Crew was professional and did just as they had stated. I was told I wouldnt be able to tell they were even at our place trimming the trees because they clean everything up so well - they werent kidding. They trimmed some very large trees in our yard that were way overdue for a trim and they did fantastic work - took care of all debris on the ground and even used a blower on the driveway to clean off any debris from when they were laying the branches down getting them ready to go into the chipper. It was so much fun to work with Heartwood. We bought our house in October and we wanted to remove invasive species and plant native trees. Brent came and gave great advice and suggestions for what to plant and where. We removed the invasive trees and shrubs, and then Heartwood ground the stumps, pruned and cabled existing trees for health, removed a giant dying Spruce, and planted ten new trees. It was such a fun process and Brent and his crew were great. I love that they don’t use heavy machinery and they climb the trees to get the work done.

The Heartwood crew did a great job taking down the tree while having to avoid fencing, other trees/shrubs, a garage and dog kennel! They also cleaned the area up very nicely once the job was completed with no damage to the lawn from hauling the wood out. I highly recommend them.

The last company I worked with required me to sign/scan/email them approval. No one has time for that and their trimming was far less thorough.

The guys at Heartwood came out in the fall to take a look at the trees, then returned in the winter, when everything was dormant, to perform the trimming without risk of the tree becoming infected. They cleaned up well after themselves and took the time to explain some of what they were doing [pruning some competing branches to inhibit growth and establish a strong leader, etc].My toddler also thoroughly enjoyed watching the team climbing up in the trees, so there was entertainment value as well.

Heartwood did a fantastic job of pruning/trimming our 2 huge backyard trees. There were no heavy trucks used to create concern over lawn damage. They used harnesses to navigate up and down, with saws and chainsaws in tow. Clean up was to perfection!!

The team at Heartwood Tree Co. was efficient, professional and forthcoming about their plan. After an estimate and an approximate date of work, they gave a two–day notice prior to the date they arrived. Their team took precautions to make sure equipment didnt damage the lawn. They took a 60 dead pine tree down, trimmed a large Walnut tree and an Ash tree. They discarded all of the branches and wood. I liked their work so much that I recommended them to our neighbor who is also looking to have some tree removal done. Heartwood did a very nice job, taking down our damaged white fir. They were very careful in not doing damage to the trees surroundings (garden.) Also, they ground up the stump and spread the resulting mulch.They were easy to work with, communicated to us their plans in advance, and showed up on time and finished in a timely manner. Gave an guess on timing of job which was a few weeks out due to them being busy but everything done in time frame promised, very good. Cleaned up well afterwards. Trimmed 3 ornamental crab trees, took out a large dead lilac, trimmed maple tree and did some work on root system. Trimmed dogwood hedge.

We had a storm crack a branch off it was barely hanging on by a thread.They removed the branch but they did not bother to trim off the jagged section where it broke . I could have done this myself .They charge 350 bucks for this . Now this tree is open to disease . At the time I figured they knew what they were doing until an arborist told me he was shocked someone had actually worked in this tree.My friend hired them they charged her 600 bucks to trim the entire tree.They cleaned up the yard nicely and did not leave visible signs they were there and were professional but I will not hire them again .

Came quickly to give reasonable quote to remove storm damaged limb. Had excellent and rapid communication about when they would arrive to remove the limb. The limb was hung up on two other trees and they used a great strategy to remove it without damaging the other trees or any flowers or plants under the trees. Clean up was great. We recently hired Heartwood to prune several overgrown trees on our property. They were able to schedule the smaller ones on short notice and did a great job! These trees probably hadnt been worked on in 20 years, and the crew carefully reshaped them into a more compact and natural looking form while taking out all dead branches and opening up the canopy for better growth. The work was done quickly and quietly (considering theyre pruning trees...) and there was no mess left behind.I was even ready to cut one of them down, but they explained that its in better shape (not diseased) than I thought and recommended pruning instead, which saved several hundred dollars and means we still have a tree screening the bedroom window. They explained how to keep all the trees healthy going forward too.Were looking forward to their next visit to prune some very large and overgrown locusts that have been dropping branches in our driveway!

EXCELLENT! I worked with Garrett, who was very responsive every time I had a question. We had already hired Heartwood for some winter pruning but had a more immediate need to get it done when our neighbor needed large branches cut back ASAP to renew their home owners insurance policy (the branches were hanging over their garage). Garrett made sure the work was done to help us meet that deadline. They were on time, professional, and cleaned up well. We will definitely use Heartwood again and would highly recommend.

The Heartwood crew showed up right on time, and were finished when they said they would be finished.They protected our lawn with large sheets of plywood, and when they were finished, did a wonderful job of cleanup.The machines were very quiet for a crew cutting down a tree and trimming another one. For much of the work they used battery powered chain saws which were very quiet. Only when they needed to cut large branches and the tree trunk itself did they use gas powered chain saws, and even these seemed pretty quiet compared with some I’ve heard.The guys worked hard and very carefully. They didn’t allow large pieces of trunk or big branches to fall on the lawn, but lowered them by rope. Even felling the trunk of the tree that was removed was done in a way that protected our lawn and property.They obviously love their work, and enjoy working together. It was obvious to us, and our neighbors across the street who were watching said this also.Several of our neighbors told me that when they saw the wood chipper pull up in front of our house they thought, “Oh no! A loud chipper will run all day, making a terrible racket. But, those guys piled up all the branches and only ran the chipper when needed, just once or twice, then it was over.”Heartwoods chipper wasn’t run all day like some other tree companies in our neighborhood have done, leaving it running the whole time while they do other work. Even our citys trucks drive around the neighborhood with their chipper running while they’re driving. Heartwoods guys only ran it a few times and then were finished.Our neighbors were impressed and told us so. I’ve recommended Heartwood to several neighbors. Had a very large tree branch fall across our driveway that we needed removed before we could pull our cars out of the garage. Garrett came over within a couple of hours of my contacting Heartwood, in the pouring rain, to clear the driveway. The next morning, they came back and cleared all the branches and debris. They were in and out before we even noticed. Highly recommend!

Very pleased with their tree pruning services.Brent and crew his are top of the class arborists in Madison.They also deliver fresh cut local tree mulch for personal use...for free, if youre willing and able to take a large truck full. Best part is its all local trees without plastic bags to rip open and cause more trash. Mulch delivery services would be great to split with neighbors to make it more manageable.

Heartwood was great. They finished the job quickly (Both calendar and time), and did a great job leaving the site clean. Our bid was special, and they did a great job incorporating that into the price. Their price was competitive with 6 other bids, but they had the backing of a large group of experts to be more flexible if you are, so was superior. Well work with them again in the future.

They did a fantastic job taking down our tree, removing it, and grinding down the stump to below grade. They created a plywood path from the backyard to the street to protect our grass, and no one would guess they had ever been there. I would definitely hire them for pruning or tree removal in the future.
