The gentleman at Willy Street Tech was extremely short tempered and condescending.Any question I asked, he seemed to be confused before I even finished the question. His attitude made me feel dumb for even asking. I think thats called gas lighting? Idk dont ask him Bc he wouldnt know, he only specializes in macs.These questions included wanting to know if my external hard drive would have been affected when my hard drive broke(it was plugged in and not ejected when my computer broke).His disposition is so unbearably frustrating that I accepted my unanswered questions and left quickly, which seemed to be what he wanted.Coming from a server, I havent experienced someone whos been harder to talk to than this guy. Hes clearly overworked and unhappy.Given the last review it looks like Im not the first person to experience this :p

Unfortunately, I did not have a great experience with Willy Street Tech. My first experience with them seemed to go well as they quickly helped me obtain a refurbished laptop when mine had liquid damage. Within months, the battery on this good as new computer failed through no fault of my own. Upon calling them, they acted condescending claiming this was probably liquid damage again because there are sometimes irresponsible people that have to keep coming in. Additionally, they wanted to charge me more than double what the Apple store was to fix the battery. Buyer beware of the refurbished computers - as the Apple store seemed surprised to find out this was over 4 years old when sold to me, and they may end up costing more in repairs than getting a new one all together.

I appreciated the safety protocols and the professionalism behind this company. I had an enjoyable experience and the staff was friendly, compassionate and had a good sense of humor. My computer was fixed and feels brand new.

Brought in my computer because the screen wasn’t working after being dropped and the hard drive appeared to have lost its data. They reconnected the screen and hard drive and now both components are working, no replacement necessary. Staff was friendly

I was really impressed with my experience at Willy Tech Shop. I took my broken laptop here because the Apple stores are all closed in Wisconsin, and I feel like that was a blessing in disguise. First, I have to applaud them for how quickly they were able to help me considering the fact that they are overwhelmed with the Apple stores being closed. Also, they are being extremely careful with their COVID procedures which shows that they really value the health of their workers and customers.I was helped by John, and although my computer was beyond repair, he took the time to talk me through my best options moving forward. I honestly cannot even express how helpful and kind John was through this whole experience. I could tell that he really cared about me and my situation and wasn’t just trying to sell a product. Not only did he help me while I was in store, but we had several phone conversations and he was so patient and took the time to answer all my questions. I ended up leaving with a new computer and a smile on my face. 10/10 would recommend!

I was really disappointed with my experience at Willy Tech. I brought in my computer because the built-in camera broke and while they were assessing my computer the backlight went out. They suggested a $500+ repair to fix the logic board. I went to get a second opinion from my IT manager and they were able to fix my backlight by simply cleaning my computer a little bit and then reseeding some cables. My built in camera still doesnt work, so they maybe assessed the problem with the built in camera correctly.I was really upset that they messed up my backlight and made my computer completely unusable. I feel like they were careless when they were working on my computer. Then they proceeded to tell me that this type of thing happens all the time and the backlight just fails on mac. My IT manager said hes almost never seen a backlight go out on a mac. Overall, I just felt taken advantage of and backed into a corner because I could easily use my computer without a working built-in camera, but not without a working backlight.

Sarah at the WILLY Tech Shop was SO helpful. My old MacBook AIR is now like new and will last me longer than I thought thanks to her care and expertise. Highly recommend, great knowledge and customer service. There may be more life in your computer than you think, which also helps the environment. Check this place out!

Needed an electronic part quick stopped by and waited 15 minutes but no one is around... Tried calling and got no answer

Cracked my Macbook screen and dropped by this place instead of taking it to the Apple store. Super duper glad I did! There was zero wait and the woman working when I came by was very knowledgeable, matter of fact, and personable. She even discouraged me from buying a new computer. I got mine back in two days and am very happy!

Have had a few interactions with Willy St. Tech Shop now and am really happy to have a local shop nearby of this caliber. I recently needed some work done on my Macbook Pro and they handled the repairs in professional and timely manner. Sara even worked late one night to try to get my computer back to me ASAP (even though the delays were due to Apple). Much better experience than going in to the Apple Store. Will definitely use them again!

This is during the ongoing COVID crisis, and I know that tech shops have been overwhelmed by customers needing their computers so they can work from home. She was kind, helpful, and got my computer back to me in less than one business day. Thank you!

Great experience! Everything discussed was delivered and taken care of quickly and efficiently. The commuter arrived quickly, the data transfer was quick and smooth. I would highly recommend this shop and its capable, efficient, and personable staff to anyone. Josh stayed on top of everything. The shop itself is a delight to be in with its clean layout, sunlight, and outdoor patio.

My girlfriend and I stopped in there for the first time a couple weeks ago. THAT PLACE LOOKS AWESOME from the inside!! Danny was tremendously helpful, and it was a great experience dealing with your company. Well definitely be coming back if we need anything in that area.

Most times when I put up a review its because I was not satisfied with service provided. This is NOT one of those times. Great atmosphere and very helpful staff. Ive been in there a few times and they have always helped me out. I would definitely suggest going here over any Apple store.

This is the second time that I had service here and have been happy both times. The tech found the issue (bad power source) and had one in stock. My mac was running slow and they were able to guide me through the process of speeding it up. They could have charged me for the extra service but were kind enough to let this one pass. Great place to go!

Ive tried to shop at Willy Tech Shop - formerly MAC, formerly whatever - about once a year since they opened. If I remember correctly they were there before Madison got an Apple store.I wanted to support them. But every time Ive dropped in Ive been disappointed. From calling to speak with someone to verify they had a product in stock only to schlep over there and find it wasnt (OS X 10.6) to my recent experience of needing an adapter and finding that they only carry third-party adapters (no, your sales rep cannot reassure me of its reliability by telling me its Name Brand; no, your 14-day return policy is not sufficient if it dies on me), Ive always been amazed that this place stays in business.Every time Ive been in Willy Tech/MAC store/whatever, Ive felt condescended to for not being satisfied with what they have to offer. Not good, guys. Thats Best Buy or Radio Shack behavior. Heres recipe for success: Model an Apple retail store. Have stuff in stock, make it easy to shop, meet the customer at their level.

Awful!!! My daughter called me in tears because she was treated so rudely!!!! She followed all of their instructions on their website, yet after 5 days, and minimal communication on their part, nothing was resolved! They don’t answer their phone! Terrible customer service!!!

Took my Mac Air in for warranty work, it had to be sent in but was very fast. Folks were nice but lots of trying to sell you add on stuff, which I find irritating. My main gripe was I took it here as its local, they wouldnt take a local check. Maybe Im the only apple guy who writes a check now and then but If forgotten my credit card. My bank is two blocks away and thats local too. Cant tell you if Id go back or not

The person working was very helpful and able to solve my problem in a matter of minutes. Its a bit pricey, but thats to be expected from an independent Apple dealer. It has a fun vibe with free wifi, a deck to hang out on, mugs, and more.

Over the past 3 years, my wife and I have been very impressed by the technical expertise and friendly service at WILLY Tech Shop. Josh has provided patient, clear and useful training for the use of iPhoto and iMovies and various other computer program features. Excellent tube-side manner.He also increased the disk capacity of one of our computers and fixed various software problems while giving useful advice to our other questions. WILLY Tech Shop is our go to spot for computer questions and problems.

I worked with Josh and he was incredibly helpful and kind and PATIENT with me. I am the farthest thing from a techie so I get pretty stressed about tech issues. Thank you Willy Tech Shop, Ill be back!

Not sure where basic service has gone; this is an example of the the poorest service I can remember. I live in Baraboo and was in Madison because my father was in the hospital and due to all the time I spent using my phone during this time I needed it recharged and did not have my charger with me so I went to Willy Tech Shop and asked if they could charge it. Yes they could and it would be $30!. My god 30 dollars to charge a phone that is just ridiculous. I did pay the money as my back was against the wall as I need my phone at this time because I didnt plan on going home till the following day. I would have thought maybe a 2-5 dollar charge would seem fair.

I was talked into buying an overpriced third party charger from them for a macbook. I was told the charger is actually better than the ones from apple. It starting smoking and started a small fire in my bedroom a month later.

Compete rip off. Nothing was a incredible vale. I believe in supporting local until they feel like exploiting locally with their inflated replacement part costs and hourly labor that takes someone on the net 1.5 when billed 3 hours from them. RIP OFF!

RIP OFF. Bought a new charger for my macbook pro... they charged the full Apple prices upwards of $79. For that price I better be getting quality.. but no they gave me an knock-off cheaply made charger that broke within a month. Thanks a lot guys. Oh and I saw what the knock off chargers cost on Amazon.. $14. Thanks for wasting my money. Also this charger is a complete fire hazard, not at all well made like the Apple ones.

I chose to purchase my ipad through Willy Tech Shop in order to support a local business. Im glad I did since I received excellent service. Danny walked me through the process of purchasing and even made a call to my carrier to answer my questions. He explained all of my options and made the buying process painless. The first lesson proved to be invaluable and Danny is an excellent teacher. His explanations were clear and I left with all of my questions answered and a lot of valuable information. I have purchased Apple products from the West Towne store in the past and felt it was okay. Living on the eastside it was a pain to travel across town for purchases or lessons. I found the store to be very busy,noisy and I dont like the mall experience. Willy St. Tech Shop is a completely different experience. Service is excellent! Support this place!

Called the store to find out if they had a cable adapter to connect my Macbook air to a data projector. Could not get a real person on the phone. Went through a lengthy phone tree, finally got to the accessories button and then was told to look online or come in. Ill be on the west-side of Madison tomorrow, so I might as well just go to the Apple store.

I will never spend another dime there again.Me: Id like to get the battery replaced on my ipod.Tech: Well, we have to check it in first to make sure thats whats wrong with it.Me: Ok fine, but its the battery, and thats all I want fixed.Today get a call from the tech shop.Tech: We looked over your ipod and the repair will be $78.99.Me: Is that to just replace the battery?Tech: No, thats the battery, click wheel, and the LCD screen.Me: All I want is the battery replaced, how much is that?Tech: I dont know, Ill have to get back to you on that. Well it says that the LCD screen should be replaced. Is it cracked?Me: Just a few of the LCD pixels dont work, but it still works fine.Tech: And what about the click wheel? That can really affect functionality.Me: Yeah, its a little messed up, but it still works. Look, all I asked when I brought it in was for the battery to be replaced, and after nearly a week, I dont even have a price for that?

I have dropped in twice and gotten wonderful advice immediately. Wouldnt go anywhere else.

I had a slow MacBook and they fixed it, but through some misunderstanding on my part, I needed more help to get my system totally working. Even though it was my misunderstanding they worked to make sure I got what I needed. Josh is a patient sweetheart of a techie. Thanks!

Have been there several times -always disappointing-too bad because I like to support neighborhood stores-have started to go to Tech Heroes-a totally different experience and they do everything.
