A Milwaukee institution. I have been coming here since 2009. Its a huge menu so look it over carefully. Everyone loves their margaritas!

Great margaritas and a great vibe. Plenty of room for larger groups with friendly, helpful and patient staff. I ordered the Chili Steak and asked for the hot red sauce on the side. The entire meal was delicious, and the red sauce had a great kick to it. Sit at the bar, one of the high tops or at a table. Awesome, authentic place for a date night, girls night or occasion with friends.

My chicken enchiladas were delicious! Service was great as well!

Due to COVID our drinks were served in plastic cups, however, our margaritas were still flavorful and still packed a punch. The food was amazing and the servers tried to make everyone feel comfortable. This was my first time venturing out to a restaurant since March. What made me feel safe about my decision was the fact that we sat outside on the patio. Great outing but next time Id just take my order to go:)

We were visiting Milwaukee from out of state and stopped in Botanas for an amazing lunch, hosted by a fantastic staff with the most professional service! The food was superb, and the atmosphere was absolutely perfect! I highly recommend dining at this facility!

Clean. Good service. Choices for vegetarians. Had the small chimichanga and vegetarian pizza. Portion was big for two of plus. Server was friendly and the manager went to every table to ask if the guests needed anything else. The best part, they have a parking lot for customers. Within driving distance from the Harley Davidson museum

Good food. By far the fastest customer service I ever experienced. We were greeted at the front door, given chips/salsa/drinks, and our dinner within 5 minues! And they were busy! Ive been to many Mexican restaurants and am very impressed!

We stopped in at Botanas after HarleyFest. It was hard to find places that were open but once we saw the neon light with the open sign we figured we might have a chance at a late night dinner. We walked into the restaurant 5 minutes before the kitchen closed (yeah I know, we were one of those people). The hostess and servers didnt miss a beat though. They kindly and warmly greeted us and sat is down at a table. We each ordered out meal and then got to work in the kitchen making it. The server then came out with chips and salsa and the drinks we ordered. Shortly after we got our meals. The service was fast, friendly, and the food was good. We both enjoyed our meals. We left a really good tip too as we knew coming in right before close can be a hassle.The atmosphere was fun and delightful and odd at the same time. With drawings of old what I thought might be Myians on the walls and margarita glasses hanging nicely above the bar. It was a very enjoyable atmosphere and well decorated.I will definitely be adding this place to the Mexican places I visit!

Packed, good buzz/vibe. Drinks, fun are all on point. However the food is a bit of a let down. Ordered a #3 combo, all chicken, and it was just bland. No spice or flavor to the meat at all. It was just... Chicken. Also, the beans and rice kinda tasted like fish. Not sure what thats about. Id recommend a smaller, less known place for anyone looking for good Mexican food.

The staff was wonderful. The chips, salsa, and margarita were fantastic. The fish tacos were not fantastic- I was very disappointed. They were not as fresh tasting as I expected and the fish was drowned in an unidentifiable sauce/salsa. I tried to enjoy the unfamiliar preparation, but didnt. Id not had their fish tacos before; should I return, I will not order them again. My husband enjoyed his burrito.

Pros- Ridiculously tasty food. One mole sauce tasted a bit too smokey for my personal tastes... but it still wasnt bad- Good pricing- According to my wife: Damn good margarita... Im not driving after this, right?Cons- I ate too much and needed Tums.

Omg my husband and I love it here its our go to places for date nights. Noel has been our server for years we love him, he does a awesome job. Always friendly makes sure we are good on whatever. He goes above and beyond you want great service ask for NOEL.

I enjoy Botanas so much. The staff are always friendly. The food is delicious and they give you so much for your money. Never disappointed.

Besides the mandatory gratuity fee that we had a after we received our bill after 9pm, The visit wasnt bad, the location is very spacious throught the inside and a bit outside in the eating space. The food was actually very good and very filling. Ill definitely recommend and will be returning to try sum new things.

The food was good...serve was decent for the time we went around 5:30ish on a Saturday...because it started to get crowded. Overall its a nice restaurant. The mexican pizza was tasty!

Came down for a mini vacation in MKE and saw this place had good ratings and a happy hour. The food was delicious, but there wasnt a happy hour as we expected when we got there. And we didnt really enjoy the part of town it was in. Our server was fast and on top of things though, which was nice

We have been coming here for over 10 years. This is hands down the best Mexican restaurant in the Milwaukee area! And not just the food - the staff has always consistently been incredibly friendly, fast, and patient. We have seen many familiar staff faces here for years. Six of us stopped over after a Gonja (CBD) Yoga event at a business next door. They have a great patio space in the back, and its really nice. Was a busy night, but service was still good. All the food was great. Especially the Firecracker (cheese and chicken stuffed jalapeno peppers).Recommend telling the server up front that you want separate checks.

The food is Amazing!!! I had enchilada soup and a Chunky beef Chimichanga. Out of this world. The staff was lovely and the place was clean and the music was Grand.

We had hair and food talk to the owner about it and he said well I came by your table and asked if everything was good yeah it was good when we had a chips and salsa we ordered over $100 worth of food and then when the food came it was all wrong worst service ever . But the server was excellent apologize for everything but no discount or anything I’m the owner

Its funny how big this place is on the inside. The food was pretty good. The portions were definitely on the larger size for the money. Liked their patio and the service was excellent.

Hair was in our food then one food was returned it was the wrong type of meat as first ordered. Then when we ask her to go order they asked what to go order. Sad we love this place but it was very disappointing to eat here. And nothing was done about it.

I came to Botanas for my 4-year wedding anniversary tonight with my husband. We were asked the total amount of guests in our party which were 6, my husband and I included. After 30 minutes of waiting for our guests, we were asked repeatedly by the waiter about the arrival of our guests. The last time we were asked, the waiter replied: Thats why we dont seat you until your guests come we need to turn over these tables! I am visiting from out of town and was excited to dine at this establishment. Instead of complaining to management I just decided to spend my money elsewhere.I am permanently turned off by this place and do not plan on returning.

One of Milwaukee’s gems and a must do here on the south side. Amazing staff that is super friendly and some of the most consistent food out there. It’s a staple in the community and has a wonderful atmosphere. Always a good time.

Great food BUT beware of the 18% gratuity charge if you request the bill AFTER 9pm.I suggest that if you go anytime between 8pm-8:30 please close out your check immediately so that you can avoid the charges.

1 star is definitely a little low, but from how much everyone likes to hype this place up I cant give it anymore than a 1. The food was mediocre at best, the rice and beans were bland. The service was awesome. But the food had absolutely no magic.

One of the strongest margaritas Ive ever had ... and so yummy! Great place for cocktails and yummy Mexican eats. Enjoyed the Red Snapper as well as the Mexican Pizza with Chicken. Will definitely be back when the weather is nice to enjoy the outdoor seating and festive environment. Service was very friendly (Luis) and attentive.

This place is a Total Tourist Trap I saw the reviews online and went here for my birthday. I am from Southern California and the first thing I Noticed was that the salsa was very watery and was tasted like basically nothing. I asked The waitress if they had any chipotle salsa or something hotter she brought back some thing and it wasn’t even hot she even apologized. I ordered one of the house specialties chicken enchiladas with a mole sauce. It came to my table with dry cheese topping on it I had to ask for more mole sauce so it wasn’t dry! the best thing going for this place they we’re the strawberry blended margarita and shots of tequila that are mistake proof or I would’ve given No Stars. This place would make it in California more than a month if that long FACT!

It was good. I had steak fajitas but the portion size was very small. I would have to say the 21.00 dollars was not a good value for what I received. Hope it is better next time

This has been one of our go-to Mexican restaurants for a long time. During covid, the outdoor patio was a great option, and now indoor dining has returned with safety precautions in place. The service is exceptional, atmosphere is festive, and food is good too.Recommend the steak & chicken fajitas entree!Our only recent complaints:They no longer serve limes (much needed for Mexican food, steak tacos, margaritas, etc.).And they stopped selling pitchers & half-pitchers of margaritas.

Horrible cuisine, tasteless, and looked like they just opened cans of food and heated it up.TheRetried beans did not have any beans it was like soup and the rice was terrible no taste no seasoning plus the chicken taco was tasteless with no sign of seasoning.Last time we were here I said no more, we came out of convenience, a waste of money, I had to give the food back after a couple of bits and they never offered to rectify.Serving Slop is not Cool Botanas.

I dont get it. Place was packed on Saturday, maybe not the right place if you want to social distance. What COVID 19? There was 6 of us and nobody finished their dinners which is very unusual. I had the steak and chicken fajitas and you had to look for the steak and the chicken. Little tiny pieces of meat that must have been cooked earlier that day, all dry and no flavor. The server but the sizzling fajitas right in front of me and I had to use my chair to put my plate on because there was no room on the table. Maybe clear the table so we had some room?? Honestly, the food was like hospital or institutional food. Seemed like it was all made in advance and just thrown on the plates. Rice and beans were nothing special. if youre going to charge $19.95 for the fajitas at least but some meat in there. I ended up with a pile of overcooked veggies. Cant see going back, better choices around with better food and a MUCH better value.

The decor here is so cool. Its decorated like a jungle and everywhere you look is something different. All the food Ive had is delicious and authentic, the fish tacos, the botanas plate, the steak tacos are all great. The drinks are good and strong.

I went out for dinner with coworkers. The food was not good it was bland and not seasoned. My coworkers food was burnt so we called the manager over and he didn’t want to replace it. He finally took the food and came back 5 mins later with a replacement. I’m sure they picked the burnt pieces out and rewarmed it. The best thing about Botanas is their drinks.
