You’ll have a very clean and friendly visit when you get your shave at Modern Rebel. Trevor is very competent with his trimmer, razor and shears. A very customer focused establishment, they want to make sure you get what you’re looking for and happy with your cut. Quite good prices, especially for Hwood(or anywhere in Los Angeles). Well worth your time and money to get your shave on here.

My fiance has been getting his haircut from Trevor for years. He always looks forward to his appointment, they have great conversation and the process is convenient (salon republic, easy parking with validation). Best of all, he knows how to cut asian hair...and many can butcher it.Why am I writing a review? I was with my fiance as we were planning to have lunch in Thai Town after his haircut. With my paranoia with the whole Covid situation, I wanted to see Trevors disinfection routine for myself (I am a licensed esthetician and very particular about it). My fiance is immunocompromised so I am very protective and a bit nuts about cleaning/sanitizing. Though i am not allowed in the actual room, I did speak to Trevor before the appointment (he wore a mask) and I knew immediately that he was a clean freak like me. I peeked into his space & saw his professional strength disinfectant & the place was spotless. Also, the room is private, so nobody else will be in the room with you/him... easy social distancing!If you are looking to feel safe while getting your haircut, check this place out. We actually live in Westwood and my fiance drives to Hollywood to see Trevor...that says it all!

Modern Rebel is the best barbershop in LA. Trevor is not only an amazing barber, but he also follows all the current Covid guidelines. Everything is sanitized. The apron that is wrapped around you is brand new and Masks are required during the appointment.I cannot recommend this barbershop enough. Trevor has been cutting my hair for almost four years now. If you want a sharp cut with a nice fading, Trevor does an excellent job. When I wasnt changing my hair style he would cut my hair with precision and consistency every time. Recently I had a drastic hair change, and he still delivered a very satisfactory hair cut with excitement too. He really went above and beyond to make sure that the cut was not rushed and exactly the way he and I wanted it, in a very timely manner as well. The shop has really been Covid proofed too. Wearing a mask can be frustrating for a haircut but he manages to work around it to not make it an issue during a cut and sanitizes for sure. Also really personable guy and great for conversations.

Given that context I can say Trevor is by far the best barber I have ever been too. An old roommate recommended him to me years ago and I’ve been a regular since.Trevor simply doesn’t cut hair. He gets to know what you want, he assesses the pattern your hair grows in, and then he gives you your own personal haircut. I have really thick hair, and it grows in like a chia pet. My hair is hard to cut. I have generally been dissatisfied with my haircuts up until I met Trevor (remember I’m in my 30s, that’s a lot of cuts). Every Once in a while I’d be able to get a good haircut, but something was almost always off, especially the shape. I have loved every single haircut I’ve gotten from Trevor. Everyone. Again, he’s the best. He even plans out how the hair will grow in and how your hair will look in a couple of weeks. I’m not exaggerating. He’s a smart dude.On top of his barber skills, he has excellent customer service. He’ll offer you all sorts of refreshments. He’s a super nice, friendly, smart dude. If he wasn’t married with a family I’d introduce him to my sister.

During COVID-19 you really cant be too careful. What Trevor offers is exactly what Im looking for in a safe space during the pandemic. Greeted with a temperature check, fresh linen, and great hygiene, Trevor shows that his passion extends further than his craft but also in the care for his clienteles health. Nice cuts

In my opinion, Trevor views cutting hair as an art. He is a true artist at his craft and we, his clients are lucky enough to be the palette. I had been seeing him off and on at his old shop but it was difficult to get an appointment with him (he is that good) and I was just an overall bad planner. Now, in his new shop I make an appointment with ease, he has drinks available (I have yet to take him up on the alcoholic drinks...but the time will come when I want to enjoy a nice cold beer during my haircut), he is witty, a great storyteller, an overall great guy, and most importantly, the man knows what he is doing. I am so glad I finally found someone in LA that can give me a great haircut and a fair price....oh, and you ALWAYS get the offer of a piece of gum or mint at the end. This guy is the real deal!

Im visiting from out of town and hadnt had time to get my hair cut before I left, so I took a leap of faith and did a Google search. I found Modern Rebel and decided to give it a go after the owner/stylist, Trevor said he could fit me in before his next appointment.The shop is located in Salon Republic, a business that houses many other salons, but its right behind Veggie Grill and was so easy to find. Trevors salons name is an homage to the late, great David Bowie and the inclusiveness of people from all walks of life that the artist inspired. Theres even a small sign on Trevors mirror that hits all the points near and dear to my heart: Love is Love, Black Lives Matter, etc.Trevor made sure I got exactly what I wanted by educating me on the options of clipper blades he could use while also making suggestions of his own which I fully trusted. He also gave me drink options to choose from to which I decided on a bottled water (I hate open cups of water at salons, its like asking to drink hair). As he buzzed away at my bald head, he told me about his family and we had such a great and effortless conversation. I requested two little 80s-esque lines be shaved in, and he went the extra mile by using a straight edge blade to ensure the design last as long as possible. No stylist has EVER done that for me.By the end of the cut, I knew Id found my go-to LA stylist, and was actually wishing that he was based in NYC so I could see him on a regular basis. I cant recommend Modern Rebel Salon enough, stop reading this review and go book!
