I went with my family a few months ago and everything was good! But My family has gone here for years for weddings or food and everything usually goes well. The fish was definitely the star of the meal and was cooked perfectly and enough to share between my family of five. I also have had the sugared donuts here and they’re great as well. I definitely recommend checking it out if you have a chance for some genuinely good food and to support a small business.I do not know anything of their current mask or Covid policies though but when I went, tables were distanced and they wore masks.

The food was good, but the selection was limited. The price was the main problem. I had the lunch buffet with a soda and the price came to $15. Theres much better Chinese lunch buffet options for $9 within a few miles.

The place is way bigger than it appears on the outside!

This was my go-to place for a buffet when I was in college. Especially if you come at lunch, it was a solid deal. Pretty standard fare, but I think they really did a good job with their pork dumplings. Sometimes there would be events there and they would still leave the place open for on the street diners to come in. I didnt have an issue with it and I found it was kind of funny. The place definitely fills up during events for parking. For a time they had a deal that if you ate there you could keep your car there during the event. Not sure if they do that anymore.

Really good basic Chinese food (Owners are Cambodian). Huge servings at good price. Tables distanced. Only 5 people other than us over 4 hours on a Friday, so very safe. Give them some business!!

UGarden has good food and the people who run it are fantastic!

First time at this restaurant and I am very impressed. The food was amazing, our waiter was very nice and helpful. The restaurant was much bigger than I thought and clean. Portions were huge and well worth the price. We will be back for sure

Its Covid, yet they have no mask policy. People are literally using the crowded buffet with no mask. It made me physically sick seeing that. Im pregnant, and felt very unsafe in that restaurant. And the food was gross too. I also vomited in the parking lot afterwards...

Food was fire. The servers were awesome, always looking out for us and making sure we were taken care of. Portions were more than worth the price—donuts are 100% worth it.

Highly recommend for a wedding reception. The food was good... some great (best walnut shrimp ever) and some OK. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

I enjoyed eating lunch here with two others. The restaurant is spacious and well lit, with moderate views. The value for money is excellent and we got quite a lot of food for the money. The kung pao could have been more spicy, but was delicious and filling and we were given more chili sauce as soon as we asked. The kung pao goes well with both plain rice and the vegetable lo mein. The vegetable fried rice and lo mein were great-tasting and filling as well. For U students, the restaurant is close to the stadium village area and there is also a buffet option. 100% recommend and looking forward to returning!

My experience was great. We had a group of about 30 people and order multiple course meals.The seafood soup was some of the best tasting that Ive ever had. Believe me when I say that Im an eater and I know where the good stuff is. This is where the good stuff is!!!Other customers seem to complain about consistency. Im sorry to hear that. I cannot vouch for this place since I have only eaten here once. But I would definitely visit again.When complaining about these types of restaurants, it is often the people who dont know what they are doing and dont know which items on the menu will meet the expectations of their palate.This place serves traditional meals and that may not appeal to some.Please educate yourself before making complaints. Sometimes, it is not that the establishment is a bad restaurant, but it may be that one is an under-informed customer.

Hands down the best chinese food place I have ever been! I go there a few times a week and the food is consistently good. The owner is probably the nicest guy in Minneapolis. The workers are nothing short of amazing. If I had to eat at one place forever, it would definitely be here! Dont take my word for it, try it yourself!

I have been going to you garden and enjoying their food since 1991 or so. Their food is of the highest quality and is always delicious. Their event center is gorgeous and I would recommend it for any special occasion.

Im very sad today..My fiancee and I have been coming here for 12 years. We love the buffet, though its not always perfect. The one thing I count on is the Sesame Chicken, it is the absolute BEST! The only thing I love more than that chicken is the female troop that is the serving staff. They are professionals, friendly, and greet you warmly. The problems arise with the managers who closely monitor the guests. Here are 2 reasons we shall never return:1) I once said that the pot sticker tasted bad, I was worried that something might have spoiled. I pointed it out to a manager and said that I loved all the other food. He responded by taking me aside and eating one of them right in front of my face, blaming me for the problem. He said it was perfect and I had no reason to complain. How rude!2) Today we came in and there wasnt much Sesame chicken left. What was left were small, shredded pieces. Thats not their fault, but I asked if a fresh batch was coming. The nice lady ordered it and I waited. As I spoke with my fiancee, a different manager was sitting behind me. He came to our table with food in his mouth and said they wouldnt provide fresh chicken. It was already fresh. He then went to the kitchen and cancelled the order. My fiancee was livid, we stood up half full, paid, and promised to never return.12 years going here... Ill miss the serving team. Theyre so wonderful. If any managers read this, we do not invite any reply. Reaching out to us will yield no response from us.Dont go to U Garden... the managers will ruin the experience for you.

Decided to try this out tonight for the first time. We ordered the dinner buffet. While its not a huge buffet, the selection was still really good. The food was better than most Asian buffets Ive been too. The chicken on a stick, egg rolls, and general spicy chicken were really good. They have a nice tiny little salad area, and this is the 1st time Ive seen ice cream served like this- a chest freezer with several flavors of real ice cream you scoop yourself. Really good ice cream. Even green tea ice cream. The atmosphere was nice too. Low lights, and roomy. Well definitely be back.

This restaurant is very large and is able to accommodate large parties for dining. The buffet has a great selection of food however the quality is unpredictable. You can expect a fresh setup at piping hot temperatures, or you can expect the exact opposite. All in all, its a cheap option and better than some buffets Ive dined at previously. We will return and hope for the best - when its good, its good!

Ok buffet style place, with mostly fresh food and salad and ice cream. Prices are reasonable, with take out pricing by the pound available. Easy parking in the back. Servers are very attentive and pleasant. Id recommend for lunch.

Love the atmosphere. Love the food. The buffet size could stand to be larger. But, not if it would compromise the quality of the food... The staff are fun and friendly. We go there for a lot of our meetings and dinners. The size is great for an event too.

Mediocre buffet

We like the soups, sesame chicken, crispy duck, lo mein, vegetable fried rice... its also nice to finish with a bowl of ice cream after the buffet.

Its never busy here. It was made for events I think. You can definitely book events here. Some people dine alone. There is a buffet and you also have the option of ordering a meal from the menu instead. Staff is very kind. The place is reasonably priced and the food is delicious.

I got food poisoning both times I have been here. Not a clean place, and workers are very rude. On top of all of this, we just got a brand new car and didn’t want to get door dinged, so we took two spots in the corner of the empty parking lot. As we were leaving, we noticed a lock on our wheel and a piece of duct tape on our window saying we owed and extra $30 for taking two spots. My family and I went inside to speak with the manager who was apparently not available, so we talked to a worker who was very unpleasant. I would not even recommend this place to my worst enemy.

If you like mild Americanized Chinese food this place is for you. The buffet was very full. My friend that took me loves it. The items were kept fresh. For me there was chili oil and scallions and while mild the flavours on what i chose were good.

Ok, the first time I tried to go here I left right away when someone walked up to my car and angrily asked me if I was going to eat there... I said I wouldnt go back but... I went back and this is way over priced, not enough selection of items to charge 15+ dollars a person. I get it they are on campus but thats all the more why it shouldnt be so high priced. I could have went to Tapinyaki and paid the same price but had over 100 different things to choose from to eat along with the Mongolian grill. I wont be coming back should have listened to my self from the first experience.. Over 40 bucks for two adults and one child insane!

When Im in the U of M campus area I stop here for dinner. Small buffet but, tasty.

Very disappointing. It was a buffet and I tasted many things. Few things were actually hot, more warm if that. We were there around 530 and I think most dishes sat too long. Not stopping there again.

We have had lunch here a few times and they provide your traditional quick Chinese buffet. It can be hit or miss depending on the time of the day and how busy it has been. If you are coming during a lunch or dinner rush, chances are you will find adequate portions of hot food. If you are coming during an off time, I wouldnt recommend the buffet, and would recommend ordering off their regular menu. (Which is available all day if you want guaranteed hot food!) Staff has always been friendly and we havent ever had to wait for a drink refill or our check at the end. Overall, a very good stop if you are looking for an traditional, Chinese buffet.

All tasted the same and the staff kept watching me like they were doing a tally in their head of how much I ate/ was costing them. The food was dry under the lights when I got there and during my lunch they brought out very little to replace what was out. Will not be going back...

Attending a wedding reception here. The service was good. Maybe the lunches and regular dinner entrees are good but the wedding food was overall, not good. Slimy and bland. With all the amazing options in TC I wont go back.

I have never had even a remotely mediocre meal at U Garden and for the most part, the food here is excellent. I too, have no idea where the bad reviews are coming from. If you have a problem, civilly tell them and see what happens; they will satisfy all but the most asinine reviewers here.Many Chinese restaurants make an effort to accommodate Western tastes, but unless you favor only the buffet, not that those dishes are not good choices as well (you can serve up your selections to go by the pound), you can get whatever authentic dish you want at U Garden and I know they will attempt to accommodate individual tastes or dietary needs.There are some unique takes on classic recipes; one of my U Garden favorites is their Hot and Sour Soup, always on the buffet, so packed with vegetables and pork along with the traditional ingredients and flavors that a quart could make a fine meal for two or three hungry people, and stuff them to the gills with the addition of a few appetizers.U Garden is a fine restaurant and you should go eat there, especially if you are after great food and superlative service.

We were here for a 10ur anniversary. The whole place was rented out and was beautiful. The outside of the building does not do the place justice. The staff was friendly and attentive and the food was delicious.

I was hesitant at first...very large place with no customers at 7pm on a Tuesday. The food was very very good. We had sweet and sour chicken, vegetable lo mein, wonton soup and chicken vegetable soup. EVERYTHING was delicious! We will definitely go back!8/12/19: So, we went back and had Moo shu pork and vegetable lo mein... absolutely delicious! The food came fresh, hot, fast and large!!
