Their app is also a well designed piece of technology that can get you booked without more than 5 clicks. But the reason I keep my loyalty in check is due to Brandon. He’s the consummate professional, whose penchant for detail is admirable. He strikes a great balance between conversing about his life and yours and also ensuring that you’re in and out of his chair for your sake and that of his next client. I havent been to Shortys for probably 11 years, only because I moved away then came back. Today I called and they recommended Anthony. OMG Anthony is awesome!! I showed him some pictures of haircuts I liked but he took the time to explain why those would not work for my hair texture, he still gave me a great cut anyhow. Anthony made me feel so comfortable and I really had a great time talking with him... If I could give Anthony 10 stars I would!!!

They have barbers on staff who are well-trained and experienced. Prior to that, I got my hair cut here, and my girlfriend admired my neat appearance. Ive been going to Shortys for what must be 25 years now... even before they moved to their current location. (they used to be located a couple of blocks further north on Fairfax). I know with this barber shop that no matter who I get assigned to me to cut my hair Im going to get a good haircut.I believe their price for the standard haircut has gone up recently. Its more than I like to pay, but its certainly comparable or less expensive than the majority of other trendy or more recently opened hair cutting salons and barber shops in the area.

Got my haircut on Shorty’s patio by Nicole and I had a great experience. I felt safe as everyone wore masks, sanitized, and had their temperature taken before sitting in the chair. Nicole was great to hang with and had me looking good during the haircut shortage of 2020.

I have been going here for years. The best! Love Pita, Rick, Cesar, etc. it’s also super cool and hip. Good vibe. I use a few of their products as well. Putty and the peppermint shampoo. Both the haircut and products are inexpensive. They always have done me right! Five stars.

Whats not to like? They do womens cut and color as well as mens. Its a quick trip and its a great price! The people working there seem really happy. Court did my color and I get a lot of compliments on it. I wish I could go more often but I dont live here!

I passed this shop few times and it looked cool from outside. When I needed urgent haircut before my interview, I called them midday and was able to get in within 15 min. Julie was great, attentive and educational about both my hair and products I can use. And shampooing after haircut...feel like a baby again! Anytime Im in West Hollywood and need haircut, Im back at Shortys!

I got one of the worst haircuts of my life from a barber at Shortys.I came in, showed the barber a picture (a basic skin low fade), and asked him to shape my facial hair.What did I get? It wasnt a fade, much less a skin fade. He pretty much left a line just above my ears and kept the length above that horrible line the same length. (Perhaps his barber college taught him that a fade didnt have to be, well, a fade?) When I asked him to fix it, he blamed me and said that the man in the picture I showed him had different hair type than I did. While I credited his powers of observation, I reminded him that the picture was meant to show him how high (or low) the fade had to be. He then tried his best to fix it, which was barely an improvement. (Did I mention that he didnt even thouch my mustache? I guess his barber college also taught him that mustache wasnt part of facial hair.)To their credit, Shortys offered to comp my haircut (I declined) or to have another barber fix my hair (I again declined because I thought it would result in an awkward situation).I dont mean to suggest that all Shortys barbers suck (I saw others work, and they seemed pretty good), but this particular one certainly did. (He didnt introduce himself, and I didnt ask his name, but his station is downstairs right under the letter Y of the lit Shortys sign on the wall.)

I was a happy customer of Shorty’s for over a year and tried returning after my stylist moved on. I got a cut from Julia, who was highly recommended by the person answering the phone. I found her to be a nice, cool person who was easy to talk to. As it turns out, she wasn’t much of a listener.I told Julia I’d gotten a bad haircut elsewhere and had grown it out and wanted to preserve the length and fix the shape, giving pretty specific requests of how wanted it. I have to cut my hair a certain way for work, but I make my expectations clear before letting a cutter proceed.Before I knew what was happening, she cut off most of my new growth and left the shape of the previous haircut intact. I tried not to freak out and asked her to fix a particularly strange looking spot - and she blamed me for it, saying “I pretty much just did what you told me and tried to follow the shape of the last cut You got”. Okay, exactly the opposite of what I said...I kept my cool, left a big tip, and now I’m going to find where my last cutter moved to. I won’t be back to Shorty’s though, even though Julia and the rest of the staff are genuinely pleasant people.

I have been coming here for maybe 6 years. I make an appointment with my preferred stylist, Dee, whom I adore both as a person and for my wonderful haircuts --so my review is, of course, about a highly individualized experience.But I have gotten haircuts from many of the the stylists and have never been disappointed.The vibe is very informal and neighborhood, but once I am in the chair I feel like I am in some high-end joint in Beverly Hills, instead of on Fairfax Avenue.A friend recommended this place to me those 6 years ago, and I am so glad he did!

My six-year-old son needed a haircut on a Sunday. I searched online and found Shorty’s. So glad! Great experience, fashionable haircut for a young kid (hard to find sometimes) and reasonable pricing. Ivan greeted us warmly and Sarah did a perfect job on his Beckham inspired haircut. She listened to what he wanted and he enjoyed the experience but even more he LOVES his new haircut. I went here for the 1st time & got my haircut by Chris! Hes awesome at designs! I have a Mohawk with shaved sides & he took his time (about an hour) to create a unique/clean design & I received nothing but compliments for weeks on his masterpiece! Love this shop! The atmosphere is awesome as well. Everyone is very nice, upbeat & bubbly. Sorry to all of the people who commented & said they had negative experiences. Try it out for yourself is all I can say.

I love shortys but maybe I am a little biased since I can just roll out of bed and into the salon chair. Very Friendly staff and the hairstylists are up on the newest trends in hair to the classic mullet with rat tail. Just dont ask for that. They also have high standards to products the sell. I defiantly recommend if your a boy,young man or silver fox to give shortys a try.

Usually I get a great cut here. Every once in a while, youll get someone who doesnt jive with your style. Though Ive usually been really pleased with most of the people here.I highly recommend Dee. She always gets it right and is full of great conversation. Ive always left more than pleased with her cuts and I get complements on her work all of the time.

Ive been getting my hairs cut at Shortys since they were at their old location up the street. Thats got to be 15 or 20 years now. consistently good no matter who you get. I just really like this place.

Every time summer I come back to LA from Boston -- and every summer I stop at Shortys for a haircut or two or three. And I wanted to give a shout-out to the service that one barber there in particular provides. ANTHONY takes whatever directions you offer in terms of the cut and he executes those directions terrifically and efficiently. And he takes cues as well in terms of engaging in conversation or not. He is the most perceptive and talented barber and/or stylist Ive encountered in a long time. And I hope to benefit from his service for a long time to come.

Ive been here a few times and I really love it. I go to a guy named Rick, who is amazing. I read in a few reviews that some barbers spent about 10 minutes, but Rick always takes longer, which I like. He really takes his time to make sure everything is perfect. $27 for a haircut that is better than some professional salons that I have been to and spent way more is really hard to beat. Save yourself a headache and go see Rick!

A while ago i gave 5 stars but I had to edit this review. I have been a customer of Shortys for almost 5 years . Today, again, i had a very bad experience, and it s always the same girl. She is an arrogant and doesnt want to be there, very bad manners and gave me a horrible haircut . I thought they had better judgment on theyr employees.I will never go back.

I got a haircut there on my first day in Los Angeles almost 9 years ago. Ive been going back ever since! The owner runs a great business and the people are very nice. Its an off-beat place, which makes it fun and interesting.

I used to go to Shortys and I was lured away to another place because of a discount and a friends recommendation. For a while it was ok, but then twice in a row I got the worst haircuts Ive ever had. So I came back to Shortys. And now three of four times in a row with all different stylists (I think it costs extra to choose a specific stylist and Im poor enough that I can be lured with discounts), Ive walked away with cuts that I love!The staff is friendly and the vibe is inclusive. Love em!

Its been great for years. Great vibe, and pretty much, any one is a quality stylist. That said, the last three appointments Ive tried to make have gotten screwed up-lost, not even in the system. If this keeps happening, regardless of quality, Im out.

Friendly but the guy who cut my hair didnt know what he was doing. Cut the sides and back using just a #2 guard - no fade to blend it in and went to high giving me a weird wide faux hawk look.

Worst place i have ever been short story and the long one to come . they let me leave tellin me my hair cut was fine when it was more messed up more then it has ever been . not to mention they let unlicensed stylist use razor when there not certified to use . when calling upset they tell me they will fix my hair when he calls me back he says i can get my money but i cant get my hair fixed . note to anyone coming here its a circus they sold me some off brand tea tree shampoo i intrest anyone to getting this and trying it u will see there products are garbage and there scamming there people...do not go to this place instead of doing the right thing they continue to hang up and act like clowns lols

I saw Jordan here. He gave me a bad cut and seemed annoyed with me the whole time. Seemed irritated that I was asking questions about my hair. Also the woman over the phone told me they dont do reservations so to just come walk in. Well I did and then was greeted by a 20-minute wait (hint; thats what reservations are for!). Will NOT be going back and cannot recommend.

Terrible experience. My haircut looks uneven, I had to beg the stylist to fix it, and at some point he made me feel like I was annoying him and said that I should just go home and wash my hair to fix it.
