Really friendly staff. Easy to get to. Little tricky returning the car because I couldn’t find an easy way to access the parking garage. Went through the BJ’s parking lot to find an easy way in. I’d recommend posting some signs for returning National customers. Other than that, thumbs up.

As a executive elite member, Ive been renting here almost weekly for 5+ years and staff here is great. They will try to accommodate your choice of vehicle if they have it available.Julian, the manager, is very friendly and will go out of his way to meet any requests you have.The vehicles are almost always very clean as well.

After going to different car rental companies in NJ areas only Julian of National made our 7days trip to NY, Niagara Falls and Washington DC successful. He save me with all the troubles. Julian is awesome, friendly, pleasant, and considerate with our needs. And shout out also to Rebecca! I am a 20+ year National user and a frequent business traveler, 1-3 times per month. I recently rented a car in early June. I picked up the car at the New Jersey City location. I dropped the car off, 8 miles away, at the National Rental Car return in Newark Airport (EWR). I was charged a bit less than $250 for two days worth of rental. A day later I was charged an additional $200 drop off fee, for not returning it to the New Jersey City location. I have never experienced a drop off fee this outrageous. No amount of cajoling could sway the clerk-like responses of this location. I called and got a thats too bad tone in response. National simply doesnt care about the loyalty of their customers....or should I say former customers... AVOID THIS RENTAL SITE. BEWARE!UPDATE Aug 10th: It took one month for this location to respond to me and the same clerk-like tone of too bad for you. They did not budge. Long story short, being a National member means zero to them. They do not inform you of these exorbitant fees on the front end. AVOID THIS RENTAL SITE. BUYER BEWARE!

Hoping to share my personal experience here:I rented a car on Friday and was supposed to return the car on Saturday. Since this national car rental location is closed after 12:00 pm on Saturday I asked if I could return the car during after hours on the same day. The employee said yes and when I explicitly asked about the final rental fee, I was told that its going to be a one day rental.So I returned the car at around 4:00pm on Saturday and dropped off the key and I assumed that this is going to be all set.So when I looked at my final receipt on Monday I was surprised to find out that I was charged for three days of rental. I called the branch and was told that the charging was expected. If I drop off the keys during after hours, I will be charged until the employee are back to work and have fully examined the car.While I have no problem with this policy. I felt pretty upset by the fact that this was never explained fully when I picked up the car. I was told completely two different things about the pricing. Their manager insisted that they had explained pricing to me explicitly during car pickup and pointed out that it was my fault that I didnt fully understand the contract. When I asked about how I could escalate this and demanded to talk to a manager, I was told by the ppl on the phone: “im the manager in charge of this branch so any complaint will be going through me.As a customer I simply felt strongarmed and whats worse is that theres no way to escalate the poor customer service. I adamantly believe that I was not given the full details when I picked up the car. I also believe that the I was being misled about the pricing during car pickup. And the employee/manager refused to acknowledge this and insisted that i failed to understand the contract.I hope my experience would be useful for anyone who are considering renting cars from this location. If you have to rent a car from this location please be explicit. Otherwise you will be told that its your fault that you didnt understand the contract :) and oh of course, dont expect to escalate :)

Incredibly long line down the block, taking about 15-minutes per customer it seemed. Not sure what took so long for some people. Might be helpful to have priority lane for existing members and/or status.

The location deserves 1 star. I added 1 more star because of national online service is good. This location have so many issues:1) the front desk obviously are not very happy and not very helpful. When they tell you how to return the car, they would let you know 1 left 3 right, and in fact they expect you to get off the road, drive across the parking lot of the supermarket and use parking lot exit. And please dont use the word if you listened to me, instead why dont you make a map at your front desk? I followed exactly your instruction and ended on the east side of the building, and had to come back and forth for an hour including finding the right spot for parking, which would bring point 2)*Note: for any first timer, the entrance/exit of the garage is on the north side of the building block. If you follow the road, you will have to do 1 left and 4 rights from front office. There are also two garages on the north side of the building, use the one close to the office and with a bar.2) which floor to return the car is very unclear. Could you at least put on some signs? Since no one is there to check return cars, and the 8th floor could be full from time to time. Same for how to get to the car for first time customer.3) continue with above 2), the invoices are not generated on a timely basis. I have 2 experiences here, one time it was late by 5 hours, the other time it was late by 6 days! and this is on the basis that for both time I have to call national serves to close the contract in the first place. The second time, the invoice is wrongly charged with 7days, so that I had to make a third call.Being executive elite for 5 years with national, this is worst and the only place I experienced such. I will never rent from this location again very disappointed. LGA and city locations were so much better.

I have been renting past 2 years from ewr Airport but there was no problem but this location I was disappointed due to service. I had to wait for an hour to get the car. Even after waiting an hour they say we dont car only mini van is available.

The Gentleman at the front desk was professional and courteous.The rental selection although limited and in this particular site did not have an emerald member section, their vehicles are very clean and fully loaded.Therefore justifying higher Prices compared to other brands on the market. If you want to extend your rental then thats when you will encounter some dissatisfaction because the pricing jumps to astronomical proportions forcing anyone to reconsider an extension and possibly not renting with national agian. Keep in mind as an emerald club member I recieved a discount and it was still higher than other brands. Which in my opinion is pretty absurd considering most of the brands are owned by the same company. Ive been a proud member of National for years now and will continue to do so, but theres a need for improvement on how to accommodate better when a patron wants to extend a contract to further enjoy their experience. Especially when they are willing to spend more money on your brand. I really wanted to extend with National to get closer to Executive and Elite status but was forced to return my rental and go to Dollar Rent a Car. This switch was very inconvenient. I had to take a taxi from Jersey City into lower Manhattan but Dollars prices was so fantastic that it fit into the budget. I also was able to get collision coverage with Dollar and that also fit into the budget. National needs to start reevaluating how to keep their members in their vehicles. A sunroof and leather seats should not incur a $40 a day mark up. The view of the sky is still accessible by stepping out of the vehicle..

This facility is understaffed and has a small selection of cars. When we arrived to pick up my car at 9:10 AM, we had to wait over 30 minutes to get served. The person was not inside the office when we first arrived and it took a while for the people in front of us to be served.This actually had a ripple effect because we were going hiking that day and it resulted in us still being on the trail despite the sun setting. This almost made us get lost through the night in a forest!Additionally, the facility isnt open on Sundays, so I had to keep the car an extra day. Once I finally returned it, it was super tedious to go up to the 8th floor of the parking lot and the attendant wasnt able to give me a receipt because he was busy working on a car in the parking lot and serving someone else. The car didnt get counted as being returned until I called National itself and asked them to check on the car and email me my invoice. They really need a couple more staff members working this place.The only nice thing is that we got a nice car with no issues on the car itself.

When we took the car, it was fine. But during our travel, when the temperature went up, lots of ants came out and they were all around us. We had a 6-month baby in the car. The ants crawled up on our stuffs, our arms and legs, and even up on our baby. The experience was awful. I had never encountered the similar rental car experience before.

I would give it a 5 for people (saving the day) and a 2 for the technology enabling customer experience. I booked and needed to wait an hour to get my car, under the sun on a hot summer day, regardless of my Emerald status. Luckily the person was fast, kind, and upgraded me. I then called to return the car to a different location. Charge was more than 27% of a week rental! And I stayed 28 min on the phone to sort it out (I emailed but you need to call they say). Again very annoyed, but the person on the phone saved the day offering me 2 days for free. Again with better tech you could have a better customer experience without offering discounts, but I guess this would do for now.

Rented on a Wednesday at 5 pm. Didnt make it Saturday by noon when they closed (still returned it before 5pm) Because they had closed, I got charged until Monday morning. I knew their policy, but I should have known corporate customer service was going to placate me and make me think they would work with me on it. Again, I knew the rules, but theres a reason they dont time stamp your return after hours. I figured I was a decent enough customer theyd cut me a break. Didnt happen.Dont set your return for Saturday. A 72 hour rental can become a 120 hour rental if you make a mistake and dont get it back by noon.

I had a reservation for 9 AM and I reaches there by 10:10 AM. Usually this works with all car rentals and they honor those reservations but this center cancelled my reservation without any contact! I got to know about the cancellation when I reached the car rental location. Even if they had to cancel, I would have appreciated at least a heads phone call or even just an email. They didnt have any other car at that time so I had to rebook the car rental from EWR airport.

I am a long time National loyal customer. Was thrilled to hear they had moved to downtown Jersey City.Very convenient location. Love the new office.They still do not have come-pick-go system. You have to talk to the agent which sucks..At most other National, I get free upgrades. I dont have to haggle much. But at Jersey City National, if you want to rent a compact size, they will try to get you the smallest cat possible. Why?? Haggling didnt work. They need a new agent at the location.With BJ coupon on the web, you can rent 3 days for 100 bucks.

I live in jersey city and this is still the most confusing place to navigate that Ive been to. When returning a car, you actually need to go into a garage on 2nd street. To get to this garage you have to navigate blocks of one-ways. Once youre in the garage there is no signage on where you are supposed to park the car. I had to move my car a number of times.

Returning a car is tricky. You do not want to go to 110 1st street. That is the office, not the parking garage. Ask for an address that gets you to the parking garage entrance.

Enzyme of vehicles that is located in Jersey city exactly in the building called The One in this building is the Alamo office together with National car Rental both merged into this office building is next door where it crosses the back floors Where is they find the parked vehicles then exit the building automatically. The attention in the place is very good that they have very good but you have to be very attentive because they offer you something that we may not understand they offer you the appliance so that you do not get off or do not get cash to pay in the tolls It is what are called tolls but they do not pay you The toll Then they charge you $ 4 for a daily service that what it does simply saves you from stopping to pay them tolls
