Great pool supply and maintenance company. They have a Howell and Brighton location, both have super friendly staff and are well stocked. The Howell store is larger and has a bigger selection. Both offer fast and free water testing and they are super knowledgeable on treatment plans and never over prescribe just to sell products. I highly doubt this company for all of your pool needs.

What a great company! They sent a team of young men to open our pool and they were efficient, polite & friendly. We had an additional reason to call Romans out for a tech issue and they arrived within a few hours of my phone call. Everyone that you speak to is helpful and friendly. Highly recommend them.

They went to my house unscheduled and unannounced until I received a voicemail that they were in the area and were going to take a look at my pump. I left work to go meet them for 9 minutes just for them to tell me its just air. Im still having the exact same issue, and never received the quote for the liner that I asked for twice but what I did get is a bill for their hourly out of area rate of $155.

Ive been going to Romans for a couple years now and I feel like they deserve some extra recognition for the in-store experience. Truly, their staff are super nice and helpful. You can tell they are either well-trained or have been doing this for awhile. Their prices are usually reasonable on MOST items, at least competitive with online retail and normally worth the convenience. I havent needed a visit from their staff to assist with anything on-site yet, but I wouldnt hesitate to call them for extra help if I needed it. Thank you to everyone at Romans.

Professional pool closers. I was not impressed with the original person that opened my pool, so when Romans charged approximately the same price with more resources to close it, I was skeptical. I already trust them with my pool balancing and they were detail orientated with the closing. With our late close this year, hoping the pool isnt too dark when I open in April ;).Thanks guys.Update. Just opened the pool months after closing..and wow, didnt need much work.

Have coming here to help my parents maintain their pool for a bit now. The shop always looks clean and they even are able to test your pool water with a machine that tells you exactly what chemicals to add. The only gripe I have is that their prices are just a bit too high.

Efficient and conscientious, these guys are good! What wouldve taken me all day they did in a couple hours and even set up my net. Would highly recommend.

Ive had Romans out to open and close my pool. I do most of that myself now, but, whenever theres an issue thats out of my league, I bring them out. I have always felt like they were sharp and honest. Another thing I appreciate is that they dont mess around, they come and diagnose and fix the problem quickly. I have also called them numerous times with questions and they have always been patient and respectful with me. I recommend them for any pool needs.

My husband and I contacted A1 pools as recommended from Roman pool store in Howell. We contacted him in March to have the pool put in this summer. After time and time of attempting to contact him, he refused to contact us to give us information about installing the pool. We needed information from him in order to pull a permit. He refused to send us the information. We asked him when he would be able to install it. He refused to give us a date. We contacted him early in the season to set a concrete date and pushed us to the back of the line continuously. Finally after asking if he is interested he said no. If he didn’t want our business he should have been straight forward so we could have found someone else. This is not a reliable company and if I could give negative stars I would.

I cant say enough how much we appreciate the service we receive from Romans Pool. The staff is always polite and exceptionally helpful. We have been a customer for years for supplies etc however we now rely on Romans for all of our pool needs. Kevin handles our weekly maintenance and his communication is excellent. Recently I called as the main pump was making some noise. I spoke with Roman and he advised me that as the pumps age they can make noise. He further told me that if it got worse or stopped working they kept a good supply of pumps in stock. Well fast forward a couple of weeks, the pump just quit. I called at 7:45pm and spoke to Roman to say that the pump had quit. Roman had a new pump installed by the time I got home from work the very next day!! You guys are dynamite and we truly appreciate the fabulous service!!

I Have been using Roman since 1999. I couldn’t think of a better pool company than them. They Have replace my pool liner over the years Repaired my pumps my filters I always have them open and close my pool. They always give me good advice when I bring my water in to be tested my pool is always clean and balanced highly recommended.

The people at Romans are always super friendly and knowledgeable. I wont go anywhere else. We have a pool and hot tub and theyve never steered us wrong.

We switched to Romans a couple of years ago for our inground pool and spa closing. The previous company was not insured and when the underground plumbing was not winterized properly we had a mess and should not have had to take an opening as repayment. That was one of the first questions we asked Romans and they assured us they are insured. That is very important! They have somebody covering their butts. Not that they need it! We have been so happy with their service when they close us up, they tell us when something is going to need replaced soon, everything is neat & tidy, and we feel confident as we pack things up for the winter. Thank you so much Romans. Thank you for the FREE water tests also!

I rarely ever write these reviews, but Romans is in a league of their own. For whatever reason I have found most pool companies to be incredibly unreliable. Not Romans. Everyone at Romans is excellent from inside store staff to the guys who open and close the pool. We bought a house several years ago in Dexter with a pool that had been neglected and needed a fair amount of work. I spent a month waiting on promises from companies closer (one much closer in AA was the worst) before I found Romans. Luckily, they service our area. Romans has been amazing, always top notch quality. We re-did much of the equipment and added automation and never had a single problem. Unlike other companies in this business, Romans always shows up on time and backs up their promises. I would never trust my pool to anyone else.

I needed a sand filter replaced. The filter was covered under warranty. I justed needed them to call warranty insurance & give work order number to get approval so I could get reimbursed. He wouldnt do it. They have opened & closed this pool for years. You lost a costumer.

Bought our pool a year ago from them. Very knowledgeable staff. They test you water and tell you exactly what you need for your pool water and how to add it. They dont try and sell you anthing other than what you need! Love this place!!!!

If you make a mistake and buy the wrong item, or the wrong size, wrong part, Or if an employee sells you the wrong item. You will not get all your money back. They will keep some. (6%) they call it a restocking fee. Even if you take it home, and then discover its the wrong one. Take it right back. You dont get all your money back. Be very cautious with this business. They will give you full credit towards a replacement item. That is if you need something else. If not, well it just cost you 6%.

Had another company handle my cleanings this year. They did such a bad job that I called Romans to come get things back on track before a big party we have planned. They busted their butts, coming every day and adjusting/treating as needed to get it ready for the weekend. Very high level of service; techs even called me or left notes about what they did and what follow-up plans were for the next visit. Ive also had them replace my liner this year; after they measured and installed the first one, it was too small, and they stood by their work, ordering another one immediately and getting it installed within a week. It says a lot when a business makes a mistake, then does what it takes to get it corrected.

Romans pool is the only pool service I will use. They do a great job opening and closing pools. I was even alerted when something in the future would need replacement. Broke the on/off switch. they initially wanted to order the part but I informed them that I will try to fix it first. after not being able to fix it, i called back after hours and a nice kid was able find the part in store instead of ordering it.

They have a great customer service and they are always really helpful on any questions regarding my pool, I also love that i can bring my water sample and depending on results, they advised me to treat with the needed chemicals...

Wow. My wife was just informed by Roman his company does not want our business any longer because we are not happy with his service although we never stated such a thing. Looking back on their service and considering his negative attitude toward us, I guess I have to admit he is right.Here are the facts:I am a new pool owner as I recently moved to a new home that has an above ground pool in the backyard. So I hired Romans to close our pool in 2017, and they did a great job.When they closed the pool, I sent my filter to be refurbished by them during the off-season. After they opened the pool in 2018, the filter leaked from the valve rotor and the main filter tank. Upon their return visit to fix the filter, I was told by their service person they had failed to put the O-Ring back on the filter and did not tighten all of the bolts around the filter tank properly. He fixed it and the leaks went away.Next thing I know, my 20+ year old pump stopped working and Romans came out to look at it. The service person went ahead and repaired it without inquiring with me whether I wanted it fixed ($282.17) or whether it may be better to replace it ($209.95 + service fees).The repaired pump quit working again two days later so I asked them to come out and replace it, for which they charged me service fees again. I disputed the double charges for the service fees and we settled by agreeing to credit the parts used for the repair ($29.95) and 50% of the service charges ($55.35). I thought it to be a fair settlement considering the situation.Now Roman has decided he does not want my business due to his unilateral determination that I am unhappy with his companys service. He says he cant afford to do business with me because I am too far away (20 miles).And I quote: Based on your location we do not find it to be cost effective to continue to service your area. Really? He wanted our business originally despite the 20 mile drive, now he says it is not cost effective to service our area? A weak excuse if you ask me.I am normally not one to publicly complain about a business, but I am a bit put-off by the fact Roman decided for himself I am unhappy with his companys service without ever inquiring with me about it.The amount of the settlement was $55.35 for the service and $29.95 for the Go Kit used to repair the old pump. If $85.30 worth of time and parts negatively impacts a companys bottom line, it makes me wonder if the company is a viable one.In my opinion it was their lack of diligent service that caused the issues not my lack of satisfaction. So I give them two stars because I know their team works hard and do their best. But I give the company a three-star demerit due to their lack of communication, shoddy work and customer-blaming approach.I leave it to you to decide whether you want to do business with a company like this one... or not.

No call also. The next day I went to the store to ask what happened to them and to get them to come out to

I had a DISASTER with Pietilla Pools, exacerbated by BAD advice from 5 Star Plumbing. Roman Pools to the rescue! Roman personally came out to see the thick green slime that occurred in my pool after adding the chemicals advised by 5 Star. The pool was milky with the bottom covered by inches of slime. Honestly, people described it as flubber or Crest toothpaste - gumming up first a sand filter, then a brand-new cartridge filter. Roman pools de-installed the new cartridge filter, installed a DE filter (rental) and in three days of continuous backwashing, vacuuming and praying - my pool is CLEAN! Unbelievable! Despite everyone being baffled by the mess in the pool - Romans took action and helped me rescue my pool. Honestly, I was ready to drain it and either fill it in or totally re-do the pool! I am so grateful!!!!!!
