If you get the chance to even speak to anyone they are a good company to work with if your looking for resources in the community. I accepted for Assistance for the housing program BUT Ive been waiting 2 weeks to hear something from them and they return calls right away like they say they do and the phone number to the direct line...is off its a 10 year old boy number now and his mother wants us to stop calling. The number to call is 270 4646 for housing. Good luck talking to anyone.

I applied in March 2021. I had to go to small claims court. A family friends parent sold a vehicle to help me. Then in July they sent a check but couldnt be used because of rhe rent had been paid for the months they issued the month they called it was the end of July and I just received a notice I was going ro have to vacate. But since they had finally gotten in touch and answered a phone call they gave me in the email they told me they would reissue a new check for July august September and october. Which also doesnt add up to the amount they approved me for. Now I have court again this month because a check was never sent the day after I spoke to them towards the end of july. Ive emailed Ive called its impossible to get through and I have no was down there. Im a single mom. No more unemployment no family. Frantically looking for a job when I dont even have nice clothed for interviews. My daughter has had to stay more by her fathers house because of my hardships and I have a condition in which too much stress cripples me. This has been devastating! They even called me the day before my eviction court date in march but they were calling for somebody named Caleb not me & she refused to speak about my case regardless of my situation. So messed up. Im terrified.

I filled out my rent assistance application in May, it is now heading into September and I have heard nothing from CA. When I log in on-line to check the status of my application it still says under review! No calls, no emails, no nothing! I’m becoming a little concerned, because I’ve never experienced this type of inconsistency with CA. In the past, they have always been prompt and consistent! I do understand we’re in a pandemic, but that should mean it should be more of an urgency to get people the help needed!

Horrible. As a landlord dont fall for theirpromises. My tenant was approved in June applied in May it is now July 30th and I still havent received any money. They dont answer the phone I have waited on hold for over 2 hours when they disconnected me. When I did speak to someone they would not offer anymore help or information other than to say checks are made out on Mondays no idea when Ill get paid. I am now in a situation where my only option is to sell my rental

I applied at the beginning when they were first issued the mo ey to help, I was going through a divorce and my spouse was the main bread winner, I told them I would become homeless and they said since my issue was not COVID19 related I could not apply for help. I was evicted and I am now living in a shelter, thank God for family promise in Waukesha County, theyre helping me with everything. I was very disappointed

Horrible. During the pandemic my case worker Jessica was the bomb.com. Then as this new year began I lost her and all sense of help. I reapplied in March and still have not received any help. When they finally did get a hold of me at the beginning of July, I was told by a supervisor my check would be processed. Then I was told in the middle of the month that I was going to be denied because of paying rent and not getting kicked out my my place. Seriously? My landlord was fighting my moratorium and I almost got kicked out in April. While I am waiting for my rental assistance to kick in. The case worker must of had a moment of humanity because she approved my August but was acting like she was doing me a favor. Said she would experience check since I waited all this time. Even though she is only helping with August lets not even go there. Side eye. That never happened called back a couple days later asking about the email my landlord and I were suppose to recieve when the check was processed. She then told me she couldnt process the check until the 1st since I dont owe anything. Guess what I still havent gotten my check and cant seem to get a hold of her. Funny. I called 4 times and left voicemails each time. I even emailed her. No response. I have called the customer service line and left voicemails in every department I could. This is crazy.

They conduct business Good. There set up is good. They have you come into the first set of doors. Then a employee come out to see how they can assist. They only let 3 people in at a time. Distancing is planned well. Depending on what you are there for it goes pretty quick.

I was approved in the beginning of June last week of August still nothing had been received by my landlord. I’m on the verge of being homeless because we can’t get a straight answer from anyone at CA left numerous message never receive a return call receptionist can’t give any specific details you can’t speak to a supervisor they take your information and say you’ll get a call back still hasn’t happened

I have never had any problems getting service from this place until covid came. I have been calling leaving messages after messages leaving email address. I have been trying to get in touch with them since mid may and NO BODY will even try to call you back there has been absolutely no communication. Community Advocates really dropped the ball when myself and thousands of other who truly needs help and cant even get a simple phone call text or email. Next step will be calling/ emailing to Madison to put in a formal complaint. COMMUNITY ADVOCATES NEEDS TO DO BETTER WITH HELPING THE COMMUNITY (considering its base word Community)

Forget Wisconsin unemployment or the Chinese restaurant in Albuquerque that delivered my food three hours late (and still made me pay): Community Advocates has taken their place as the worst organization with which I have dealt. If I could give this org negative stars, I would, because it is a whole mess.The short of it: Ive been waiting four months for rent assistance and have to call multiple times to get an update on my case (and no one gets back to me until at least a week has passed).The long of it: I applied for rent assistance in late July of 2020 while awaiting unemployment. I sent in the required documents and waited for a month, after which I called Community Advocates and found out that I needed additional documentation, which I sent over within 48 hours. I sent copies of this several times, since I never received any confirmation that Community Advocates had received it.Another couple of weeks passed and I began calling and emailing Community Advocates again to see the status of my case. They got back to me a month later (mid-September-ish) and told me that my case worker should be in contact within 72 hours.She wasnt, so I called again (after waiting more like 96 hours) and was told that she was reported to her superiors and that someone would be in contact soon.No one was! Thankfully, this is the part where theres a deus ex machina and my unemployment finally got to me, so my rent for October and November was covered (but only after I sent an email to Community Advocates once again in which I pretty much begged for the help theyd promised). I did reach out to Community Advocates during this time and they said theyd had a hard time contacting my apartment company. I called my apartment company to ask them about this and someone offered to fill out the proper forms and send them to Community Advocates. I thought I might get an update this way, but not a word.Now, with December on its way and a hiccup in my unemployment benefits leaving me even more uncertain, Im left with no money to pay my December rent, so I have once again attempted to contact them. Im hoping that they can finally give me the help theyve promised, but Im not counting on it.I understand that they are busy due to COVID, but stringing someone along like this for four months is cruel. Getting Community Advocates to give me updates on my case is like trying to get middle school students to hand in their homework: an exhausting and neverending endeavor that is ultimately fruitless.If you have another option for assistance, I urge you to use that. If you have no other choice, I dearly hope that this organization treats you with more care than they have shown to me (and advise you to make audio recordings of all of your interactions with them).

If it’s involving WE assistance they’re prompt and great. But that housing department? NEEDS A SERIOUS TURN AROUND. The amount of time they take to even get your case started, to “getting it upstairs” if you ever get approved you’ll be homeless by then. Nobody is on the same accord as far as needed documentation, the receptionist as the front will be your worst enemy THEY KNOW NOTHING, they won’t submit your documents when you just “Drop them off”, never ask them questions because they will tell you the wrong thing then you’ll get down there and the workers will simply say “Oh Lauren? She doesn’t even work housing” from Dec 22- Feb 3 I have visited the building at least 15 times. I’ve still received no assistance.

Started trying to apply for energy assistance back in April. It is now about to be the first week of June. Was made to wait weeks for an appointment. Clarified with the worker EXACTLY what documents I would need to bring to the appointment in order to submit my application. Got there, was instantly told I dont have enough documents, and the documents I do have arent needed, despite me bringing EXACTLY what I was told. Sent me away, said get more documents, then come back in person. You cant e-mail, fax, submit online, or mail your documents. I dont have access to transportation. Its very hard for me to get downtown. I told them it would be weeks before I am able to get back down there with the new round of documents. They assured me, as soon as you hand us those documents, we will add the benefit to your account, nothing further is needed. Come in anytime between 9A-5P, you dont need to speak with anyone, you will just drop off your documents at the front desk. Weeks later, a friend is able to give me a ride at 4 PM in rush hour traffic, I manage to make it in there within 10 minutes before closing. The lady says, oh no, youll have to come back, we stop accepting documents in the early afternoon. I explained to her that wouldnt be possible for me, and that the previous worker said ANY time between 9A-5P. Oh, ok, she says, then I will leave them in the mailbox for the case worker. Why didnt she mention that there was a mailbox first time around, before I had to argue with her?! After I submit the documents, no benefits were applied to my account. I didnt hear anything. I called to check on the status...oh we need more documents. And youll have to come back in person. After you submit these, then we can apply the benefit to your account right away. The documents they wanted this time are documents I already filled out! I said, I cant come back in for several weeks, it is so hard to get a ride downtown! They said, guess you cant have energy assistance then. We will mail you the documents to fill out anyway (previously, mail isnt an option), and if you get them back before the application deadline, we will apply the benefits to your account. My application deadline is in two days. The documents never showed up. This place is a complete waste of time for people in need, they do everything in their power to make access to help IMPOSSIBLE. You will NOT receive energy assistance if you come here, just a run around!

I use to literally hate coming to this place before Maximus and its affiliates took on ResCare. The associates for ResCare were very rude inconsiderate of their clients personal situations of things. Had no professional etiquette. Would treat the place of business like its happy hour at the bar🍸or club. Than you have the workers and I do mean workers who are diligently working hard to help assist the clients with the necessity that they need to move forward and become self sufficient in todays world. So its been a win or lose situation for me with its own perks.

Come on now, this has been a nuisance for YEARS!! All that paint from peoples vehicles on that wall to the building should make yall feel some kind of way. Horrible place. I went there and as soon as I parked and exited my car I was me by the maintenance man, who claimed he owned the parking lot, telling me if I didnt move I would be towed. I told him I was running into the store and then coming into the building. He said I couldnt park there and then threatened to break my jaw if i didnt move my car. I will be filing a formal complaint. You are there to help people and allow this guy to try to intimidate people parking there.

My power was to be shut off within a couple days and I was absolutely afraid and had no way to cover the payment. I was referred to Community Advocates and called right away. They immediately set me up with assistance and told me step-by-step what actions I needed to take. The woman on the phone was gentle, patient, kind, informative and HELPFUL. I ended up going in person to sign a form and they welcomed me with professionalism and grace. The building was clean, the staff was courteous and knowledgeable and I walked away hoping to land a job there helping others as they have helped me. My power will continue to run now and I am on a payment plan with WE Energies. 5 Stars all the way!

We came to Covering Wisconsin in this building for help evaluating health insurance options after I lost my job. The waiting area is a quick lesson in urban life. The building is clean. The parking lot is treacherous for walking to and from your car, both in terms of holes and drivers. Sign in at the desk, and you wont have to pay for parking.

I had a terrible experience today. I was there today with my sick child for 2 hours waiting to see someone about rent abatement until repairs are done because this is the 2nd time my child has been hospitalized for high lead levels. Someone finally tells me to go home and wait for a call to get an appointment. Someone calls me & tells me they cant schedule an appointment for me until I come back and make a copy of the property report!!! I already wasted 2 hours sitting in the waiting room with my sick child I dont have time to keep coming back and forth because of your incompetence !!I had the report in my purse the whole time but the lady just dismissed me before I could ask anything now Im back at the hospital with my child trying to stay positive but its frustrating when community resources set to help you seem to make things worse for you than better

I was happy with the fast service. I visited for my energy assistance appointment and was seen on time. The woman who processed my assistance was helpful and professional. The people at the front desk are not friendly though. Instead of seeing smiles, you are greeted with frowns & attitudes. I almost felt like I did something wrong telling the lady I was there for an appointment.

Slow and unorganized. People checking in for energy assistance and documents returned stand in the same line as appointments. Very time consuming. One window for appointments one for walking a and returning documents. Returning documents then sent to the appointment window. Checking in takes extremely to long and there in no accommodation for the disabled wanting in line.

CA works hard to get people help..From food, to energy assistance, to housing advice... They can answer legal questions, but probably cant represent you in court proceedings.You could call, but better yet, go there in person....bring bank statements, rental info., SSI,/SSD paperwork.....Good Luck!

Not only were they really rude but also, any listing they have is not up to date at all and the lady I talked to obviously didnt care at all. WORST PLACE EVER!!!!!!!! They never seem to give the proper information, when referred to a worker the worker can not help nor even give any useful information just horrible super upset with the lack of resources they provide or maybe it’s just I’m encountering myself with people who are lazy and don’t want to do their job.....was at the location last week waited for a worker gave my information they sent out a message for someone to contact me and no one reached out so I called and when I finally speak to Denis from Housing she was unable to even help me telling me “ I don’t no why they didn’t give you that information in the front I never got a message from you ect ect. Again 2nd time I’ve been there needing help new to this state just some guidance and nothing every time..... horrible if this is how a lot of families are getting treated.

Horrible service. Veronica Lewis in Energy Assistance was messy and rude. Told me she couldnt continue to help me because she gets off at 4:30. But she had enough time to ask messy questions about my past that had nothing to do with energy assistance eligibility. She is holding up my case for information she has access to herself. I had a stroke and couldnt go myself so my husband went. She tried to give him the run around and rush him out the door. When I spoke to her she understood that I knew that she wasnt doing things according to the policy. At that point she became more interested in who I was and where I used to work rather providing the service Community Advocates is known for. Just because I am in need of help from an agency doesnt mean that I should be treated like a second rate citizen. #SMH #WISHIDIDNTNEEDHELP!

I applied on 6/28/18 in person. They told me 2 business days but I never got a call back. so I called twice and left 2 voicemails and still nothing. Thank God Im still working or I would really be in trouble smh. You ask for help the one time you really need it from these programs and you dont get it. But the people who are always getting vouchers or finding ways to scheme always get help it seems. Lol thank God for his grace and mercy 🙏🙏
