Pat Olson from Select Realty is absolutely fantastic! Not only is she a great realtor, but shes also a great person. We could not have asked for a better home-buying experience. My husband and I began our search for our first home in the Marquette area after accepting jobs at Northern Michigan University. We are a young couple with a baby on the way and we had no idea where to start the process of buying a home – particularly in the current seller’s market and while living 16 hours away in Baltimore, MD. We felt overwhelmed and undereducated about how to tackle the process – that is, until we found Pat! Pat walked us through the entire home-buying process. She spent time really educating us and helping us make choices that were in the best interest of our family. We can’t emphasize enough how much she helped find the best FIT for us. I SPEND A GREAT DEAL OF TIME, MONEY AND ENERGY INSPECTING THE PARCEL AND DECIDING TO SUBMIT AN OFFER. CLEARLY, THIS REALTOR DID NOT HAVE A REAL SELLER OR CONTROL OF THE SELLER TO CLOSE A DEAL. MINE WAS A CASH OFFER FOR THE ASKING PRICE TO CLOSE IN 30 DAYS. SOMETHING VERY FISHY HERE. ATTORNEY AT LAW OFFEROR.

Beautiful grass (mowed) trails. A bit too wet to walk in a few stops, and it hasnt rained a whole lot. We had to turn around several times because it was too wet and muddy to pass thru.Really nice playground, will have to bring my grandson!Bring bug spray.

Lee and Carrie have done a great job showing us properties and keeping us well informed as buyers. Communication has been fantastic and they have spent a lot of time making sure we had all of the information and could make an informed decision. They have always had our best interest in mind and provided prompt answers to our many questions. Carrie happily took us for a second look at a property at the end of a busy day without hesitation. She has also helped us sell a property and we were very happy with her services. Our home sold quickly. I would highly recommend Select Realty as a buyer and a seller.

Buyer Beware! Betty does not have your best interest in mind! Think twice before dialing that number on her sign.I made an offer to buy a piece of property that is adjacent to my current house. I told her a specific number to offer the seller. She made the offer a few thousand dollars higher than I wanted. The buyer accepted the higher offer. I then have to meet in the middle of an offer I never wanted to make. Dont know if this was intentional or not. More on that later.I looked at this piece of property and simple camp last fall. All was good. I wanted to do a walk-through of the property to make sure it was still in the same condition. It was not. There were now major structural issues with the camp because they did not shovel the roof this past winter. The rafters had cracked. I asked her to go back to the seller to make a concession to fix this issue. She refused saying that it would, negatively effect her commission. She then became irate saying that she, did not even have to let me in to see it in the first place.I ended up purchasing the property because it is next to mine an I did not want anyone else to purchase it. After the accepted offer was finally nailed down, all I got was text messages from her. She did not even have the professional courtesy to make a phone call.Come to find out, she was personal friends with the sell and she defiantly did not have my best interests in mind.

Definitely would not recommend to anyone. The service is all over the place and there is no organization what so ever. It is nice they provide plowing at some places, but the inconsistency is hard to plan around as sometimes they come before the given time or sometimes after when I already assumed they had came to plow. Also, prices are substantially high compared to other rentals in the area and we aren’t getting anything special.On another note, they threaten to tow vehicles that aren’t registered to the place even if they are friends or family staying for a few hours and I think that with the price we pay a month we should be able to have guests over at our liking and have them be able to park off the street, especially in the winter. What harm is that we pay to live there! My dad got a ticket and warning parking there overnight while he was helping me move in last spring! That is ridiculous in my opinion.Overall, we have not been pleased at all the last 8 months as we feel we are being babysat and watched 24/7 over what we do in our own home. I’m a grown adult and I don’t need someone watching over what I do and threatening me over stuff that should not affect them. I am mostly annoyed about the towing of cars as it shouldn’t not be a big deal if someone parks overnight on the property if they are guests visiting. Do not recommend at all!!

I have been renting from Select Realty for the past two year now. Both of the places I have lived in have been wonderful for me. The house was affordable, clean, quality care, and close to campus. When looking for places to rent the people at Select Realty were helpful and attentive in helping you find what you were looking for. The staff is friendly and they work to make sure your apartment/house is always safe. Overall I have never had a problem with Select Realty and would recommend it to anyone looking to find a place to rent.

Adam Karki was negligent and mis-represented the property that I purchased, telling me that property which ended up belonging to my neighbor was mine. Adam would benefit from taking some classes on anger management and professionalism. It got so bad towards the end that he wasn’t even allowed to be on my property to finalize the terms of purchase. One of Adam’s brokers had to become involved. Avoid him (and frankly Select Realty who I now have to deal with legal proceedings regarding the mis-representation of the the property) at all costs!

Great company

College students beware! This is the most unprofessional company I have ever been involved with. Lee Haynes is a very disrespectful man who appears to enjoy intimidating young college students and taking financial advantage of any parents who are helping their children as a co-signors. The money offered for the positive reviews on this site is factual and unfortunately, legal. We had a housekeeping staff clean a rental apartment that was occupied for 2 months, as we had been given a heads up from a previous tenant and existing neighbors as to what we were dealing with. Sadly, we had to pay dearly as they charged over $2400 in fees. The deposit ($1300.00) was forfeited (knowingly) plus an additional $700 of which we are still unsure, along with another $705 in cleaning fees (after the cleaning service.) We have documentation from Select stating they had to paint a 1x1 square inch as well as remove a piece of double stick tape in 2 areas. In all fairness, they mentioned window tracks and a dining room globe as well, but for an unused window and dining room, I would have hoped Select Realty had cleaned it prior to move in, but we didnt check, and keeping in mind our children were only here a few months. I regret not researching the area more, as we are not from Marquette. There are several wonderful rental companies to work with in Marquette. As we share our experience with others, we find a common knowledge of this company. My only regret is that we paid all requested fees and did not hire legal representation and should have taken move in/move out photos.

Select Realty has been one of the best apartments i have ever rented. It was super clean and everything works perfectly. This place even has a dishwasher! I have a great view of the city and it is super close to my place of work, I dont even have to drive. I havent had any problems that required a maintenance call so the building is in great condition. Even warm in the winter, this is really a great place to live. They even provided us a great rate for college students, super affordable. I highly recommend renting from this company if you are attending college.

While our experience with Select Realty as first time home buyers was exceptional, renting from them was a bit different. The fact that management is bribing tenants with a $500 cash giveaway to write a review of 4 starts or better should say all you need to know about their rental management team. Real estate buying on the other hand was wonderful. Sean and Julie were incredible to work with. They listened to our wants and needs, showed us many properties within our budget, worked around our busy schedules, and went above and beyond meeting with us on a Sunday morning to make sure our offer was received before the sellers made a counter offer, taking ours into consideration. Thanks to Sean and Julies incredible dedication and professionalism we were able to buy our dream home!!

Lee Haynes and Carrie Harvala were extremely helpful when it came to finding a home. I looked at multiple locations before I finally found the right one. They would drop everything they were doing to show me a house, day or night. They best part is that they pointed out the positives and negatives of each location. They knew what I was looking for and really helped point me in the right direction. I hope I dont have to move for a while, but if I do I know who I will be going back to. Thanks guys!

I havent had a problem with them thus far. Ive rented two other places in Marquette under different management, and so far our apartment with Select Realty is cleanest, safest one. And as college students, me and my roommates have only ever had respectful, helpful interactions with them. Im happy to say for the first time we have resigned for an apartment, because it was nice, spacious, and just what we needed.

Awesome advocate...for the sellers. It would be nice if they remember it wasnt the seller who hired them, but the buyer. Refused to disclose information about who would be doing work on the house, repeatedly gave wrong dates and times for inspections, had my husband keep taking days off from work for a closing they already knew would not occur. Beth started off great, but once we signed a contract with her, she could care less about us. We have dealt with numerous agents from various realties, and though she wasnt the worst, it was a close one.Still waiting to sign and we started this process in Aug. Its now Oct. Avoid this realty, unless you want to waste money and time. I had to request, repeatedly, for copies of documents we signed and threaten small claims court before required repairs and paperwork was done. Beth is now saying we need to take MORE days off, because its convenient for the sellers, despite her supposedly being OUR agent. Glad you take care of everyone else, Beth! By refusing to tell us the name of the contracting company who fixed the shower (which took over 2 months to finally get someone to fix it) if it leaks again, we cannot contact them to have it re-done, despite a contract that states ONLY THOSE contractors can re-do it. The leaking shower was not disclosed and Beth stood up for the sellers and THEIR best interest, not ours.Received a text and an email from Select Realty trying to guilt-trip me and demanding I take my review down. One from Beth and one from Andi, her boss, since their feelings are hurt. I dont do guilt-trips. They dont do professionalism.

Honestly the worst experience renting. I would never rent from them.they are over priced and have many hidden fees. Are tarrible at communicating with there renters and will penny pen dime. I would highly recommend not renting with them

Living with select is awesome. Maintenance is dealt with quickly and in a minimally invasive manor. All appliances, windows and floors are in top shape. Their interface is incredibly easy to deal with and the office is very helpful if difficulties arise. Bree was super thorough in helping us find a well fitting property, and Lee has remained an incredibly kind, helpful and straightforward landlord. Select has zero tolerance for bullshit, which is where I see a lot of people in the area have issues, but I really think thats what makes their properties so nice, and their interactions with you much more personal. Everyone at select has always treated me with respect and I would recommend living on one of their properties to anyone considering it.

I was intimidated by Lee at first, but he turned out to be very fair, straightforward, and easy to contact. It was my first time renting from Select, and I would definitely recommend them for their professionalism, punctuality, and quick response time to maintenance requests. I lived in that apartment for almost 7 years, and when SRPM took over for a different company several years ago, things definitely improved in my building. Dont believe every negative comment you may see--each person has their own perception. I would recommend them over 2 other local companies that I have rented from since 2004.

Having just moved in to this apartment, I am pleased with how things have gone so far. The staff has been honest and easy to understand so that the moving process was a piece of cake. My new place is clean and comfortable and I am so far very happy here.

One star because negative stars werent an option. Our experience was nothing short of a nightmare. To Select Realty-Yes I am aware you dont want the negative reviews. However, you need to be aware that as long as you allow a predator like Lee to operate under your name you will continue to get negative reviews. The rental contract is possibly the most ridiculous contract I have ever seen in over 20 years of rental experience. However, as ridiculous as it is, it is the man behind it that makes renting through Select Realty a nightmare. He is arrogant, rude and belittling. He is predatory in dealing with perspective tenants. He uses intimidation to get you to sign and glosses over the most absurd aspects of the rental agreement. As the other reviewer said, I would rather live in a dumpster than rent with Select. If you like being controlled and threatened go ahead and ignore all the negative reviews. We were ideal tenants and it still was a nightmare.

I had a great experience with Select Reality and their agents this past year while renting with them. Everyone was very friendly and professional and did their very best to help me, from finding a place to live, to moving in, and even the transition moving out. Any 4 or 5 star review here is posted because their reviews were terrible and Select Realty emailed tenants asking for 4/5 star reviews for a chance to be entered to win $500. (Which Im sure they never gave away) Their reviews were terrible for a reason. If they have to bribe for stars, its common sense. Upon move in they promised us new flooring as the carpet was disgusting - we didnt see that until many many emails and over a year later. Our stove handle was missing and a metal piece hung off which was dangerous to our young daughter - it took months and months to be replaced. They wont let you hang your own curtains, so when you ask maintenance - its a $50 installation fee and they dont return the rod to you??? The rules they place on adults are ridiculous, their plowing schedule isnt followed consistent with what they say it will be. And if you leave your car for 24 hours they will plow it in so you have to dig it out. They dont allow pets yet there is pets in the windows and people letting dogs out in our building? They wont email you back about important things, but will email you to move your car to plow. Management is terrible. Its a shame they own 95% of the rentals in Marquette.

Select has to be one of the best landlords Ive ever had. My previous buildings have had either really low ceilings, mold, or some other problems that have caused damage to my personal property in some way. With Select I have a beautiful apartment, reasonable rent, and whenever Ive had complaints or an issue with something (my toilet was having problems) within a day or two the maintenance crew is there fixing the problem. They are also very quick with keeping parking lots cleaned up from heavy snowfall!If you need to get an apartment you should look at Select Realty first, Ive only ever had mold and damp apartments from renting from Curran.

I have rented from Select for the last 8 months and have no complaints. Great property and home. No problems while signing the first and second time. Understanding landlord who works with my roommates and I in a timely manor.

I would rather sleep in a dumpster for the rest of my life than rent through Select again. Easily the least professional company I have ever worked with, in any capacity. Literally if you have any other option, take it. They are predatory and awful. I would wager that their positive reviews come from an email they sent to their tenants earlier this year exchanging the chance to win $500 for a positive review. I will wake up happy every day the rest of my life knowing I wont have to interact with them, or their property manager Lee ever again.

I have rented from Lee for the last three years now and I think he is a great landlord. We had our washing machine break and a pipe leak and he was there within minutes to help us and fix the problem. Select has a lot of houses to choose from to and all are reasonably priced. Select also lets you view a bunch of different houses when you are looking to rent and are very helpful when you are trying to make a decision on what house will be the best affordable which gives you a lot of options. I would recommend them to anyone! Another thing is the houses are really nice and clean.

I had a problem with Select at first because of a charge issue when I moved out. However, upon speaking with and working with Lee, he was very helpful in helping me get my money back! If youre good tenants, theyll be good to you. Also, they keep up the property with shoveling and yard care.

For the past six months, Ive received outstanding management service from Lee and Bree. Theyve exceeded my expectations in always answering my requests promptly and successfully. Lee has investigated other tenants complaints regarding violations of their leases, and acted immediately to serve those who honor their leases. Theyre doing a remarkable job in a challenging position.

I cant say enough great things about Andi Goriesky and the Select Realty team! Andi patiently showed us dozens of homes over the last few years until we found our dream home. Scratch that, until SHE found our dream home for us! When it came time to sell our property after closing on the one, the entire Select team worked to get it sold. Andi was able to get the deal done for us for more than we anticipated. She even washed floors for me before a showing when I couldnt do it myself.

SRPM is a fantastic company to rent from. They always get back to be quickly on maintenance requests, they keep my apartment in top condition, they reasonably give me a discount because my walls are in need of a paint job. Great people and a great landlord.

Overall good place to rent from. They are trustworthy and respond quickly to maintenance requests. They genuinely cares about keeping properties in good shape and about keeping their tenants in the loop with just about everything.

Most of these 4 to 5 star reviews were made because Select Realty sent an email to tenants to rate them with 4 stars or better for a chance to win $500.00. They had HORRIBLE reviews because of their terrible management. I had a terrible experience with the company and I honestly believe Lee Hanes takes pleasure in tormenting college students. Ive rented from 4 different locations in Marquette and this company was the worst. They do not care about students or tenants for that matter. If something goes wrong and needs fixing we are blamed even if it was out of our control. They also do surprise visits to check up on the location even though the lease said we would get 48 hrs notice. If they find out guests are staying over, management goes ballistic even though we are renting the location and can have guests stay the night if we want. Im surprised how many people are selling out and actually giving a high review for the chance of winning money instead of giving their honest opinion. The fact that the company had to do this in order for them to get better ratings should tell you how bad they are. Im telling all my friends and past roommates who have rented from them to review this company honestly.

Overall a really bad experience. Our rental house hasn’t been painted our touched up in years. Holes in the walls and paint chips from lack of care. Upon signing our lease with Lee he was very immature and revolting with us making sexual jokes and references which came off as very unprofessional. It seems like all the company cares about is finding reasons they can charge you so they can go on their as Lee says “cruise with all they money they get from rental fines”. HOW ABOUT FIXING HOLES IN THE WALLS AND TILES CAVING IN FROM THE CEILING BEFORE TAKING A CRUISE? Surprised how unprofessional and uncaring a larger rental company was with the amount of locations that they have. I hope the actual home owners realize what kind of people they are working with.

The building Im in is very secure and is updated and perfect for me and my boyfriend! I would strongly recommend going through select reality for all your housing needs! First experience renting an apartment. Everything has been well so far, clean, quiet for the most part, and fairly cheap. Footsteps by the folks above are loud and the company does not return phone calls after leaving messages.

This is coming from a long time renter of Select Reality, never have I had any problems getting things accomplished. They have signage posted in building that pertains to plowing so that the parking lot is cleaned up and I am sure this is not a easy feat with so many renters on different schedules. Laundry room is clean, have had a few issues with either the washer or dryer, sent a message and taken care of immediately. Money returned and all. Needed to have a light above sink area, asked if it was Ok to do myself. No need, was put on the schedule and all bright now. Apartment building is quiet for those of us who work a early morning shift. When ever seeing any of the people associated with the building very friendly. Move in was a breeze. Annual lease signing is taken care of it a very timely manner. Send a email as to what works best for me and no problem making a appt. to get it all taken care of. I am sure as with anything else in this world there are problems but communication is the best way to have anything taken care of. If you are looking for a comfortable, roomy, convenient place to rent, check them out.

I guess the name changed to Marquette reality but either way these people are extremely disorganized and will attempt to get any amount of money they possibly can out of college students. DO NOT RENT FROM THEM. for a response to the owner, I rented through yall and you totally screwed me lol I know many who got totally screwed by you. Yall litteraly steal money from college students, again a complete joke of a company and the things you do should be illegal.

Im only putting this because they are bribing me for a cash prize. Hint Hint, they are the worst rental management company EVER!!!! Easily the worst people I have ever rented from. Select Reality charged us for everything and anything they could find after we moved out, (taking out just about half of our $3000 security deposit), even after 36 hours of straight cleaning on our part and an inspection where we complied to all their requests. In the end, what they took out were essentially made-up damages including a 700 dollar pet odor charge (it is beyond me how pet odor could cost 700 dollars especially since not even one person, including select agents, ever noticed a smell as they went through our house). They have no respect for their tenants, being very overtly rude and uncaring (as an example, during the inspection the agent was one whole hour late (which made me miss work), never even apologized to us, and then took a phone call once they got to our house (completely unprofessional and blatantly disrespectful to their tenants time). They charge way too much (a 35 dollar a month pet fee, 2,000 a month for just a 4 bedroom house (not covering any utilities) where the attic, basement, and garage are locked from tenants?!) and are clearly up to some sketchy business (even sending out emails that ask their tenants to rate them with 4 or more stars to win money?!). Essentially, Select Reality is a slumlord company preying on college students who have no other choice. If you are looking to rent, please look elsewhere. Spread the word.

I have been renting from Select (Lee at Birchwood Suites) for three years now. When first starting the process to rent, Lee was very helpful. He showed us a couple different apartments and allowed us to pick which apartment would fit us best. He walked us through all the steps to sign and made it so much less stressful than I thought it would be!What I love about the building I live in is how quite it is. Living there for three years I have never had to call in a noise complaint. The building does have quite a few college students, but there are also families who live there. Everyone is super friendly!Making a maintenance request is very simple. It is all done online and within 24 hours (most of the time less) someone will be there to fix the problem. I only had one issues and that was because of how much melting ice we had that year, it was handled well. Lee is also super helpful if you have issues with keys. The lease does say the first time you have an issue with a key its free and then after that there is fee. But, I forgot my mail key back home and he let me borrow one for the couple weeks I needed it (Thanks Lee!). Rent paid online, which is great because it saves a trip to the office and I know I wont ever forget to pay.The main reason I stayed here for so long is first the quality of the place. Its huge! With two separate bed/bathrooms my roommate and I were able to have our own personal space. Its also very convenient that cable/internet are included in the rent, making this place very affordable. The only thing a tenant pays for is electric, which we havent paid over $40.One suggestion I have for this place would be for the parking situation. There is ZERO guest parking (unless you call ahead and get a pass for the time). As a college student group projects are always coming up so to not have a little space for people to park for a couple of hours is irritating. I did have an issue with parking when I came home from the weekend at about 11 PM there were NO SPOTS for me because of people having guests. I waited a half hour for someone to leave. If they could create a guest parking lot to the right of the building it would be amazing!I will definitely miss this apartment now that Im leaving!

If I could leave a 0 star review, I would. My boyfriend and I rented at Birchwood Suites for a year, so I can’t say for certain what the quality of other properties is. However, I urge you to consider anyone else but Select. Lee Haynes was very intimidating when we signed our lease, which made us think Select would be a very professional place to live. It took a month to get us our parking pass, and since we were told we’d be towed without it, that month was full of fear that my car would be gone the next time we had to leave. Our internet was included in the rent, but the modem we should have gotten from Charter was missing, and it took another 3 months or so to get it back. Since we had no internet, we were paying for nothing.Winter was the worst. We got text alerts for plowing the parking lot, but never at the same time of day. Some days they’d plow at 9 am, other days they wouldn’t plow until 4 or 5 pm. In February (2017) Select sent out an email promising entry into a drawing of $500 if residents posted 4 star reviews online, so don’t trust any reviews at 4 stars or higher. I don’t even think they followed through with the drawing, as winners were never announced. Worst of all, later in February, Lee Haynes backed his truck into my car as I was coming into the parking lot. He told me he didn’t see me. He told the cops that I barreled into the lot and he didn’t have time to stop. When I tried asking Select about how to email Lee concerning insurance and quotes from the car shop, I was met with hostility. So now I’m out $600 for a new door because Lee lied to the police when he crushed my door in. They never even apologized to me.Please consider anyone but Select Realty Property Management. They lure in students with nice looking apartments, but they don’t really care about their tenants. There are plenty of other apartments in Marquette that will treat you better.

Select Realty helped me find my first appartment. It only took them a day, to help me find the right apartment for me. Also Lee and Bre were willingly to stay after hours to go through my lease with me. They were both very professional, and are bothe easy to get a hold of. I would recommend to anyone, to find an apartment through Select Realty!-David Harris

As a BUYER ready to sign a purchase agreement, I found it HIGHLY UNPROFESSIONAL for the agent with Select Reality to send me a TEXT at 8:30pm the night before a CONFIRMED appointment wishing to change the meeting time to accommodate His OIL CHANGE. Very poor decision that cost this company a sale.

Select reality is an easy company to rent for. They are easy to work with and have great houses!

Select Realty has been a very poor rental management company. Despite numerous warnings about the potential ramifications of damage to the house due to maintenance costs, the condition of the house upon our entering it made it evident that even if such fees were collected from previous tenants, they were rarely put toward such maintenance. Furthermore, the level of restriction that select places upon its tenants is unnecessary and one-sided, allowing a vast number of liberties to Select and hamstringing the rights of the renter. The single star that I am giving select is to be considered only for Selects maintenance crew, because despite the sketchy nature of the remainder of the deal, when something was legitimately wrong with a crucial element of the house (plumbing, etc.) the maintenance crew was prompt, friendly, and helpful. This being said, I am reasonably certain that those contractors were exactly that- contractors independent of Select, so all that can really be said is that Select does a good job of making phone calls every now and again. However, this does not excuse the company as a whole. Furthermore, I think that it is held self-evident that any company that needs to offer a cash prize drawing for any renter who leaves a four or five star review as a company which does not deserve to survive.

While stern in their approach is exactly as it should be when it needs to be. The quality of their properties is above average for the Marquette area, and the price is on par with what you get. I wish i could stay here longer.

It works, dont have to associate with management often so that is good. Pay your bills and live on.

The apartment we live in is super nice and the rent is pretty good too!

Criminals. Avoid at all costs.

Bre rocks. Maintenance calls get handled fast and efficiently.

The property manager traumatized a friend. His behavior is beyond excuse for any professional. I would not wish this experience on anyone.

Lee was hands down the worst professional person Ive ever had the displeasure of meeting. Screamed like he was a child being told no. Complete lack of human interaction skills throughout the whole place, might have been the worst agent in Marquette.

If you dont mind being treated like a piece of dirt, then Select Realty is for you!

Terrible company with no common courtesy or decency. Avoid at all costs.
