Stay far away from this company. biggest rip off. they made me purchase liability insurance. i told them that i already pay for liability insurance. they wouldnt let me rent the car unless i paid it. since there is a shortage of rental cars due to the pandemic, i wasnt able to rent anywhere else. they only accepted 5 insurance companies. unless you were insured under any of them, you had to purchase their insurance. its illegal. i am already insured. i purchased this in advance in april, 2021 and wasnt in florida until july 22-29. they never told me about the insurance beforehand. my one page from expedia said Nu never Horspower. the entire experience sucked. they should go out of business as far as i am concerned. they are liars and horrible people to deal with. they dont even deserve one star but i couldnt post without it.

They already had given my FULLY PAID car to someone else. (I BOOKED THIS A MONTH IN ADVANCE)And conveniently for them they didnt have any cars the same size. They then told me I had to pay an extra 300 dollars for an upgraded vehicle. I STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED MY $200 DEPOSIT BACK YET EITHER. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY THEY ARE A SCAM!!

Renting a car is so stressful. I normally do not leave reviews BUT I just rented from this company! I just had a pleasant experience. From the moment I stepped out of the airport and in to the shuttle to go rent my car, to the moment I left the car rental. The shuttle guy was so nice, people there are so welcoming, humble and understood my situation. The agent that helped me out (valeria) was so agreeable and cheerful. I was in and out in less than 20 min. Made my stay in Miami less nerve-racking than the usual places I go to ! Recommend 100%

Just rented from them a week ago and all I can say is it was an amazing service, highly recommended.Prices are really cheap compared to big car rentals and service was great, the guys at the counter were super helpful, explained everything in detail.Definitely will rent with them again on my next trip to miami, the car was brand new and my security deposit was returned in full in a couple of days

Charged additional $256 dollars on top of original $172 dollars because of not having liability insurance with $500,000 worth of coverage. My State Farm coverage and credit card coverage was not enough. I provided my car insurance and declaration page with no luck. If you purchase liability coverage online be sure to have policy information. The car rental company wants proof. I could not cancel car rental without losing my $172 dollars.

BEWARE!!!!! Don’t rent from here!!!! Biggest rip off ever!!! Non working number to call for airport pick up. Had to call emergency number to finally get an answer. Tried to say insurance wasn’t enough to cover- we needed 500,000 liability coverage instead of normal 300,000 limit -was charged extra per day. This company would not accept my private insurance- Nationwide insurance. Vehicle had non working cruise control, no antenna- no radio. Took over an hour and a half to rent car. After returning car, was charged over $400 in toll fees- we never went on a toll road.

I wish I could give a negative - star. This place is horrible. When I first rented the car they hit me with a extra 400 dollars in hidden fees . Then as I was recording the car for proof of the conditions I notice cigarette ashes and a slight smell in the car. I asked the employee on video if it would be a problem because of the 350 fee and he said no... Three days later my card was charged 356.80 for smoke.. I reach out just to be told I would be responsible for the smoke. These people are scam artist and thieves . Working now on reporting them. Please google allow me to post the video. This is not a legitimate company (Shady operation that will steal your money). It is located in a back alley about a mile from the car rental center. They charge an extra $250 before letting you pick up your car. The scheme they use is you need to provide them with proof of insurance with coverage at least 500K coverage. I happened to carry 500k on my car. When they look at your coverage most people had to contact insurance companies that took hours, it was not good enough. They told me that their policy was also an unbrella policy and you had to buy it from them. They will not give you a refund. People were there for hours. If you are a minority, they also charge an extra security deposit and say too bad it you can not pay it. I only had to pay $350 for the deposit. If you were not white, you would had to pay $500 in advance. I could not believe my eyes. They are rude and ultimately charge you more than what you would pay if you went directly to a legit car rental company like budget. If you get stuck, call the Better Business better business bureau and challenge the charges with your credit card company. Be sure to write a bad review and stick up for the individuals that get suck in Miami without a rental due to this company. They screw everyone, but you get it worse if you are not white. Stir Clear!

I recently had to postpone my trip to Miami due to circumstances beyond my control. I canceled my hotel reservation and my rental car reservation. The hotel refunded my money. However this car rental place did NOT. When I first made the reservation to rent a car from this place, the charge on my credit car was INSTANT. However its now been over 2 WEEKS and they still havent refunded my credit card. Im going to have to assume they have no intention of refunding my money because as several other reviews have stated they are scam artists. By not refunding my credit card, they have basically stolen my hard earned money. When I do reschedule my trip to Miami as some unknown future date, I will NOT be renting a car with these scamming thieves located at 3947 NW 26TH ST Miami Fl 33142.

DO NOT USE...RUN!!! I usually don’t write reviews, but this time it’s definitely necessary. DO NOT do business with this place. First, they are not located at the airport. It’s about 10 minutes away and it’s in a shabby garage like building that looks a chop shop on a side street that looks like illegal activities takes place. Second, the customer service is horrible. The employees are rude and talk to you any kind of way because once you get there it’s like you don’t have a choice, but rent the car because of where they are located. Third, the hours of operation are limited so, be extremely careful if you’re flying in because they may not be open or they may be closed causing a hardship in trying to pick the car up or return it and then trying to get back to the airport. Fourth, when you reserve the vehicle online and get there it may not be what you were expecting. Fifth, watch the charges in your card. They charged my car for the rental cost and I took it back a day early which they will not compensate you for and then about 3 weeks later they charged my card again another $76.32 stating it was for 3 toll charges and the car was never driven on a toll road. Sixth, be careful because they also use a second name for their business called nu car rental. All I can say is you will be better off doing business with a reputable car rental company.

Very small and cramped office. When I got to this location there was only one worker and 3 people in front of me. I waited for about an hour and All three people in front of me had issues with their reservations. I almost did as well. They only accept certain insurance companies so make sure you buy insurance when you rent. Otherwise you’ll be blindsided at the location and have to pay a ton of fees. The car I received was not completely clean and seemed to be an older car. Also, the credit card hold has not been released to me and it has been 3 weeks. I have never had another company do that to me. I will not be renting from this company again. Go with a trusted company even if you have to pay a more. It’s worth it.

Worst place ever! Do not use this company! I don’t understand how this company is functioning. We were in Miami for business and when you look online it says unlimited mileage until you get to the front desk! The customer service was horrible. We waited outside for well over an hour (no one greeted) and I was told I could get a refund by the girl at their front desk if I cancelled and they still charged me. When I disputed the charge with my credit card company Nu car informed I was a no show that’s why I was billed. LIARS! SCAMMERS! I will not stop disputing this charge. They stole from me!

Would have probably given it 4 stars, but a month ago my wife had to call to change our reservation. The guy on the phone said he did it. Fast forward Wwhen we get there, there is no record of the change so they didnt hold the car for us since it was 20 hrs later. We were upcharged $200 for a car for the week. Other than that we had no problems with them, but that one experience can tell you alot on the ethics a company.

This car rental is a nightmare never go here they charge you extra for insurance as much as the car rental if you don’t have 500, 000 in liability for your own insurance. It took forever to get the car long lines and they are not at the Dallas airport as it said on the address Priceline gave us when I booked them I had to take a taxi to get there. NU car rental or horspower are both in my opinion very shady and today a month from when we rented the car they charged my credit card $5.00 for no reason. I wonder if they do that to all past clients hoping they won’t notice. Month after month . I canceled my card and wrote this review hoping to save someone else the trouble . Buyers. Beware.

This place is the WORST! They are NOT located inside the airport. It took a long time for me to figure out how to contact them or where to go. When I finally figured it out, I called for someone to come get me and no one answered. I had to take a taxi. They have a ton of additional fees they charge you. The car you get isnt even all that! The customer service is horrible! I felt like I was getting a car from a shady establishment.

I cannot put into words how important it is that you stay as far away from this place as possible. I’ve been here 2 hours and have seen 5 groups either curse out the employees or start calling their credit card companies to cancel as soon as they walk out the door. Horrible experience all around. Especially the Receptionists’ Customer Service skills. They provide wrong information and add additional charges at time of pick up and drop off. They’re there as a business to make money and not to help their customers, which they’ll lose due to their lack of proper Customer Services. Please hire people with knowledge and train them well to provide the correct information. They do not provide any kind of refund/credit for their own mistakes on the reservations. I’ve always rented cars from different companies and have never experience such a terrible experience. Long story short, we couldn’t get a car & did not get our money back. Wasted over $500. Deserves zero stars.

This company is a rip off!! I would advise anyone to go to a reputable company at the airport. Customer service is horrible and they charge your credit card for unusual charges, scratches and tolls that were not apparent or used during the rental. This place is a scam. Walking to your destination would be a better option than renting a car with them. They want a $1000 deposit versus a $250 max legitimate places request (Budget, Avis, etc.). Then, they say you must have insurance and charge you an additional $30/day... so the cheap rental you thought you were getting cost just as much as a legit rental shop! We walked out and went back to the airport to rent from a reputable place and saved in the long run.

This might be one of the worst car rental companies out there. The establishment is sketchy walking up to the building. On top of your original contract, they are so many unnecessary fees. The car I rented had a tire completely blow out and they said it would be a two hour wait for road side assistance. I was driving to the Florida keys so they told me to drive the car back to them in Miami which was another 2 hours back. Instead of trying to get my tire fixed they said just ride on the spare donut tire, granted I rented the car for 3 days. I understand this is a business but shouldn’t the safety of your customers also be a concern.

Throughout my life Ive never written a review. HORSPOWER deserves a NEGATIVE 5000 review rating. This is the worst car rental agency Ive ever done business with. It took us 2 hours to check in because we refused to purchase the insurance scam they attempted to force on us. Even though we purchased insurance through the booking agency. We witnessed a variety of different deposits request for a variety of different people. We returned the vehicle with slight damage because of a hit and run. HORSPOWER fraudulently charged my credit card and refused to provide our insurance company with a bill for the repair required. DO NOT RENT from this place. It is a complete scam.

As all the other reviews have stated its the worst car rental experience I have ever had. Its a huge scam from not excepting your car insurance to forcing you to get theres with a huge hold put on your credit card. Then I was told they couldnt use my bank card issued through a major bank with a visa logo. The card can be ran as debit or credit. After about 2 hours of wasting my vacation time I returned to the airport went back to the Miami airport and had a car from Enterprise within 15 minutes. I called priceline and they cancelled and refunded me my money. Please dont go here. I should have known there would be issues from the start noticing it was in a back alley.

The prices seem to be lower, but this is a good trick. They will extort money for everything and the total will be the same as at more reliable companies (if not higher) ..We ordered a full protection through the website, however, we were told, that we need to pay extra for the must-have insurance. And even though we had American insurance, they declined to accept it. They didnt even provide any confirmation about the protection plan and coverage. Then, we were asked to pay the deposit ($350), that supposed to be released in 3-5 business days after dropp off... Its been already 8 days and Im still waiting for my money back, calling to the office. Now I was told that I need to wait 14 (!!!) more days to get my money back...Made a reservation through Carrentals.com, but these guys dont check the companies that they work with... Try to avoid this fraud business.

Complete scam, they offer one price online and when you go retrieve the car they want to add over one hundred dollars in bogus fees to the advertised price, and you can even cancel your reservation they offer no refunds. Everything was smooth and the staff was very helpful and friendly. I got a 2021 Jeep Compass which made my trip perfect. Got delayed and called to extend pickup time and no problem.

When we got on the highway we noticed the radio wasn’t working very good, so we tried to figure out what the problem was and we noticed the antenna was broken. We called the company to let them know and they basically said there wasn’t much they can do. They didn’t even offer to switch us out or anything. When we came back from Disney to drop the car we tried to speak with them at the front desk about maybe giving us a break and the young lady at the front desk was very rude. 3 weeks later we still did not get our deposit off 350 back, so we called and they responded. They said we would only be getting 2 dollars back because we had to pay for mileage. Remind you, the you lady at the front desk explained mileage was included. So save yourself time and go elsewhere. Maybe somewhere more professional.

My friend and I rented a car at NU Miami FL. At the recommendation of Cheapo air. What a mistake. It cost us way more than what at the airport would have cost us. We were not told to bring our declaration page for our insurance. After 90 min. We finally got a car. Not a good way to start. Another couple came in and left before us. The front office gal was horrible. The guy repeatedly asked for a manager or supervisor which she refused. Dont waste your time or money.

Rented for Horsepower / NU Car Rentals back in December and it was a horrible .I should have trusted the bad reviews.Valeria La Cruz was a the service representative that checked me in she was very rude and unprofessional!!! The service manger Alejamdro Aguiler was was just as bad. Please do not rent from this scam of a car rental agency it was the worst experience I have ever had with a car rental agency! When you get there they will up charge you BOGUS charges when renting the car!! Wish I could give then ZERO stars.

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!!! Made a reservation over a month in advance for a car, was told they only had a van left when I was checking in. Then they told us they place a $1000 credit card hold and you don’t get it back 5-7 business days after your return. There were several other fees that didn’t seem to be adding up. Also the place is on some side street away from the airport that didn’t give you a very good feeling. I’ve rented quite a few cars from airports and this one by far was the worst. Very sketchy!

They change your booking info without warning, close whenever they want leaving you without a car and then charged double the amount for one day of usage than the total for 4 days! They blame it all on Covid because they can’t admit how inept they are as a company. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THEM AT ALL. GO TO A REPUTABLE COMPANY!

The WORST customer service I’ve ever had!I made the reservations through Hotwire, which works great for me for hotels—I first used it for car rentals. Hotwire is known for its good deals, but sometimes you don’t know the companys name until you make the reservation.I’ve never heard about this company before. Usually, Hotwire only works with big and well-known ones.Let’s start talking about the pros:- The shuttle driver was very thoughtful and was also responsible for checking the final details of the car with you- The car given to us was in a good condition- Price of the rental okCons:- The shuttle starts operating at 8 am- They don’t accept the basic insurance that you usually get from Priceline and other providers(NEVER had a problem with this before)- They don’t accept two different policies (ex: you have the basic cover from your insurance or from the other one you bought and want to add a liability from another source, they don’t accept it. But they will offer their overpriced insurance to go with one of the ones you have)- According to the person that talked to me, in Florida you need to have liability(full insurance) to drive there. I don’t know if this is true, but I don’t trust them at all- They offer you the toll option many times until you get worried about it. And charge $25 per toll if you choose not to get the toll sticker/box with them. Florida is full of tolls, but trust your GPS if you decide no toll roads because most of them have express lanes and normal lanes. We went from Miami to Orlando with no problems.- Most of their policies are no refundable or flexible at all- The lady at the front desk wasn’t polite when we questioned about tolls or the reason for the insurance problem. She only said, “each company has its policies; we have ours.”I tried to cancel it, but she said the papers were already signed up...We asked to talk to a manager who apparently wasn’t there. I asked for the managers phone number or direct email address. She only gave me a generic email.I hate that a small familiar company like this, one that depends on their customers and that their recommendations would probably help them, to treat customers like this.No flexibility, no compassion, nothingI had an AWFUL experience with NU Car Rentals,NEVER AGAIN!Unless they change their policies and becom more flexible. First i want to state that Ive rented many times prior to this rental with nu-car/horsepowerI always use enterprise or sixt or hertz.Reasons to never use Nu-car rental/Horsepower rentals1. They wont allow you to cancel in case of any emergency, other car companies will.2. For tolls, they force you to pay about 13-14$ per DAY plus your toll amount. Then, if you dont pay, any toll will be $25 plus your toll3. They inspect car so much in detail and they highlight scratches that you cant even see, INCLUDING CURB RASH. IMAGINE THAT. so just imagine you are on the road and a rock flew and either dinged your car or slightly scratched it, guess what, theyll charge you!!!I havent handed the car in yet, thank god im very careful, and park well, so car is just as i picked it up. But lets see if they try to blame me for something.4. Their office and lot looks like a cheap center, pretty much you walk their and your like , who the hell did i just rent from5. There are just so many better options. Pay A LITTLE more and get a known car rental company.

Good pricing but very slow when it comes to dealing with customers. I had to wait for almost an hour to get to my turn. Very slow service and they charge too mu h extra money for the sun pass. I had to pay $15 per day for the sun pass and I was told if I don’t buy sunpass through them they will charge me 25 dollar fee for any toll.

Im giving them o stars they charged my card almost $400 11 days after my rental was returned. I pre paid for tolls and they charge me again for tolls fees. Tried to say the agent said the car smell funny never did we have that conversation he said everything was good before he dropped me off at the airport. They she said it take 48 hrs to see if the car smell funny then said it take 7 days for the cleaning crew to let them know. 3 different answers to why I was charged and when i told he to check the camera not 1 time they said the car smelled funny. She danced around that to show proof they never mentioned that Im a cancer patient and I cant be around smoke. When I got there I had to jump thru hoops not to pay for insurance because I have insurance made me get my declaration page because they was trying to charge me a crazy price for insurance and now they charging bogus charges for smoking and tolls that I paid for already. DO NOT RENT FROM THEM THEY SCAM ARTISTS GO TO THE AIRPORT RENTAL COMPANIES NOT THESE ONE I WILL BE TELLING PRICELINE TOO SO THEY CAN SAVE THEIR CUSTOMERS THE TROUBLE FROM BEING RIPE OFF.

Went on Hotwire for best deal. Nu was the best price of $177.00 for 10 days. Checked in with Nu and was told that if I did not get the Sunpass Toll monitor that if I went thru toll just once, Id be charged $25.00 plus toll. 2 times would be $50.00 So I said yes to Sunpass and was charged a daily activation fee of $6.95 at day for my 10 days. (extra $70.00 cost) Then I was told that I did not have enough liability coverage and needed to pay 9.95 a day for my 10 days. I said that I can call my insurance company and they can email me the updated declaration page to show the extra coverage. I was told since I already checked in that they would not allow me to do this. So $9.95 a day for 10 days (extra. $99.95 cost) So $177.00 plus $170.00 equals $347.00. The woman behind the desk was courteous. Regardless the business practices of the car rental company is unethical. They take advantage of people. In hindsight, I wish I had departed and walked to the airport car rental and used a more ethical business. Shame on them. Please listen to the poor reviews as big warning. Thank God I did not have an accident. No telling what they would have squeezed out of me.

If I could give a zero I would. I am not one to write reviews but this place is the worse and horrible customer service. They cancelled our reservation with no communication and no refunds! They also charge a lot of more for extra (their mandatory things).

Be wise they said you can’t use your sun pass on they vehicle. But you can use theirs. This how they get you. They charge an activation fee of $25 and charge you for the toll you use. Rip-off

Terrible costumer service. I hate to write bad reviews, as I’m at I’m hospitality but this was just so bad and I don’t want anyone to have to go through what I just experienced. I had a rental reserved at 6pm, shower around 5:30pm and realized I had brought the wrong Credit Card with me. I told the person helping me I would be right back, no more than 30 minutes pass and I arrive THE STORE IS CLOSED! They canceled my reservation! They didn’t inform me of this until after I had to call them. Their site says hours of op are until 9pm!!! They didn’t even have the decency to call and let us know they were going to close and cancel our reservation. Super unprofessional and shame on them for using the PANDEMIC as a reason to do bad business. They literally said because of the pandemic they had to close. Now last minute I have to run around and look for a rental

I called a whole week in advance to verify the information i needed so i could use my insurance on the rental. I was told i would need my policys decleration page( which seemed odd). I spoke to my agent and he printed a new decleration page for me so i thought we were ready to go..a week later we land in miami call the agencie as directed in the email.. It took them 20 minutes to find us. Then we were taken to a small garage with an office wher we met the agent. I presented all the info and thought wed be out quik...nope..she told me my deceration page had a recent activation date so i needed to verify that iv had the policy for more then 3 months! This information was not givin to me when i called nor was it stated in any of the paper work we recieved! I felt it was an up sale tactic! She made me call my agent at 11pm to verify my policy has been open for more then 3 months. My agent responds..mr. Andino has insured his home,business,mercedes and lexus threw us since 2016! ALSO TOLD ME TO NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH HORSE POWER RENTALS EVER AGAIN! Im thinking cool were done here...nope! She made me call corp. Just so they can tell her the same thing! So, after we jumped threw that hoop she sayes your deposit will be $1000 and it can only be paid with the person whos renting credit or debit card.....the deposit was rediculous considering i was looking at a brand new convertible bmw 4series with only $500 deposit at sixth rental cars! Mind you, we rented an economie class nissan versa.At this point its whatever which im sure they expected so we paid..we received a dirty vehicle with an air freshener and a few dents and scratches we had to make sure the guy noted so not to be charged for it later. At least the car had A/C! A week later we show up at the tiny garage/ office to return the vehicle and are told to wait in the car because no one was there..........we waited 30min for someone to show! Luckaly the women was very nice and professional. We both looked over the vehicle and she noted the previous damage and we were told wed get our $1000 deposit back. Wel see. We just got back last night so were waiting on that. The only reason im even giving them 1 star is because the last agent we delt with was so nice and professional. I didnt get her name but she did mention she was from venezuela. All in all.. I wouldnt recommend this rental companie due to deceptive sales tactic if i may call it that, too high of a deposit, shaby vehicles with previous damage that may be tact on to you if your not carefull, and lack of reliability and professionalism( being late to pick ups and drop offs, not answering phones, hard to cummunicate).DO YOURSELF THE FAVOR AND SPEND THE EXTRA $60-$100 AND SAVE YOURSELF THE HEAD ACH. YOUR ON VACATION AFTER ALL! Im used to rent cars and this is by far my worse experience with a car rental company. Horsepower Car Rental didnt respect the price and the conditions mentioned when I did the reservation online. At pick-up, they charged me a US$70 fee even though it was written on my rental voucher that the amount shown was including all taxes and fees. BE AWARE there are hidden fees !!I will never book with them again and I dont recommend this company.

Do not use this rental agency company without reading the fine print. You are forced to use their SunPass toll either $5.95 or $9.95. $5.95 just to rent the box (no tolls included) to avoid a daily $25 fee or $9.95 unlimited rental that includes tolls. Basically, you can not use your own transponder box. Do not use Hotwire attempting to get cheaper rates as it may lead you to this rental agency and you’ve already paid (nonrefundable). It is also a $1k credit card hold.Ive never heard of a rental company charging this high for a hold. You don’t know this until you’re at the agency and contract is signed. Renters beware!! Go with a reputable company, a well known company. I’d give it zero stars but I can’t. I will say that the staff was nice and respectful- so maybe worth the one star. Reading the reviews, its interesting that they will make up their hold fees to any dollar amount. Please do not rent or at least ask all questions about fees before deciding to do business with company. What started out as a Hot deal with Hotwire turned out into a ripoff! What started out as a $200 rental turned into over $500.

Trying to find a Car Rental Company in Miami that didnt have such bad reviews (which was almost impossible), I decided to give this company a chance. I was surprised, I had a free upgrade for an Out-lander with 14 miles. They asked me for proof of insurance, which is completely logical,the facilities are small; however the car and the staff were amazing.

Pro’s: None that I can think of.Cons: 1) Rental counter is not inside Miami airport. You’d have to take the shuttle/train to the car rental waiting area outside of the airport, then call the office for a pick up. They can only accommodate to pick up 6 people at a time so if you’re a group larger than 6 then you’d have to wait longer for the same driver to turn back around to pick up the rest of your group. (Be mindful of the weather as you wait outside: could be extremely hot and humid or raining downpour heavily). Apprarently, there’s only 1 driver who does the pick ups and drop offs.2) Their rental office is a tiny office that could probably accommodate 2 people at a time (with social distancing), otherwise you’d have to stand and wait outside or choose to stay inside with other people in a very tiny space area.3) They put a deposit hold on your credit card of $250 per car for at least 7 BUSINESS days (In my case, at least 12+ days so far).Our total experience with NU CAR RENTAL was not a disaster but I don’t think I would ever rent from them again. Their price is lower than most car rental place but the inconvenience is not worth the price especially if you’re on vacation.

These crooks tried to use my card today to rent a vehicle under the same credit card I used when I was there in August. Dont trust them those pretty face sitting behind the desk are crooks now they are being investigated by the credit card company for fraud.

Nu Car rental Or Horscar Rental both this same company is the most terrible place to rent from, they have hidden charges, terrible customer crevice, and overall a awful experience. My best recommendation is to avoid this place at all cost!!!

Thought it was a good deal but ended up forcing us to pay all kinds of unmentioned costs. Picked us up late from the airport and then charged us a late fee. Ended up more than doubling our rate between late fees, forced toll charges, and unnecessary insurance billing’s when we were already covered through our personal car insurance. Overall terrible experience and would never go back.

I implore you guys NOT to use these people for your car rental needs. They are THIEVES!!! Not only are they NOT an accredited business, they also don’t seem to have anyone responsible for the business. Do not fall for their lies!! Please go anywhere else but here because they will rip you off!!! I had a rate for $9/day when I booked. By the time I returned the car and saw the receipt, apparently I had been paying $39/a day!!! When I called to dispute the extra charges, the receptionist said that I should’ve read the terms n conditions. I said I did this thru Expedia. When I asked to speak to a manager, she said no. When I asked for a name of a manager or someone above her, she said she couldn’t do that. The receptionist was rude and inconsiderate. Not only does this company ROB you, but they also DONT explain THEIR terms and conditions to u when your signing their papers. They asked for my auto insurance which I found super peculiar, because FOX CAR RENTAL, SIXT, Alamo, Enterprise, etc., do not ask for that! This company should be investigated and I’ve already made my complaint with the BBB. This is an illegitimate business!!

This is my first chance to rent from Nu/Horsepower Rental and I will not be coming back. Rented through Expedia with a quoted total cost of $122.78. After Nu/Horsepower added their hidden fees, I was actually charged $159.97. I know what youre thinking, its only $37.19. To put it in perspective, thats a 30% price increase! Imagine how that adds up over time and through sheer volume of people being duped by this Expedia/Nu/Horsepower combination.Im hoping my $37 lesson learned saves you from making a very costly mistake. I rate this company 5/5 on the Pinocchio scale.**UPDATE** So I got hit with another $12.14 charge for the tolls that were accrued from my trip. While I dont dispute the usage of the tolls, how is this not covered by the previous $37 I was charged. The Horsepower rep (very polite) explained to me that the original charge was to activate the device for the SunPass usage. That makes ZERO sense. For anyone that has ever used a toll system, there is either a chip/box in the car (which there was not) or they use a plate pass. My guess is that they are using the plate pass system. This means that they are charging fictitious fees for activating a device that in reality is already done as part of the car being operated in an area with toll roads. Otherwise, they would be fined as the owner of the car and would potentially not receive that toll for weeks or months later leaving them with the hassle of figuring out who had the rental at that time and how the charges would be paid for.I am sure that Nu/Horsepower would state that this is an industry standard charge but seems like gouging to me. Show me the breakdown in labor and I will gladly conceded the point...in the meantime, I dont plan to use these guys again.

If you are hoping for a low cost car rental company in Miami DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. The online price was very competitive but when we picked up the car we were sold a Sunpass activation package(for the toll roads).We asked the lady at the cash desk at least TWICE very clearly if we would get our money back if we didnt use the Tolls. (we didnt think we would use them, she assured us we almost certainly would.)We didnt use a single toll in s month of driving around Florida.When we returned the car we asked again about the refund and were told our Toll usage would be checked and we would get an email.Have not received an email or a refund and when I phoned them today I was informed that we dont have to pay anything more as we didnt use any tolls but oh no they dont give refunds.

Avoid renting from here, these car rentals are running scam. Low prices online will be met by extra charges and unfair business practices at location. Avoid them. Rent from real companies instead. Not a happy customer at all, tried to get me for at least $30 / day extra

I was conflicted about renting because of the mix of positive and negative reviews (and the place looked a little sketch from the pics) but I am a REAL customer and they did have very good service. They do offer a free shuttle and they offered to pick up my wife at the airport since she was pregnant. If you have questions about additional fees just ask but we werent charged any except for the tolls which we agreed to. They were flexible with our checkout time as well. Four stars.

They try overcharge you and make you pay for stuff that you dont need and you already got. Unprofessional. Car was in pretty bad accident too, had signs of poor body repair. Beware this rental place.

We were enjoying a weekend on Miami and we use this guys service to rent a car . I will say they are amazing specially Andres who is a very polite and helpful guy

I rented a car with them in March, returned the car back on the 14th of March and still have not received my deposit money $2500, quite a large amount, and the mone where not just blocked on the credit card, the transaction was completed and money came out of my account.I wrot them a message, try to call them but no replay back!!!Be careful that the deposit is not just blocked, is a normal transaction, first time that this had happened to me in 20 years since I rent cars when on holiday!!!!!!!

If I could give zero stars it would be more accurate. Alexandra, should not be a manager! Christina needs a promotion to management. Worst company ever dont work with them they will leave you at the airport with 2 young kids for almost 2 hours.....and when we ask for an upgrade Alexandra simply says no. The customer always comes first!

The worst place I have chose to rent a car, they give you 50 local miles a day but they dont tell you on the website, they discount the money at the moment you put all the info of your credit card and if you cancel they dont give you the money back. They just stole $ 210 from me.

First of all let me just say I’ve read some of these reviews and had some great laughs. I don’t know where these people come up with this stuff. But I had an amazing experience, I can’t remember the ladies name who helped which I feel terrible about but she was so knowledgeable and direct about there polices. Which made me grow confidence that I was renting with the right company, their prices were lower than any of the other big name companies and for the same car they were offering! Great customer service! I left so happy knowing I saved some extra money to enjoy at the parks! Thank you Horspower Car Rental!!

This rental place claimed that we “smoked” in the car when we didn’t . My friend is pregnant so why would we even do that? My advise would be to read the reviews before renting a car here, that’s one thing we regret doing.

Scam artists. Avoid like the plague. They lure you in with a cheap price and then when you arrive to pick up the car, they hit you with loads of extra costs that effectively double the cost of the car. I refused to pay for their activation of the toll road transponder. They said it was OK if I went through the pay tolls but when I got home they had hit me with over $500 of charges for unauthorised use of tolls. I am fighting this with Mastercard Never again

My experience with horsepower car rental was amazing, the customer service was excellent. Also, They took the time to explain in detail everything that entails renting a vehicle; what makes it easier to rent it. They are three minutes from the airport so the service is quite fast! I absolutely recommend them!

Those people are scam because they try to charge my twice on my credit card and she charge 350.00 deposit and thats no right, never again ! they have hidden charges just be careful, also they charge me $ 5.95 for sun pass and$ 34 .00 extra for something else and they dont explain what is it really bad company not recommended at all and I still waiting for my deposit

AVOID!!! AVOID!!! AVOID!!! A lot of hidden costs that you only get to learn at the time of pick up, we ended up paying double for the rental because of that! It has been a month since I rented the car from them and they have not still returned the deposit I paid despite the attached report that car was fine sent on 4 Dec 2019. Their incompetent staff, Sarah credited the refundable deposit to my card instead of just holding the amount. She informed me that the money will be returned in 5 working days and it has been a month! It is UNACCEPTABLE !!! I will never use them again!

I had a great experience no mucking about loved my car which was a Red Jeep took us to key west and back to Orlando no probs clean and very cheap on petrol whole experience was very good would use them again
