Well. I wasn’t going to leave a review but I got a text message from John’s asking me to review my latest experience at Johns Automotive. Let me start by saying they were great on my previous visit but this last one not so much. I took my van in because it was overheating on hot days and especially when the air conditioning was on. They initially told me it would be $150 for the diagnosis. The diagnosis was that it was a bad fan clutch. I approved the repair. They contacted me and said that the repair did not solve the problem and that they were going to investigate further. They came back and said that I needed new head gasket at an estimate of $3000. Couple hours later they called back and said that they thought that I needed to also have the heads refinished at the machine shop and that it would be closer to $5000. That was pretty disheartening considering the van was only purchased a couple months earlier for $3000. I told them I didn’t want to put that kind of money into it. But something didn’t sit well with me so I took it to another shop whose name I will not mention because it’s irrelevant. They diagnosed it as a bad fan clutch and a clogged up radiator both on the outside and partially on the inside. They detected absolutely zero exhaust emissions in the cooling system after testing it repeatedly, so my head gaskets were not bad after all. So at the end of the day my experience at Johns cost me over $400 in diagnostic and labor and I left with the van in the same condition as when I arrived with an apparent faulty diagnosis. My vehicle was fixed elsewhere after it was properly diagnosed and it is running just fine now. So that was my last experience. It was an expensive visit with zero resolution and improper answers. Had I gone through with the recommended repairs I would’ve had a van that had a new head gasket but the problem would not have been fixed and I would’ve been out $5000 plus the cost of a new radiator once they would have figured it out. But I will say that the people there seem to be very kind and I don’t think they were trying to deceive me. I think they just got it wrong this time. I’m leaving a three star on this review. Because they have done well by me in the past.

I had a check engine light for a charging system it turns out the alternator was bad they replaced it and gave me a diagnostic rundown on any other codes that showed up for free. My father is 83 and my mother is 79 the car is what do you use for transportation to get to and from doctors appointments to grocery store and church. Dont trust very many people with my parents but Johns took care of them like they were their own parents. Brendans customer service was outstanding thanks a lot Johns Auto Care.

We had our transmission replaced. The work was top notch. We would highly recommend Johns Auto Center.

I explained the situation, they took the time to hear me out. They made notes and when I dropped my car off the next day, they still had all the information. They did the work in pretty much the way I wanted it done, and in a very good timeframe, too. Positive experience, would go there again.

Had them give me an estimate for an air conditioner repair of my 2012 Hyundai. The cost would be almost the same as the cars value. The did a great job on advicsing me on what to do. I ended up not getting it repair and use 60 4 air conditioning. I would not hesitate to use them again. I highly recommend them.

My brakes are awesome now and noticed the stopping power. They were fast, took me in promptly Amd finished the job promptly. Highly recommended

I am from Oregon and my air conditioning in my vehicle stopped working on my way to Idaho. I called and they were able to get me in the same day!! They were very helpful and accommodating! Plus they communicated with me throughout the process which was great! They got my car fixed the same day and I was able to drive back to Oregon during this record breaking heat wave!!

I have finally found a repair shop I can trust. Great pricing and not in the business to rip you off. My car is older and after the diagnostic was completed we did the work that was necessary and came up with a pen for the rest.

This is my second visit with Johns Auto Care.These people are honest and will take care of you like family. Brennan handled my issues like a true professional. More than fair on the price for the amount of time they spent on my Sprinter. They also adjustedmy headlights and side view mirrors for no extra charge.So what more can I say? Im more than happy with this outfit as finding an honest mechanic these days is a rarity.

Our car broke down right next to their shop so we pushed it into the parking lot and went into the office. We spoke to one of the service advisors/mechanics ( I hope Im spelling your name right ) Brennan, who brought one of the other mechanics out with him to check things out.Due to the work load they already had, they where very busy, we where informed they would not be able to work on it until Monday. Sure enough first thing Monday morning I get a call explaining in detail what needed to be done and we had our car back that same day.I would highly recommend Johns Auto Care staff and services to anyone and everyone in need of fast, friendly, reliable auto repairs!

Charged $140 for diagnostic and a couple hundred in labor for a $35 part. Overpriced completely.They have good customer service, but I won’t bring a vehicle here again due to the outrageous charges.

I went in for my check engine light and they identified a faulty egr valve and replaced it. Then my engine light came back on. They replaced the egr the second time for free and discovered a clog that they fixed for free as well. Im very happy with their service -- I expected them to at least make me pay for another part and the second repair, but they didnt.

Johns Auto service is the best in Idaho!! Friendly staff excellent service wouldnt go anywhere else! They even picked me up to get my car, cant be beat!

Spent over an hour diagnosing my truck, could not get to me for several weeks refferd me to someone who could, filled my truck with oil no charge . Friendly professional trust worthy

I only use Johns Care because they always fix only what needs fixed and are very honest about what does not need repaired or even tell me if there is an easy fix i can do myself. I have never left after a repair and had the problem recurre. I completely trust these guys. The service manager is awesome.

We were visiting from California. The heat was brutal and our truck AC wasnt working it need a recharge. No one could help us as they either were booked 3wks out or didnt have the equipment needed to do it. Till we found these guys.They were booked 3wks out also but these guys were willing to fit us in and get us on our way. They got us in quick and was able to get our AC working quicker than quoted. They were very professional and friendly. Made the wait go by fast. Thank you guys! Yall made our day!

They are very concerned about the customer and explain things before they do the work. They even give you the price so you know what to expect. I would recommend them highly to friends who need repair verses going to the dealership. They are more reasonable in price. Staff very happy and polite.

Kevin greeted us ,the other mechanics were very friendly that we saw in there also. They made us very comfortable. We needed a ride home and they were very busy ,so loaned us a car. We have had them work on our car before. They always check out the whole car and let us know if there is anything else that may need our attentention. Most places we have gone to in the past jut take care of the problem at hand. We are 84 and appreciate the special care for our car.

John’s Auto Care took great care of my vehicle and I will definitely be back in the future and recommending them to people I know. The only recommendation I would make is that if they are running late on their service that they let their customers know. I had an appointment for 10:00, but my car was not taken back until nearly 10:40 for the oil change that it was scheduled for. I did have time to wait that day so it wasn’t a problem, but I do feel it’s always nice to let your customers know if you’re running behind.

Wow! I’m so thankful and happy! John’s Auto Care in Meridian is the most honest and trustworthy place I’ve ever experienced for car repairs. They fixed my 16-year-old Jeep this morning, which died completely and suddenly. I told them I could spend up to $600 to fix it, but they said, “Your car is good to go with just $261 out the door, and it’s already finished! You can come pick it up.” They texted me an easy-to-understand list of minor repairs, flushes, and adjustments that can wait, which we’ll chip away at over the coming months to lengthen the life of my Jeep. They don’t gouge or lie to their customers, they are honest and fair about problems they find, and they don’t persuade you into services you don’t need. Quite the opposite, their aim is to save you money. Plus, my favorite thing is they give you a loaner car to drive around while your car is being repaired. Highly recommend!

I called Johns Auto with a steering issue on my 1998 Chevy S10. They were able to get me in immediately, and were able to not only get the parts and the work done quickly, but they were very professional and straightforward with me on costs and gave me realistic expectations. This place asked for a review after servicing my daughters truck.She did not, she was not happy, the first list was made by the mechanic and they went through it and removed a couple things cause of cost then the rest of the list was to be done, wheel barring was on the list but was not done and she was never given an answer why.Rear brakes were done and yet let me tell you this! We could have been killed, after leaving shop about 4 days later the front wheel snapped off WHEEL BARRING, now we drove through Wyoming mountains on the 80 through a snow storm she felt no brakes, if it wasnt for the exit covered with snow to slow us down this could of turned out bad, could of even been worse if the exit wasnt there.Towed to Burley and in shop we rented uhaul drove up to meridian and went in to speak with this shop.Only answer we got was theres a warranty on brakes, still no response about barring and no empathy on risking our lives. After inspecting rear brakes not only do they not look new or any of the other parts associated with brakes, they completely failed.We originally asked for a full inspection cause my daughter needs to be able to get to jobs safely, this shop failed us completely!The reciept shows what was done and charges, new mechanics say nothing on brakes was ever done.The shop truck is at now says we are so lucky to be alive!!!It was a con job, a scam. I would look else where before coming here,Wish I could post the video of the rear brakes after removing tires.$1187. Just for rear brakes, not even including the other stuff they say they did.Let me repeat,, $ 1187. For rear brakes and we all most could of been killed. Con job- Liar, They appear kind and friendly but I think this person is shady FraudsterTotal spent $2400. Believe me, we.still cant figure out what they did that cost that much. The original inspection with a list and the final list that was with what they say was actually done do not match, OH but the price $2200. from one list to the other stayed the same, infact the cost grew $2400. with added expenses.So quote was actually changed and some things werent doneSo very wrong!I need our expenses covered, overage for tow mile, uhaul and hotel to sit and wait for all this to be fixed correctly.Im sure they will have excuses but this is an Honest Complaint not about only the over charging but the dishonesty and our lives put in jeopardy.UPDATE: MARCH 7TH 2021Just to let potential customers know, the warranty for brakes is only covered by soooo much, so johns covered the balance to the other repair shop,,thats what Ive been told.Asked to speak with owner twice, still no call from him.When we return to meridian, there will be a claim filed against this business.We will hold them responsible for this terrible and costly event.We have received several estimates on the rear brakes and parts and every place is half the price with some even offering better quality partsCan you imagine that a shop you put trust and money to would jeopardize your lives in such a manner? Beware and and dont believe the salesman managersThis will be updated again.Just as I thought, only excuses! No apologies, no compensation for the troubles your poor work cost us, no admission of any wrong doing.Its OK, we have both reciepts, pictures, videos of what happened and what was said about the work you did on her truckPLEASE LOOK ELSE WHERE OR GET A SECOND OPINION BEFORE USING THIS SHOP, YOU NEVER KNOW WHO THEY WILL CHOOSE TO SCAM

Friendly service.However, was quoted a certain amount for an estimate and was taken aback when the total was over $60 more than quoted.Where Im from, the cost of an estimate covers whats needed to diagnose the issue.Cannot say either way if I will return to this company for service.

Because of a check engine light, I was told I needed serious repairs to my f350 superduty by a local Ford dealer. The guys at Johns quickly diagnosed and resolved the check engine light. My 2005 Honda Accord developed an oil leak. I took the car to Johns Auto Care. There were 2 possible causes; they did some testing to verify it was the oil pan gasket; the cheaper of the 2 possible causes. They made the repair and the leak is no more. I appreciated very much their making the repair ONLY to the damaged gasket. It would have been easier to claim that both possible causes needed repair. Instead they tested and verified the cause, isolated it, and made only the needed repair. These guys are good.

John’s doesn’t just do cars, I’ve taken my RV there for routine maintenance and recently my Honda Goldwing. I wouldnt take my vehicles anywhere else. The communication is great, they send an emailed diagnostic of my oil changes with pictures when anything needs attention and theyre very friendly. Top notch.

Took my 2011 Cadillac in for a/c problem. Got a good explanation of the problem. They ordered in a couple of parts, installed them and had my a/c working great! All in less than 2 hours and less than $300.

I have been a customer for many years. I have never been disappointed. Johns Auto!

Requested a tire balance and Alignment. They were unable to complete either, Im okay with the alignment because they claim parts were too loose, better to not say you can do something if you dont think you can, but not getting a tire balance done in a full day on a scheduled visit, they should be embarrassed. Also VERY expensive rates and shady inspection practices look at your fluids yourself before changing on their recommendation. Mine are all fine and they wanted to change most of them. A Certified Technician found 8,000 mile coolant and PS fluid to look dirty the bottles are dirty but the fuilds are fine. They were also able to claim the ball joints were a problem and say the CV joints are fine, when I know that one of them is almost bad and has covered its axle in grease, not a good or trustworthy inspection.

After calling twice to get a cost on a repair for my car and being promised that theyd call me back, I never heard from them. Then after talking to my dad, he said to not go here, its not a good shop, mentioned some examples of what happened to my brother and a few neighbors here and I felt relieved it hadnt gone any further.

John’s was quick to get us in for an estimate and saved us a large amount of money from previous estimates. Car was fixed same day and we were on our way.

I ran over a shredded retread on the freeway my bumper and a couple of other parts came loose and were dragging. The gentleman inside came out and took them off for me zip tied one part back up and made sure it was safe for me to continue driving

I had the pleasure of experiencing the amazing customer service at Johns Auto Care today and I wasnt even their customer! My mom needed some work done on her car and I could not believe how ready and on top of it they were when we arrived. They even walked her back to my car and opened the door for her! It was impressive. She had a time crunch to adhere to and they made sure her car was done and ready in that time frame. The cost was so affordable and there was absolutely no waiting of any kind in their lobby! (as a matter of fact, an employee was waiting while they took are of us first) They were friendly, accommodating and just plain pleasant on every level. THANK YOU!

Charged my grandma $2,700 for spark plugs, coil packs, gasket and a battery clean with $700 in labor. 33 dollar per spark plug and $240 per coil pack. Sent the invoice over to a few other places and they asked if this was seriously something she paid for. Left a message and havent received a call back. 15 year old car with 34k in miles.

I had my A/C recharged. They were fast and friendly.

Johns auto care is the best shop ive found in the 12yrs. I have lived here in Meridian. They have also serviced my wifes car. They were work was excellent, and their attitudes were even better.

Here’s the deal, you know a group is good when you’re in a difficult situation and they treat you well. We were stranded in Meridian and thought for sure they bring us to the cleaners. Not only did they provide professional service they were also very very professional and really affordable. We would recommend them for anybody looking for service in the area. Todd was wonderful. I would certainly have him work on my truck again. Nothing like a guy with 30 years experience that has seen it all. You guys are great.

I had the best experience with Johns Auto care and they have my business and family as new customers. Here is what happened. I bought a truck that the seller had work done at Johns 4 months earlier. The day after I bought it the truck broke down.......bummer. I had it towed to Johns because I knew from the paperwork that that is who had worked on it at the past and I wanted someone with a full history to work on it. They said that it was a part that they had replaced a few months back that had a failure. It was an electrical short. They taped it up real good in the meantime and ordered the replacement part and will call me when it arrives. They informed me that there will be no charge. Wow, so cool. Here is what impresses me as a fellow business owner. I never would have known that it was a part that was replaced because it was a small thing not listed on my paperwork, but it WAS in their notes. Integrity is doing the right thing when no one is looking. They did. Thank you Johns Auto Care. Atlantis Pool & Spa has a new vendor.

Our experience at Johns Auto was simply the best. We were in the middle of a cross country trip and in need of a smart, accurate and quick (and reasonable) diagnosis of our vehicles trouble. Kevin at Johns Auto Care was incredibly professional, kind, and so helpful. Their space (including their restrooms!) was really clean and inviting. They let us keep our travel trailer which we were hauling, in their lot for several days as we figured out our best options for moving forward with our trip. We cant say enough out about Kevins great customer service, the smart and helpful technicians and their quick and accommodating business style. We are incredibly grateful that we worked with Johns Auto and Kevin was so kind and accommodating.

Great place!!! Had to get a full synthetic oil change and they did an amazing job! Lobby was clean and the chairs were comfy. It was nice of them to have water bottles and coffee to share with customers! Office staff was very friendly and easy to talk to as I wated for my car. I also needed a part fixed and they gave me a quote for it and it was a way better deal then the last quote I got at the previous place. They ordered the part and it was fixed the next day!!! I will for sure be coming here again ☺

Ive been coming to Johns for a little over a year now, and have always left satisfied with the work done, but today I left very disappointed, not because of anything directed at me, but something involving another customer. I was waiting for my oil change to be complete as an older woman was paying for the work they had done for her. The guy behind the counter had recommended that her struts be replaced because they were toast, and quoted her a price; she thanked him numerous times for all the great work they do and left. What happened after that left me extremely frustrated; I overheard the man that helped her talking with his coworker I presume, whispering(and chuckling) about how her cars manufacturer has a lifetime warranty on struts then saying...and from what Ive researched that is true, therefore it seems hes fine with knowingly charging someone hundreds of dollars for a service that is completely free through a dealership if the customer doesnt know any better. Needless to say I will not be returning for further services, unfortunately.

Before taking my vehicle to Johns, I read most of the reviews, especially the One Star reviews. I found that the One Star folks seemed to have really old cars, and the owners expected a whole lot for zero cost, plus most of them refused to list their names. This type of social media nonsense really ticks me off, so I decided to let Johns take a look at my minor problem (minor in my eyes at that moment). The shop was clean and the mechanics and front desk folks seemed very professional. My AC had been slowly getting warmer and finally quit at the start of the two week triple digit heat wave. Knowing that the AC tech would be probably overwhelmed during the first week of summer I was pleasantly surprised that Johns was able to repair it in less than one day. My problem was a leaking transmission cooler that had clogged my AC condenser and overheated the whole dang system. This is a 10 year old system that had NEVER been checked (my problem and stupidity, not theirs) and the whole AC system including the Compressor needed to be replaced. I am very mechanically minded and truly believe and understand why these repairs were needed. My original $176 AC service ended up being $2500 in repairs, but they were needed and done professionally and at a good price. I would recommend Johns to anyone at this time, and I will be getting AC serviced at least every two years from now on. My Bad, cost me, but at the vehicles age, it was expected. In Dog years, my Ram 3500 is almost as old as I am and I get a check up every so often, so why not the Ram.

I am a DIY-drive it into the ground type, and many shops are right to prefer more needy customers than me.....Johns doesnt flinch when I describe my problem and that I work on my own vehicles. I always get a straight forward quote when I need a little expertise to help direct my own wrenching. After guessing & replacing a few seals & gaskets on my 99 Toyota, Johns used a minimally invasive and efficient process to locate my leak, and greatly accelerate my own repair process. This time Im taking a recently purchased chore-truck clear across ADA county to Johns because I feel confident I will get an honest assessment of my vehicle, before I begin taking it apart in my back yard-I dont want to miss an important step. I find Johns service to be very fairly priced, when I consider my time spent wrenching in inclement weather or what I would need to fork over for a climate controlled shop of my own. There is no replacement for quality while troubleshooting-Thank You Johns Auto Care.

Extremely professional garage with certified mechanics and a trustworthy vibe. Not the cheapest, but appropriately priced and they stand behind their work. Their $99 diagnostic is worth every penny if you have an older vehicle with issues; they will get it back in shape!

I cannot say enough about the great customer service. I was visiting from out of town and had battery trouble. I was out and about with my 9 month old grandson sleeping in the back. I rolled up to the door, they came out and changed out my battery, paid for it and back on the road in less than 30 minutes with a still sleeping grandson. Amazing, caring service.

I have lived in Meridian for 5 years and when I moved here I was concerned about finding a auto repair shop that I could trust. Being a woman, ignorant about cars, I have always worried about getting taken advantage of. They have worked on my older used car several times over the years and have always been above-board and ethical about everything. Once there was a question about a part failing and they covered it no question. I have found their prices are comparable in the market. They even provided me with a loaner at no cost to me so I wouldnt miss work. These guys are the best. I highly recommend them. AND they have the cleanest, most awesome bathroom in any auto shop I have ever seen! They should put a picture of it on the website!

These were the nicest guys. When I told them the issues I was having, they let me know this was a known issue for my vehicle and provided me with resources and information. They could have easily charged me for a full diagnosis but they did not. They test drove my vehicle and confirmed the issue and also made me aware of some other issues I was having. Knowing that this is a common issue for my vehicle, I can go to Ford and fight to have them correct it. I really respect the fact that they were honest about that knowing it would result in me not paying for the repair with them. They were knowledgeable and trustworthy and I will go back there for services as needed.

Solid work. Seemed to charge a bit more than Id have expected from other locations, but theyre thorough and have solid warranties. So its six of one half dozen of another. If you want your car treated right, this place is a solid choice. I happen to have been on a budget at the time I went in, so it put the squeeze on me, but a few months from now Ill probably be glad I got the thorough service.
