When my family and I first walked in, we entered every room that was allowing visitors to walk and see dogs and cats. The last room we visited was the cat room that is on the right hand side once you enter the front double doors. We stayed awhile to bond and check out all kittens and cats . Two older women both with grey hair approached us very rude and both told us separate Information, as we stood out of the way minding our own business mingling with the kittens, the first women informed us to sanitize right after if we pet a cat which we totally understand so we began to sanitize all four of us. Not even 5 minutes later this other female approached us and said to not touch any animals and to sanitize because we touched a cage where a kitten was reaching out as we stood there. Then proceeded to tell us another cat that was next to us was already being adopted ( which there was no paper saying that) however we didn’t ask for any adoption Info for her so it was kind of irrelevant. Like we can’t stand there and look ? We didn’t understand why she felt the need to say anything to us at all . There was about 15 workers working and only 3 made us feel comfortable and welcomed. The others made us uncomfortable . There hostile vibes threw us off and made our experience a 2 outta ten. The animals where most definitely worth seeing. We went else where but I hope they all find loving family’s . My family is a loving family and our services would have benefited this organization because we where looking for 2 new family members .

Wanted to buy a puppy from a breeder, but honestly feel more joy saving animals from shelters. Adopted an older dog from CAP & a cat in the past. We still have Angel (cat). CAP called as I was wanting a young dog that I placed on wait list. Run over today excited, meet her (so sweet would have been perfect for our small family). Since I have no record of the cats having rabies shot I was told no. WOW could have lied….plus we were in two floods lost everything yes all paperwork amongst everything else. No record of that and then Covid happened….so rabie shot good for 3 years then year of Covid…terrible now poor pup still in the shelter. Went on off day my first trip it was so dirty however when I went on the weekend it was at least clean.

Do not adopt from this shelter. They adopt out sick puppies. My friend’s CAP adopted puppy died of Parvo less than 3 weeks after she adopted it. And yes, she did do all the follow up vet care recommended by the clinic. This shelter refused to help her get another puppy or refund the $150 adoption fee she paid for the puppy that almost immediately died. They also are not a no kill shelter. Let me repeat that - they kill animals they deem unadoptable.

CAP is an amazing place! My husband and i adopted a kitten there, we needed some extra paperwork and Allison (i think!) was very helpful and allowed us to come back the next day with everything and put the kitten on hold for us. We named our baby Elska and she has been the sweetest! Medical exam afterwards was all good, shes playful and eats/drinks well. CAP was very helpful and the employees were really sweet. He’s a Russian Blue with so much personality, and we got him for free with everything including his microchip because of Harvey. The woman who greeted us was very kind and gave us a form to fill out for our lost dog. She explained that we couldn’t go inside to see all the dogs unless we were adopting. We went to sit on a bench they had for people outside. When we went back, there was another kind individual who explained that the “lost dog” forms were renewed every 30 days and that we had to make an appointment to adopt/look at the dogs and cats. This place is very neat and colorful in the lobby and the cat spaces (which you can see from the outside through the window)

Adopted an adorable kitten from this shelter in 2019, and she is the baby of the family now! Truly, an amazing, clean and professional shelter. If you are thinking of adopting from here, DO IT. All of our questions were answered, we were treated well, and never had an issue while adopting and even after the adoption!! In total, including shots etc, we payed $60 and were given a list of veterinarians they recommend to take the kitty for yearly check ups💓Till this day I’m thankful that I stopped by and met my kitty.

The workers are lovely people but you can’t reserve an animal which is why I wanted to to hurry with the adoption process but C.A.P takes incredibly long Also the other reviews are saying they hurt special needs animals I really hope not but idkUpdate: they are so sweet and just talking to sam I Can see they really love their animals she explained the process of adoption, care, organizations etc. ( recommend calling i should’ve did that i read reviews and didn’t even question it please don’t do that) they make the best decision for the animal, they aren’t making a profit from selling them, animals do get adopted so that’s why they disappear off the website and we should be happy they are in a home even if it’s not ours. but I will say the process is kinda long but it’s worth it 💕 I can’t wait to be a mother yes my kid will have an Instagram it’s comingUpdate : his Instagram: shamzleoncook He’s sooo amazing we couldn’t be happier all though he doesn’t believe in personal space thanks guys at cap

They did not take her in and, informed me that they would end up euthanizing her if they did. Sad.

We adopted a female orange tabby 16 years ago from CAP. The kitty did not have a promising history. She was given up twice before and had behavior problems. I adopted her anyway and found she was allergic to fleas. Once treated with flea medication she turned into a member of the family. The entire family was with her when she was euthanized this week. If it werent for CAP we wouldnt have had her for the last 16 years. CAP gave her a chance when she needed it.

I dont know much about dogs and granted he was more unwell that I originally thought and we are having him taken care of. But the gentleman was rude and barely glanced at the pup before turning us away. When we asked if he had any suggestions, he said the only place what would take him was animal control where they were going to euthanize him anyway. I was so upset I cried as soon as I got in the car. As soon as this pup is better, I will pursue other options in finding him a home.

ANYTIME my family and I have tried to adopt a dog, the dog suddenly becomes unavailable. We have tried over 4 times now. Something fishy is going on there. I think there is someone on the inside who tells sellers when there are any special dogs there are. It is impossible to adopt a dog here that is even remotely special or cool. I think there is definitely something illegal going on here. It makes me sad because this is a non-profit.

He wasnt very good with interaction with the puppies didnt take time to assess them said couldnt take them and sent us down the road with no information or suggestions for our situation other then have Them euthanized. What was so upsetting was how calloused and uncompassionate he was about situation. We are homeless and the trip there cost us money we didnt really have to spare. I dropped off two-40lbs bags of dog food for the animal shelter that I had stored in the garage. It’s a high quality brand of dog food, and I wanted to donate the food because I was looking for an animal shelter that was close to my house (which it wasn’t), because I know how hard Animal Shelters have to work to take care of animals. Both of the dogs I have now were adopted at one point, so I understand the resources needed to help these animals thrive. So I was feeling great about donating the food for a good cause. That was until I arrived. The people at the door were NOT friendly, and honestly it felt like it was too much trouble for me to donate food for the animal shelter. I don’t know anything about this place, besides looking at reviews online. There was no thank you whatsoever in donating 80lbs of dog food. I felt as if there was a complete lack of respect for donating the food. I will be sure that my family and I never recommend this place again. Honestly, I wanted to walk back into the shelter and take the dog food to another shelter that would actually be more appreciative. Obviously I wouldn’t do that because this is more about the animals than the people that work there, but it’s so disheartening to see such a lack of appreciation.

This shelter will EUTHANIZE healthy or easily-treatable animals before a proper diagnosis.I brought a 12-week old homeless kitten into CAP in an attempt to find her a foster or forever home. I had trapped her and other feral cats out of my neighborhood, took her in to get shots and spayed at another vet, and realized she had a lot of potential to become a pet rather than a TNR.Upon intake at CAP, they were concerned about a small patch of missing fur on her nose as potential ringworm. The intake assistant said normallythey were hesitant to take kittens with missing fur, but that she had a vet look at it who said it didnt look like ringworm. So, they accept the kitten and take my intake fee. I was happy to pay it to help her find a suitable home.Well, less than one week later I get a call that shes on a euthanasia list for potential ringworm. Not confirmed ringworm, only possible ringworm. And I have three days to come pick her up. So now I makethe hour-long drive again to go collect this kitten because she might have a condition that they told me she did not have a week ago. An easily treatable condition at that.Thankfully I was able to quickly find a proper foster home for her to go to. Her skin scrape just came back today as negative. She wouldve beeneuthanized for a condition she never had.Beware of this shelter if you are bringing in stray animals.

I can finally bring myself to write a review on my experience. Back in July 2020 I applied to adopt and it was just mortifying what I was put through, but I pushed on because I had decided it was the time. I had just lost my precious Bellah and they had a beautiful Nina needing to be rehomed. I answered all the calls about the vet, preventative care history and everything, then I see that Nina was no longer available. The I get a call from someone telling me that my landlord said I had a breed restriction and I said no that is not true, then she said weight restriction, I said no that is not true. I asked about Nina and if she had been given to someone else just tell me and not call me multiple times with these goofy lies, which my landlord denied and I even emailed the pet agreement on my lease. She then claimed that Nina had kennel cough and once she was treated I would get a call. Nov 12 and I am still waiting for the call. I did get a call a few months later with a message left asking the status of my adoption and I just broke down and cried after hearing the message. That feeling of twice the loss. This was an absolutely horrible experience dealing with people who go out of their way to not VET adopters but discriminate. Yes, I said it and I mean it. The first young lady I spoke with was helpful in every way but the one that lies tried every trick in the book to deny my application and when she had no valid reason , they ghosted me. So, I will shop when I look again. The few hundred dollars less to adopt is worth avoiding the disappointment and being made to feel not good enough to love a dog. I was able to adopt by other means this time and as you see the weight restriction was a big lie! She is much bigger than Nina was. Tried all the usual BS, but with the wrong person.
