My home-away-from-home. Fabulous facility. And they take cleaning very seriously to keep us healthy. Wonderful, cheerful environment to exercise in. Very motivational. Great trainers, too!

Ive been a member of many YMCAs but this is without doubt the best. Impeccable equipment, great staff, and well-designed locker rooms. A special shout-out to Andy and Juliet, who make it a true pleasure.

The gymnastics area is wonderful but the facility failed to pay all the coaches. all of them left due to the poor salaries. and the parents and gymnast were left angry and confused. this happened multiple times. wouldn’t recommend training here

December 2020Beware signing your children up for swim lessons !The YMCA was closed twice during my childs session and a make-up was not offered on either day my child was available.I asked that she be allowed to make up those 2 closed days on the next session on the days she is available.I was told that was not possible due to staffing. But they then said I could pay for the next session so she could go.This inconsistency is wrong on so many levels. No room for a make-up student but room for a paying student...I have tried in good faith via email for 3 weeks to give 3 YMCA employees the opportunity to due the right thing.Their inability to make a small accommodation for a small child to learn to swim is not in the Christian spirit that is the third word in YMCA.

Enjoyed our membership here. Nice to have a clean pool, hot-tub, free-weights and treadmills to use in a New England winter. My only complaint would be the lifeguards. The lifeguard manager was always very professional and fun (actually talked to my tweens and had conversations with them) but the other lifeguards could be a tad petty with blowing a whistle and ordering them to walk slower, etc. when there was no one else in the room and I (the mom) was supervising them. I also wish there were more open swim hours when kids could just be kids and have the run of the pool. :)

This YMCA is clean inside and outside. The staff here does an outstanding job on keeping on top of the clean up. The restrooms are always clean. The gym equipment always smells fresh and clean. The floors are swept periodically throughout the day. I spend as much time as possible here after work, generally I get in 4 hours of exercise per night 7 days a week. There is always something to do here. You can go rock climbing, take karate classes, do cycling classes, racket ball, they have an Olympic size swimming pool with lanes put up, they have a full size basketball court, an indoor running track, they have a Jacuzzi, steam room, sauna, there are coaches here that can help you train all you have to do is sign up, there is an indoor gym with just about any kind of workout machine that you would ever need to use, treadmills, cycle Mills, free weights, bench press, they have gymnastics but for quite a few of the activities that I mentioned above you need to get the weekly/ monthly schedule upfront so you can make appointments if necessary or figure out what times of the day and week certain classes are being held otherwise you will miss out. They dont hold every single class everyday, some classes are alternated each day of the week at specific times of the day. So get that schedule first. They do have a summer camp and tried to enroll mine, but it fills up before their camp even starts so that was a bummer, but maybe next year my kid will get to participate. I heard alot of great things about their camp but no worries we still visit here and enjoy all of their other activities.Definitely bring your family here if you are in the area and check this facility out its definitely worth your time. Thanks for reading my review and have a superific day! 😆👍#SMASH the like button if my review has been helpful for you today ✌️👍✌️👍

Closes at 6pm Saturdays, which is inconvenient, especially for the price of a membership (I would expect to be able to use the gym more often on weekends when I’m not working). No senior discount and price of membership increases once you turn 30. The sliding scale discount no longer applies to those who it used to apply to. I was given false info by a staff member so I was unaware that I’d paid for a month so I didn’t go all month; when I spoke with management about it for either a refund or a “complimentary” month, I was denied and told that this staff member never would’ve given me misinformation (which she did or I wouldn’t have paid for a month and not used the membership during that time). The staff at the pool used to be extremely strict, to the point of being unkind and rude, but this seems to have improved somewhat. The group class room is extremely hot in the summer and there are no shades in half of the room, which it tough particularly in the summer. A number of us have put requests in for shades or A/C in the room but nothing’s been done. It’s a beautiful gym with lots of options for exercising, so it is unfortunate to have these downfalls.

I moved to USA 2 years ago, and Im used to the high EU gym standards, I must say that from all the gyms I visited in USA this YMCA meets all expectations!Clean, modern, NEW, it t massive variety of equipment and stuff to do!It includes personal trainers in your membership too, hell Ill even go to the point of pointing out the Jacuzzi they have!I dont understand this 1 star reviews, people complaining that the staff is disrespectful, or that the membership is expensive, etc.First, the staff is appropriate! Theyre qualified professional people, and these complaining people most likely broke the rules and were escorted out, standard protocol, ofc they will strike back with 1 star reviews.Second, for what this facility offers, and the standards it has I would call it dirt cheap membership $35/month for all this? Sign me up! Tbh if a middle class person cant afford a membership of $35/month, well maybe you should review your budget? Im sure these same people have more expensive memberships elsewhere. If youre a bad money manager it doesnt make YMCA expensive, it means you have to look for the issue elsewhere.I make 25k/year jointly with my wife, and we pay her college out of pocket, rent, and all bills out of pocket, not $1 debt, and I can afford to pay for my membership and hers.So ignore these 1* reviews, this is a 5/5 facility.

5 stars for rich people, 1 star for middle class. I loved the old YMCA and was volunteer fitness staff for 26 years at the old Keene location. But today--essentially $1000/year for a couple? As I said, great for those who make over $100k but for the common person the Y is seriously out of touch.

Loved yoga here. Took different classes from different instructors, the only time I wasnt crazy about it was when there was a sub. instructor who didnt know what they were doing. The fact that the child care play area was outside & below the windows where yoga classes were made it interesting, trying to ignore screaming children.Swam at the pool, both laps alone & with the whole family, for fun. Often there werent enough lanes open & had to share with other folks.Loved child watch. Never left the kids with anyone other than family, but always felt like my son was in great hands here. The family locker room could be weird. Certain times of the day grown women without children were allowed in the family dressing room, but mostly they just went in whenever they felt like it, & the fact that it was after their allowed time was never challenged by anyone who worked there. I found that extremely weird, given that theres a womens locker room which has all the same amenities, just without little children... They have rules but dont enforce them.Used the gym (just the treadmills) a few times, & the track. Another rule they NEVER bothered enforcing - walking lane, running lane, passing lane. You get these folks who just think the rules dont apply to them (why not, since the Y never enforced the rules) & they walk, side by side (2 folks), just chatting, completely oblivious to the folks trying to RUN in the RUNNING lane (which one of them would be WALKING in). Then there were the geniuses using the track as their own personal go-between to walk from the courts/studios in the back to the front & step out in front of folks who are RUNNING on the track without bothering to look first. Cant tell you how many times I had to come to a complete stop for some oblivious jerk with his/her giant duffel bag just taking their sweet time walking mid-track.My main problem, however, was their gymnastics program & the disrespectful, unprofessional way that it was run. Heather Goodwin ran it the year before we joined. Before she ran it, they only did Y meets. Yes, there are Y teams & Y meets, but they are no where near as organized & competitive as USAG. Y-meets are a step up from recreational gymnastics, but no where near as challenging & competitive as USAG. The first year Heather Goodwin took over the Y team, she had the girls competing USAG meets, & they WON STATES (tied with a private gym). For their first year competing USAG, this was huge. We had no idea the Keene Y even competed USAG until we were at states & they WON! We left the private gym where our daughter had gone for 7 years & went to the Y specifically so our daughter could be coached by Heather Goodwin. One day, Heather was just gone. No explanation or even warning from the Y. Our daughter simply showed up one day & she was GONE. They did tell us she wasnt allowed back at the Y, so the girls never got to say bye to their coach. There were some everybody gets a trophy, dont push the kids at all parents who disliked her, they thought she was too tough on the kids. As a team parent whose child has been in both rec classes & on teams, from years of experience, Heather did NOT push the kids too hard. She was the nicest team coach! If the other parents did like their children being pushed, they should have taken them off team & put them in rec classes where its all fun & games! Our daughter spent 9 hours/week under Heathers coaching, it was beyond unprofessional that she was not allowed to say goodbye. I have a feeling the Y forced her out, although Ive never gotten any explanation. We left because of that, & they told us they were going back to only Y meets, NO USAG meets, which is garbage b/c Heather & USAG were the ONLY reasons we went there! Plus the parents originally voted to do USAG only, then the Y came in 1 yr later & vetoed what the parents wanted. Ridiculous. So yeah, they do Y meets, & the team practices a whopping 4 or 5 hours/week (what a joke), but if your daughter wants real gymnastics, go to a private gym.
