less on promoting the business and more on teaching your existing customers.

My 8yr old son started just 3 months ago and is loving everything about his TKD lessons. He had been asking us for months to take TKD but we werent sure he would be committed and focused. Boy were we wrong... he leaves class so happy and proud of himself. He often comes out telling us how he got a star card for doing well during class. He has shown improvement in his behavior and respect towards us and his siblings. Also - his report card was excellent. Master Acevedo is very warm and friendly ... the kids all love him. He is excellent with controlling the group so it doesnt get crazy. Overall, we are very happy to have found Chos and recommend it highly !

Both my sons started at Chos Legacy a few months ago. They both immediately felt comfortable in the environment and with Master Acevedo. We decided to give Chos Legacy a try, in order to increase their confidence and grit, as both of these characteristics can attribute to their success as they grow older. In 3 months we have seen a significant change in both our sons, but especially our younger son. His confidence has grown and his timidness has diminished. The best part of it all, is that they look forward to going to class each week and there are always smiling faces when they come off the mat.

After attending a friends birthday party here, my son wanted his sixth birthday with Master Acevedo. The party was a hit with the kids (they played games, ran around, did some martial arts, and had pizza and cake), but even more so with ME! Master Acevedo made everything so extremely easy, I couldnt believe it. The party was affordable and organized, and not only did he provide the decorations, goodie bags, and all paper products and utensils, but he went out of his way to make everything Pokemon themed for my Pokemon-crazy son. He also sent out the email invites to collect registrations and waivers before the party, so no time was lost on paperwork when the guests arrived for the party---all I had to do was provide the email addresses! He was also very communicative, respectful, and professional through the whole planning process. He was FANTASTIC. I cannot say enough about him and Chos Legacy. My son already wants to go back for his seventh birthday.

Both of my sons are enjoying their classes. My older son suffers from anxiety and TKD has been a great outlet for him, as well as helps him build confidence with positive peers. My younger son needs help with coordination and Master Acevedo has been so patient. His coordination is improving and now we are working on persevering. Master Acevedo really gets to know what each students strengths and challenges are and customizes each program for him or her.

We have had an exceptional experience at Chos Legacy. Master Acevedo is not only talented in the area of martial arts he is patient, encouraging and focuses on all the details. It is never too late to start TKD. My son and I enrolled earlier in the year with no regrets. He is focusing more and listening better in a few short months. He was thrilled when he broke his first board (and still shows people) and is always excited to go to class. Master Acevedo and the other instructors work well with the little kids to teach them respect to others and self.The adult class is a mixture of belt levels and ages. My stress, flexibility, and general fitness feels improved and its great to support a small business. I never tried martial arts before and only wish I started earlier!

Master Acevedo has the patience and creativity to handle 20 plus 6-9 year olds simultaneously while keeping the Little Ninjas engaged through focused learning and fun activities to build confidence and discipline with the students. We have noticed how focused our son, Tyler, has becoming and are glad we have him in the school. We recommend this because there are flexible scheduled times allowing for ease in planning.

Legacy is wonderful! Our son Jake looks forward to going every week and gets so excited to learn some new moves! He has gained so much confidence since starting there. We have never been happier with an after school activity for our son and neither has he! keep up the great work!

My 2 kids (ages 4 & 6) started a few months ago. They absolutely love it! Master Acevedo is great with both of them. Im amazed how he gets the entire room to focus, listen, learn and have fun. They are enjoying learning Tae Kwon Do and are always so excited to go to class. This makes it so we can almost always attend twice a week!They have also attending 2 Parents Night Out events - Themed events from 6-9pm on select Friday nights. My son joined Chos Legacy when we first moved to the area, and it was a fantastic decision. In 2+ years, we have seen a huge improvement in his maturity, confidence and discipline, which can absolutely be attributed to the incredible mentoring and leadership of Master Akil Acevedo. Ive never written a Google Review before, but he deserves all the praise he can get!

We started at Cho’s Legacy on a trial and our 6-year old was immediately hooked. From a Tae Kwon Do standpoint, Master Acevedo offers the right mix of instruction with a heavy dose of positive reinforcement. He’s just really, really good with kids—making eye contact, truly listening to what they have to say, and showing great enthusiasm. The kids seem to learn quickly and the positive feedback helps instill confidence and motivate them to want to keep going. At the end of every class, a group of students are always crowded around Master Acevedo to continue talking with him and telling him things. That says a lot.However, Cho’s is about more than TKD. We also love that our son learns life lessons here as well: Master Acevedo speaks to them about dealing with bullies, respecting parents and family, being a good friend. It’s great that all the positive things parents try to instill in their kids at home they’re hearing from others as well. To reinforce these lessons, the students can earn “Star Cards” during class or for demonstrating good behavior outside of class, and amassing 10 cards earns a small trophy. Testing for the next belt level also requires verification that students are being good people.One last thing that separates Cho’s Legacy: Periodically, there are Kid’s Night Events on Friday nights which give parents the opportunity to enjoy a date night from 6-9 PM.We are glad we were introduced to this place, and how excited our son is to come every time.

My son always has an amazing time in his takedown do class! Master Acevedo is so kind to all of the children. He instills discipline respect and honor all while keeping the childrens attention and having fun!

We initially enrolled our daughter to help build her confidence and focus. As soon as 3 weeks in we noticed a huge improvement.Master Acevedo is wonderful with kids, heis extremely patient and has a real knack for getting through to the kids. My 4 year old son has been taking classes for 3 months and weve been very pleased. The classes promote fitness and self discipline as well as basic tae kwon do skills. Master Acevedo is charismatic and fun, but at the same time has full command of the class and its obvious that the children respect him. I like that my son has to report to him how he is behaving at home- I have definitely threatened to tattle to Master Acevedo more than once :). I would highly recommend Chos Legacy for children or adults. The studio is clean and well cared for, parking is ample, and there are lots of class times to choose from.

I recommend the school 1000%. I dont have enough words for the school and master Acevedo. The change in my son actitud and the level of his auto stern are incredible. Plus his discipline and concentration to finish a task are amazing.

My younger sibling and I have been going to this school for 5 years now, and have much positive feedback to give after experiencing the schools instruction of discipline and respect, not simply of kicking and punching. There has always been a kind, welcoming vibe from fellow students and the instructors; and the current instructor, Master Acevedo, keeps doing a better job of maintaining this atmosphere. The training is engaging, yet fun. It is more than welcoming to young children, with events being held every few weeks for them to participate in and enjoy; and those too old to participate in such endeavors still have options to keep themselves engaged in the sport. Aside from the physical activity, respect and discipline are consistently enforced. We have witnessed how tkd classes have taught even the more behaviorally challenging kids tp be a little more tactful and respectful. I joined Chos Legacy TKD Martial Arts in July of 2016 and I must say it has been such a great experience. There are kids and adults in my classes and its great to be able to work with both groups. Im getting in better shape, learning great self defense skills, learning more about myself and my strengths/weaknesses, and becoming more patient with myself and others. I also joined with my significant other which gives us more time together to do something we both enjoy. I have been going to Chos for almost 3 years and have learned so much. Not just about self-defense but about discipline and that hard work pays off. My son loves the tae kwon do classes, hes been doing this for 9 months now. Master Acevedo is fantastic with the kids. Hes kind but firm, very approachable and engaging but at the same time commands respect from the group. The kids learn discipline and confidence, and I love that the classes not only focus on the physical aspect of tae kwon do but also have a lot of emphasis on respect and discipline. Weve seen such a difference with behavior, attitude and focus. Classes are engaging for the kids and my son looks forward to each one. At school he has gone from the shy kid who was afraid to participate in class or ask a question to a child with confidence. He now has lots of friends, participates in class and isnt afraid to make friends wherever he goes. At home we use the one rule and zero rule framework and its greatly helped our family dynamic with chores, routines and resistance.

I used to do TKD at another place and even though l enjoyed it at my old place, l like Chos better. Master Akil makes it really fun and he does fun events and evenings for us to enjoy as a group. lts good exercise and lve made lots of new friends, as well as seeing friends from school and other extra curricular sports.

My experience at chos legacy tae kwon do was definitely more than I hoped for. The master is very nice and the students are always 100% focused. It helps you in the body and the mind. It teaches patience and discipline.

My two daughters Abril and Vera have been attending Tae Kwon do classes with Master Acevedo for a couple of months now. Sean continues to really enjoy Tae Kwon Do. He is very excited about testing again and getting closer to his black belt. Sean has learned so much in his time at Chos. Most recently he feels he has learned to protect himself in the event someone tries to hurt him. Chos has also taught Sean discipline and respect.

Chos Legacy TKD is aptly named as Master Acevedo has continued the tradition of excellence handed down from Grand Master Cho. I began practicing Tae Kwon Do at age 42 over 9 years at Chos TKD. When Master Acevedo took over the school, the quality of the classes remained as high as ever. He is very proficient at teaching to each students skill level, which enables all students from beginners to advanced to improve their own ability during the same class. Under his tutelage, I have received a wide variety of training such as sparring, weapons training, and precision kicking. Ive learned several new forms, practiced a number of different self-defense techniques, and mastered some advanced kicks. My self-confidence has improved, and Ive gained additional knowledge of the history of TKD and philosophy of Chung Do Kwan, which is our style of Tae Kwon Do. Overall, I have found his classes to be both mentally and physically stimulating.

We enrolled my 5 year old son 4 months ago in hopes that the class would help with his confidence as well as focus and discipline. The first day I took him he was nervous to participate as he gets overwhelmed in new situations. Master Akil Acevedo and the rest of the staff where incredibly kind and patient with him. By his second class he had built enough confidence to participate fully and his love for Tae Kwon Do continues to grow! He is so excited to go to class every week and when he received a trophy for getting 10 stars, that was the most proud of an accomplishment I have ever seen him. As the name implies, Master Acevedo is carrying on the tradition set forth by Great Grand Master Kyu Hyun Cho. Students learn traditional Tae Kwon Do, but with a modern sense of camaraderie that is unique to Master Acevedo. I always feel welcome when I enter the school, like it is my second home. I train with adults and children of all ages and abilities. The class time is set up such that each student can get some personalized instruction and feedback. Everyone, from a brand new student at white belt to a senior black belt, has something to learn and to share with the rest of the group. Overall, I feel I am a more effective leader at work in the corporate world because of my training at Chos.

Studying Tae Kwon Do at Chos Legacy with Master Akil has had a truly profound impact on my son. He exhibits a focus and goal-orientation that I have really never seen before. Master Akil is gifted at having goal-setting and learning self-control become something that the kids enjoy. Update June 2017: Were now on our second year with the school, and I agree with everything --and more! Ive seen my daughters growth as a student of Tae Kwon Do and seen the positive effect from it extend into other phases of her life, both at school and home. I cannot recommend this school enough!__________An amazing journey for me and my daughter. I studied at the original Chos Tae Kwon Do with Master Cho back when I was younger. When my daughter (6 at the time) , went to a TKD birthday party she wanted to study herself. The first place I thought about was Chos Legacy.I took Stella to a personal class/meeting with Master Acevedo and she loved it. I loved being back in the Do Jong again and was struck not only by how much she love it, but by the instant rapport between Master Akil and Stella. Not every martial artist can be a teacher, and not all of those teachers can connect with and teach to 6 year old kids the way he does.After the hour meeting, Stella asked if she could sign up and I said of course. She then told me that she could see how much fun I had being there with her and asked me to sign up with her. I did not realize until I went there just how much I missed studying TKD and I agreed. Weve now spent the last 11 months studying together, practicing at home, and bonding over a shared dedication and love of the sport.Studying here has given her such confidence and accomplishment. At her school talent show this fall, she worked on a routine with Master Akil and there she was, a 7 year old all by herself on stage running through a routine and bringing the crowd to their feet with a thundering board breaking finish.Weve committed to obtaining our black belts together and I cant wait to continue our training together.Challenging and fun for children and adults alike.
