Hinds Co dhs office should be investigated. Case workers and supervisors. I have been waiting for months to be recertified. I have made Countless attempts to speak with someone left dozens of messages and still havent heard from anyone. Today I filed a formal complaint with the attorney generals office and I have a hearing coming up. We do not need this extra aggravation at a time like this. They should be ashamed.

The customer service at the MDHS office in Jackson is deplorable. The woman I spoke with was rude, condescending, and spoke over me while I was trying to provide information about our case. I wish I could give them zero stars.

I was scheduled for an appointment one morning, but never received a phone call. They put on their system that I missed. They scheduled me another appointment just to turn around and do the same thing. NO CALL! Everyday I call it says due to a high call volume try the call again later! Literally they are so unprofessional and disorganized .

I called a lady answered and I asked to speak with food stamp department she said,Oh no hold on...I was on hold for an HR no one never ever ever respond to your calls or your online application.This has been a on going wait to get assistance now since Late October of 2021.This is sad and apaling how they treating the citizens of Hinds county.I am destroy by their character using Covid19 as excuse as to not do what is right by the people

The most disorganized nd dont keep up nor follow up w their clients. I truly in my opinion need outside sources to come ck why a person trying to recertify since Oct. And all i hear we didnt receive paperwork found out about black mailbox at gate nd now im still waiting after submitting 2wks ago... always they have 30 days so they will send a new letter to start the 30 day process again. Ridiculous especially during this pandemic 😰

Can never get in touch with anyone. The phone rung one time then dead silence. Called again “there is a high call volume. Please call at a later time. ” Then the call automatically hangs up.

Very unprofessional....workers are not answering phones,I have reapplied multiple times since January and no worker has interviewed me yet and supervisor still hasn’t returned my calls this is ridiculous!!!!!!!

This place is very unprofessional.It’s been a month and a week now I’ve been trying to get my case worked up and no one have call me back. I had call 9 times.They tell me they going to send a message over to the supervisor. Still haven’t heard from Case Worker or Supervisor or the division. They never can find your paperwork. Which I had to bring paperwork several times before did they say they never got into my terminated my case. They need to do better with helping the people.

Its confusing on where you need to go once there. They should have a way to be able to submit documents online. Also they should be able to help people who work. I tried to get help but was told i make too much even though after i get done paying bills i have lucky of i have $200 to last 2 weeks for food, gas, and other needed items. It seems like the only ones that get help are the ones who have kids and screw the rest of us that live paycheck to paycheck.

The people are rude when they answer the phones WHENEVER they ACTUALLY answer the phone ! Besides that and being slow on responding to customers ! They put you on hold just to hang up ! The workers never call back and they always close your case due to them not looking at the submitted information ask you to resubmit an application just to wait 3 days before the month is out just give assistance . Horrible service

Well I recertified on the 21 of feb I have been waiting almost 2 month and nobody can tell why I have been waiting I call today and they said they have until april 19 thats 60 days so whats up with that I am with out food

I am not sure if it is just the case worker or the whole office.... horrible service, do not care attitudes, very, very unprofessional. They set phone interview dates then never call.... when you call them they never report that you called yet they tell you that they have 48 hours to call you back..... and then still dont. People like myself who do work and have fallen on really hard times and this program is supposed to help especially so the kids do not suffer...… They also refuse to allow you to speak to a supervisor... the case worker does not do her job, and only files 1/2 of what I send her into my account so my services got closed..... I have done everything I was supposed to do including try and call her for 3 weeks... give someone who wants to work and help people her position. So So sad.

It is sad how lazy some of the people in the department for child abuse are. It is sad how many kids are getting hurt and killed by these sorry no excuse for a man these dumb women talk too. Just this month they were called out for kids I know and they said nothing was wrong because the mama lied and they found a little food in the refrigerator and beds. All kids are failing school. Some nights they dont eat only her and the felon she dates. They get beat with sticks,the man fight them. They have been left at home for days alone. He beats on the mama. He does drugs and have started her on it. He takes the child support. They have sold stamps. Bruises will heal sometimes but mental abuse does not. Some of those kids dreams have been shattered. He looks and talk under one of the girls clothing. She told everyone that DHS said it was lies and nothing was wrong with the kids. Now her son arm is broken and the fool said he cant go to his pediatrician. Looks like she wrapped it herself. They said his brother did but we have heard 3 lies behind it. More kids will end up dead or seriously hurt if they dont do there job.

Se should we should all give a bag or two of kitty litter or dog food cat food if we all give something then none of them going to go hungry and well find homes that place is a great and wonderful place because they help me out with a dog that just got dropped off at my house and I reached out to them. so we all need to help them. OH EM GEE!!! Receptionist shouldnt be the receptionist is where Im going to leave that!! Beyond RUDE. Im from another county...i walk in...ask for a particular person... she never acknowledge that Im there.... never looks up until the end of our conversation. Never telling anything... other than I dont theres something lot of departments here and she doesnt know everybody!

Staff is ok most of the time and they get pretty busy, but the parking lot is...terrible-ish. The parking lot needs some tlc (pot hole, parking lines need redoing, new stop signs, and only just enough space)Gave it a 4 cause I guess Im reviewing the business itself.

Caseworker Mason is extremely incompetent! I explain during my interview that my household income is from my deceased spouse, which disqualifies my daughter from the TANF program and child care assistance. I am still told to wait 30 days until approval. During my interview I made sure to bring every document necessary to expedite my case and leave no room for error. Im hearing horror stories from other SNAP recipients so 3 weeks into my my waiting period I call to see if anything is needed of me and request to hear from my caseworker. She never calls. I wait the full 30 days and find that my case (1 adult & 4 children under the age of 10) was DENIED!I show up to the office on to find out why, and supervisor Floyd explains that I never showed up to my appointment. I convince her that I did and even recommended we check the sign in sheet for that day. She says I believe you, and proceeds to put a notice on Caseworker Masons desk. Supervisor Floyd then says there is nothing she can do until Mason does her part.Im livid but cordell, I thank her for her help and my 4 children and I leave her office.Next business day is Monday, Caseworker Mason calls and hangs up before I answer, I call back and of course the lines are busy. I call back to back until I get through. The rep speaks to Mason and she says she told me she is working it up I ask what does that mean exactly, and this Dingbat says Im not sure but check your card after 12 midnight.Im not comfortable with that response so I monitor my case online and at 3:30 the status of my case hasnt changed. I call back to speak with Mason and the rep I spoke to was very nice and sent a message to Masons supervisor and her superiors supervisor. 10 minutes later Mason calls to tell me she is working up my case now (the same thing the rep told me she was doing at 8:30 that morning). She doesnt apologize for her error, but blames it on the system, INCOMPETENT!, and then says none of the supervisors are in today so she will have them approve my case on Tuesday and the benefits should be on the card by Midnight.Today is Wednesday and the status of my case is still the same and I have no benefit. Because of their ignorance I am clueless about what we will be having for dinner, I have prepared everything in my cupboard and Ive lost 27lbs because Ive been make sure the food stretches; I tell my kids Im on a fast. Yesterday I ate dinner with them, a box of Red beans and rice, and now I regret it because I could have saved it for tonights dinner. Mason & Floyd you should quit and allow someone else to do a better job and as petty as it may sound I hope the food you eat tonight for dinner has glass in it

Why work at a government assistance facility if you have no patience to help. Service suck specifically in Jackson Mississippi off of Medgar Evers and I would not consider this despicable crabby rude attitude having atmosphere to anyone! Im not a rude person therefore if I come on respectively than I expect the same in return. Rudeness should be replaced with kindness and MAYBE this world could be a much better place! Especially black to black race!

This place help you out with assistance towards your kids and elderly people, are unfortunate people that are not able to support there self financially. Or if your spouse is not supported towards your children they can help with your income. They have tantive this for woman and children who need help with assistance towards income. They also help you find a job and they pay you for working on the job for more than a couple of months. If you cooperate with them they cooperate with you in assistance your need and care. Thank God for help.

No matter what you call and ask them they never have an answer and ALWAYS want you to come into the office before you even get out what you have to say. Why even have employees in the office if they arent helpful? They cant mail ANYTHING out to you and its a government office!!! I think monkeys in the zoo can do a better job!

I arrived to my appointment ahead of time and still wasnt seen for almost 2 hours. People that got there after me were going back before me. I had to literally ask the staff what was happening with my appointment. Come to find out apparently there was a lack of communication, and my appointment was never really scheduled. But I was still seen that day.

You have lazy people working the desks, if you dont want to work dont come to work! These new improvements is worser than what it was! Staff is extremely rude. Just because a person needs temporary assistance it doesnt give you the right to look down on or be disrespectful to them. I showed up for my interview only to find out that my case worker was out for the day. Someone should have contacted his appointments to reschedule us. Not to mention I had to find a ride there because my car is down.

The people working here act like the SNAP benefits are coming from their paychecks. I pay taxes just like everybody else whos employed in the state of Mississippi. Its slow as ever and time consuming, just be ready to waste your time going here. The staff needs to be upgraded. ASAP
