This was my first job. I really enjoyed working for Starfire; they were welcoming, flexible when it came to real life events; and everyone who worked there past and present was respectful and professional. Currently they have very competent engineers and drafters both with practical hands on, and technical experience. The old management was wholesome, and new management is very forward thinking, very receptive to feedback- They moved to a new location with adaptations for a healthier work environment with stand up desks and they have a 9/80 schedules which is great for time off.I would recommend working for them.
This company is as low-budget/no class as they come. So cheap they advertise a job on Craigslist, waste an hour on the phone pre-screening you, schedule an interview, get you to drive 1-1/2 hrs round trip on your dime (plus the 3+hour interview B.S.). All the while dodging your direct questioning about salary range for the position. A bunch of unprofessional looking slobs inhabit the place. This is a tiny-ass, mom-n-pop operation doing one-offs of railroad cars. Dead-end job for anybody who has any talent or potential. Couldnt even pay for a lunch. Will drag-ass deciding on the perfect candidate. Didnt bother to send a Dear John email or even a phone/text message saying they hired some kid right out of tech school. Waste of time. If this is how you treat candidates-- what can I expect once Im an employee?
