Killed my first deer with a bow and first deer in Kentucky yesterday evening ! I just moved to this area 6 months ago from Louisiana so I was looking for a good processor. Someone recommended Dowdy’s Taxidermy and processing. I was very impressed with these guys! I called them around 8pm to let them know I was tracking one. They said take my time and they will be there when I got there. I made it to them around 9:40pm. The owner is a very friendly guy who took me on a tour of there processing and taxidermy facilities. As I was a new customer they gave me a free jalapeño cheese summer sausage to sample. I couldn’t have been more impressed with these folks. If you’re looking for a great processor in or around Graves County you won’t be disappointed! By the way the summer sausage is fantastic!

Because of the pandemic I waited a long time to get my bobcat mount back but I would have waited twice as long! Shawn did an absolutely awesome job! This is why I always recommend him when anyone asks where they should take their animals for mounting. I cannot say enough good things about him and his company!

Ive never written a negative review, and Im not writing this to be spiteful or malicious but...While Shawn is a nice and helpful guy, the services I received at Dowdys Processing and Taxidermy left a lot to be desired. I took a buck in to be cleaned, quartered, and de-boned. I also ordered just a few packages of sausage and a Euro mount.The meat I received was basically hacked off the bone with no attempt to keep the muscle groups/roasts intact like I specifically ordered. Im not a professional, but Ive cleaned several deer and I know that its not difficult to cut out the individual cuts of meat (specially the hind quarter roasts) like I specifically asked. The majority of the meat I received was so chopped up that most of it had to be cut into smaller chunks for stew meat or ground up; no nice roasts like I cut out when I do it myself. Very disappointed.When I received the Euro mount and the sausages that were shipped to me, I was again very disappointed. The sausages were barely cool, no dry ice, or cold packs were in the styrofoam cooler with the sausages. I dont think the sausages were ruined, but they werent exactly cold. The sausages they sent me were also the wrong ones. I hate (absolutely hate) spicy food and I would never order Cajun sausage, but I received two packages of Cajun sausage. When I say I HATE spicy food, Im not kidding; Id have to be on some strong drugs to order anything spicy and I dont do drugs.Now... the skull mount... When I pulled the skull mount out of the box, I immediately noticed the bad odor. The skull still had pieces of tissue stuck to the bone and the smell was horrible. I had to immediately take it outside to avoid stinking up my house. Shawn told me that it just needed to dry, to just let it air-out, but with tissue still on the bone, no amount of airing-out would solve the problem. The skull mount is now at a local taxidermists shop; hopefully it can be fixed/finished correctly like it should have been done from the beginning. Again, very disappointed.In conclusion, Dowdys struck out with me. None of their services were performed to a satisfactory level.Shawn, I want to state again that I didnt write this to be spiteful or malicious, but Im completely dissatisfied with the services your shop provided. I hope that you take this in a constructive way and use my long winded review to improve the services you provide.Pete

Great meat processing and taxidermist. We have had 2 deer mounted here and 2 more are in the process from this season. We have had deer, hogs, and steers processed here. They process and donate deer meat to Hunters for the Hungry as well.

I had to find a Kentucky taxidermist due to carcass restrictions in Tennessee, and I am glad I found Dowdy. He did a great job on my mount and was very easy to work with. He worked with my schedule to combine a scouting trip and my pick up. I hope to take another one to him this fall and I would definitely recommend this business.

Without getting into all the details of this terrible experience. Im just going to say poor businessman with poor business practices. Save yourself the trouble and go elsewhere.

First time user. Dropped a bow doe off. He offered some snack sticks as samples. Excellent! Anxious to try is summer sausage and salami.

Does great work and they take pride in there work. Ill will definitely go back next time i need a mount .
